This is why we were told that if you crash in the middle of the field, cover yourself up and don’t get up to try to get out of the way. Less chance of getting hit if you are not moving! Of course, I never had this problem because I was always off the back...
Given how many crashes and injurys happened at this crit, just finishing without getting hurt is quite an achievement and 12th place isn't bad at all, way to go.

We were there for the qualifying heats only but following the final races on my phone that evening the redhookcrit site was good about updating results in real-time lap by lap. With about 5 decades of fixed gear/no brakes experience, in the real world of auto traffic, I srsly wonder why no one mentions crank length. Are the courses so fine-tuned?
Real world, your cornering is a trade-off with gearing. Trust me.
I run 165 cranks so I can get around any corner! Fixed gear racing is always a compromise in terms of the gearing :)
