JIM VENETOS COULD HELP ANYONE'S SWING

  • In my last video I introduced you to the Jim Venetos method which is completely different then conventional golf instruction. You might not want to completely adopt this philosophy as it is radically different but that doesn't mean you can't benefit from it. If you struggle with a weak slice or a steep path or poor ball striking then try practicing there's two Venetos swing keys and it will improve your own swing.
    implementing part of this method could cure your slice, hook, thin shots or fat shots. hit the ball farther and straighter than ever before.
    swing the Jim Venetos way and end up on the PGA tour!

    An old dog cant learn the new tricks. However, I practised the Venetos swing and I highly recommend it. Getting the golf ball to go on the same trajectory time after time is the beginning of playable golf. Once you know where the ball will go, then you can manage the golf course. I found the Venetos swing method enabled me to hit very high tight draws with my wedges. But my long irons suffered. Good video. Thanks.

    • @migmatisgolf
      @migmatisgolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Paul Strohm I think if you persevered with the long irons they would come around. My personal opinion is that the further the weight on the end the stick is away from you the more the brain thinks it needs to used effort and muscles to get it back to the ball. The truck is to convince the brain that this is not the case. I believe this is kind of what Jim is achieving with stillness. I am willing to bet if you video yourself you are moving much more with the long irons than your wedges. Thanks for the comment.

    Just three weeks ago I watched my first Jim Venetos golf video and I immediately took it to the range.. let's just say for my driver his method is the only way for me to drive the golf ball. Infact In only 3 weeks and I do golf a lot I've hit more fairways per round then then anytime in my life!!!! I now consistently hit my drives with a slight draw 260 to 280 yards. And I know I'm not as still as he teaches. But every swing with every club I practice stillness. Thanks for the grate video.

    I use the closed front side, weight on my front side, my right side Im left handed and stillness in my swing. My take away is more traditional, but I find it works for me. Jim is great! All or most of what he teaches will work for anyone. Stillness and weight on your front side is key!!!

    Cool video. I've been working on this over a year and when I setup I see a line on an angle on the ground, say 4 o'clock to 10 o'clock, ( the ball at noon) and I try to keep my shoulders on that line, NOT the target line, and I swing on that line. Everybody thinks the ball is going dead right but it never does. As you mentioned, you can take pieces of this method and do what works. Even Jim admits you don't have to be super closed if you can shut off the dominating right side. You're right, I play with guys all week moving all over the place - they get off one or two good shots and then literally hit 6 inches behind the ball after that. From my observations I would say 99% of golfers who know zero about swing mechanics get over to the right side, stay there, throw the club, release the angles, flip the wrists and then say they picked their head up when they butcher the shot. I'd say all are adding 9 degrees or more of loft doing this which is why the ball goes nowhere. The harder they swing the more they open up and the worse it gets. They ask me what to do and I tell them what Hogan said: "Do the opposite of everything you're doing right now." hahahahahahaha

    I have literally done what you said in your video by using parts of his method in my swing, I was a 19 handicapper and struggled massively with open shoulders resulting in inconsistent striking etc but I watched his videos and when I practiced I did it how he says. I then took it to the course and played my full normal swing while trying to keep shoulders closed and I must say its worked wonders for me I'm now a 10 handicap. Granted it is very difficult as you say but if you persevere it does work ,although I would say the faster you try to swing the harder it is to keep shoulders closed so start of slowly and as long you strike the ball well it still goes a distance. Good content keep up the nice vids man

    Hi, Commented on your video about 7 months ago. I do use the Jim Venetos swing method, although mostly on the range at the moment due to the Covid epidemic. One thing I really like about this method is that if you have a bad or misdirected shot you immediately know the reason.Not achieving stillness or coming through too early with trail shoulder. It really is that simple and I am 79 years of age which probably explains why I find stillness easier than some. Best regards and I hope Alice has healed nicely (I have had 3 Alsations).

    • @migmatisgolf
      @migmatisgolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jim Forte 80% of where a ball starts is club face so I would say that the face should always be pointed where you want the ball to start. This method is more about creating a shallow descending in to out blow in to the back of the ball and very solid contact. After you can repeat that then the club face can be tweaked to get the starting line you want. It always a blend of face and path for the flight you want bu5v5bis method will get you first hitting clean consistent shots and then fine tuning is easy.

      Jack Phillips this is normal. It only takes the shoulders to move a couple of inches on the downswing to throw the club off its inside arc to the ball. If you persevere and focus on stillness your shoulders will start to quiet and you will hit mainly draws. Stick with it.

    It’s not for me but there are parts of his swing that everyone should try. Firstly his setup with weight on the left leg and swinging from the left shoulder creates a good ball strike; ball first and then ground. His closed setup helps to eliminate the weak out to in swing that a lot of people have. Lastly by staying still he creates a repeating swing.
    So yes, setup square to closed. Get your leg action working so that your weight is fully on your left leg at strike. Keep your right arm passive and use your left arm to create an in to out swing.

    • @migmatisgolf
      @migmatisgolf  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dexter James if your right side is used to spinning out on the downswing then it is difficult to quiet it. I have found that hitting balls with the lead arm only on the club helps to strengthen the left, make the right more passive and improve the path.you can also try holding the club with a strange grip with your right hand. Check out my video about swing wreckers or thumb and forefinger off the shaft. Even maybe the shaft running between the 2 first fingers. Essentially the hand is on the club but unable to really apply pressure without it feeling awkward.

