I've used mine for 2 years for video, landscape & portrait photography and it hasn't missed a beat. It's produced spectacular prints that I've sold and I'm currently shooting a short "film" using the camera.

Inspiring review Toby, I just got my 250d, my 1st DSLR. I find it slow to take pictures even on auto, is that because the on-screen focus square takes so long to go from red to green, it just seems unusually slow to take pictures so I'm missing moments, only my 1st day with it. Cheers 👍🏻
Were you half pressing the shutter button to activate the focus? If it isn't operator error then it may be the lens. I find the sl3/250d to have good autofocus in the viewfinder and live view on the lcd. The live view af is much more advanced than the 9 point af in the viewfinder but I usually use center point af in the viewfinder. I point the center point at the thing I want to focus on, half press the shutter button which locks the focus after it is in focus, and then I can move the subject anywhere in the frame while keeping the shutter button half pressed and take the picture. You may need to learn how the camera functions and the types of focus modes to find what works best for you.

I just bought because of the ton of lenses, and long battery life, and light weight, and version 8 processor, good burst speed. I hope I made a good choice over the rebel T7.

I use it with the Sigma 150-600mm and the Canon 50mm lens mainly. I find both produce great results with this camera! Thank you

When filming a video, it can do a maximum of half an hour in one take :)
I have an old canon 20D with some lenses. Now I want to upgrade, mainly to shoot video. Is this 250D good for video, or should I go with a R10 for example (which is twice as expensive + I would need a lens adapter)

Hello, any knowledge on what gimbal would work well with this? Was looking at a Weebill S or a Ronin S but I'm not sure if this camera works with them, currently still trying to find out if that's the case.

It is an extremely sharp camera. It takes excellent pictures.
It really is, it has the up to date high MP's due to it being a modern camera
My new camera, with standard and 18/135 mm nano USM lens and 55/250 mm
I have found the SL 3 or 250D to be a bit small for ny hands. For $100 more, the T8i to fit better size. It also has better focus system as well.

I'm just about to decide whether to buy the Canon 250D or the Canon M50 Mark II. I use both photo and video features, which one would you choose?
I would chose the m50. I love my dslr's however the versatility of the m50 in comparison is great. Also for sport or wildlife you will love the 10fps. The 250D only has 5fps. Hope this helps 👍

hello, thank you for the video. I have a question about the ISO setting. I have the 250D for 2 weeks and I cannot set the ISO to 100 - the lowest manual setting seems to be 200. Do you know how to set ISO100 for tripod photos.
The camera has a minimum ISO of 100 and if your model should be able to go down to 100 when scrolling down the ISO. If the camera can not achieve this I would suggest contacting Canon or the shop you bought it from to get the issue resolved. Unfortunately the model you have received is most likely a faulty item.
@@TobyWoodPhoto i actually found out what was wrong, in the settings there is "highlight tone priority" (on screen 3) - when that is "OFF" you can do ISO 100, I set it to D+, then the minimum is ISO 200 ;-)

The canon 250D. The canon 7d mark ii in my opinion is only good for photography unless you own a gimbal. But the newer build of the canon 250D and smaller size makes it better for both. It is a more all round camera.

It's survived up to 128GB for me but I recon it could do double that...

I think it would be a fantastic option for travelling. As a beginner it does everything you could ever need it to do while capable of professional results. It is lightweight and the smallest DSLR on the market and is modern so has great connectivity features, all useful when sharing your journey!
