Thank you so much Corey, this is just what I needed. Been playing through one and I absolutely love it for It's portability and simplicity, but I'm learning there is always more to be squeezed out of it and maximized - this video is a great case in point. Love your playing and your videos, thanks for all you do!

Absolutely Love your Blues JR Videos...... I can't get enough of them. Their is just about nothing that you cant accomplish with this amp. and if needed. just add a delay pedal and or a blues Boss BD2 that is truely all you need that makes it like you had a channel switching Deluxe amp... at a few hundred less in price.

Hey Corey. Picked up a tweed Blues Junior at Christmas. Been looking around for videos on how to EQ it for a nice Blues tone. This is easily the most informative, instructional and plain talking video I’ve seen so far. Brilliant! Can’t wait to try it out on my own amp. Thanks man!

Great tips on cranking up the master instead of the volume. This way you get the gain (clipped signal) from the power tubes instead of the pre tubes. Cooked EL84 sounds great. I do the same with my cheap Bugera V22 which I gigged with for years - people think I use a boutique amp LOL...

Corey I just purchased this amp new from Sweetwater a few months ago and I have an American pro 1 series i bought new in 2019 and I just 5 months ago bought new an American Performer series and the both Strats pair literally amazing with this amp. I can honesty through experience say to you and all your viewers that if you are thinking about buying this amp not to wait to long because you wont be sorry plus these beauties were made exclusive for Sweetwater. If and when they stop making them and you cant buy a brand new one you will have to settle on buying a used one. My point is i would think they would go way up in value and be worth a lot of money. I could be wrong but either way you will love this amp. Corey, nailed it making this video and everything he said and did with the amp is accurate, The sounds you hear I can literally get those tones with my Strats with just using the amp and no need to mic it up. I use a tube screamer TS9 and like he said and is exactly right the reverb is a little weak but nothing my Hall Of Fame 2 Mini cant handle and makes the reverb sound so sweet and amazing. People like i stated dont wait just pull the trigger and buy this amp it will blow you away. And the power is unreal delivering such a great speaker breakup when needed....And Corey btw you are a superb player,, Damn you can play and play from the heart...

I know it's totally a matter of everyone's individual taste. After 35 years of playing guitar. Using all types and size of amps. I find the blues jr my favorite amp of all time. I would say as deluxe with the 2 channel but with a blues pedal you get the same as if you had a2 channel amp. And it's a few hundred lower in cost even with a pedal or 2. Love it.

Good stuff Corey. With an unfamiliar amp I always tend to sweep the bass/mids /treble controls through to find the true mid point of the controls - where you hear things start to roll in. It often isn't the middle "number" on the control plate. I start from that true mid point and adjust the EQ from there.

@@coreycongilio Thanks for your answer. Yes, I enjoyed your playing and sound a lot! Concerning the Blues Junior I would like to know, how the different speakers effect the sound? As far as I know there are Blues Juniors with Celestion, Jensen, Eminence Red White & Bluesspeakers, or like in this video, Eminence Cannabis Rex speakers. Did you play some of these? I personally play a Strat and prefer this dramatic Stevie Ray type of sound, with a lot of dynamics and dirt but also warmness. Your sound is so far the best I've heard with this little amp. Do you think the Cannabis speaker is an important part of this sound? Greetings , Chris

Great video Corey thanks. I have a Mk 4 Blues Junior and I use my Strat and tele for gigs in pubs mainly. I usually have the volume set on 4 and then adjust the master but I can rarely get it above 5 or 6 before it becomes too loud. I get a night tone but I do have to use pedals to get the tones for the covers I play in my band. I think it is a great little amp for the money and it fits in the car easily and isn't too heavy and at my age, that is a plus.

The "green board" you mention is due to Fender finally using a slightly better quality P.C.B. with conformal coating. They, (Fender)at one time were really only using the ultimate CHEAP-ASS uncoated crap. I think they are using a "TOO LIGHT in the copper Dept." crap.

