      @@joshtaylor1416 and without the selectable rear AND front lockers. Oh, and a different bumpers, the front of which has cut outs to allow a better approach angle. The suspension is custom designed for the ZR2 and the shock design is taken from F1 shock technology btw, so it’s not just a minor upgrade.

    Just bought a Sterling Metallic Silverado 1500 ZR2 a couple of weeks ago. This has been my favorite vehicle to drive in years. Great looking great gas mileage and great ride.
    I traded in a 2021 F-150 platinum when I purchased the ZR2 and could not be happier with my decision.

    Great video. Just bought that exact truck, color and all. I live in Fort Lauderdale and had to make a deal with a dealership in VA to get that truck. Going to pick it up next week. Can't wait. Thanks for the pointers on all the options. Don't get much practice in the snow down here.

      I can’t imagine you do, but snow and sand can act similar at times. I’m stoked for you that you’re getting a great truck! I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

    Love, love 4wd auto. Such an elite/nice option, if the vehicle has it. My 1999 GMC had it, but my 2012 Cummins does not. :( Great vid. though!

    I have enjoyed my At4 6.2 for 3 years and ready for a change. I really like the look of the ZR2. Don’t pull anything or do off road . One shouldn’t worry about what others think, but, I am 76 and don’t want to be perceived as too over the top.

      I don’t feel like the ZR2 is over the top by any means. It’s not like the Raptors or TRX trucks with the significantly wider stance and overall setup.

    since it is a zr2, does it not have a G80 auto lock rear diff? Do the front and rear diff only lock when you lock them electronically via the dash buttons? Or does Auto, 4Hi or 4Lo auto lock the rear, front or both rear and front diff's when you choose those options?

    • @MOHAWKAUTO
      @MOHAWKAUTO  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They still lock automatically from what I know and can tell from driving it. The ZR2 just adds a locking front and the ability to lock the front and rear full time instead of having to wait for slip to occur.

    • @claysmurthwaite2386
      @claysmurthwaite2386 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you look in the spec sheets for the zr2 it says limited slip/elocker axle.. so I'm assuming when out of locking the diffs it's limited slip your feeling.. which to me is the best of both worlds. Great fun with traction control completely off and the ability to completely lock when slow in the bush

    you dont have the slightest clue how winter tires work.
    my dad has 3 peak rated wranglers on his f150 and they're shit in the snow, just like any AT or mud.

    • @MOHAWKAUTO
      @MOHAWKAUTO  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean, you’re wrong about my knowledge, but that’s okay. Not all 3PMSF are created equal and they are not the same as M+S. Please don’t get the idea that I was suggesting that 3PMSF means you can do some snow running off-road type things. They’re meant for severe winter driving. Like all tires, there’s give and take and what’s good for mud may be terrible on icy conditions and vice versa. Maybe I should do a full video on just tires. Would that help?

    • @Dan-ce3sd
      @Dan-ce3sd 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MOHAWKAUTOamongst other things, you said:
      1. more surface area is good for winter tires
      2. deep threads allow you to dig through to the snow to get to the compacted snow or even the asphalt below
      3,. the point of sipping is creating more surface area and clearing out the snow
      all these statements are plain wrong.
      1. theres a reason why people always recommend to get narrower with your winter tires. just go look at the size of WRC rally snow tires. its because snow on snow friction is better than rubber on snow friction and it responds better to pressure than surface area. since having a smaller surface area increases the pressure, that's what you want. we're not trying to float over 6 feet of fresh snow here.
      2. I know you can read that BS everywhere online but its laughable. this idea of digging through snow to get at whats below is just not a thing. when you roll on fresh snow it just gets squashed into compacted snow and that compacted snow doesnt just magically disappear.
      3. the point of sipping is actually capturing snow, not clearing it, so you can get that snow on snow friction going. just look at real winter tires that have been through some wet, deep snow... they look like snowballs. sipping also create a bunch of little edges that help with ice.
