Hey that's me in the let's roast skinsuit. I was cracking my back. 🤷🏻♂️ Also this is awesome! My front wheel got clipped first hairpin but finished in 20s still 🙇🏻♂️ love watching your videos. I got linked to this by a local here in chicago. Big up!!!! And glad you didn't die.
So nice having this! I feel like the fixed gear scene demonstrates how cycling events can be fun for espectators. Love that! Cycling can be so much more entertaining.
I had one fixie bike when i was younger and it wasnt even a real fixie. It was an old huffy and i took the wheel from an old exercise bike that used the same chain and sproket setup bicycles use. Did some modifications and got the wheel to fit on the huffy. I raced people and won every time and they always said it was because i had a fixed back sprocket and that i was cheating. Ended up loosing that bike when i tried to walk it across a frozen bridge in kentucky during the ice storm of 2009. Slipped with the bike and since there was no guard rails i fell about 15 ft into a frozen creek below and i had no way to get it out and was freezing cold ready to get home. Walked about 2.5 miles home soaking wet and was completely frozen by the time i got home. Til this day i still miss that bike and would always love to have/make another just for the fun of it. Im into mountain biking now hitting trails and what not and own a trek 820 single track from 2013 as well as a few other bikes that are somewhat cheap. Id love to ride a fixie to get to and from work though. Once i get up and going i dont like to stop or slow down and in my city they have bike paths that are 15-20 miles long leading you to specific locations around town. No cars or traffic just smooth 10ft wide path for bikes and walkers only. A fixie would be perfect for it. Thanks for bringing back some good memories i forgot these style bikes existed. This is the first time ive thought about that style bike in 10+ years.
🥶 No Brakes whatttt The Heck this brings me memories from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 back in 1988,1989 when I used to race BMX downhill a 28% grade with no Brakes 😳 😂 I don’t know how the Heck I survived that for a few years till I got here to USA and started doing Triathlons Wowo is a big difference Great video guys 👍
Well, I *ENJOYED* *THAT*!.... Old roadie from the early 1980's here. We always had a fixed gear bike, - some old long dropout road frame, with a cog screwed on in place of the freewheel. Couldn't always use a lock nut, to keep a straight chain line. So we'd crank up the biggest hill, to tighten the cog down. Then, *FLY* down the other side, at like 150+ cadence. Every serious roadie-to-be had a fixie. For form, and for spin. Hey, if you can do 150+ cadence, and keep a smooth pedal stroke, well,....Yeah, I really liked the video, and c'mon, man, you gotta TRAIN on a FIXIE. Cat 1 fitness alone won't cut it. (He said *HIPSTER* *NASCAR*! LOL....)....KEEP UP the GOOD WORK!
Heck being used to brakes and having gears and doing a race like this, uffff!!! Difficult as hell!!! Makes you respect these guys who do crits on fixies for sure!! Real cool to watch:-) :-) :-)
hey you should try your first fixie crirt at the last day of the inteligentsia cup. The circuit is a flat easy square. Some hitters show up but it isnt as tense as this crit here in the video. Just so you get to try it out. great video!!
Great Video! Just got off the langster and needed a fixie fix. Ive been training fixed just to survive the fyxation open this year at intelligentsia... can't wait!
What I have learned by riding fixed, I cannot ride fixed... I have huge problems with it, especially when stopping! And you need much more arm muscles than usual! :D
The Major Taylor Velodrome is an open-air velodrome in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S., named for 1899 cycling world champion Major Taylor. The 333.34 m track with 28 degree banked turns and 9 degree straights.
I’m guessing the cranks are big in these kinds of bike and racing are to big. So skids are slow or take a lot of effort… or the clips maybe? I ride nothing but straps and a 40 something with a 16 or 18 cog. I’m curious
Be careful with mtb pedals and cleats mate. Easy to clip in easy to rip out I always say. You don't want to skid in an emergency and have a foot pop outta your pedal. I've sit out the past year because of that mistake
christopher beall that’s what I used too. I felt it was the right gear. My fitness is not as high as it could be... I finished 20th in the B race and had a lot of fun.
@@TigerTT just get singlespeed, all the benefits of fixed gear without the downsides... fixed gear only benefit is less crashing in the velodrome and that little bit of weight saving from no brakes.
@@albr4 and it's fun and you learn how to control the bike better and keep pedaling all the time and not have to worry about derailleur maintenance and issues.
@Kleiner Helfer I agree, but UCI and the manufacters of bicycles setup the sport to allow mass commercials for different frames and tech. So having the same bikes would mean that UCI would have to provide those bikes from one or 2 manufactor. Track cycling is the closest it comes to having the same bikes, even then some mods and tech are allowed. Still good to see old school fixed gear!!
Good video, but why in the hell does your teammate talk like a 16 year old girl with vocal fry? 9:10 "I"m hedging my bets with my fitness essentiallllllyyyyy". If you talked like that, I wouldn't be able to watch your videos.

