I picked this same Amp up used for $450 locally! Absolutely beautiful fat vintage tones. I use this as a pedal platform and it's perfect. And visually striking!
You're lucky, that's one heck of a deal! I've been on the lookout for a good deal on a used one and haven't found one for under $550 with a footswitch yet. Guitar Center has some for $599 right now but I'm holding out for a better deal.
@@martinafan64 I picked one up at GC last week for like 480 with their used sales event savings, and somehow I got free shipping too. Hopefully, it's good when I get it.
Great demo. I just picked one of these up today. Amazing amp. The Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker is perfect. This amp takes pedals so well. I am so happy with this amp.
Literally just got mine delivered yesterday and have not even played it other then to make sure it works, sounds great! Looking forward to this weekend 😉
great video to showcase this awesome amp. I bought one in nov 2021 and still have it, I've been looking for some new alternate settings to put on it so I'll definitely try the ones in your video.
Excellent review. I'm getting this amp (used) when I can afford it. Loved how it sounded with the Blues Driver pedal so I'm getting that too. Strange location for the footswitch input jack though, it's almost as if it was an afterthought after the design was already complete and they didn't know where to put it. BTW, great playing and nice collection of guitars too.
Great review. Saw this amp at Guitar Center and absolutely loved the look, been thinking about it ever since. Now that I know what it can do, I'm going to get one.
Great combo. One thing to note is that these Eminence speakers take quite a bit to break in. Of course they still sound good new, but will be even better after a whole bunch of playing hours. Also, as with most amps, trying some NOS 12ax7 tube options in the first position may also enhance the tone. Cheers!
I also have a limited edition Fender Blues Junior with the same speaker it sounds awesome 👌 the only thing is that the input jack sucks just plan on replacing it later
Kool. I have the Fender American performer Mustang in the same colour...I need this amp now...lol...used to have a black B. Jun., great amp. I like how Fender kept the silver grill on it.
That is so sick. I got lucky and found a Blues junior III for $250. Wanted to change the speaker to a Cannabis Rex and couldn't find a single one online. Had to settle for an Eminence Swamp Thang. I'm not complaining lol
I have this amp and I have to say honestly it's probably got the best speaker I've heard in a long time. It has handled everything I've thrown at it and spits out any sound you want.
Enjoyed your demo. Your Flying V sounded awesome with this amp, Is it Gibson or Epiphone?. I just bought this very same amp 2day. I hesitated about the blue color but quickly got over it when I played it with a store guitar. When I got it home I liked it even better using my guitars (Fender Strat & Epiphone "Lazarus" Les Paul), I compared it to 2 other Blues Juniors with other speakers and preferred the Cannabis Rex speaker. It's well worth the money. Also Thanks to you I now know where the footswitch connects.
Thanks! The V is a Gibson, definitely one of my favorites. Yeah I get some grief at the blues jam for the color haha but when we play it sounds great in the room! I kind of like that it stands out from all the black and tweed. I’m a fan of that speaker too, love the clarity and kick it has. Thanks for watching!
Depends on what you want to spend, you can get a mint used Bjr for 1/2 the price of a Princeton. Princeton is a nice amp, but the stock speaker blows so you’ll immediately need to upgd and overall the PR 65 / 68 is not twice as good as a Bjr. It’s just different tone wise.
@@onemoreguitarchannel What are your thoughts on guitar amp combos meaning that certain brands match up better with each other ie., Fender guitars match up nicely with Fender amps, Gibson and Marshall, Gretsch and Vox etc. ?
@@hwnfrd It usually comes down to the amp for me. If the amp is good I can get any type of guitar to sound the way I expect. I think each brand brings something unique to the sound, and the combos you mentioned are well proven for sure. But I think you can get pretty close to any sound you want with a good amp.
@@onemoreguitarchannel Hi Kyle, I have another question. I'm leaning towards getting a BOSS Katana 100 MKII because the price right now is only $369.00 or even the Katana 50 MKII which is currently $239.00 and the Katana 100 212 isn't out of the question either being that the price is $449.00. What are your thoughts and experience with the BOSS brand amps and what one would you suggest? Thanks for your input.
@@hwnfrd Unfortunately I haven’t played any of the Katanas. I have done a fair bit of research on them though. Several channels feature them regularly and they seem like quality amps to me. 50 vs 100 depends on your needs. 100 is about 7 pounds heavier but offers some nice features if you need them. I’d also recommend checking out the Fender Champion XL50. Andertons did a cool comparison video with it and the Katana that is worth a watch. Cheers!
Here are some settings I've been using. Try some of these out and see if you like it. Also mess with the volume and master volume, if you want a louder clean turn up the master and leave the volume low. If you want a dirtier sound, crank the volume and leave the master down. I usually leave the reverb on 4 or so (depending on the room) unless I want an extra wet sound. Typical setup: B-5, M-6, T-8 Scooped mids: B-6, M-2.5, T-8.5 Rock chords: B-6, M-8.5, T-6 Thin clean: B-0, M-6, T-7.5 Hope this helps!

Mines surf green and it'd be pretty gay too if honies didn't like it I think this is sick I wish they used the leather handle from the tweed one my friend has (it's got a jensen, mines got a celestion creme back, all the custom colors come with an interesting speaker)

That’s the amp I own. No regrets, sounds AMAZING with my Pro. II Tele!

LMAO - was definitely caught off-guard when "Caribou" by The Pixies showed up. great demo, thanks.
This amp loves the P90s in my PRS SE Soapbar

Too bad they couldn't use the leather handle from the tweed amps on this... 👌
The sonic blue is classy
The secret to the amp is master dimmed volume controlled with volume

Swamp Thang is awesome 🎸🤘🏼🇵🇹
I just picked this up the rex speaker is much cleaner sound then the Jenson i tried all 3 fender blues jr speakes & the rex sounded the best.
Which other fender amps have a FAT boost circuit? its meant to be used for guitar solos but most fender amps don't have a FAT boost circuit
Do you prefer the Cannabis Rex to the Celestion in the Tweed? Thanks!

Are they better made than the 2000’s models. The pots used to fall apart just by rotating them?

Mine does not. Total silence with just the volume at zero.
