Bit of a personal one today guys, definitely loving my golf at the moment and this is a big reason as to why for sure! Is there anything you guy's are working on at the moment and how is it going? 👀🏌⛳
Nice to see this. I have been doing this same setup because i used to hit too much spin. It helped me a lot but was always in doubt if I was going to a “wrong” way.. 👍
This is exactly what I've been facing, really helped at the range today! Question though, if it's blowing a gale out there, how are you dealing with trying to play a low under the wind chaser?
So timely - I've always had a low ball flight off the tee with driver (though my irons are always super high!). Will be rewatching this to soak it in and take it to the range.
I had a tendency to hit down with my driver so my golf pro did exactly this with the ball position and it worked for me. Every other golf instruction says put ball off left heel and don’t play it any further forward. So refreshing to see this advice now. The key is what’s right for the individual. Sometimes there is a danger to applying generic golf instruction to an individual swing.
I have been struggling with driver for the last few season. Started with a new teacher last weekend and this is the first thing he taught me. Hit my first ever draw. I want to get more comfortable/consistent with this and then focus on clubhead speed. Currently 101, would love to hit 110.
I’ve tried asking so many for help and have had so many watch my swing and barely anyone can come up with what I’m doing wrong. Everything he explains about what he was doing in his swinging pulling the ball and what not sounds exactly like my problem. Cannot wait to try this new drill. This is what everyone else told me not to do.
I just recently started keeping my back shoulder down a little bit, a little more weight on my back foot, and standing a further back with my driver and 7 wood - immediately saw a positive difference. Still need to practice more and have only had two range sessions, but so far so good. I am so ready for the Spring and excited for this season!
I literally took this to the range the other day as this is me to a tee. I went up from 245 total to my longest at 283 and averaging 260 total!! Thank you 🙏
I have always played driver this far forward as well. One day on the range a teaching pro came up to my swing coach and questioned my ball position. My swing coach said, "he hits it further and straighter than anyone I coach. There's no way we are changing that". I actually play the ball fairly forward with even my irons because it helps me get to my lead side vs hanging back. I think most golfer can benefit from moving the back up a bit.
This makes so much sense to me,. I kept hearing the same old method and I couldn't get a decent launch angle no mater how I tried. I wanted to try this at the range, but my local range don't allow you to have the tee too high (grrr!) So I had to tried this today on the course. The first couple went right, but I persevered and suddenly on the back nine I hit one of the biggest drives of my life, with a lovely draw ( 37 meters further than my average). The only difference I found worked for me was to draw my right foot back but keep my shoulders and hips pointing at the target. Cant wait for next week to do it again. Thanks so much.
I just started with some of these tips 2 weeks ago before seeing your video. INSTANT Amazing results. Getting over aiming out right to allow the “freedom” to swing throughout is mind blowing. Thanks for the tips guys!
I am all about this. My drive has always been shit. This technique is golden. There is just one more thing I would suggest addressing, which not many players think about, that unconscious bias in your setup. Eliminate that and you have the perfect combination.
Guys I went and tested this method out at the range and saw some of the best results I’ve seen all year…if not entire golf journey (roughly 2.5 years in earnest). I’ve not really been able to hit up with driver consistently, was still getting like 260 yds or so…but doing this today I hit a good 30 yards longer. I had never seen the ball go so long and high off the face of my driver. Truly remarkable tip in this video, thanks for sharing! Now let’s see if it will translate to the course haha.
Followed your advice and after a few buckets on the range it felt great. Took it to the course and teed off of the first smashing it down the middle, only to find that both my legs fell off. have gone back to my original swing.
As a new golfer (less than 1 year) I have been terrified of my driver. I airbend the ball HARD to the right. It flies out and I mean goes off like a RC drone to the right. After working through my swing at the range, I teed the ball up high and put it forward in my stance. Almost outside my stance. Just to hit up on it. And I've never bombed my driver shot after shot like that, ever. Slice turned into a nice fade. Now, 2 weeks later I'm finding this video (crazy) and I can't wait to add in some of these tips to better hone my new confidence with my driver. 😎
Lately I've been so discombobulated with my 3 wood and Driver. So I tried this. I have zero clue why this works but damn this works. I was smashing through the ball. 239 carry straight as an arrow wirh the 3 wood and 263 carry average with the driver straight down the fairway. Go figure. It's my first time using it and right off the bat great hits.
