This man was Legolas in Lord Of The Rings Trilogy and Will Turner in Pirates Of The Carribbean Trilogy. These two alone made him a legend at this point 🙌
His 1st wife makes it the greatest trilogy of all time.

@@OrganicActing I agree that the word "Legend" and stuff like that is overused, but in this case I feel like it is justified. LotR is arguably the best trilogy of all time and the first three Pirates of the Carribbean are fantastic as well

You can tell playing Legolas was and still is something incredibly special to him. Its so refreshing to see him and all the rest of the cast continue to love these movies instead of rolling their eyes constantly
The speed and depth of detail of the answer spoke volumes! You see similar in all the cast when they speak of it! What a truly special moment in time that trilogy is!
Because it's an epic movie series that people respect and love. That's why the actors are proud of it.
I worked with him on rings.
He was a spoiled entitled fop who caused serious problems on set.
He once stole a quad bike and went off into the hills in the south island in the middle of a shoot day, if he had injured himself the entire production would’ve ground to a halt.

He was basically a nobody before LotR. He said he was only paid $50k for each movie, that's how small an actor he was back then but it catapulted him into the A list.
Lord of the Rings was his very first big movie and he wasn’t very popular before that, so I think he remembers it very well because it was his like first ever big role
He came right from drama school and into this huge production of LOTR. Such a long time of filming for the first time and he did a tremendous job. All my respect!

He didn’t take it seriously, he caused problems on set and he once almost caused the production to shut down.

He first auditioned for Faramir but they thought he would be a great Legolas instead.

You can really tell Lord of the Rings had a major impact on his memories. While I am sure the other movies had an impact on his life, Lord of the rings really did have all those good vibes you want to remember rather than forget.
Hearing from everyone who worked on those films, I've barely heard a bad word about the experience. Grueling, physically taxing, mentally challenging, but all in all a very good time in their lives, with wonderful memories! For Bloom especially, it was very much like going away to college. That age, 18, 19, 20, 21, those pivotal years in a young person's life. Many actors at that age are not going to a regular college experience; they kind of miss out on that type of thing at that age. Going from gig to gig, as actors often do. Having that solid stable work for several years in a row, working with the same people- all of whom got along very well with each other. Must have been a magical time!
yeh that was his first big film for sure as well. when we 14 year old girls discovered him in his beautiful blonde wig being the most competent person in the Fellowship and had a big 🥺🥺🥺 moment

Much respect to Mr. Bloom who hated playing Paris, but gutted it out anyway because he's a real (bleeping) professional.
I mean Paris is supposed to be unlikable character in a way. He's arrogant and self-centered but in the end he's a naive kid and stuff happens mostly because people take advantage of the situation he created so... love him or hate him, I guess.
@@immortaljanus I feel the movie really misses out a key point from the Illiad that makes Paris and Helen more sympathetic.
Both of them are explicit pawns of Aphrodite who makes the fall in love. Hera and Athena are also brewing that war for their enmity towards Aphrodite and Paris choice in their beauty contest. So much of Greek tragedy was rooted in unavoidable destiny.
What's interesting is how non-judgmental Homer is towards the pair. Helen is written singing a lement to her choice before the duel. And Paris' father comforts her in both the poem and the movie. I'm glad that translated, at least. And Agamemnon's ambition is a stand-in for the divine puppeteering happening behind the war.

I just got to meet this wonderful man at comic con last weekend. The poor guy was so jetlagged but he pushed through and still smiled and greeted everyone. He apologised to me for being so tired. The Pirates trilogy (yes trilogy we don’t talk about 4 and 5…) have always been my favourite movies ever. My best friend Regina and I became best friends because of Captain Jack and Will Turner. ❤ She passed away two years ago so it’s a bittersweet feeling now about the movies and how much I love them and her.
While I like 2 best, 4 and 5 is a mid favorite for me cause idea of finding fountain of youth, angelica impersonating Jack Sparrow, Barbossa has a daughter, reference of witch trials, fighting mermaids/zombies/ghosts are interesting
What's more: The night before I watched Pirates 5 for first time, I dreamt that Barbossa died from people shooting him, Jack sparrow, and Gibbs☹️ My dream spoil the movie

Orlando was such a huge star in the 2000s, I remember girls had posters of him in their bedrooms , crazy how we faded away but when you Pirates and LOTR money who could blame him
LOTR was also his first movie out of drama school then he went to super famous super fast it was probably overwhelming and felt good to do smaller projects for a while
I feel like he and Josh Hartnett had a similar arc. got totally burned out on the heart throb thing but made millions off it, pursued their freedom to do much smaller roles through the rest of their career.
Orlando only got paid 145k for all 3 Lotr movies which is insane but at the end of the day it was worth it as they ate the greatest movies ever

I still have them in my room more than 20 years later ( and 3 houses lived later). I invited my 14yo daughter to watch it the trilogy with me now (2024) and she was hooked! She loves Legolas too that she asked me to draw him to which i answered, il pass onto you my framed posters of Legolas, they are all yours! Watching the movie again after 2 decades and still able to simultaneously say some lines in the movie amazed my daughter and me! It was nostalgic, my heart swelled on the memory of how much i loved LOTR, so much so that back in 2002, i started a website dedicated to LOTR photos, just pages and pages of photos (especially of course of Legolas).
Now in 2024, at age 40, my youtube recommendations are still filled with LOTR, its characters, genealogy (yes, haha) and anything abt the elves). For me, nothing will beat LOTR, the greatest trilogy ever!
I guess he had a similar problem to Mark Hamill after Star Wars. Too big and too recognisable for more leading roles.
The fact that my childhood was basically watching LOTR and Pirates interchangeably and I didn't realise he was both Legolas and Will until years after when my mum mentioned it spontaneously like I knew and I just shouted NO

