I’ve watched this video countless times. The Governor is the BEST Walking Dead villain ever. “Once” matches him so perfectly since it’s a song about losing yourself which happened to Philip. Perfect MV for The Governor.
@@wolfthornnholtzklau4913 nah Kbone is right if Phillip joined Rick them 2 would be a power house and Negan would be dead not saved i like Negan too but The Governor/Phillip was more clever and deadly foe Negan had more #s than The Governor but he had a tank at his disposal so sanctuary would been destroyed just like the prison
"He just..lost it." "Who?" "The man in charge." The rise. The descent into madness. Remption. Fall. Death. Life. All these themes are ones that make this show what it is today and why it's viewed by millions of people of all ages and backgrounds around the nation and world.
He even used the same 'Manipulation' technique in a way. "We can all live together", Rick tried that with Shane, The Governor, AND Negan. Rick is just becoming a mirror image of each major villan in the show he "Defeated", the same three I mentioned earlier.
Its a shame how they made it look like he was going to redeem himself in his first standalone episode and then ruined it by making him turn evil again. Would have been interesting to see how he, Merle, Milton and Martinez and co would've worked together with Rick's group
The Governor was more convincing as a human being plus villain than NEEGAN, I think . Neegan acts the fool and jokes around , even though he is evil . I think the Governor had more DEPTH to his character!! Oh yeah !!
JANINE Rowling Negan looks after himself he has his own rules his own agenda of things. So he's not evil like the governor, the governor is the most nastiest & most evil. Negan is complex. Just look up the comic & u see why he's more evil than Negan. Negan is dark version of Rick grimes.
He killed 3 awesome characters: Merle, Martinez and Milton. I would have loved to have seen more of them. But then again, I'm halfway through Kirkman's books about the Governor and I still find respect for him. RIP.
The Governor was by far one of my favorite characters. He was a tragic hero is some sense. before everything happened, he was a nobody, and when everything went down, he practically became this messiah to many, but like many heroes, they have their downfalls and that just happened to him. and then when he ran into that family, you were just HOPING he had the turn around for the best and it wasn't he case... It's a shame too because if Rick and Governor had worked together, they could have done something big
He was a good man before and after the apocalypse it was only until that black bitch killed his last bit of hope he had the very last thing he had to hold on to and remember his past life once that was destroyed he went into vengance then to depression, then into acceptance but even after he went throu the awful feeling of acceptance and got a new life with new daughters and a new wife that was nothing but another painful memory of his little girl and his wife he was never the same his death and all the kills he had done can be blamed on that little fucker with dreadlox and a katana who decided to brutally ruin a mans life and create him into nothing but a insaine heartless killer
John Bob To be fair, I don't think the Governor was all their to begin with. before Michonne killed his daughter. considering He did what he had to do, which was kill the national guard for their weapons and supplies, and even having the fish tanks with the heads was bit of a nutcase scenario... However I will say that in her way of getting even with the Governor, killing what was once his daughter, she didn't have that right. and to top off mutilating him in the process... when you see him grieving over his daughter that is where is really does hit and you see someone who was practically 'untouchable' become less of a man, because of the personal attack.... I think in the end, when it came to the new family, he was about changing and then when he sees Lilly carrying the body of Meghan, that was it for him... It never became about acquiring a new home, it became a suicide run and he was going to take down as many people as possible before he was done in....
Let's pause from arguing over a fictional character to mention how well made this video is. This is fucking great! Aside from it maybe being slightly too long and having a few giveaway glitches when music is looped, it's superb! Well done.
I don't think he was lying during that negociation, he was taking the final solution if he really wanted to take the prison himself. But, he really shouldn't have killed Hershel though. That was insane.
Valentin Pyrvanov Well I think when he said "Liar" He was talking about himself because He told his group that Rick a/ Co would just leave. He knew that wasn't true. The whole time he was saying he didn't want a fight, yet we all know the Governor he wanted a fight. He knew what Rick said was true so he said "Liar" to himself, no one else heard him say it.
+HSP Scofield Shane was my favorite. It's too bad he died off I wanted to see him and Rick pull off some more Vegeta/Goku final flash Kamehameha shit and fuck up the walkers
oh my word...that was pieced together with perfection. It had the exact amount of dialogue sprinkled amongst the clips. It took us on an emotional rollercoaster. Well done. I stand in awe of your talent. It's such a shame though that it is so lengthy. Perhaps it would've been equally impressive broken in two. Hmmph, but what do I know. I'm going to miss this character. I had love for "The Gov.". He was such a multi-faceted man. Each time he held screen time, it was captivating, challenging and entertaining. Long live the Gov. Kudos to David Morrissey for amazing portrayal. I'm interested to see your take on my favourite character, Daryl. I smell another tribute coming. Here's fingers crossed.
