- Hershel Greene is a character that I feel a lot of people took for granite throughout Seasons 2 & 3. But to me he was always the character who helped give strength and courage to the characters around him. And that, thats True Strength.

They were some of the only humane people in the show

His death was so shocking to me since the last time I saw that he was in fair health. I never knew of his other acting performances, but I’m sure Scott Wilson was an excellent actor in his own way. fordgt402 That was epic. I was sure that was the moment on 1st watch that he was going to die. Going down with the farm. Then when he was bit at the prison surely I thought he was a goner. So glad they developed his character into the 4th season. It was inevitable that an old 1 legged man was gonna not survive long term in an apocalypse but damn if I didn't cry when he did finally die.

Dylan Lester Dale was the moral center of the show, and as he passed, Hershel accepted the mantle of the highest moral character. With his death, nothing was quite the same, and no one really replaced him

Hershel was by far my favorite character. Years later I still gave me no death. A fabulous actor who inspires gentleness and respect. I love this series but sometimes it's really hard.

I didn't cry when the Governor sliced his neck, I cried because he was trying to get away, he wanted to live. He wanted to stay!... But then the governor finished him off, I cried for more than 10 minutes after that. I continued watching.. When Michonne found his head, and he was.. A zombie I criee once more. Hershal was the best character, Dale as well.

Dale was an prick but Hershel was the real McCoy! I was so angry that the governor killed my favorite character! I actually yelled at my TV saying "Kill him Rick!!!" Hershel is and will always be my favorite.

Lime_Frost Same here lol, been doing so long before his death episode, and I was eating spaghetti on a tuesday while I watched him die. (I only ever watch Walking Dead on tuesdays at my parents house with my parents).

Best tribute I've ever seen. I miss Hershel already. I don't know if I'll continue to watch the show without him. I know some people may think it's silly of me, but even a character from a tv show can teach us very important things. That's why Hershel is so special.

Hershel will always be my favorite character. Why? Because he brought such a decency to the show. He was kind, he was decent, he risked his life to help others, he provided a father figure to the group, and like any decent father, he would do whatever it took to protect those whom he loved.
Reminds me of my dad. Love that man, (my dad). He's the most important man in my life.
And just as a word of advice to any young people reading this, treat your parents like GOLD while you have them.