It’s honestly so great that people like Orlando, Elijah, Sean, Dom, etc are ALL so nice and genuine. It makes loving these movies THAT much better. They’re all people who are still friends, rejoice in what they did and are just through and through good people.
Bummer that’s how he feels about Troy but the honesty is refreshing.
But still, Troy was a great film & he did such a great job at playing the pissy kid that it just makes the part

Oh god. The lotr TH-cam loop gets me every other year. Listening to the lore over and over again, even when I read all the books and know 90% of the trivia.
Coincidentally just finished At World's End tonight, the trilogy definitely holds up like LOTR. Davy Jones is without a doubt one of the best motion capture characters ever.
YES! Pirates 3 is soooooooo good. It bothers me when people say it’s the worst one of the main three. I’m like-IT IS THE BEST ONE WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! 😂 I saw the midnight showing of it with my best friend and her twin sister, we even dressed up! It was the best

@@JRod1973uh yeah. Without the extended cut, there are HUGE plot points just completely missing from the film. So weird to put so many key points to the story exclusively in the directors cut
I know everything is overshadowed by LOTR and POTC but Troy and Kingdom of Heaven are SUCH good movies! The cast of each of them is incredible in itself! Shoutout to Elizabethtown I freaking love that movie! I actually spoke to someone recently who loves it and i so rarely find people who have seen it! I was hoping when he said he'd blanked out a movie in the opening montage it was going to be The Calcium Kid 😂😂 we won't mention that one eh babes 😂. I was so happy when he came back for The Hobbit. I still need to watch the 5th Pirates some time. Aww. He's such a sweet dude I wish nothing but goodness for him. Always lovely to see him.

An elf , a pirate, a prince , a knight etc.
Christ this man looks GREAT for his age. When I was a teenager, I had a poster of him as a young man in a place of pride on my door to go with some of my LOTR posters. Not ashamed to admit it, I had such a crush, and I think I still do! Rooting for him and I wish him nothing but the best!
Oof me too I had so many posters of him until my mom start getting all judgmental about it, so I was forced to put all the other lotr actors/actresses all over my walls lmao 🙄
I met him when he was in a play, In Celebration in London, having a huge crush on him at the time (and still now!), he was so lovely and happy to sign the hundreds of autographs outside the theatre.
As a huge LOTR fan, I have gained more respect and admiration to Orlando bc I now understand how serious he took playing Legolas as well as the impact it has had on him.

Diane Kruger is a fine looking lady, but Orlando was fresh of his pretty boy look as Legolas in LOTR.

Memory about Orlando Bloom, I sat at DMV in West Hollywood doing my driving test, its a really small room and they gave us chairs along the corridor, and I literally doing my text on my lap and then someone just passed me by and stepped on my foot. And I just heard: "oh I am sorry", i was like ok, it happens. I looked up and it was Orlando Bloom. 10 minutes later he walked back and again stepped on my foot and again "Oh, I am sorry". Later officer told us that its very popular location for celebrities to do their DL. Later that year I saw Iron Man there)))

I was thinking about Orlando Blook the other day and his acting career. Literally in some of the greatest movies ever created. LoTR, Pirates of the Caribbean, Kindom of Heaven, Troy, Black Hawk Down. All top tier movies, wild to think about.

LOTR still not only holds up today, but it holds up better than a lot of movies out today. The cgi, story telling, writing, acting is all top tier. Just amazing movies
Tbh i wouldn't count him among my favorite actors, i honestly don't know if i even have a top 5 because there are so many great actors and actresses, BUT he is undeniably a GOAT. My favorite movie ever is Kingdom of Heaven and my favorite trilogy is LoTR. Safe to say, Mr. Bloom has had a major impact on my life.
Him saying he hated playing Paris in Troy makes his performance in it make a lot more sense. You could see the unenthusiasm in it and I could never remember why after watching the pirates franchise.

It’s so interesting how multiple actors feel the same way about iconic rolls they have played and how it sometimes casts too big of a shadow on new rolls you play.
I was pleasantly surprised to hear about his Peppa Pig lol that's hilarious and so cute. Also, as soon as he read the crew member line, I knew it was the second one ; Dead Man's Chest! My FAVORITE ONE. ❤ He is such an iconic actor and has been in so many films from many people's childhoods and stuff.

Orlando being Legolas made me a fan but i hopped it wouldn't be all we get to see him in because some people might not get how much potential he had then we got Pirates and Kingdom of Heaven. The LOTR lines did stick with you. And as someone who had Two Towards extended cut on DVD box set i appreciate you doing all your running. Lord of the rings and Pirates of the caribbean are two of my favorite franchises, and Legolas and Will Turner are both amazing characters I fell in love with!
I clearly remember going to see Pirates of the Caribbean in the theater and there wasn't really a lot of buzz surrounding it. It was really just another random summer adventure movie. You know that feeling in the air when you leave the theater and everyone excited cause they just saw a damn good movie who ended on a high note? It was definetly like that
I can't believe this man were 7 years all and everything to me since I was 12 years old (I'm 34 now). I saw him in the first movie of LOTR and so I grew up with him and so everything came to life in me (if you know what I mean 😂😂). Although he is older, I still see in him this young man who couldn't stand still behind the cameras (Bungeejumping and so on...). Time and experience made him quieter but he still got that thing I would fell for years and years ago. Sorry for my english, I'm from Germany 😅
Soundtrack for “Kingdom of Heaven” is some of my all-time favorite music. The film is beautiful
