I got m50 but returned and got the sl3. Battery life is way way better in sl3. Also I did not like how m50 holds in hands as it is very small in my medium hands and I was not comfortable shooting with it and always felt it is going to fall. The bigger body for sl3 gives more confidence and comfort. Quality of photos, I think both are equal for a consumer user like me.

Thanks for the video. I have a bunch of cameras.. Canon, Sony, Panasonic, etc. I'm always looking for the one that hit the sweet spot. What did it for me on the SL3 was the EF mount. I'm actually using this for digiscoping through a massive wildlife spotting scope. The adaptor lets you connect any EF body directly to the spotting scope which then becomes your lens. You have to manually focus, but once you are locked in, you can see for miles and miles. Learning about the battery life was great. I'm always having to carry a bag of batteries in the field. Maybe this will really help. I hope it all goes well and now I'm going to go look for some of those affordable but awesome EF lenses you were talking about!

I went with the sl3 because of the battery life, clean HDMI out, and auto focus. m50 was an obvious no for me
The battery of the m50 is not too bad. It lasts me over 4 hours shooting photos and also recording videos. Not that I use it all 4 hours straight, but you get my point, I have 2 batteries and I could literally go all day with it without worrying about the battery.

I have a t3i, but I would like something lighter and smaller for street photography, house parties, and portrait work.
So I was debating between getting the two cameras, and I’ve been thinking about getting the M 50 for a while, but the battery life being crap and the no clean HDMI is what is shoving me over to buy the SL3 instead of the M50. Considering that I am a live streamer, who dabbles occasionally with blogs, although I usually shoot those on a G7X. The SL3 is probably going to be the one to go for because of the clean HDMI

I have never bought a camera before but I was looking at this to be my first camera. Seeing that this camera seems like it was made for beginners makes it seems like a great purchase. But I do not want to spend 700 on a camera and then outgrow it quickly if that makes sense.
Buy used with warranty. I bought the body used last month for 200 usd.

I'm more of a fan of the M50. I have one and my friend has the SL3, after using an EVF going back to a standard VF is tough since I'm so used to having a perfect WYSIWYG view of what my photo will look like. I also use a bunch of vintage lenses and I feel like that would be cool for beginners since you can get adapters and cheap vintage glass to hone your skills on. Also, with the SL3 you can't use a speedbooster which for a crop sensor camera is a really nice thing to have. I don't have one yet but I've heard good things about them.I really wish the m50 had that clean HDMI out though -_- Hopefully Magic lantern soon!
SL3 is still easier and more versatile then my friends M50...his looks like Sure shot, SL3 streams longer, 4k vid output, EF\EFS lens no reducer req'd...SL3 IMO, works gr8 for me for a small\light DSLR from my prev T6i that felt like a brick around my neck after an hr.. For entry level, I prefer my SL3 & features
How is it in low light?
I like the S L3. It's a simple fact that could use other lenses.
This video was a little confusing because in the middle you said not the get the SL3 but in the end you said that’s the one you would get which is it?

I know I'm kind of late commenting on the video but I was wondering if the SL3 would be preferred over the M50 for filming small workouts at the gym or lifting weights. there wouldn't be a whole lot of movement going on. I am a complete beginner with cameras as I used to shoot my videos on my iPhone. Thanks! Great video.
You can use Your mobile phone, i.e. ios or android, to control the SLR3 remotely Using canons Mobile app
I had mine for over a year now. Lateral Upgrade from my 100D/SL1 because of my existing EF/EF-S Lenses. Still quite good in most situations like cosplay portraits, toy photos, pseudo macro, landscape.. etc.. Though i did felt it being slow when i first tried planespotting & borrowed my friend's 70-300 USM II.. but still good enough & managed to make decent frames of airliners taking off and landing.

Your closing remarks helped me make a decision. I really don't want to deal with adapters, and I also won't be able to afford that. Not right now, especially if it reduces my potential shots too. I just want something that works well out of the box, until I have earned enough to get a camera out of that price range.

I bought the SL3 and am very pleased with it. I have a fair number of EF lenses some of them were pricey and I have no desire to use an adapter.

