Shane wasn't bad, he was human. He tried to do what he felt was right when the world was falling apart around him. He made some mistakes just like we all would.

Shane made the walking dead so much better! His character had the most layers by far. I havnt liked the show as much since he was killed off :(

That's right , his fate didn't end in the farm season ! And that Shane that Rick saw in Woodbury, dude it was him ! Now take a damn look at the whole story !
When Shane got stabbed by Rick he lost a lot of blood which made him faint. Rick thought he was dead not only because of too much blood loss but also because his body was cold. But indeed it was cold, but just because of the weather in that cold night ! Thinking his best friend was dead, Rick started panicking and got so depressed that he started seen things ! When Carl arrived he saw Shane in the floor and felt the same way ! A walker came to their Direction, Carl started to see the walker as Shane because of his depressing state, So did Rick ! So basically Carl shot just an unknown Walker! When Rick and Carl were walking away, Shane woke up but was to weak to stand up and face Rick and Carl ! The herd came walking towards them and shane was the only one that saw them. He could have warned Rick and Carl but he didn't ! He couldn't just yell " Rick look behind you !" He knew if he did that it would be his end ! So shane took the walker that Carl shot and used it to hide from the herd by putting the body above his. ( sorry if my grandma is sucking so far english is not my first language ). The herd walked across shane and didn't notice his presence. With the herd gone Shane walked away from the farm area. He didn't know what he was gonna do. He couldn't just show up to the group just yet. After walking a while he fainted in the middle of the road. In the same morning that Rick's group met each other after the farm attack, Shane was found by the governor's group and was taken to Woodbury.
As I was saying Shane was taken to Woodbury, and was interrogated by the Governor himself, after receiving medical care of course. At the moment Shane was in a room with The governor and Merle. He was questioned about his group in Atlanta, and as usual he just told them one of his lies. He told them that the group was spread into different groups. Rick's group went to Nebraska while his group to Fort Benning. He also told them that they were attacked by another group and got stabbed pretty bad. The governor didn't know he could trust Shane, but he saw something in him...He saw "guts" ! He invited Shane to be part of the community and he said "yes". At that time all he could think about was Lori and "his" baby. He thought Woodbury would be a safe place for them, but he also knew that they wouldn't trust him anymore. He knew that Rick would tell them about that cold night in the farm. Shane was broken, but for some reason he didn't want to give up on them. He couldn't trust Rick with Lori, Carl and the baby. He was planning to earn the governor's respect and stab his ass eventually to take over the place ! The days were passing when the winter came to an end. One day the governor's man found two woman next to a helicopter crash site. At that time shane was leading a run to get more supplies. Merle told the governor that Andrea was also part of the Atlanta group. Philip could have told Andrea about Shane but he decided to avoid unnecessary comments for awhile. When Shane came back from his run, Woodbury was been attacked by a group that lives in a prison. Shane joined the fight and saw his long lost friend, Rick Grimes. To show that he was serious he killed Oscar. Rick thought he was seen things at that time, but he wasn't. Shane was there right in front of him, and Rick shot him with no mercy. Shane fell down and got dragged back to the smoke by one of his buddies. Rick's mind was too fucked to see the guy dragging him. He was only looking down, at the moment he blinked an eye and missed the scene and found another guy in the floor. Shane's buddy was taking him to Milton but got shot in the way. Shane was still awake, injured, but awake ! He crawled into a house and patched himself up with fire, bandages and more. At that time he knew he had a chance to follow Rick's group back to the prison as soon as they leave Woodbury. He didn't know Rick thought he was having an hallucination, so he thought he was been hunted at that time. Shane couldn't face Rick ! Not with his Shoulder Injured. So he left Woodbury when he could. At that night in the middle of all that slaughter, Shane took the chance to escape Woodbury !
Eventually Shane found out about Lori's death by spying the people in the prison. Right after knowing about it he blamed Rick and was planning to avenge Lori. When the day finally came the governor attacked the prison. So again Shane have failed. On one side, he saw Rick and Carl walking away from the prison, and the other side he saw Tyreese, Lizzy and Mika with Judith. So he thought " What worth is avenging Rick when I can just have my baby ?" So he went after Tyreese Lizzy and Mica. When he finally had Tyreese on his aim, two walkers attacked him and he fell from a hill with both of them. When he woke up he was tied with a wire rope in the back of a truck. The truck destination was to Washington. On the way they had an accident and Shane was the only one who survived it ! He was injured ( again) very Injured ! When he woke up he was in a horse with an armored guy taking him to a place called The Kingdom !

That wasn't what I was referring to. My point was that Shane soon became a threat by making decisions that compromised everyone else and began actively endangering Rick. Shane might have saved Rick, but he ultimately would have killed him just the same if he wasn't beaten.

I feel like like even in episode 212 Shane still maintained enough humanity that an intervention with the whole group might have resolved everything, damn near looked like Shane was willing to go back to the house with Rick....