This is so true, I been using this setup for the last 6 months and I gained 20+ yards on my drives, I learned that from Rory in one of his videos, because in my old setup if I try to hit it really hard I would slide my drives, also I noticed that when I hit the ball to the left it means that I’m not hitting up, this setup has changed my driving tremendously, good job guys!
I did that set up all summer and hit it higher , straighter and further. I also use the Cobra Aerojet LS and my spin is down around 2100 . I also use the Autoflex 505 so the shaft "kicks" in at the bottom
Gosh darn it! When I see a video like this, I want to go to the range and try it immediately. I'm going to try this next range day! Thanks @meandmygolf!
Thanks! This is the most important golf lesson for anyone struggling with the driver. Did this change in setup a couple of months ago. Gain 20 yards immediately and more accuracy 🙂
I needed this. I was setting up exactly like Piers and getting the exact same results. I was correcting myself just like was done here. Tee higher, huge gap between club and ball, and I would step my right foot back a little to compensate. However, I kept fighting doing that because it was not "correct". It's so contrary to what I've always been thought/told/seen on a driver setup. So freeing to see a pro doing the same thing and validate what I was wanting to do. Now I shall go wallop the ball! 😂
Great video. I had noticed by moving the ball forward my swing was starting to come out to in causing a slice. So I also adjusted to a closed stance to make the path more neutral.
The longest and straightest players hit the driver forward of the left heel. Go to to a tour event and get up to the ropes to get a good view of how they setup. It will shock you how much cameras 🎥 distorts the view because of angles
Like yourself my bad miss has been left for the past Yr. Tried this on the range and the course and its worked wonders. Only thing is now i need to trust it and aim middle to slightly left of the fairway as my miss is right now 😮
I have experienced much more consistent, longer drives by setting my driver up about 4 inches behind the ball. I took my Cobra driver loft down from 10.5 to 9 degrees. I also moved my club a bit inside the ball to get consistent center face strikes. My drives went from the 230s to 250s immediately, with wind assisted drives hitting 300 yards. I feel the freedom a lot. My swing speed is up from 100 mph to 110+. A game changer for me.
fascinating video..straight the range on the way home..also a old joiner used always finsh his sentence with 'wallop' at the end of it when telling us about all his old flames
I've been incorporating the hover & focusing on the lean since finding this video a couple weeks ago. Not saying it's a silver bullet but I've gone from consistently carrying ~245 to ~275 (per my BLP) so there's definitely something to it! Now to just get it straighter lol
Well I have to say an uncomplicated tip that works amazingly so..I find my brain doesn’t absorb various tips fm different TH-cam golf channels but used this tip today in a league match against okehampton and I’m booming my stealth 2👌👌 so decided to try it with the 3 wood ball teed up on a blue tee…absolutely booming that also..I’m Single figures at golf…this tip is absolute mustard chaps 👏👏👏👏
Have tried every trick in the book....change grip, 😅close face, drop right shoulder, tee ball further forward.....still have a massive slice!! Might as well give this a go!!
Shocking is the only way I can put it. After watching this video, I decided to give this technique a try today during a casual round. I hit maybe 15 balls on the range and the results seemed promising. Shots were straight and contact was solid. Driver for me is typically inconsistent with lower ball flight, poor contact and wide distribution. On the course, shots were exactly as described in the video - a little left to a slight fade to the right. I also gained 15-20 yards in carry from 215 to 230-235. Trajectory was a lot higher. I'm just amazed at how easy it was. I use a 10.5 degree driver and didn't make any adjustments. I DNK if further improvements could be made with equipment optimization.
Just started practising with the club head further away from the ball. Really working well. Better strikes and more accurate. Another quality video. Thanks guys.
I've been keeping my club head back all year after watching Mo Norman videos. Like your intro, I've been frightened to really try to "wallop" the ball, especially on a 10 pace wide fairway tee shot. That said, I do feel that I need to be freer with my swing. I'll try this lesson when we return to above freeing temps in the spring.
