Manila - WHY VISIT?

- They always say, “Don’t stop in Manila, just pass through on the way to anywhere else in the Philippines”. In this Manila vlog I'm not taking that advice!
I spent a week in Manila determined to find out what this huge mega-city can offer. We start out in the colonial historic center of Intramuros, the former capital of the New Spanish Islands which is filled with buildings from that period.
There’s amazing Spanish-era landmarks like the central Manila Cathedral and beautiful San Agustin Church, along with Fort Santiago, with a large stone gate and a shrine to national hero José Rizal.
What better place to start discovering why Manila is worth visiting!
In the next video I’ll head to Binondo, the oldest Chinatown in the world and my favourite part of Manila.

Beautiful
Manila has a special charm that absolutely cannot be missed. It is the cultural centre and the beating heart of the country; why wouldn't you go there? There's a good reason why the capital of the Philippines has a classic song that is an ode to its beauty; in English, the lyrics say "I have been looking for you, Manila. Your noise is so sweet to the ear. Your speeding jeepneys, your gorgeous ladies; take me back in your arms, Manila, and promise me you'll never let go."

You should visit the dandeon in fort Santiago.

And,.. woop,.. jumped to the Philippines.👍
Taiwan was really mostly about food and it was a fast paced trip anyway! I actually only stayed in Manila in the Philippines anyway then flew on to Bangkok (spoiler 😜)
@@ChrisKermis Thailand is very beautiful. Eleven years ago I made a tour there. Temples, lots of temples, but very beautiful and also friendly people, culture and good food.
@@Taco-C Absolutely, it's a country I love and Bangkok feels almost like a second home nowadays. This trip was my first time back to SE Asia since covid and also my first time filming there.