I wouldn't call him selfish it was just he started taking care of Lorie and Carl which caused him to fall in love and see himself as their protector, provider, kind of a husband and father figure. Then Rick comes back and takes everything his world, destroys everything he built he was always looking out for the group but eventually it all got to him.

Shane and Merle had the most depth of any character in the show, and great actors portraying them. The show went downhill after they died. It needed anti-heroes to challenge Rick. The show is garbage now

Shane has to be the character that I relate to and feel the most sympathy for from any tv show ive ever seen. This was a good man who always got blamed and overlooked for his efforts. He was replaced and rejected and emotionally manipulated, yet despite all that he still did the best by the group. He never backed down.
He disappointed me right at the end, but in his position what was the point in being alive and just taking all that crap over and over?

Eventually Shane found out about Lori's death by spying the people in the prison. Right after knowing about it he blamed Rick and was planning to avenge Lori. When the day finally came the governor attacked the prison. So again Shane have failed. On one side, he saw Rick and Carl walking away from the prison, and the other side he saw Tyreese, Lizzy and Mika with Judith. So he thought " What worth is avenging Rick when I can just have my baby ?" So he went after Tyreese Lizzy and Mica. When he finally had Tyreese on his aim, two walkers attacked him and he fell from a hill with both of them. When he woke up he was tied with a wire rope in the back of a truck. The truck destination was to Washington. On the way they had an accident and Shane was the only one who survived it ! He was injured ( again) very Injured ! When he woke up he was in a horse with an armored guy taking him to a place called The Kingdom !
Miss Hershel's Farm Season, that may have been the best season of the Walking Dead hands down, because Shane killed it!!! It was classic, felt real!

Shane has to of been the best character from the beginning. He had done a lot for the group and protected everyone, went out and risked his life to save people, like when Carl got shot in Season he goes off and gets supplies to save him and makes sure he gets back alive to save Carl. He knew what was right to survive and didn't want to take any chances with letting in people who could get their group killed. If Shane was still alive, the Governor would be dead, and most likely a lot of other characters would still be alive like Lori.

I really think it was stupid they killed him off so early. He was one of the most complex characters in the show and I feel that the whole conflict he had with Rick should have at least waited until Season 3 if not Season 4. Very unfortunate.
Yeah, I think that the whole conflict would have been awesome in Season 3. I think the issue is that 9 months on the road, they probably would have confronted each other well before Season 3 started, in that time.
Besides, Shane was already being pushed as a character. I don't mind the differences from the comic, but Shane died back at the Atlanta Camp in the comic. Which means that after already beginning that conflict in Season 1 and 2, there's no way TV Rick would tolerate TV Shane much longer than Comic Rick tolerated Comic Shane. They still have their core ties to the comic, sooo... I'll go now...

Let me just say first hand that Shane is my favorite character by far. I want to know why everyone wanted Shane to die, yes he did aim his gun at Rick in Season 1 and was jealous of him because Lori and Rick got back together. But what people don't realize is that the whole Rick and Shane feud brought interesting and complicated entertainment to the show. Also, I think how everyone hated Shane and wanted him to be killed off. That just shows how much of a talented actor he was, Thanks Jon.

Shane is the Punisher of Walking Dead. He belives killing zombies for the greater good, without mercy or compassion. I really like him
I love this video. If Shane was alive, I know that Carl would still be alive. Shane wouldn't leave to attend to business elsewhere. He would send others, he would be in Alexandria to watch over Carl and Judith. Rick's main problem was he didn't know how to delegate, he wanted to do everything himself and it got his son killed. Shane protected what was his, and therefore Carl would still be alive.

Shane was about to leave the group before just had to go stir things up between him and Rick by admitting she was pregnant, and just telling Shane that the baby was Ricks even if it wasn't. Shane would have left the group, Andrea might have gone with him and the story could possibly be something completely different.
The beauty of the new announcement of The Walking Dead Anthology is they could possibly make what the fans ever wanted a reality. A major "What if" Alternate scenario. And I can see them doing it in little installments. The anthology is actually GENIUS because now they can put out whatever content they want in their own universe, and whatever we thought was impossible could now totally be possible.

Shane walsh just misses the governor in The walking dead and against negan he could have changed so much and alright (spoiler alert) where Rick is now in the new season away shane would have searched him for a long time and replaced him later somehow I just miss Shane as much as his character was as strong as himself he was a real survival artist and would have long survived and shortened the process with Negan and made governor R.I.P

The reason why Shane killed (sacrificed) Otis was pretty clear in my books. He was injured, he knew that without some sort of set back from the zombies that both of them would die, and that then Carl would also die due to not getting the medical equipment needed to save him.
So Shane made a decision, sacrifice one for the lives of two, or keep his morality and have all three of them die.
It's why he ended up being more aggressive, he knew the sacrifice was needed - a necessary evil.