This is a GREAT tip! I was just about to go to my 3 wood for my drives and give up on driver. Seeing this and then trying it out on the range? Wow! What a difference. I need to tweak this and that as I'm experiencing of pulling the ball a bit too much but I'll get it together. Any additional advice to pass on, that would be wonderful. Cheers, guys!
Amazing video. My set up is so similar to this and has definitely helped my left miss. There are a few extra set up ideas I can now try that may give me extra distance. Thank you so much.
It was almost as if you knew... I can't stop hitting the bloody thing left. Went out on Sunday, 5 drives, all toe hooks. Went to the range the other day, some good ones but mostly left. Need to sort it out as it's killing my confidence on the course.
I have actually Moved the Ball out past my front foot and Maybe gained at least 30 yards also ,Play my Irons just inside my front foot and smoke em slight Draw but sometimes snaphook.
You know guys in my practice time with the driver and when I teach people one of my drills is use a 4 inch T and place it out by the big toe it works wonders
Hi guys! Great Video! Funny I just started this way of hitting the ball! Hook Stance with the ball out in front and coming from the inside to out to stop my lifetime slice. How am I doing? well after only two range sessions (spring is finally here in Quebec Canada , I see a BIG difference and can't wait to try it on the course! Not having launch monitors where I practice I can only rely on my instincts and I REALLY think this will be a mind blowing new stance and drives this year! Thanks for adding more confidence in what I'm trying to achieve!
Ahh... This sounds like me. Used to be good driver, but bad iron hitter. Now I am a good iron hitter and driver is all over the place. I tend to close the face too much at impact with too much shaft lean with my driver. So I've struggled hitting up and getting the club at the ball fast enough to get ride of the shaft lean with driver. But once in a while when I can hit up on the ball, it launches high with excellent speed and distance. Looking forward to giving this a try. Thanks for sharing!
I think I set up like this, purely by luck I might add, when I'm hitting driver on a dog leg right to cut the corner as I'm aiming right and tee it high, similar to the 230 yard white flag at 3 hammers from left sided bays, when I do this I hit bombs and i seem to feel like i can hit it as hard as I want to and the golf ball gets in the way launching high and long, I could never work out why when I set up to hit it on a straight hole it feels so different, I do exactly as you do and lose 50 yards plus hit down miss right or left, now I know I'm moving ball forward on straight shots but forget to set up slightly right, sounds so simple but I've definitely felt it, I'll practise this at Royal St David's next time I play and have no fear, awesome video keep up the great work both, Loza
This is me! Hands in front of the driver head. This has caused me to have a bigger draw than I want. I recently saw a video short of Jon Rahm and noticed he was keeping his drive back a few inches behind his ball. I will be practicing this at the range. Perfect and timely for me!!
This has helped me a lot as well......thanks to you Fellas for all the years of videos......... Meandmygolf is great instruction with lots of fun mixed in.....I guess my only complaint would be that Piers forgot his socks ...I have seen better ankles on a chicken!!
I like to play with an open stance as I feel more comfortable with freedom to turn and get through the ball. Recently I have been struggling with the driver would this work with an open stance? Will give it a try. Another good video guys 👍🏻
Good tip. Im a pretty low cap but dont have a ton of swing speed (~100 on a good day). I play the ball forward like this. Allows me to get every drop of distance I can by hitting 5 up on it launching it 14/2k on average.
Sometimes I feel like as mid-handicapper, I feel like all of the normal techniques are the only way. But having the ball position at my toes and not the inside of my foot allows me to hit up and square. Thanks for making the unconventional, acceptable practice. (Insert Jim Furyk swing)
This 100%. I felt like I was doing something wrong having the ball so far up. The advice of having a slightly closed stance helped straighten things out with a slight draw. Thanks gents.
Almost can't believe that just came to your mind, because it's long and well known knowledge. Whatever - it has it's own pittfalls - for one its harder to hold lag if you hit the ball in upswing. Some more that partly come from closed setup. You'll discover. But basically, to hit it on the up you have to tee up in front and stand slightly closed, absolutely right.