Also come to intelligentsia and do the fixie circle Crit as well! Cheers. See y'all there.
Did anyone tell you, you look like PSY?
@@ricktan5663 lol. I actually don't look like him but only with sunglasses and a suit
I'll be at Intelli, along with a few teammates. We're not doing the fixie stuff though, just p/1/2.
bro you look like me after three redbulls
"Hipster NASCAR." That is an amazing coinage.
Hipster NASCAR, I can't stop laughing....
So nice having this! I feel like the fixed gear scene demonstrates how cycling events can be fun for espectators. Love that! Cycling can be so much more entertaining.
No resting the legs, no brakes and no sudden stops. These guys have no heart.
Yes Max. We've all left it home, crits are not for the faint of heart
they have great hearts
And their eggs is strong enough
Yeah, it’s not for pussies.
no gears

That guy in the "Let's Roast Cycles" jersey... that is PSY of Gangnam Style fame
Looks like the cocaine is starting to kick in for him. Probably took too much pre-workout powder.
bikesbeersnbeats! Took as in sniffed😂
😂
Funny part is this is probably true
Hipster NASCAR, I just died :D This has to be one of the most accurate descriptions of anything ever.

would be fun to see some more fxed gear crits ! Something different but still competitive
All the homies in 1 video. Love it! More fixed gear stuff!!
I've been binge watching and I laugh so hard at these commentaries
I was told that I would never ride my fixie again after buying my first road bike. Riding fixed is still the best rush almost 10 years later

Awesome!! we should have mored fixed crits in this channel!
So, it appears that striped socks are a requirement for these. Sarcasm aside, it looks really awesome. Thanks for sharing!
When you see a guy at the start line doing that....AVOID.
Gave me anxiety 😂
this is awesome. Liked the video before I even watched it
4:20 😂😂😂 yeah fixed gear is no joke
gas-station FC-love to hear your exploits! Go boy!
Didn't even know that this exists 😍 loving it

another great video
I love the new GoPro. The stabilization is so good.

Lol I'm having the same problem going from track to roadie. Coasting and breaks feels totally different even though it's almost the same
I road my buddy's fixie and came close to crashing in the first Mile riding it!
Thanks for posting this
@ 3:22 that guy dove in front of you hard.
wristpin38 Ikk i was thinking the same
I ride free wheel and fixie I recommend riding both equally but fixie maybe a little more so u can get the experience
Man i went full send towards the crash
Good job and so fun! If only they would take out those nasty hairpin turns I would do more of these
I agree, but its all part of the fixie fun!
0:57 I saw PSY...
0:26 Bill oriely voice : will do it live

It’s funny cause I was there too supporting two of my friends in this race

I would show up there with a 80s Peugeot custom fixie with bull horns
They only allow drop bars to race

That’s how I slow down I have enough force that I backpedal I wish we had something like that where I from
beards & bucks where are you from?
Indiana and I’m the only one that rides track

Peter Staubs yeah Indy is about four hours from me
LOOOOL 1ST clip
God I miss this
so you had a ferrari engine put into a VW bug
Whoever added that hair pin turn in the race should never be allowed to design a race ever again
the one black jersey in your back is shaking hehe
What was your gear ratio?

Jeff, do you ride at Hellyer at all?
Jeff's coming out this year what
Let's roast guy is nuts.
Do you race at Tour of America's Dairyland?
No but we're doing Intelligentsia Cup again this year!
No brake?
That isn't a voice, but a cell phone vibration
The hell with the branding fixed gears to hipster bikes? Means that people who joined the first ever tour de france are hipsters?
What gear ratio did you use?
magebrin 49x15!
christopher beall that’s what I used too. I felt it was the right gear. My fitness is not as high as it could be... I finished 20th in the B race and had a lot of fun.
Yea came in way too hot but he could have tried to skip stop to the inside of the corner and whip it around
wich gear do you use?
vincent martlé 49x15!
Is that psy at the start
that guy is a Roaster !!!
I didn't know Tony Hinchcliffe was a cyclist.
Dylan Buffington is a great rider!

Do more fixed gear vids
Did I just hear “understanded” (understood)
Lmao I'v raced the Let's Roast guy before
Love it lol. Gotta get competitive enough to do some in depth commentary here lols
Ehhh... No I'm not into fixed gear, just weird feeling to me😅

I'm not into fixie bikes either, for my daily commuting at least lol but its kinda interesting watching fixie races.
