I love the little details like the ever-so-slightly out-of-tune treble line at 0:22. As if it's saying hey, I know it's catchy and all, but don't get too comfortable - this is _Metroid_ you know.
Doesn't matter where I am or what remix it is- when Green Brinstar comes on, I gotta bust a move. That said, excellent work, I can't commend this project enough.
Geeeez man, this is top shelf. Really clean production, and an amazingly unique yet authentic texture. You've done awesome stuff in the mixing and mastering side of this. Those reverb settings are JUUUUST right. I haven't seen you round on the tubes much, have you introduced yourself to any one doing this sort of work? I think people like Ace Waters and Steven Morris would really appreciate the work you're doing.
hey thanks! I haven't really sought out that kinda thing yet, but might in future! just checked out your keapora gaebora video, super cool! the whole idea of electronic wind instruments is so interesting, I've never really seen them in use properly before!
dude, I can't get over how good these are. if someone had shown me this claiming that boards of canada had covered super metroid's soundtrack, I would have believed it without blinking an eye. this is such high quality stuff. I love you.
This gives me the same goosebumps I got the first time I went down that elevator back in the 90's. From the desolation of the surface world to the strangeness of a subterranean fungal jungle, a perfect moment in the game and this is a great rendition!
Nothing short of amazing, this is my favorite one. Pretty bummed out I didn't find this sooner.. Whenever I've dreamt of this game in the past, Brinstar is always the area I found myself in. Your synth effects really capture the imagination..
matrixsynth Well, the people that hate Patreon users appear to hate them because they think it's users may not deserve to be paid for the work. In Luminist's case for example, those people might argue that, because Luminist did not compose the Metroid music him/herself, he/she shouldn't be paid for these arrangements of the music. It's a bullshit argument though, because Patreon works like donations (as I understand it), but sometimes people get irrationally angry over it. I guess I should clarify, I'd love it if Luminist opened a Patreon. I was making a sort of joke is all.
Holy moly, I gotta say, Im loving it +Luminist Releasing a whole album when you're done? Man, Id even go as far as see what Vinyl options could be out there for Physical.
I accidentally ran into this channel just a bit ago when listening to the kraid's lair music for metroid, and this is probably the best remake of this song ever. Didn't think ANYTHING could match the power of the original!
2:09 saving is for chumps! In all seriousness though I love these! I just beat Super Metroid and I've been looking to buy an MS-20 Mini and this video just might've persuaded me to buy one, fantastic work!
Wow Luminist, what an amazing remix of an awesome proof-of-concept song. The synth sounds are just so smooth. Keep up the spectacular work! P.S., if you do make more Super Metroid work, please make a credits theme (even though that will require making all the songs before that). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ You would handle it so well.
yes, you can check my channel if you want some vanilla/hacks speedruns/TAS :D and still already nice if you are trying to do it quick ! Next step is learning :p
If you put this whole album on sale, I would buy it to support another, maybe a album of all your favourites or Fusion/AM2R synth. I'm interested to hear your take on Ancient Norfair.
Some genuine criticism: There's way too much general EQ applied at 3Kish. You can even hear it on the bass in the beginning. Red Soil sounds a lot better.
the wooden sounding percussion is samples from a Buchla Music Easel (www.residentadvisor.net/feed/96161) and the hats / snare are samples from Wave Alchemy's MS20 Drum pack. it's all got extra layers of processing in the track (distortion, filters, delays etc)
I'll be making a demo reel to show off some of my layout work. I'm a big fan of your work and of Metroid, and was wondering if you would let me use one of your Metroid Resynth tracks as background music for the reel? I would credit you, of course!

Like, when you reach Brinstar?
@@dglesterhardunkichud4017 I reach brinstar every time I hear the theme. Brinstar is in my heart.
Those five low, almost gurgly notes that repeat throughout the song are really satisfying to listen to.
I mean, that's the song. but so good,
Sounds kinda like collisio chaos US
Synth music always seems to have weird satisfying sounds like that, they all also have incredible bass-y sounds in them.
As a fan of this game even 20+ years later, I say that your tracks capture the spirit of the game more than almost any other medium.
thank you!
Best Brinstar Green I've heard. Fits the game. If you took what the SNES song "meant to be" and realized it, you get this.
If there's ever a Metroid movie, I hope you score it.

I am getting some real Summoning Salt vibes. Great Remix Luminist, keep on rocking!

This is my favorite song from Super Metroid and this rendition made it 10 times better.
Analog synth music along with Metroid games is the perfect soundtrack. The music fits these games like a glove.
This gives me the same goosebumps I got the first time I went down that elevator back in the 90's. From the desolation of the surface world to the strangeness of a subterranean fungal jungle, a perfect moment in the game and this is a great rendition!
Went on a bike ride the other night to this song and it was nothing short of amazing. Great job, love your choice of synths on this!

