My first dslr and I'm say its great. Not advanced user, most of the time shooting my daughter, walks and some landscape. Love the image quality, love the video(1080/30fps) and love the how i feel it in my hand. Great touch screen, easy operating and controls. Connectivity also good. Idk why so hate here for that camera. Find it absolutely gorgeous for my needs. So clear your priorities and needs bfor put buls*its later. Camera is dope and works fantastic.

Agreed! And by "beginner", let's cut the crap. Unless you're a professional using a 5000 bucks + equipment it's more or less all the same. It's a very decent camera. If you want a professional full frame, etc, pay for it.

Decent? For me just perfect, they forgot to say about the most important thing which is the price. You get plenty for the price and other cameras? Nikkon 3500 is just worse, it doesn’t have 4k (maybe it s a little bit useless but i m sure 4K cameras will have better reselling price), oh you can buy in this price new (but old) pentax, like from 2014 or something? 550 dollars? Just buy Canon, no choice, either 250D if you want DSLR or M50 if you want mirrorless.

I work in a camera store and whenever someone tells me they just want to learn how to use a camera I always show them the SL2 and it’s probably become the camera I’ve sold the most, the user interface and the way the camera shows you how adjusting the settings will affect the end result is a huge deal to people and it’s by far the best camera to start with

I just purchased this camera. It's a nice small camera that is easy to carry and produces good images. So it does what it's designed for. Rather than carry my more expensive cameras I now carry this as a daily camera so I can practice more and be a better photographer.
I recently tried this camera after shooting for two years with a G85 and now a G9 and my first thought was, “Woah, what’s with this big flappy thing in the camera?” It was the mirror, of course, but it felt really foreign. The noise. I could feel the camera shake. I could never go back to DSLR.
How sad that a mirror is that off putting to you instead of actual issues.
@@BlownMacTruck But it is an actual issue. I can shoot completely silently. When I was on movie sets I had to have this giant noise cancelling box. Events in churches and synagogues I can shoot unobtrusively. So, yes, it's one of the BIG issues compared to mirrored.

What's nutz is this. The SL2 was supposed to be the new awesome thing from the SL1; but there were enough of those limiting factors, such as not being able to use 3rd party flashes, and more, that stopped me from justifying the upgrade from my SL1.
Now seeing what the SL3 is about and it's limitations, I'm so glad I stuck with the SL1.
The deal breaker on the M50 for me is the lack of access for remote control - for stills time lapse is my thing. Much wider range of lenses too
I've been a long time Canon user (six bodies and various lenses), but the latest crop of cameras has encouraged me to revive my NEX-5 for casual and street photography and to seriously consider moving to Sony completely. Sony just seems to offer more thoughtfully, from the photographer's point of view) configured than the latest Canon offerings.
Can I record and live stream simultaneously from canon 200d mark 2. Will the recoding function will not be displayed on the HDMI output which I will be streaming. Will there be heating issues if the streaming and simultaneous recording is of 2-3 hours

New to DSLR and bought an SL3 based on some of the reviews. I figured for $50 more, it’d be worth it over the SL2. I’m loving, the camera, so far, but am worried for when I get to the point where I’ll need an external flash. Do you think more companies will be like Godox and adjust their firmware? Will the silver paint actually work? I don’t mind shelling out for the Canon flash, but I already had a flash come with the bundle. It looks like it would work great, but only can do a pre-flash right now (according to Michael the Maeven’s Reply to my question in his review).

I've heard mentioned on another channel that this has clean hdmi out for 1080p and 4k.
This was a massive reason I got this over the M50. It’s so odd they have these little features that on missing on one and not the other. Also, the battery.

Have the SL2, this is such a Canon "Upgrade". They should just name this the SL2s and adopt Apple's overt incremental upgrades Cycles.

i've read somewhere that the 250d/sl3/whatever you called it, has a 5-axis stabilization. is it true tho? because the video from the camera looks quite shaky

I'm old school. Like, since the 60s. More comfortable in a darkroom developing and printing my shots. But I figured I might as well give it a shot. Sounds like I picked a good one to start with. Push comes to shove I throw it into manual mode and off to the races!

