  • "One of the most-loved Grateful Dead songs, Ripple was one of the many standouts on American Beauty. It was played 11 times 1970-1971, and then dropped until it returned in 1980, played as the set-closing song every night during the Dead's acoustic sets. It made one final appearance on 9/3/88 in Landover, MD, before being retired for good." - David Lemieux

We've got music from every single studio album and a bevy of live albums, to boot. There are celebrated live performances from the 70s and 80s and official videos with more skeletons than you can shake your bones at, an exclusive seaside series on what's to come from the band's rich catalog and details on meet-ups all across the promised land. If it's community you’re after, try your hand at our yearly DEAD COVERS PROJECT competition and connect with fellow Dead Heads around the world. Heck, keep your eyes peeled you might even catch a glimpse of Pigpen on keys, Jerry in a GROOVE, Bobby tellin' tales, Mickey talkin' space, Phil and friends, Bill on the beach, or anyone from our extended family.

It's all happenin' right here. Subscribe and you won't miss a thing.

The Jews are upfront about it, where the authortarian church (there is little Jesus left in Christianity) will try and hide the teachings they took out around the year 432. Jews need to complete 613 Motzvot (not sure of the spelling) or you are sent back until you get it right. Jesus taught the same. Why are you so afraid to look it up?

This song is my meaning of life. One of the most spiritual anthems I've ever heard. When I feel low I dip my cup into it for inspiration, when I feel high I sing it in joy and rapture. It makes me weep and it makes me sing. Beautiful. I am so grateful for this gift.

The phrase Grateful Dead or Jerry Garcia mean nothing to them.
I will direct them to your beautifully written tribute.
I am at a loss how to convey to them the magnitude of our affection for this band and how being a 'deadhead' is not the same thing as being a fan of Led Zeppelin or Korn.

She asked him if he wanted 4 tickets to the Grateful Dead show this coming Friday. He said yes. I had just bought a '77 Trans-Am and offered to drive. We got permission to leave early on Friday. If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music?
Would you hold it near as it were your own?
    It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
    Perhaps they're better left unsung
    I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air
    Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
    Nor wind to blow
Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full, may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men
There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone
    Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
    Nor wind to blow
You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall, you fall alone
If you should stand, then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home
    La da da da...

In the summer of 1995, we were on a family trip out west. I had seen on the TV listings that PBS was airing this performance while we were going to be away. I set the VCR to tape it. We were in Prescott, AZ when news broke that Jerry had died. I read the papers, listened to the radio a little but it wasn't until we were home and had put the kids to bed that I went downstairs, rewound the tape and watched this concert and this song in particular that it really hit me. I wept. For sorrow, joy, Jerry's life and music, his message to the world.