Watched this video this morning and then went and played 18 to give this a try. Unfortunately, I found you definitely have to tee it higher, and I only had pink castle tees with me. I was catching too many low on the face, but the ones I got middle were really straight. Not sure about length since the course was really wet from the heavy rain we had yesterday, but I had a couple that had some really good carry. I’ll definitely give this another try or two this week.
I’ve struggled with the same issue with my driver for years. I’m going to try this setup and see how I like it. I’ve move the ball further up in my stance, but I still have a negative attack angle. Looking to see if the can help. You guys are the best and people are lucky to get lessons from you.
I have some question though; during setup where should the club face be aimed at? Also, my club doesn’t have a fade/draw option and is instead setup to have a draw bias. Most of my shots are either straight or fades, draws are rare and completely on accident.
I was lucky enough to “feel” this possibility on a range a few months ago. I’ve only gamed it once, but committed to training it in the off-season. I’ve never…..truly…..NEVER hit the ball off the tee as far as I am now.
Can’t wait to go work on this. Literally the exact things I am working on. Interested to see if my consistently 108 club speed will increase and get over the 110 mark! Thanks for the great videos!
I’m trying to get comfortable with this method…trusting it on the tee box seems like half the battle. I’m older than this flatbelly though and I wonder if there’s a swing speed threshold that this is recommended for? Like maybe this will only work on swing speeds above 100 and anything below that don’t bother because it won’t help?
What if you can't go out and get a new driver head. Just de-loft my 10.5 as low as it goes, down to 8.5? It is a draw biased driver, I can also add lead tape if necessary. Thanks!
By being so very tilted and far back , it’s difficult to finish with weight moving forward. That stance makes u turn on the middle and I get stuck on back foot. How to fix that?
I tee up high, set my club a few inches back at setup (for a few years now) and have an up AOA but CONTINUALLY hit on lower half of driver face killing distance. How can it be that high on tee and STILL on bottom of face?
This brings up an issue I think we probably all have, consistency. Recent round this weekend, 3 holes went great then Tee shot on 4, way left then way right and downhill from there. Do you have tips to recognize whats gone wrong and how to be more consistent
One thing you have to really understand is that you will still hit bad shots out there and that's ok. During a round, don't get in to trying to fix anything when you hit a bad shot. Save that for the driving range when you can commit to a correct change.
With this stance, what's the club face like? I've tried it and the shot end up as hooks or massive draws low in height........please advise as to what I might be doing wrong.... Cheers!
Bit of a personal one today guys, definitely loving my golf at the moment and this is a big reason as to why for sure! Is there anything you guy's are working on at the moment and how is it going? 👀🏌⛳
Moe Norman 🫡
Nice to see this. I have been doing this same setup because i used to hit too much spin. It helped me a lot but was always in doubt if I was going to a “wrong” way.. 👍
Nice video lesson. What driving range is this? It shows up on a lot of videos.
This is exactly what I've been facing, really helped at the range today! Question though, if it's blowing a gale out there, how are you dealing with trying to play a low under the wind chaser?

Just hit my longest drive doing this. Thank you. And I was able to hit a draw which iv never done! Even the fade drives were long enough.
Tried this on the course today AMAZING RESULTS ONLY MISSED 2 FAIRWAYS TODAY AND DISTANCE WAS INCREDIBLE THANKS FOR A GREAT TIP FELLAS
I just recently started keeping my back shoulder down a little bit, a little more weight on my back foot, and standing a further back with my driver and 7 wood - immediately saw a positive difference. I literally took this to the range the other day as this is me to a tee. I went up from 245 total to my longest at 283 and averaging 260 total!! Thank you 🙏
This is the exact lesson I needed! I’ve been trying to reform my driver swing and feel restricted with other golf tips. It’s time to free the beast!!!
Glad this was useful. Let us know how it goes!
I did this the last time I played. Got a lot of distance and eliminated the right side of the fairway. Excellent tip!
