  • The trip to NYC from Canada for the Red Hook Crit in Brooklyn has always been an adventure for the Canadian fixed gear community. Groups of riders have been making the trip every spring since 2012. It is still cold weather here in Canada at the time of the race in NYC and ends up being the first race of the year many Canadian riders. It is not the first race of the year for Mr. Tyrrell as he now has the opportunity to travel the world racing his Undefeated From State Bicycle Company. Josh has become the standard for high level fixed gear racing in Montreal and Canada. He is chill, collected, and knows what it takes to be an elite level rider. Enjoy the short documentary film about the annual trip to NYC for the RHC and what it takes to be competitive in the growing world of Fixed Gear Crits!

    The pace motorcycle, a Ducati, would not start because the kickstand was down. Ducati's have a safety feature that prevents the bike from starting with the kick stand down. Apparently the driver was unfamiliar with the bike or forgot. I was there and watched it happen. It is sad how a stupid mistake can impact so many people.

    Man, the minor depression after a crash hits close to home. It's devastating to crash and then be totally out of the race for something you could not control :/ Even to crash when you're not in a race will leave you questioning if cycling is what you want to do. But we ride for the fun of it, to get out and just put the hours and time in to gather the muscle strength. Great video, left inspired

    i deeply respect that this guy's able to laugh it off after that happens at a race like that. I would've been pissed and a hermit for the rest of the trip. It usually takes me several days to recover mentally from a bad crash.

    Dude said "A regular life with three kids and a house or be an elite athlete, you gotta choose" lol Peter Sagan got a wife and all that is one of the top cyclist in the world. Many pro peloton riders have everything this dude said was "regular" yet they still show up and destroy the racing scene. A real "elite" athlete would handle both.

    • @sanshinron
      @sanshinron 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      You can't expect someone that rides a fixie to understand that. Plus he thinks he's elite. Elites don't ride fixies in the street.

      most "state" bikes don't come with carbon forks (where this one failed), and even if they do, stay out of a top speed corner crash, and i think you'll minimize damage.

    This type of bike racing is stupid,because so much can happen that is out of your control,I just came from someone elses channel about the Red Hook Crit,a guy broke his elbow,another wont need to bother shaving his left side of his face for like the rest of his life.I know how he feels about his hip,as injured mine too,but I was alittle older,and I can tell you that swelling takes a long time to go.

    I have since then, this year, Feb 25th, visited your shop and purchased some product. i.e., Miche Rims & Hubs, with Freedom SuperSlicks, Miche Seat Pillar, , IZUMI Chain Omnium Crank, on a MASI frame (I had this frame since 2010 new in a box. It's a CrMo frame decals and clear coated, no paint on metal). Still have to purchase a Saddle though... Any thoughts from the fixie community?