I had a Canon T6i and I wish I had looked into buying the Sony a6000/6300 instead back then. Say what you will about the IQ of the Sony 16-50mm lens (if you're looking for a beginner's camera, wouldn't matter anyway), but it makes for a very compact system with better features included. So not only is it a camera for beginners at the same price range, but it's good to throw in your bag on a trip or a day out in the city.
Quick question guys: Why would shoot your content in 24FPS while normal 60FPS panels can't even show it without judder? I really like these videos but don't really think that they will be shown in cinemas anytime soon! :)
Péter Sági honestly I think it is because 60 fps makes everything look really weird, it looks too smooth.
@@TonyAurum Thank you but I'm wandering why not 30FPS. Normal screens can only display either 60, 30, or 20 FPS (where the frame time is dividable with 16.6ms) with correct frame pacing.
I think this is a fine cheap camera and I like using it. Only use it with the 24mm and 50mm lenses but I found it great for street pictures. It's a simple easy to use budget camera which is good value.
Switch your Video mode to Ntse from Pal and you get 24p, 29p 59p in 1080 res, both of ya didn’t do your research
Please suggest which camera is better - Canon M50 vs Panasonic Lumix G85. I am looking to buy for traveling and casual use.
In recent times when Canon brought out the 4000d and 2000d was a further confirmation what Canon is like. Those cameras have the digic4 processor, no dual pixel...they simply added wifi to them but essentially those cameras were 5 years out of date when they came out. Using up old parts to make cameras that would make them some money from obsolete parts and at the same time prop up the higher price of the SL2 - which should be the best DSLR for beginners going into the DSLR route (which will gradually die out). I see the SL2 as a mirrorless (live view with dual pixel - good) with an optical viewfinder as well...and good luck if you get one with focus issues in shallow depth of field use, NO micro adjustment for you :-(

isn't the huge selection of EF lenses (including ff and inexpensive ones) a strong reason to choose this camera instead of m50? As for me, I switched to Sony ff mirrorless, but I see that lens selection is a problem....
That same battery fits the EOS RP, so maybe Canon is planning ahead when SL3 users "upgrade" to Full Frame ? 😆

I wasn't sure whether to go for the 250D/SL3 (can we not have a single name for a global product Canon?) or the M50. I bought the M50 as everyone raved about it as a vlogging camera. I've not made up my mind yet if the M50 feels too small and toy-like in my hands, or if I appreciate more how portable the camera is for vlogging outdoors. The M50 is a camera in search of a decent native lens range, (wake up Canon), saved by the intervention of Sigma and Viltrox. But even with a Viltrox M or M2 giving me access to my EF/EF-S lenses, the balance of body and camera feels lens heavy. I couldn't stream in clean HDMI until Canon gave out a free software upgrade. I've ended up buying the 250D/SL3 which feels better in my hand and now my EF lenses are native again and I have clean HDMI out of the box. Let's not forget the SL3 is a fairly decent budget camera which means it will have some good points but also have flaws at this price point (some of which I got covered with my M50). I don't want to spend my cash on a super fast PC for 4K tbh. Lenses have longevity which is where I want to invest my money. Bodies get replaced every couple of years or so it seems, and my 400D now can be retired, thus my partner can use the 250D/SL3 and I'lll use the M50, when we're finally released from lockdown! If your budget is tight go for an SL2.

Only manual mode? I tried even in low light conditions, still not popping up automatically and it shows onscreen message like "only raise the flash"

SL3 vs X-T100 vs a6000, which one is better choice?
Canon is marketing this camera under three different names globally. On this island it is called Canon EOS 200d MkII - which makes more sense since the improvements are minor and incremental. Such naming also brings less expectations in regards to setting any new standards - which they still managed to do in a bad way, by removing the flash pin and 24p - "hey that's new!" ;p

7 reasons why the 250D is the perfect choice for me:
1: My wife did not want a tiny camera. She loves how it handles.
2: It's a second camera to compliment an M6. Quality and colors are a close match.
3: Many of the videos we make are interviews and the 250D has eye detection.
4: We live in Indonesia so we don't need 24fps. We use 25fps/PAL which the 250D has.
5: It's simple to use, yet offers enough control to match settings with the M6
6: We already have a Nifty fifty, EF 55-250 zoom, EF 35mm
7: It was only $513 with the f4 kit lens
My wife and I do event photography and videos for our youtube channel and website. We put one camera on a tripod and wander around with the other. Most often, it's difficult to tell which camera did what. I would have preferred the M50, but my wife is the primary user and she loves it. She has taken some great photos and video with it.
I bought this over a Nikon D5600 mainly because the live view mode is having better autofocus for videos (3975 points on-pixel PDAF). While the OVF is using the outdated 9 points PDAF system, it still does the job. A M50 on the other hand seems to be having a bad battery performance (235 shots). Both of these have cropped 4k, but nothing that can't be solved with a wider lens. Also for the budget users/first time buyers, you're getting a magnificent first camera with a good battery (1000+ shots), 4k, a good array of EF and EF-S lens support. Tbh a limited horse-shoe mount and a missing 1080p24fps shouldn't be a deal breaker in not wanting this camera. The only proper downsides might be 9 point PDAF vs 39 point PDAF (D5600) and the dynamic range being only 10EV at 100 ISO compared to 14EV at 100ISO for D5600. But I bought this mainly for video, so I'm good,
I'm gonna buy a camera in a few weeks and i decided to buy the sl2....i like it so much..i don't want the sl3 because, i think that Canon is making people mad.... it's weird to hear that a camera doesn't has 1080p 24fps
... thats the basic frame Rate of a video.... and also they removed the universal center pin from the hotshoe.... it's weird to hear such things.... you can buy the sl2 rather than buying the sl3 or go with the m50
The SL2 is fine unless you want to shoot still sports photos. I shoot landscapes, and it gets the job done.