Him dying....plus Shane, Merle...and all the other interesting characters, just killed the show. They still havent been able to replace those earlier season losses.
Negan wouldn't stand a chance. Negan has morals, where Governor has none. I compare him to Shane & Simon alot. They adapted to the new world more than Negan. Gov also fights dirty. Guy killed his own army to prove a point & bit off Merle's fingers. While Negan got redemption. There is no better TWD villain than Gov.
Wow absolutely fantastic job on this video! I still have goosebumps. I love how you showed all the different sides to him. He will always be the #1 badass to me of the whole show and the music they play with him makes an even bigger impact to me. I love my Andy Lincoln, but I have a big thing for David too! ;-)
Its amazing how we think of him as an evil man, when really…….the only dangerous thing about him, was that he wanted to keep his loved ones safe, no matter what the cost.
I wish he survived the prison and we got to follow his journey to DC, eventually him getting involved in the All Out War conflict, I could see him getting the rest of the Saviors under his control after Negan is imprisoned, and even manipulating Ezekiel and the Kingdom into going against Rick
David's version of the Governor was so much better than the version from the comics. His character added so much to the show. His death was, of course, inevitable but I really enjoyed his character. You almost have to feel sorry for him sometimes.
he makes negan look like a pussy and i truly mean it! lot of negan fanboys will disagree but it is right in front of your eyes! governor is a real villain and would kill negan with ease!
"Liar" That word whispered by the governor right before he raises Michonne's Katana towards Hershel gave me chills more than anything Alpha has ever said. And Alpha is one creepy motherf***er, lol.
I swear to God the first time I saw Philip Blake I immediately was reminded of Liam Neilson. Greatest most bad ass character ever! But man was he way too 'psychotic'. Haha
His name is actually Brian Blake. He took his brothers identity after he died. Evidence of this can be found in the book "Rise of the Governor" by "Robert Kirkman" and "Jay Bonansinga". This story takes place before we meet the governor in the television show and is credible due to the fact that The Walking Dead universe was created and regulated by Robert Kirkman and as one of the authors obviously approves the content.
btw fun fact hes actyal name is Brian but he took hes brothers name who used to run woodburry and ofcourse he didint like that idea so he killed him and became the leader
@@siivonen5577 Actually, It was not brian who killed his brother but their friend Nick Parsons. He found Phillip raping a girl, Nick killed him and then Brian killed Nick. After that he had very little. He adopted his brothers identity to hide his weak traits and past as he looked up to his brother. The novels end the same way though, apart from the fact that woodbury lives on without the Governor as their leader for a while.
+Light Scavenger The Governor was talking about himself when he said " Liar" to Rick. Since, he did comeback from all the horrible things he did. The things he had to do. It all fell apart when he arrived at Martinez's group Philip didn't want to take over but felt like he had no choice. He was the only one that could keep that group safe. Hell, the Governor tried to escape but those damn walkers on the road were blocking him He believed that it was impossible to come back and not be too far gone. The Governor was victim of this world just as much as everyone else. He never was evil. Just saw the world differently from his own experiences. Which was brutal
So I didn't start watching the show until season 4 with my boyfriend and I told him that I liked the governor. I've never seen someone give me such a weird look. Watched every season and now I know why he have me such a strange look lol.
"don't hurt my little girl" " NOOOOOOO!!!" for me the best part. I hate the gov and love him at the same time. Great acting all those different emotions.
the governor shows rick what he is capable of being, and what he has to avoid. that is what made him such a good vilen. he wasent a moster like the turmanits or the clamers, he was a good man who whent over the ege
If anyone is interested and a big fan of the Governor as much as i am. Im writing a series in which he is still alive. Already written the first story. Im on the second story with him at Alexandria and planning to build the Wolves
fun fact: the governor is actually not who he says he is, Penny (his zombie "daughter) is actually his brothers daughter, his brother was killed and "the governor" went crazy, he named himself Phillip (his bro. name) and his actual name is Brian, so everything that he says about his past is a lie, btw got this all from the book make by the creator of the comics and show :D
Comics (novels included) is a complete different universe compared to the show. Show's version is Philip Blake, and his daughter is Penny. He takes the name of his brother (Brian) after S3E16. So in the TV show its reversed from the comics/novels in a way. However there's loads of Novel references in the TV show. His plan book has Bobby, Nick, and Brian listed at the top of the dead people names. Lilly, Tara, and Meghan being a redone of April and Tara. Lilly being a new character like in the novels/comics, just redone for his redemption story. The Military massacre in S3E3 reminded me of the 3 military soldiers from ROTG. There's a few more but can't think of them atm
Magic Jack The show has him as Philip Blake, who later takes the name Brian Heriot. We don't get his brothers name in the show, but he is mentioned as being the 'good' guy'. The book is based off the comics, not the show.