I’m still on the SL2 and thought about upgrading to either SL3 or m50. However, I’m likely not going to upgrade to neither of them. The m50 just feels too small in my hands and the sl3 is not a huge upgrade from my sl2. I’ve also realized that full frame mirrorless is the way up so now considering eos rp or maybe even eos r. however, if I had to choose between the sl3 or m50 then I’d probably go with whichever I’d find cheapest in the used marketplace. Both are great beginner cams so you can’t go wrong.
Just got my sl3 as my first camera into the world of photography. Setting up the bluetooth to be able to transfer my photos to my phone and then changing all the settings to match your suggestions to try it out. Thank you so much for this video!!

I can’t speak on the Nikon as I have no experience with it but the SL3 takes some amazing pictures. At least when paired with the nifty fifty or the EF 85mm f/1.8
I currently film with a GH5 and I was contemplating upgrading and switching to the Sony a7s iii when it's released but then the Arsenal 2 was released on Kickstarter and I decided to buy it. I realized that neither the a7s iii nor the GH5 were currently supported so I decided that instead of upgrading to the a7s iii I would just buy a photography camera that has good specs that can work with all my current canon glass and that's the sl3. Plus on top of that, I stream on twitch so it's going to be nice having reliable autofocus on stream instead of using my GH5. It's definitely a no brainer for me and I can do without the m50. Thanks for the review! Helped make my decision easier.

I have owned both cameras, the m50 produces a cleaner image even though the sensors are the same. I guess the sensor being mirrorless makes it look better. I'm not sure. I prefer the m50s images and video too.
@@godisgood7334 it’s not that it has a better sensor but simply because of the lens and also the software is more advanced and high tech while the sl3s is old fashioned
Battery life, autofocus performance, uncomfortable being handheld
Will get the SL3…I am a novice and don’t want to have to learn about changing lenses, etc. although I do video my husband on his motorcycle so think it will be fine. Thank you great video!
For me, the M50 makes more sense. I already have the M50.with the regular adapter with EF and EF-S glass 🤗. Coming soon, the 90D.
I am hoping the new sl3 coming on Thursday is lighter and easier for arthritic hands.

I am planning to buy my very first camera tomorrow but with all the reviews I almost wanna give up...Been using high-end phones for my photography hobbies and were asked to do photo shoots but I find it awkward using a mobile phone so I did a review for entry levels like fujifilm X-T200, Canon M50, Canon SL3, Sony a6000, etc. and I honestly can't come up with my final choice (although X-t200 seems like the best option so far) any output?

What do you want to use your camera for? I got a M50 beacuse I wanted a smal camera as I have it with me on my motorcykel. That said I have been looking at the SL3 more thanks to a more sturdy grip and better battery life. Tried the SL3 vs the m50 and they liked them both for photos.

From what I've seen, I'd say go with the sl3, plus it's got better battery life. Which is important if shooting vlogs.

Hi,I am using Nikon 5500crop and Nikond750 FF, I have this camera gifted by my friends ,but I am really surprised once I used. It's autofocus system is much better than Nikon 5500.,I am using a 50 mm. 1.8 lense , create crispy images. So if you are a enthusiastic photographer, you can go for canon 250 d.specially portraits. But Nikon 5600 is an all-round

The main reason I picked the sl3 is for the clean hdmi. While the there is an eos web utility it crops and degrades the picture.
WHY should I pay more $ for the Canon SL3, Rather than the Canon T7 (2000D) ?
Better battery / better flip screen / better video quality / better auto focus at videos and pics / smaller with the same grip / better vlogging experience

I would say both will give you fairly similar results. But the dual kit would be good for just having a lot of focal lengths. But also depends on what you are shooting?

I bought the Sl3 because I don't need 24 fps, I don't caree about external flashes, need clean HDMI out and when I bought it, I got it cheaper than the M50. But I would have bought de M50 Mark ii If it had come out at that time for the clean HDMI out feature.

Yes .. Godox tt350c or tt650c, those are the ones I use in my sl3, there are a couple others as well