How does this one compare to the 6Dmk2? 6Dmk2 has been panned as being contrasty w/ low dynamic range. How does the SL3 compare? And how does it compare for build quality? I'm aware that the SL3 has an aps-c sensor, but it would accept my 3 EF mount lenses x 1.6. With a $700 difference in the body price, it may be worthwhile to get the cheaper camera if it has good image quality. This will be a second camera for me. My current camera is an Elan 7E film slr. Video capabilities are not a factor for me. Are there any other ones in this price range that I should consider? Thank you for your help.
Also, what do you think of the Fuji X-S10 w/16 - 80 f/4? Is it worth the bit extra and forsaking my EF lenses?

Watching your videos from my google pixel 6pro which I have used to take great photos for events, and hobbies I just feel like upgrading to something "professional" but wont really break the bank...any suggestions? :)

The question is this - why did Canon even bother? The SL2 will continue to serve it's purpose fine for that target market.
Because an old product sells better when you rebrand it and call it new again. Happens in other industries too. Graphics cards is a nice example, both AMD and Nvidia used that trick countless times.
Wow I wish I could have watched this before I bought it, but I still like the camera, its not like I have a lot of money to buy a pro dslr camera I might buy the m50 later on

Canon's glory days were 2000-2008 culminating in the 5D2. Since then it has slowly become the joke of the camera world.
Wait why. Explain, please. I really want to upgrade from my 8yo 600d to something and all my mind think of is another canon because i don't want to sell my lenses and re buy lenses for another mount camera. The only mirrorless that caught my attention (and in my price range) is the sony a6400, but as i said, i need to rebuy lenses and it's also more expensive than t7i.

Crazy idea.. why don’t Canon use the same body and remove the mirror box. You could have an SL size camera with an EVF, and retain the EF Mount for use with a wider range of glass
It would be a chunky mirrorless camera basically but would be amazing beginner camera
because a lot of the gain involved is in the smaller body size and shorter flange
Canon rarely does "amazing things" anymore, so I doubt it would be amazing :-D
Anyways, the idea is not bad, in fact Pentax already did that many years ago, but people hated it. No idea, if Canon would have more luck with that. I mean, why not go mirrorless with adapter then?
@@Lofote I agree they don't do anything amazing but the M platform is basically dead, and instead of having 3 mounts they could just have EF and R and make the smallest SLR body possible and give it an EVF, EF Mount and dual pixel AF
The OVF on these cameras is tiny and you are forced to use a crap 9 point AF system making it pointless to have, id rather have the "DSLR" body and and EVF

@@dayspoiler4608 Sure, but the M system is basically dead, with almost no lenses, so while there is an advantage, its a disadvantage having 3 mounts 2 of which are not interchangeable with each other and its pointless having a DSLR with dual pixel AF that cannot use it through the viewfinder
This gives the best of both worlds, and low costs for new shooters
It does have 1080 25fps right? Its in the PAL settings
It is possible to remove the full automatic mode by the way - if you know and is experience with the photography setting and enjoying taking photos in manual mode. It is also sharp with the Canon EFS 10-18mm wide angel lense.
Sell it and buy Fuji instead then, it is miles better especially for manual shooting.

I have a Canon EOS 250D, it seems like a good camera. I personally think people are becoming too dependant on the cameras themselves, rather than finding a way to work around it. I think I understand what people mean, I just don't agree with their reasoning at this time.
the deal breaker for m50 is the m mount. For example if i wan to buy the 50mm f1.8 i can't use it on the m50

It was pretty good on the 400d but that was back in 2006. Time moves slowly for some camera makers ;-)
@@JungleCatImages Thinking about a 5D3 myself since i keep hearing that the Newer Canon's have banding problems . I had a 70D then a 6D1 but was shooting dance And Shutter lag was like 0.300 on the 6D1 vs 5D3's 0.120 . For 4K i just got 4 year old Samsung NX line up of close to half the lenses they made for the cost of One RP body .
@@Kz-ds8gb I had the 6D and loved it for the lowlight (coming from a T2i or T3i).. after about 2 years I got the 5diii and now I can't shoot a 6D.. the 5Diii autofocusing system has spoiled me, once you shoot with 41 cross type focus points, there's no turning back.. you can get a used 5Diii for about $1,200.. Nothing you can get in that price range comes close..
@@JungleCatImages Yeah , SLR wise i went from a K-1000 to a EOS 3 Canon 1gx T4i (Kind of junky ) to a 70D for a few months but i missed the EOS 3 and got the 6D1 fast then was stuck with it.
So Shutter lag on 70D was 0.076 to the 6D1's 0.300 So even then Canon was like Stressing then girls and a few guys from the shows want me to do portrait & chaise lounge 30's stuff ..........the amount of out of 6D1 focus shots missed dance to portraits was 14 to 1........... Also i could now do low light dance with the 6D1 but some venues i started at had like no light and flash T4i 1/200 Sync.Not bad, 70D 1/250 Nice , 6D1or2 1/180 WTF! .
So just a wast . And mirrorless Doesn't AF the same ways
