I really dislike the title of that article because it seems like its worded specifically to make readers against the girl from the start. Like its trying to make readers think "wow what a bad choice this generation is awful" right away, and they may not even read past that which is a shame and totally unfair. This girl is so impressive to have turned her life around like that and be working so hard! Good for her!!

I struggle with mental illnesses, I really struggled with self-harming, I found a tattoo artist who is awesome we are covering the scars with my favorite Disney characters as Disney makes me happy. it will be like a patchwork sleeve when its finished this summer will be the first in over 13 years I won't have to wear a hoodie. the last years heatwave in the UK made me really ill as I was in long sleeves and couldn't cool down I am looking forward to the summer for the first time ever. my tattoos have helped me so much. i can never thank my tattoo artist enough he is awesome

When I got my collarbone tattooed (my first highly visible tattoo) one of the first things my mother told me was "you'll have to find some good makeup to cover that on your wedding". If I like something so much I want it permanently on my body, why would I want to cover it up?
And as for tattoos not looking as good when I'm old and wrinkly, well, I'll hardly be the epitome of societies beauty standards myself, and that doesn't mean my tattoos can't still tell my story.

I get the logic and I respect her commitment to keeping herself motivated to working towards her dream. It’s still a shame though that there is a stigma around people with face tattoos that they can’t get a “normal” job it’s so silly and superficial to judge someone so harshly purely on an aesthetic decision they have made for their body. I don't think face tattoos are as big of a deal as they used to be but we still have a ways to go.
I live in a tiny village in Scotland and one of our bus driver's faces is absolutely covered in tattoos, everyone loves him because he's one of the best drivers for that bus, he's so polite and he always brings his little boy who loves riding around on the bus all day talking to different people.
Whenever there's a conversation about face tattoos I always think of those two haha

I am a massage therapist, but before that I had office jobs. Some places were more accepting of tattoos than others. Once I got established in massage and realized how much I enjoy what I do, I finally got tattooed dots on my fingers. It might not seem like a lot to some people, but to me represents the freedom of not having to dim my light because other people don't like how I choose to present myself.

And then I'll be like in the shower or writing something and glance at my arms and be like "oh yeah. I got those. Hmm." And go back to my task and everyone I speak to at work with tattoos says they do the same damn thing. 😂 face tattoos personally turn me off. But I mean you do you. It's your face 🤷‍♀️

My first reaction (based on the title) was to think of this as an attempt by someone to be edgy and frivolous.
Now that I've watched the video I'm in two minds about her decision. On one hand, I respect her for being so sure of herself and knowing herself so well that she could make that decision in good confidence and that it would encourage her to work harder to achieve her goals. Truly inspiring. Love that about her and this story.
At the same time, I would've been disappointed if this wasn't a "happy ending" type of story and she either had a change of heart or for some reason got denied her dream of having a job in the tattoo industry and then either found herself struggling to be successful in another line of work OR started using her face tattoos as an excuse to not actively try to find a "real" job.

This is a beautiful article. What really resonated with me is the section about her relationship with her father. How he now seems to respect and support her. As someone who is actively getting tattooed during this point in my life, some of my family raises their eyebrows or makes a face when I mention I've got a tattoo appointment or they see me doodling a tattoo design for myself (my family is aware I freelance some designs as commissions) But despite them not personally liking tattoos and preferring I would stop, they have never stopped supporting me. Each new one I've had since my first they have smiled seeing how happy I am and genuinely say its beautiful. So seeing that tattoos can help strengthen relationships, that is something I think is amazing.

The real and most "exposed" one I got after 1 year of tattooing for the exact same reason as the girl: I didn't want to work with anything else in my life but tattooing, so I did as a commitment, I treated the "ritual" of getting my hands and face tattooing some sort of engament and wedding with the tattoo, I love them more and more by the day, I love what tattoos have changed in my life and how my parents changed their vision of it as well

There's a story behind every tattoo. I love them for that, and for their beauty. People are so consumed with their own lives these days, that maybe something " startling" like a tattoo( for some) is a way to start a conversation. One that may never have started had it not been for the tattoo!

I used to study journalism so I've written a couple of articles myself, some short, some quite long. I can tell you that the reason they used "etched" instead of "tattoo" is probably to avoid repetition of the same word. Being how this article is about a girl that got a tattoo on her face, they're probably gonna mention that word quite a lot, and one of the first things you are taught when you study journalism is to avoid repetition. For my time in journalism, Google was my best friend when it came to searching a synonims.

