Never use putty filler. It fills the scratch too much and unevenly. Just use the correct paint, high quality clear coat, and buff/polish. Can go one step further before polishing by lightly sanding with 2000grit. But the the previously scratched area will look better than the rest of the car and it will make you want to sand/polish the entire car LOL. This is how obsessions are started lol
Thanks for the video, but the part I was looking for, how to smooth out the surface afterward, was missing. Seems to me that being able to finish off the repair so that it is invisible (or nearly so) is the main point. But more than anything, what the hell is that clanging racket in the background at the start? Not sure what you were thinking there.
Wasn't really a brushstroke. He was more or less just shifting the paint that was already there to fill in the crack. If he was "brushing it on" it wouldn't have worked at all lol. The word "dab" was just to emphasize that you're not literally wiping the shit on like a canvas.
Did a bunch of Fiberglass work, we were always taught that the filler must be worked slightly LOWER than the surface to allow for the paint to ever so slightly "fill" so that when you sand and polish it is flat, not like the wagon scratch video, I unfortunately need to test this on my keyed black metallic suv
This video is so much better than that g wagon video from 3 years ago. Experience? i thing so. But why not sand down with 5000grit (feathered around the scratch to blend ) and then polish?
I notice a lot of complaints here but if it's a relatively quick and not to involved scratch repair procedure that's required I think this offers a relatively good blue which can be modified to each individuals taste/knowhow. I'm going to modify it by adding paint to the filler.
Larry we all know you are the God of good looks for cars. I need your expertise! I just purchased a Tesla model 3 and decided to ceramic coat it but I clay bar'ed it, compounded and polished it and then added the Gyeon MOHS kit. Today was 100hr. so it was cured. I had to get into my truck, opened it and my bike rack hit the back causing 1 1/2 high scratch by about a pencil thick whith a minor dent as well. Should I do what you showed in this video? Or get paint and wet sand and compound/polish or purchase Dr. Colorchip? Please help, thank you
CompSource Inc. hey, man! What ended up happening..? Did you find a fix!?!? I’ve recently had a similar disturbance occur while taking my girlfriends car out for a spin..
Larry never replied to this comment or an email I sent. So I tried the Dr. Colorchip mind you because the Tesla is aluminum it did have a good divot. I added 2-3 coats and id say 90% of people would never ever notice it. My only other option would have been bondo etc. which I didn't want to bother with.. Good luck
Please is always my dream to know how to learn to fix deep scratches for my personal use, can't afford to go to school can you tell me what products do I need and where I can buy those products
Thanks for sharing! Any specific reason to dab paint on instead of taping off and spraying? Seems spray would leave smoother surface than dabbed on paint, so curious about this.
Bro please help me out, I'm trying to get the items in your video to repair some scratches on my car and none of the auto body supply shops know what liquid pain leveler is can u hoop me up with a link to purchase please.
Someone please show me where I can find a video where I can find a more relatable deep scratch. All I’m seeing are videos of these small line scratches that don’t even look deep. I’m sure they are but I recently got two mean scratches and their width are more than a skinny little line. Some of the paint is completely gone from this deep scratches, so I don’t know what to do or where to go, to get these scratches taken cared of.
hi, nice videos, somewhere in a Russian video i seen long time ago, a rechergable stab tool, like a mini polier machine, with a lot of extras for paint repair. I cant remember name and brand so i cant find! Any idea?
If I need to get some paint at the car dealer would be better if they fix my paint.. In this video you did not sand the paint, you did not use polish either and you had finish using wax to protect the paint and the fixed zone.
The putty is good but I would recommend using a spray can rather than the touch up brush after the putty and paint leveler. Then, follow up with the clearcoat. It blends a lot better.
interesting points ,if anyone else needs to find out about car spray painting course try Corbandy Car Sprayer Crusher (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my cousin got cool results with it.
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else is searching for car spray painting courses try Corbandy Car Sprayer Crusher (just google it ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my mate got excellent results with it.
paint was removed by the object that did the scratch. The entire void must be filled with paint and then wet sanded level, then buffed. Same goes for the Mercedes SUV vid you did long time ago (the door that got keyed). You are doing it so so wrong. I hope someday you will learn to fill paint voids with paint, not filler.
I have seen videos kind of doing what you indicate, but if you could add more details on how to do it properly/upload a video, it would be nice for those of us who can get the right touch-up paint but not the kit from this video. Cheers.
You are creating the ultimate collection of quick care videos!?? Thumbs down, I Agree with the comments below this is not a correct method Of it will look like shit which is why you don't see end results
PAINT LEVELER Man.... some of you would make horrible P.I.'s. If you pause @1:32 you can clearly see the brand name of the product: ScratchWizard ScratchLeveler Eyes.... use them👀
If anyone is interested in spray painting the greatest results that i've ever had was by using the Magic Painter Method (just google it) definately the no.1 course i've followed.
There are several components to doing a pro job. One place I discovered that successfully combines these is the Magic Painter Method (google it if you're interested) definately the most useful course i've heard of. Check out this awesome resource.
This is not how to do it, you start with cleaning, then paint on the primer, then fill the gap with clear coat and buff the clearcoat to perfection after curing. 3 steps perfect result.
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else wants to learn about car spray painting tips and techniques try Sovallo Auto Painting Fixer (just google it ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin got amazing results with it.
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else trying to find out car spray painting at home try Jaffacter Paint Sprayer Coach (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my partner got great success with it.
Yes, but if that's the main concern, he could have saved time and money and just used his wife's nail varnish! Face it, he's just a shoddy bodger, masquerading as a craftsman and you know it.

