@@refrigerator4659 nice, freaky Jam. I would like to hear more, and see the band.
He played and he played

My wife has dementia but this song brings her to life as no song could do.

Just wow...I will be thinking of you both.
Love and Light 💙
It's like this song has existed before the universe
What a great comment...
lucid statement
I feel that way about Terrapin Station for some reason. Well it did exist, long before I did. But yet it feels like I remember it from before I existed. If that makes sense?
@@sabrinaleedance Totally! Something truly magic about Grateful Dead tunes
and beyond.....to mars...
RIP Bill Walton, He’s up there with Jerry now
You come back. 🎉. Even jesus taught reincarnation. Look it up.
@@thesjkexperienceNo he didn’t
@@KHarrison91939 You didn’t look it up did you? I know you’re frightened because you’ve been duped, but you will recover and be wiser for it.
@@thesjkexperience What on earth are you talking about. Just state your reasonings for what you said. When did Jesus say that? Plain and simple
@@KHarrison91939 There isn’t room. You can also be afraid to look up that Jews believe in reincarnation too, and Jesus was Jewish. The Jews are upfront about it, where the authortarian church (there is little Jesus left in Christianity) will try and hide the teachings they took out around the year 432. Jews need to complete 613 Motzvot (not sure of the spelling) or you are sent back until you get it right. Jesus taught the same. Why are you so afraid to look it up?
This right here....is the Grateful Dead. Period.
for my beautiful husband partner best friend..who has gone before me....let there be songs to fill my heart
This song is my meaning of life. One of the most spiritual anthems I've ever heard. When I feel low I dip my cup into it for inspiration, when I feel high I sing it in joy and rapture. It makes me weep and it makes me sing. Beautiful. I am so grateful for this gift.
amen to you. \ / \ / \ /
I am sending this song to some friends on their 20's from around the globe.
The phrase Grateful Dead or Jerry Garcia mean nothing to them.
I will direct them to your beautifully written tribute.
I am at a loss how to convey to them the magnitude of our affection for this band and how being a 'deadhead' is not the same thing as being a fan of Led Zeppelin or Korn.
I think your words might help. Thx
Agree
❤️
I want some of whatever your smoking
I was in the USN on a ship in Norfolk. we had a guy named Jimmy Rozzel, his mom worked at radio City Music Hall in promotions. He called home on Monday, her birthday. She asked him if he wanted 4 tickets to the Grateful Dead show this coming Friday. He said yes. I had just bought a '77 Trans-Am and offered to drive. We got permission to leave early on Friday. What a great weekend.
Such a beautiful memory
Cher personally picked this song for the end of Rockies life in the movie Mask....cried my eyes out.
this isn't "one of the best grateful dead songs", its one of the best songs. In general.
Ripple is proof God loves us and wants us to be kind to each other. Robert Hunter's heavenly message sung in Jerry's perfect voice.
Ripple is not proof of God or that any invisible fairy loves you. It’s a beautiful song and that’s it. If there’s a god, and this god created everything, and actually loved humans, why has it allowed literally millions of children to get raped and murdered throughout human history?? Think critically!
@@augustmoon0004 Some people need faith. Maybe just live and let live. Scroll on by would be another option.
I actually feel sorry for you. Of course there is a wonderful god that’s created all the beauty and love around us. And surely they choose some of us earthly beings to be a instrument for their beauty
Amen. Reach out your hand if your cup is empty. There is a fountain!
@@augustmoon0004 And if there is no God, why do humans commit such atrocities?
"If I knew the way, I would take you home"
This song is like a hot bowl of soup for the soul.
if he knew the way he would take me home...
It's saved mine once or twice on psychs
Totally 👍✌️🕉️🕊️
Brilliant definition ! Well said mate !
Amen!
I was born in 1962 and turned 62 July 2024.ear buds in blasting that music and locked the world outside. The late 70s 80'S 90's were the best many great memories. Going down memory lane. This song will be played on my last day on this earth at my request. Still here September 2024!!!!
Any Deadheads listening still???? 🎶
Everyday as needed
I was a card carrying DH with a bumper sticker they sent me that said "Jerry Garcia For President". I wish I still had that sticker and the van that I never put it on because I was paranoid and it was probably probable cause to pull people over and frisk them where I lived. and Check out Playing For Change's cover of Ripple by "Buskers". Street musicians all playing in other countries while listening to tracks laid down by other musicians in many countries:
th-cam.com/video/MHo1fNnXFVU/w-d-xo.html Bill Kreutzman is on it along with Jerry's Daughter Keelin, Jimmy Buffet and David Crosby. If you haven't seen it, you'll weep and thank me... Be Well and spark one up for me :o)
They can’t do that unless they have cause and consent. Learn your rights. If they do such without you can sue.@@utetrahemicon
Saw my first show in 1976. Been hooked ever since. Yes Im still listening
I'm sharing this with my novia de Michoacán, my hippie Michoacana who got her first taste of the Dead this year at DeadAHead in Cancun ❤
Always loved this song and always will. I want it played at my funeral
I’ve asked my kids to have this played at my funeral too. And they must dance to it knowing so am I. 😊
National Anthem of the hippie nation
I’ll take it over maga nation
This is, hands down, the most beautiful song the Grateful Dead have ever made. The melody is so emotional and the harmonies are just unbelievable. I can't help but to cry when I turn it on!
Hi Summer " playing for change " did a worthy cover love from Liverpool UK
@@rumples2698 I watched that this morning! I got all teary!
Yes it's wonderful!
It pulls at my heartstrings when I hear it, and I can't play it just once. I play it until all the memories of the here and now and never was, leave a smile through my tears.
Check out the reckonings version of "oh babe it ain't no lie"
I know i know, its Elizabeth cottens song. But jerrys rendition of it is arguably one of the most beautiful things life can produce
Playing Ripple on guitar at a funeral tomorrow for a lifelong friend that was lost to gun violence. It’s been a tough loss for our tribe but we will get by. This version brings many great memories back and seeing Jerry smile brings solace. Thank you for this. ❤️🖤