Morgan Joyce once said in a video that being covered in tattoos made her feel more confident and more herself. She feels like she’s who she really is with tattoos and I think that’s the best way to explain it to people

My dad wasn’t as extreme as hers, but when my dad saw mine he told me if I get any more I won’t be welcome in his house anymore, and he continues to give them disgusted looks when he sees me and they’re not covered. Makes me sad that someone could be so closed minded

I think it’s brave and shows confidence. She is determined, she is confident, she is on a mission. Essentially, she went walking across the wire without a net and she believes that she’s getting to the other side without falling. She’s body positive, she is supportive of those with self harm scars, she’s thriving in a male dominated industry. So much power to her. Happy for her and hope she succeeds beyond her own expectations.

People say: ,,Don't get visible tattoos, because you will not get some job opportunities."
I think we should look at it other way around too. Do we really want to dedicate our precious time to place and people that see just your exterior and not your skills, while also being judgmental.

Maybe I’m weird, but I got my face tattooed without hesitation. I’m moderate to heavily tattooed, but I’ve got space left and I still didn’t wait to run out of space first. The center of your face is still a bigger deal, and I’m not there, but I love them! Side face tattoos just don’t seem like a big deal anymore and that rocks. If you can be employed and have your face tattoo, I hope more people do it:)

I forget how parents can be assholes towards their kids getting tattoos. I couldn't imagine my mom or dad telling me I won't be a bridesmaid in their wedding cause of my tattoos. I was lucky to have two parents who are pretty covered and have been there when I got both of mine done.

I mean, realistically, her face tattoos were like her physical vow to herself that she would work hard in the industry she loves, stay passionate about her art, help people every single day, abandon the unproductive lifestyle and mindset she was living before and blossom as a person and live her best life. That’s beautiful tbh 🌹

I have had major weightloss which is a very big play on the mind. I got two smaller tattoos but now doing a piece that will take up half my body. People comment about how I will regret it, but they didn't care about my body at 170+on heavier.

I would be a little surprised at first but I wouldn't respond negatively to a face tattoo. I would never get inked(because the only needle I'm comfortable with is a sewing needle.) but I have a lot of respect for the people turning their bodies into a canvas/art gallery. It's a big commitment and it can be really beautiful.

I feel sad that her dad said those things to her, I wanna give her a hug. While I would never get a throat (a lot of that has to do with PTSD) I have had panic attacks when a necklace is sitting against my throat in a way that it feels like it might press in to hard on my throat. So I know for a fact that I wouldn't be able to handle someone tattooing that area and I wouldn't want to freak out mid tattoo because that wouldn't be fair to the artist. I wouldn't mind like the back of my neck being tattooed or behind my ears but I respect other peoples choices.
If it was a face tattoo it would likely be something small near my hairline kinda thing but again someone would have to be very close to my face and that would be hard for me. I always make sure my husband is with me when I get a tattoo and I very much try to make sure the person who is tattooing me is female or at least is now, only one of my tattoos was done by a woman but it is one of my favorite tattoos.
For me it's like.. What does it matter? It's her body and she isn't hurting anyone. If she loves it then it's her right. I hate it when people try to police someone else's body. Maybe I am a bit more sensitive to that because I have had control of my own body taken away from me.

I think her reasoning is really similar to someone choosing to move to a new country (especially one that doesn’t speak the same language) for the opportunity and to take that risk towards your passions! It shows her commitment! She acknowledges the size of her risk, is respectful of other people’s opinions and doesn’t force her beliefs down people’s throats! I’m sad that this had to be covered in BBC but I hope that this is another step towards normalising and equality for us with tattoos!

Hi! I've been watching some of your content lately and I do really enjoy the way you present the information and how entertaining and educative you make it. Therefore I'm willing to share sth with your community. I've had my sternum tattooed for a little bit less than a year now and i love it. It's nothing out of the ordinary: a few lavenders (or wheat spikes, depending on how I'm feeling that day) placed upside down with its rotation axis made in bnw. To sum up, I feel like it's a pretty tattoo that has a meaning to me, but I when I see it, I think that it doesn't show up as much as I'd like to and I don't know what to do. I've been wanting a few other tattoos so I don't really know if by having others that can show up a little bit more my raging desire for a flashing tattoo will be soothed :)) Have any of you ever felt sth similar?

Hey, love your videos! I was wondering what you think about tattoos with red linework (or colored line work in general) is it just water color that fades or as a general rule is it anything that doesn't have a black border? When I get tattoos I always check if they're gonna last a long time not just look good for five years, so I'd appreciate if you had an answer for this nube question lol.

OMG her face tattoos are stunning! As someone who's heavily tattooed and employed I absolutely get where she's coming from.