I have the Blues Junior several years and I ve never tried to set the Master Volume to maximum. Today I've tried it. In my opinion, it doesn't sound best in this setting. Maybe my Amp seems to get in the overdrive a little bit later, than in your demonstration?! I m not sure if there are slightly different models with different tubes out in the market. Maybe it works if you use pedals in front of the amp. But on its own, I think the sound is best when you set the master to 4-5 and the volume to 4-5. When you add the booster, it starts to distort slowly. But of course this is a matter of taste and a question of what other ground effects you use. Unfortunately, the amp has no loop-in path, so it is very rudimentary, but it does its job.

I really appreciate you going with mic'ing the room instead of the amp. Which gives the sound of the amp and
not the PA. But I do not understand how you are getting such quality lows without cranking the bass. I have a
B Jr IV and a BDRI. Both modded with the 70s Fender Tone Stack before they went to the Marshal Tone Stack.
Incredible original full Fender Sparkle and Compression. Lowered the Brite Cap on the DBJI and also the B Jr
with the addition of a Brite Switch. But I always have to push the bass up. I guess that's just me. But when
I worked the Studios I was always being told to bring the bass up so they could adjust it in the booth.?????

I've got one in my sweatwater basket but I'm curious how it handles distortion pedals?

Great video as always, Corey! The Blues Jr gets a bad rap, but it’s a versatile laborer. Curious what the function of the double Ox Box in the background there is!

This one caught my eye. $800ish (w/tax) ain't cheap so it should sound nice. I have this amp. It's a bit noisy but still pretty good. I run it Master all the way up and use pedals. Plenty of amp for us bedroom players.

That's my favorite way. Tube amps are always more expensive than digital and circuit board but, they always sound better!

Corey! Excellent video and tones. Just a question - you’re running it through the Ox here?

Great video Corey. A couple of things:
    1) Mine didn’t come with a pedal for the fat switch. Is that a Sweetwater “sweetener”?
    2) I too find the amp has max headroom with the master wide open but when the preamp volume is at bedroom volume like that, the touch responsiveness can actually be too spiky. I think the pedal show explained it well recently. There’s too much dynamics available and without any compression from the amp or a pedal it can be tricky if you’re trying to keep the volume down at home.
The amp sounds great when you have a more balanced setup between the two volumes and it has the edge of breakup tone as there’s just a bit of compression kicking in.
    3) I agree re the preamp volume - once you get past 7-8 it starts to lose all clarity. The same with the bass knob - i like it around 3-4 with humbuckers so you’re not driving the amp as hard and making the bottom end flab out.
    4) I have a humbucker guitar (Ibanez JS) that can split to single coils but that Les Paul sounded killer. I think these amps sound best when you don’t drive them too hot and put them on the edge where you can dig in to make them sing or ease off to sound cleanish.
    5) what pedals might you run into the amp with the edge of breakup tone you had. The 10 and 2 setting. I’m guessing you meant clock and not numbers on the amp dials?
    Cheers man!

Not sure about the pedal being a Sweetwater exclusive. If all blues jrs have a jack for it, any single button footswitch will do. I'll be doing some overdrive videos soon!

Ah sorry, I meant Fender don’t include them with the blues junior so I thought it might me something Sweetwater included

For fender cleans with decent headroom which amp am i better off going with? The Blues Jr, the Princeton or something else? Thanks for opinions.

It would be a great little amp if Fender would respect their costumers by using a few more cents on the PCB design, filter caps, off the board pots n´jack and the right Bias settings ! This amp has been on the marked for 20+ years, and they still piss on the costumers! (I still have mine, but damn, I wouldn't buy one if I knew how much work that had to be done on the thing) Still it's loud :) and after 20 years, I guess It's just a part of the family

I own this model. Let me tell you. This amp is a MONSTER! No bottom end flub at any volume.
