My first reaction to the Spider Noir news was... "Live action??!!!". Something about that part of the concept didn't sell me. Also, I didn't know MGM+ was a thing. 🤷🏾♀️
I like it, can you imagine a live action spiderman noir show with the style of sin city, max payne or the batman?
Baffles me that MGM+ is a thing. Amazon should just merge it into Prime. Why does one company need two different streamers? Disney had the right idea merging Hulu with Disney+

I really hope that Amazon didn’t give up on silk because of the response to the marvels. Maybe not a perfect movie but it certainly did not deserve the hate it received.
I couldn't disagree more regarding Ariana Grande. Galinda is supposed to be one note in the beginning. She is a bubbly but mean girl in the musical. That's the role.

I can't be excited about live action Sony Marvel until they prove they can do it right again.
I know Michael Vogul was just joking when he said he wants to age like Will Smith and not like Martin Lawrence but I think it’s important to note that Martin has been through a lot in his life, including having a stroke. I see a lot of shade and condescending comments towards Martin, we all should be grateful and show a little respect and be grateful we’re able to make it at any age. Don’t judge what you don’t know.

Gotta be honest, I was disappointed that you didn’t talk about Rings of Power. I was just curious about your thoughts on it. On the Wicked topic, I have to agree with Rocha. Ariana still feel stiff to me. I also don’t have a lot of faith with the director. I’m one of those that wasn’t big on Crazy Rich Asians. Maybe just because I’m not a fan of rom coms and as an Asian, that story has been done too many times; the mother not supportive cuz the girl isn’t from the same world; but yeah his track record is not good. Hope I will be pleasantly surprised though
I agree with Rocha with Wicked… never seen the stage play either, but It looks like Ariana’s Glinda is the mean girl and Cynthia’s Elphaba is the misunderstood one. Will it turn out that Glinda becomes the Wicked Witch and Elphaba becomes the Good Witch? I’m just going by the trailer.
You have it correct as far as the roles for the two, with the first half of the musical at least that is how it is meant to be, as someone who has seen the stage play. I think if that does not work for people then it is not meant to, Elphaba is a kind-hearted person who has magic she cannot control and Glinda is vain and sometimes cruel. My worry is the overacting Ariana could be doing to try to make her performance similar to Kristen Chenoweth in the play which may not work in movie for a lot of non stage audiences.

Would love to see Michael and Jeff go over the Wicked movie's prospects, lol. I've got some choice thoughts on Jeff's take from yesterday's Hot Mic, but I had so much to say about it and the rest, I've been kinda organizing all my thoughts about it so I don't simply come across as a jerk XD.

Ariana Grande is really funny on SNL so I am hopeful. I hated her in Hairspray Live though.
Have seen Wicked in yhe west end but wasn't a fan, and the trailers haven't made me excited for the film.
Why does this exist? Kids are still hungry. And it does nothing to inspire.
I think Wicked could go either way in terms of box office. It could be a surprise hit, or a complete flop. Like Twilight or Barbie , It needs to be a a big with the female audiance, as very few males (except those who go with their wives, daughters etc). will show up. Also, there is some strong competition for the family audience from Lion King, Sonic and especially the young females with moana 2.
It doesnt have to worry about Lion King and Sonic those are in mid-late December it does have to worry about Moana 2. That said, Iger better hope he gave that team enough time to turn Moana 2 from a show into a movie that’s at least as good as the original or it may debut strong then fall off drastically second week.

@@jim1242true the only reason I’m not too worried about that is the duo they got are a Grammy winning duo for a great unauthorized bridgerton musical album. It’s pretty good different type of music though so it is up in the air.

While I hope Michael is right on Wicked... I don't see it. It's gonna bomb. Hard. I don't think live action film musicals connect with the current audience (not to mention the last few decades). Maybe if EVERY gay, bi, curious and straight guy in a theater company goes, it'll kill. But I bet that this movie will kill live action musicals. I hope I'm wrong.
also it is gonig up against Moana 2 for the young female audiance, and there will be the new lion king movie as well as Sonic 3. I could be a big hit, or a huge flop like Cats.

The "Musical" as concept does not work for modern audiences. It's below baseball as making sense in a modern era. Your thoughts?
Usually I'd agree with you if it weren't for Wonka (which I didn't see but it made a lot of $). You may still be right though.
I mean it could bomb but I think the same audiences that filled Barbie and the frozen films could turn out to Wicked. Moana 2 though that could impact it hard.

It doesn’t make him more of a monster. He messed up but also apologized. He’s not your guy, cool. But the way we make what he did worse than what multiple men in Hollywood have done to women over and over is ridiculous.

@@matthewheywood8532 Cage has been in three feature films since then. Brolin is the lead in a series that just dropped its second season on Prime Video and Johnny Depp just dropped his new film in theaters last week. If you haven't seen them in awhile, you haven't been looking.