+iSak so basically the governor became that way because of michonne killed a daughter that was already dead? you seen the video countless times and all you see is that it's michonne fault your unbelievable.
Losing his daughter and losing his eye pushed him over the edge. Before that, he could control his psychotic tendencies for the most part. After them, he steadily went further and further over the edge. Compare the episodes before his death to the ones after.
If the Governor had joined forces with Rick, Negan would not have been an issue. If Governor had a tank driven up to Negan's front door he would have been unstoppable.
I Don't know if you read these comments Jackson Hill but I just wanted to say that your tributes get better as the season kills more main characters off lol! In all seriousness though, this is by far your best work! Great music and video selection for the last few minutes of the tribute... truly epic! Fits the Governor perfectly, a true antagonist. A man driven by loss and desensitization due to a mental collapse from the trauma of losing his wife, daughter, and zombie daughter. He thought he was a hero... most villains do!
Philip Blake era meu personagem favorito 😢 mesmo ele estando morto ainda é meu personagem favorito ❤ seria tão fóda se ele participasse até a 8°temporada q seje porque eu acho que seria tão fóda se ele lutasse contra o Negan
I don't care what anyone says, governor was my favorite twd villain. He had a helluva history. Dead family, dead group, dead everyone. He had a reason to be mad. Negan did that shit for supplies. Yeah sure he killed a lot of people that were close like Hershel, but that's what makes a villain right? He was insane, badass, he even tried to become good, but once he learned he had nowhere else to go, there was nothing to do to fix his problems. I will love this man forever. Even if he had a zombie daughter he had reasons to keep her alive. He wanted to fix the zombie issue. He wanted a cure for one he truly loved. Idk man he's way better that Negan

Lilly, Tara, and Meghan being a redone of April and Tara. Lilly being a new character like in the novels/comics, just redone for his redemption story. The Military massacre in S3E3 reminded me of the 3 military soldiers from ROTG. There's a few more but can't think of them atm
haha this is true.. when i finished the books i was like omfg!!! really really gud plot twist
+BrickDevil Tributes so who is the governor? in the book rise of the governor, is it philip or brian?
Magic Jack The show has him as Philip Blake, who later takes the name Brian Heriot. We don't get his brothers name in the show, but he is mentioned as being the 'good' guy'. The book is based off the comics, not the show.
The Governor Only Did War Because Maybe Michonne Killed The Governor's Daughter
racist bitch
+iSak so basically the governor became that way because of michonne killed a daughter that was already dead? you seen the video countless times and all you see is that it's michonne fault your unbelievable.
+Micheal Taylor Well the governor still cared about his daughter even though she was dead :p
Losing his daughter and losing his eye pushed him over the edge. Before that, he could control his psychotic tendencies for the most part. After them, he steadily went further and further over the edge. Compare the episodes before his death to the ones after.
I like The Governor he was the best.
Another awesome tribute by Jackson the man!
I would put The Last Pale Light In The West
He LOOKS and SOUNDS like *LIAM NEESON*!
That's why I find him hot...
IF The GUV had joined with Rick they would have been an awesome force.
This is fucking great!:D well done man
I love the governor ( David Morrissey) so much he did an amazing and outstanding performance as the governor, I wish he could have lasted longer
Keep up the good work. You make great vids.
man jackson makes really great tributes in my opinion
This is still the best tribute .. I think you understood him quite well.
Philip Blake era meu personagem favorito 😢 mesmo ele estando morto ainda é meu personagem favorito ❤ seria tão fóda se ele participasse até a 8°temporada q seje porque eu acho que seria tão fóda se ele lutasse contra o Negan
RIP Phillip Blake.
for me the best character and good song
Goddamnit, I miss him. Negan is balls.
I loved that shot at 7:35
He is the best! ❤️❤️❤️💔😭
Nice Video ! Will you do one about Hershel?
I'M ON IT !
Jackson Hill yeaah :D
+Jackson Hill can you make mearel video
Jackson Hill your video,s freaking rock
originally he was called Brian Blake, when his brother died, he took his name and his zombified daughter so srrx for my bad english, I am from Germany
the governer was one of the best characters in the whole show
and he had a lot of meaning which made him good and bad