I'm really excited for the completion of this OST, love your work Luminist, greetings from Chile!
Im always boppin to this track, even in the og
You should set up a Patreon account to fund these.
matrixsynth or Bandcamp instead of iTunes.
matrixsynth Careful lol. There are some people in the world who would lose their minds over someone opening up a Patreon.
Why?
matrixsynth Well, the people that hate Patreon users appear to hate them because they think it's users may not deserve to be paid for the work. Interesting points. Thanks!
Dude you should totally put this on your spotify. This is some of your finest work
Holy moly, I gotta say, Im loving it +Luminist
Releasing a whole album when you're done? Man, Id even go as far as see what Vinyl options could be out there for Physical.
I can't get enough of the out-of-tune chimes. This remix elevates this piece even higher than it was before.
I accidentally ran into this channel just a bit ago when listening to the kraid's lair music for metroid, and this is probably the best remake of this song ever. Didn't think ANYTHING could match the power of the original!
This would fit perfectly in one of the more action oriented levels in the original Mass Effect.
Agreed!
Your music is absolutely pristine. Thank you for sharing your work.
2:09 saving is for chumps! In all seriousness though I love these! I just beat Super Metroid and I've been looking to buy an MS-20 Mini and this video just might've persuaded me to buy one, fantastic work!
Was waiting for this one and it’s glorious.
Great remix of my favorite SM track. Respect
THIS FITS SO FUCKING WELL
My all-time favorite game, and the soundtrack really comes alive with those VCOs. Great work again

Been waiting for this funk since you started the project. You did not disappoint.
Music to my ears
This is nothing short of greatness!!
this is perfection
In the gameplay
You keep seeing save rooms
You go into the rooms
Stand for a second
And don’t save
SAVE
YO
DAMN
GAME
That would interrupt the soundtrack
this is such a jam omg
It's rather criminal that I didn't become aware of this until 5 years after it was uploaded.
This is so good
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, GREAT WORK
Amazing! i am loving your work.
I was waiting for this one, my new favourite, better than Kraid's Lair on the NES OST.
Your remakes are great. I would love to play Metroid with your music in the background.
This is freaking amazing! Keep them coming 🙏🏻
I've been waiting for this song!
We need a MSU1 patch with this soundtrack.
This should be in metroid prime 4, its just sooo badass! 5/5
FIRE AF YOOOO 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love your remakes. Thank you.
Fantastic!
A penny saved is a penny earned
SOLID!
Not Even Mockballing ! D:
But as always, great job :)
Dude's playing casually, why would he need to mockball?
For FUN :D that's just some funny joke about speedrunning, since i am a speedrunner of Supe metroid !
Shoot, you run Super Metroid? Nice. I usually just just play casually, and if I do rush, I don't use the routes or anything.
yes, you can check my channel if you want some vanilla/hacks speedruns/TAS :D and still already nice if you are trying to do it quick ! Next step is learning :p
Amazing.
Your Metroid stuff is great man!
This is great.
Holy actual.
Omgggg so good
Awesome! Keep it up!
*jaw dropped*
This is so fucking good, holy fuck. You are very talented.
Please consider encoding the source files directly in .flac! I'd love to have them.
If you put this whole album on sale, I would buy it to support another, maybe a album of all your favourites or Fusion/AM2R synth. I'm interested to hear your take on Ancient Norfair.
I can't sell this one, but the old one is avail on itunes or apple music - check out the links in the video description :)
I forgot to edit it, I was going to say if you could put this album on sale.
THIS IS IT CHIEF
I never liked the original, but this one its great

FUNKEH
Fuk yea
_NUT_
i love these remakes but I'm sad because this project is incomplete i can't have a proper MSU-1 patch
Crap. I was wondering about that.
Great stuff, I like the drums a lot! what are they?
the wooden sounding percussion is samples from a Buchla Music Easel (www.residentadvisor.net/feed/96161)
and the hats / snare are samples from Wave Alchemy's MS20 Drum pack. it's all got extra layers of processing in the track (distortion, filters, delays etc)
Luminist I wouldn't have imagined you could get hts and snares like that out of an MS 20, it sounds really good! Wish I had gotten one of those minis.
I'll be making a demo reel to show off some of my layout work. I'm a big fan of your work and of Metroid, and was wondering if you would let me use one of your Metroid Resynth tracks as background music for the reel? I would credit you, of course!
go for it!
Hi Luminist, I was wondering if you happen to have the super metroid resynthesized files in lossless form by any chance?
You big into vangelis?
Are the drum sounds also from the ms 20?
Ho. Ly. Shee. YITT.
Hey Luminist, do you mind if I use these tracks for a Super Metroid Remake? I'll put you in the credits.
go for it! just keep in mind nintendo holds the copyright and not me :)
Thanks.
Hey, just wondering how the remake is coming along?
Until now, I didn't like Brinstar Depths remixes
Well, I mean it worked for the original Metroid, but Super's music's supposed to be organic.
i don't like it
Amazing!