    I had a 3rd grade student about 8 years ago that had never played with a hula hoop, and we had a special event by a trainer that day. Within minutes this girl was able to start swinging 2,3 even 4 of the hoops like she had been doing this for years. I can't do even one, no matter what I try and doing. I'll never forget the trainer using her as an example of the small amount of motion necessary to make that hoop sing around the body. I think Venetos is basically using this technique of very small effort to create a very wide, circular swing. It works, but if you already have something that works better for you, I can see why you'll be negative on it. That's not most golfers though. I find his lessons very relaxing and rewarding.

    • @migmatisgolf
      @migmatisgolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dick Magee check jim out. He explains it better than I do. Power in the swing is mainly down to optimizing the best swing arc with stillness and releasing angles at the right time. It really seems that way but that hasn’t been my experience. Part of the distance equation is smash factor. How solid and in the center of the clubface do you strike the ball. For me this method really improves that. I have tested on track man and my distance hasn’t suffered at all. The quality of strike and consistent ball flight is much improved. Think of it this way. In your downswing what is the first thing you want to do? Get to your left side. Jim is just never leaving it.

    What I don’t understand is-when watching Jim V’s swing videos, he’s always in the closed position, all his shots seem to be going RIGHT rather than STRAIGHT. Am I the only one that sees that? I’ve asked Jim and another advocate that same question and I never get an answer. I don’t know what I’m missing here. Please help me to understand this.

    • @migmatisgolf
      @migmatisgolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      His shots go right in relation to what? His shoulders?feet?knees? I say that because aiming is one of the most miss understood parts of golf. Standing side on to a golf ball creates a relationship to the ball with the eyes that the brain has trouble computing. Most amateurs want to get the club back to the ball too quickly because of this. Almost everybody swings better with closed eyes. What Jim does is pre set you up for the correct path in to the ball. Don’t worry about where the ball goes to start with. Just get to the point where you are consistently striking the ball and seeing the same shot pattern and then learn to aim what you have.
      Also you never really see the end of the ball flight in his video but he mainly hits a draw so if he was on a course those balls would all be starting right of the target and drawing back on to the target.

      @plugger4945 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@migmatisgolf Thank you for your quick reply and explanation. I understand what you are saying, but, I can’t possibly be the only one that sees that his severely closed stance will , and does, send the ball directly right (as in; right into the out of bounds). If the videos showed a draw in flight, and the ball landing straight out , I wouldn’t be so confused.

    I've been working on that same type of swing, my left shoulder and upper back is basically facing away from the target, then I just drop and aim, or feel like my swing, is going to the right. I’ve been trying his method and really like it. After years of a conventional swing keeping weight on the front side is hard but impact and ball flight are so nice. I’m curious having seen him hit balls is it impressive? Does he get the distance and results he talks about?

    Weight Forward Period. Will help anyone. That Venetos got from Stack and Tilt.

    I like it and I follow Jim as well but I think the one part you are missing is the bit about finishing your swing as you would a normal swing (belt buckle to the target).
    This is where I think a lot of people struggle with Jim’s swing...Jim says stay very quiet and passive on the back swing and keep that lead shoulder closed, but finish as you would a regular swing. A bit confusing as to when you can “open up” that left shoulder.

    This is nothing like the swing taught by Jim Venetos. He doesn't even set up open.

    Jim also drops the trail foot and closes the hips a bit. You weren’t doing that.

    I hope the time that's lapsed between this video and now, you've seen what a ridiculous concept this is. Seems like the best way to hit it short

      brucenoneyabusness don’t knock it till you have tried it 😜Many a convert would disagree with you. It’s not for everybody but definitely helps a lot of people enjoy the game more.
      I’ve been spanked many a time by players I outdrive by a mile. They have incredible distance control and great ball striking.
      Distance isn’t everything. I get where you are coming from though. If it’s not for you then move on and find something that is. Thanks for the comment and happy hunting.

    This guy did not demonstrate the swing properly. He set up almost square to the line of flight, Jim advocates a closed (45 degrees) setup. Watch the videos of Venetos instruction if you wanna get it right.

      Considering you can’t tell where I am aiming that statement makes no sense. Not to mention “the line of flight “is a vague concept at best.
      Use this technique to strike it pure every time with a consistent ball flight then move you feet to change your aim.I would love for someone to walk up to Couples or Trevino on the range and tell them to set up with their feet or shoulders differently. What I can agree on is that to get the best instruction on Jim’s philosophy go and watch his videos.

      Crystal Davis sorry you feel that way. Just trying to make more people aware of Jim’s teachings. He sent me a message thanking me for making this video.
      Thanks for the comment.

      Migmattis im sorry. Please forgive me. I watch you guys and I go out on the range but I believe im the type of person who needs someone there with me to teach me. Plus I’m 49 and been hitting the golf ball since I was 6 or 7. Hard to learn a different way. Hanks for your advice and again I’m sorry.

      @migmatisgolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crystal Davis no need to feel sorry. I am grateful that people engage with me and am happy to take criticism . I just try and make everybody realise that there is a method for them out there that might not be your typical “conventional” way. Most people have never heard of these different methods and the people who bring them to us so I like to draw attention to these outliers. Thanks for the comment.