I had returned from several months in California after graduation from college and would have enjoyed this show
But I wouldn't become a true deadhead until I moved back to San Francisco in February of, 1989 ,until 1995.what. great memories
@@brucerescorl9233 I wish I had gotten into them a little earlier too..my first show wasn't until 86' or 87'..wish I could remember the year/dates like other people. I never got to tour around with them but I'm thankful I got to see them about 25 times or thereabouts.

No cell phones. No chompers talking. Everyone wants to hear Jerry. Love it.
no phones as it's 1980...
no phones because they didnt exist, the caveat being an entire section with hundreds, possibly thousands of fans recording on their cassettes. if they had phones back then guarantee they would use them

Awesome!
Congrats Pailine! Welcome to ther family! Blerssings, Meg
Get ready for the long strange trip my friend. I discovered the Dead the day Jerry left us.
I started listening to them only recently. They make me so happy.
Welcome to the chilliest fan base ever

Its crazy that a band can have such an impact. Not just through the decades but through generations. I was born to late to see the band, but I still feel them
This will be played at my funeral - i love this message.
ditto!!
California was never the same when Jerry died.
Never gets old, Deadhead for life
God is good! Thank you !
This has to be one of the great songs of the twentieth century. Lyrics, melody, instruments, everything.
My dear departed best friend's favorite song. Miss him so.
Honestly one of the most beautiful songs ever
My favorite version of one of my favorite songs...perfect harmony all around...
As my beloved is on comfort care right now, this song brings comfort. We've been together 39 years and he played this on guitar our first date. After children and grandchildren... God please don't take my soulmate. What will I do without him? I've know him since a child.
Ripple, Topaz, ripple, if it must be.
Lilwing, you bnrought tears to my eyes...I lost my love 26 years ago...I meditate on his memory and can feel his presence in my arms...it never goes away, I promise. My heart goes to you sis, surround yourself with love...learn to sense him. it is comforting, Love, Meg
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music?
Would you hold it near as it were your own?
It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full, may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men
There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone
Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow
You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall, you fall alone
If you should stand, then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home
La da da da...
I love Jerry Garcia’s guitar 🎸 was amazing 😉

what an incredible song
Played this for mom on her deathbed, along with ABB's, Blue Sky and Soulshine. There was one other, it slips my mind. Too many tears flowing at the moment. Love and miss you, mom. And you too, dad..

I had the most magical experience!!!
I was fishing off the dock in ketchikan, Alaska and i had the most wonderful experience!
It was one of those magical summer nights! There was a group of kids and young adults, they were playing games, jumping off the dock and even line dancing! Laughing and talking! Not a cross word! All i could think about was "let there be songs to fill the air"!
Sorry so long.
Whether or not this is your favorite version, I don't think anyone can argue that Jerry's singing is as fine as it ever got.
Disagree. His singing from 1972 - 1974 was way better. Not even close.
@@elmoblatch9787 always one of you in the replies 😂
Jerry's voice is gold

How, how, how could anyone give a thumb down to this. Magical.
People thumb down videos of kids beating cancer for a example, animals getting help. People thumbs down everything
some men want to watch the world burn. they cannot be helped and don't deserve help
In the summer of 1995, we were on a family trip out west. I had seen on the TV listings that PBS was airing this performance while we were going to be away. I set the VCR to tape it. We were in Prescott, AZ when news broke that Jerry had died. I read the papers, listened to the radio a little but it wasn't until we were home and had put the kids to bed that I went downstairs, rewound the tape and watched this concert and this song in particular that it really hit me. I wept. For sorrow, joy, Jerry's life and music, his message to the world.
This better be playing at my funeral. If it's not then I ain't going!!