Absolutely correct.

2:06 "not brushing or wiping" - as he takes a nice brushstroke 😂

a trick : you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching a lot of movies recently.
🤣🤣🤣 exactly what I wanted to say 🤣🤣🤣
This video would be helpful if it showed how this process could be done using only household available items.
You tested this? How did it turn out?
What is paint leveler? I cant find it anywhere! Is there anything else I can use to remove the extra putty?
This has worked amazingly!
This video is so much better than that g wagon video from 3 years ago. Experience? i thing so.
But why not sand down with 5000grit (feathered around the scratch to blend ) and then polish?
The video with the G wagon was just a test, it was going to get repainted anyway.
the finish will look like crap. believe me.
"Less annoying to look at" isn't cutting it for me...
I notice a lot of complaints here but if it's a relatively quick and not to involved scratch repair procedure that's required I think this offers a relatively good blue which can be modified to each individuals taste/knowhow. I'm going to modify it by adding paint to the filler.
What is the name of that paint leveler and where can i buy it ?
use automotive lacquer thinner...works the same as paint leveler. The glazing compound is lacquer base so lacquer thinner will remove the excess.

Where can I buy the products needed for this repair?
can I mix the clear coat with the touch up paint and apply both at the same time as Larry did in the other touch up repair video?
what is liquid leveler composition ???
automotive lacquer thinner
Where does one buy foam block and why didn’t you show the finished job
Which paint thinner should be recommended to use? Also, any change that it'll damage the clear coat?
automotive lacquer thinner
Very nice ! 👍
You didn't show the finishing .
He's done this on other channels, check out his website, I believe it was a G wagon that he repaired after being vandalized.
The faceless g wagon g wagon g wagon
Please is always my dream to know how to learn to fix deep scratches for my personal use, can't afford to go to school can you tell me what products do I need and where I can buy those products
pedro Gonzalez There's a list of products in the video. The products are available in your local car shop or on-line.
I need to know what foam block, what brand or style of filler putty and paint lever, and clear coat, I'm going to have to use
Classic review 👌
Whats the name of this putty that used for this purpose?
Is there something you can use if liquid paint leveler is not handy?
Did this scratch penetrate through the base coat? Did it go through the metal as well?
Yes it went to the metal. You can see the primer as white on the edges of the scratch.
The main point to this video was to prevent rust.
Thanks for sharing! Any specific reason to dab paint on instead of taping off and spraying? Seems spray would leave smoother surface than dabbed on paint, so curious about this.
Hello, what about FILLER PUTTY? Can you tell me what exactly is it? There are hundreds of putties on the market ...
kinda agree with "Less annoying to look at"
so disappointed that literally no stores around my area sell paint leveler. are there any alternatives for a leveling process?
I couldn't find the needed ingredients either. I noted that the tube in the video said wizard so I googled Wizard scratch repair and found a kit.
Yankee Jedi it's only offered in the kit I think and I can't find a kit with my paint type. I guess I'll just use alcohol
Erfahn H It is actually semen
It’s called PAINT THINNER , SOLD EVERYWHERE
HOME DEPOT AUTOZONE WALMART
Can you do like a really big scratch
Will this work with a grey car as well ?
Don't you have to 2500 sand it and then buff or no?
I couldn't find the paint leveler in AutoZone. Does somebody knows where to find it or does regular acetone works?
Bro please help me out, I'm trying to get the items in your video to repair some scratches on my car and none of the auto body supply shops know what liquid pain leveler is can u hoop me up with a link to purchase please.

Jose B. Use a thicker brush or take it to a body shop.
DID NOT SHOW END PRODUCT
Does it work on normal/matte plastic?
How can we perchase these things
hi, nice videos, somewhere in a Russian video i seen long time ago, a rechergable stab tool, like a mini polier machine, with a lot of extras for paint repair. I cant remember name and brand so i cant find! Any idea?
Why not just fill in the scratch with clear coat since it didn’t go through the color coat then level it out?
If I need to get some paint at the car dealer would be better if they fix my paint..
In this video you did not sand the paint, you did not use polish either and you had finish using wax to protect the paint and the fixed zone.
Useless
wtf thats it? i was expecting a few more steps, it would look even shittier if you don't make the touch up paint smooth...
He's wannabe Protech Detail Experts since 1980
Can this work on bikes?
The putty is good but I would recommend using a spray can rather than the touch up brush after the putty and paint leveler.
Then, follow up with the clearcoat. It blends a lot better.
George Scott Nonsense, that way you just mess up a whole panel. Best to touch up.
You can blend it into an edge very easily with paint thinner and clear coat
Thank you.
what is the paint leveler, please?
Where's part 2?

Larry does this putty filler method in another video on a Mercedes G wagon SUV. Looks like trash when done.
i just chrashed lol i hope it works
should of showed finished product
And someone should learn proper english. It's 'should have', NOT 'should of'. 'Should of' makes no sense.
John Grieve you should shut the fuck up
This is not how to do it, you start with cleaning, then paint on the primer, then fill the gap with clear coat and buff the clearcoat to perfection after curing. 3 steps perfect result.
Black is too easy.Do it with red or blue candy then.
Where's the before and after man tf!!
Noise is super annoying
No finish. Thumbs down, was a bad ending. I look at the comments and I don't want to take this advise.
Yeah, in other words, this doesn't really work.

Ok
Thumbs down it probably looked like sh#$ that’s why he didn’t show the end result
What a waste of time.
I know thats a mess.He was better off without the putty probably.

So instead of the scratch, you get a raised line of paint instead and no lacquer top coat! Ok, that's not bad for an amateur.
