hell yeah, I'd throw down $$$ for a version of the Metroid 2 soundtrack. It has some 'songs' that are just weird sound effects that would be perfect for the vintage synth treatment.
Can you recommend old sci-fi movies that sound like this? I know you're right and I've seen old movies like that, but for the life of me I can't remember specific examples.
It'd be cool, if the ever do make a Metroid movie, the opening theme should sound like this, then transition to sounding more modern and cinematic. That'd be cool imo.

These synth remakes make me want a Metroid game with a tone and atmosphere similar to Alien. Well, moreso anyway. They could have the title drop do the same thing they did for Alien!
Yeah having listened to this and the other tracks on this channel I now really want a new Metroid done in this kind of retro style. Basically like how Alien Isolation completely nailed everything about the look, feel and sound design of the original Alien film, but for Metroid. And it works as Alien was the inspiration for Metroid in the first place. This is one of those "Didn't know i wanted it but now i must have it" situations now.
Man, I was feeling nostalgic and decided to listen to the Metroid theme. Just stumbled across this by accident. This was amazing. Very true to the original. Casted from my phone to my surround sound. What an epic time. Thank you for this.
This is BY FAR the best Metroid remake EVAR! You totally NAILED the 80's synth with its slight analogue FM imperfections. It sounds like some of Kitaro's work. I hope you can do the entire OST in this style... 80s synth.
I always find myself going back to this masterpiece-it’s just so beautifully recreated. It starts out ominous like in Ridley Scott’s “Alien”. Then the next part comes up where it is so hauntingly somber, yet hopeful like in the original. After the buildup, it goes back to being menacing as before. When the midway point of the song comes up, I get chills from the atomosphere, and I just tear up with how gorgeous it all sounds! Listening to it with headphones with such a good bass is where it’s all at!
I just watched Alien a couple hours ago, and by God, I feel like I'm still watching. This sounds like it was ripped straight from a 1980's sci-fi classic (I mean, it was, in a sense, but you know what I mean). All the kudos, mate, this is a joy to listen to.
THIS GIVES ME SHIVERS EVERY TIME!!! It sounds like I'm about to watch something by Ridley Scott back in the early 80s and I love that! Really takes that inspiration from Alien and goes leaps and bounds with it. Thank you for blessing my ears with something so terrifyingly awesome!
This makes my spine shiver almost every time; and I've never even played the original Metroid. (So I can only imagine how powerful this reworking must be for true fans.)
Love all of your analog synth remakes, they're all so good. If Nintendo decides to remake Metroid 1, I think they should hire you to do the soundtrack.
The scenario, setting and music were inspired by Alien and other dark sci-fi movies, so this cover I can class as the most appropriate to the time period.
Isn't Metroid inspired at the very least by Alien? The main protagonist is Ripley. Ironically one of the bosses in Metroid is Ridley. Ridley the "d" is flipped and becomes Ripley. Ridley resembles a Alien Queen.
For some reason these tracks make me imagine that Metroid got a movie adaptation in the late 80's or early 90's, with Jim Henson monsters a' la Dark Crystal. I can practically see it behind my eyes when i listen.
I love how the slight upbeat part of the song sounds like an SOS radio, communicating hope into an open vast space, hoping whoever hears it will respond
Not only did you remake the music for my favorite video game series, you also just sold me on an analog synth product I didn't know I needed for my studio until now
One can dream that nintendo would turn Metroid into a movie with this aesthetic. It's highly unlikely that they would ever make something so dark, but it would work so well.
If they make a movie for metroid just like what they did with the super mario movie they should make this the title theme or the backstory theme of samus
For anyone reading this, these remakes are magical and tragically underrated. These sound so natural and faithful to the original music, it just sounds like it was meant to be this way. Please share these songs!

I'm super glad that there's always people out there doing what they can to properly honor this franchise for it's 30th, even if Nintendo is putting it on the back burner again (just like they did after Super Metroid). Please, PLEASE do more of these NES Metroid tracks! And maybe, possibly in the future break out these synths for a remake of the Nightmare from Metroid Fusion?
What a compliment! I'm glad everyone's enjoying it so much, it's fun recreating these just for that reason. We'll see what happens next - definitely like the Fusion soundtrack a lot too!

sounds like it’d fit well in Metroid dread