I have always played driver this far forward as well. One day on the range a teaching pro came up to my swing coach and questioned my ball position. Just had my best season driving the ball because of this method. Similar to Moe Norman’s natural golf method but with modern angles.
Great 👍
I just started with some of these tips 2 weeks ago before seeing your video. INSTANT Amazing results. Getting over aiming out right to allow the “freedom” to swing throughout is mind blowing. Thanks for the tips guys!

Yes! What @baemp1re said. My buddies tell me my club head is too far back from the ball. Thank you for validating my set up.
Great instructions fellas,spot on 💯
I’ve been doing this for 10 yrs everybody laughs til the see the results then Crickets and then a loud OMG!!!!😮😂🎉

Have tried every trick in the book....change grip, 😅close face, drop right shoulder, tee ball further forward.....still have a massive slice!! Might as well give this a go!!
Let us know if it helps. Also make sure the club face is good in the back swing.
Great video! The takeaway I received from this is, it's not "wrong" if it works for me. I will be giving this a try.
It's certainly all about finding what works for you. Let us know how it goes.

Let us know if this works for you. Would love to hear!
Great. Yes hands ahead of the driver head can close the face down. Hope this helps.
Good work here! Any specific method for setting tee height? Thanks.
Im doing long drive next year though and strugglling to get that launch so ill have to give this a go
Outstanding video.
Great video thank you. Reminds me of Mine Norman the golf genius.
Well done guys hope you are both well 👍 😊
Thanks Roy. All good here thanks. Hope you are!
Lots of Moe Norman concepts here with tilt, club face away from the ball, etc.
I wanna try this tomorrow 👍👍
You guys are the best instructors on the internet.
Appreciate your words Harry. Hope you found this useful!
Good tip. Im a pretty low cap but dont have a ton of swing speed (~100 on a good day). I play the ball forward like this. Allows me to get every drop of distance I can by hitting 5 up on it launching it 14/2k on average.
Great Jacob. Yes if you can hit up on it that little bit more it can certainly help.
It appears that his trail foot is placed significantly further back. What video do you have that addresses that technique?
Watched this video this morning and then went and played 18 to give this a try. Unfortunately, I found you definitely have to tee it higher, and I only had pink castle tees with me. I was catching too many low on the face, but the ones I got middle were really straight. Not sure about length since the course was really wet from the heavy rain we had yesterday, but I had a couple that had some really good carry. I’ll definitely give this another try or two this week.
Yes you definitely need a super high too for this. Get those orange ones next time.
I’ve struggled with the same issue with my driver for years. I’m going to try this setup and see how I like it. I’ve move the ball further up in my stance, but I still have a negative attack angle. Looking to see if the can help. You guys are the best and people are lucky to get lessons from you.
Gonna try this
Can't wait to try this but do you still look at the ball or the few inches behind it when you make your swing?
Having the club back to keep the shoulders square makes sense
Damn! I was doing almost everything right that you are doing except I didn’t think of keeping the ball that far forward AND just aiming more right.
Glad this is working for you!
Great video, fellows! Question. Does the grip change at all with this setup?
Can’t wait to go work on this. Literally the exact things I am working on. Interested to see if my consistently 108 club speed will increase and get over the 110 mark!
Thanks for the great videos!
What would be a good tee length to get to have it as high as you guys ? I see a lot of different lengths at the golf shop
Hi guys great video, quick question how far to the right should you be aiming? Can you still hit a draw?
Is aiming the shoulders to the right of target a bad fix long term?
Should have a fitting for your trousers too.
Wow good one good points
It doesn't look like your feet are square (maybe it's just the camera angle); how exactly should they ideally be positioned for a driver swing?
Chi Chi Rodriguez always said “Tee it high and let it fly”.
I started doing this 1 year ago and I hit them 30-40 yards longer - ball flight is higher and I hit a fade with many more fairways
How nice does that stealth driver look?
This brings up an issue I think we probably all have, consistency. Recent round this weekend,
3 holes went great then Tee shot on 4, way left then way right and downhill from there.
Cheers!
I can't wait to try this tomorrow. Driver is the least reliable club in the bag.
so on a Callaway Optifit, I should set it to fade? or neutral?
