    New subbie here! (Recommendation by the beautiful Claudia Glows). Loving your videos! And your skin!!! I just do pretty simple mild chemical exfoliation...Pixi Glow Tonic once a day alternating with the Ordinary Lactic Acid, and yes LOVE the Ordinary AHA/BHA peel. Powerful and SO effective. My latest discovery is Bay Harbor Beauty Pumpkin Enzyme Mask. Really a beautiful exfoliating mask. I use the Ordinary once a week and Bay harbor Beauty once a week. So glad I found your channel ❤️

That's great you use the mild exfoliators and then also the AHA/BHA peel which really packs a punch. It's a really good one! I will have to look into that Pumpkin Enzyme mask. I have one as well and really love it! I am so glad I found your channel as well as I've been catching up on your videos yesterday. You have some really great content. @@claudiaglows Thank you so much, Claudia. :) You are too sweet. I think the lighting makes a big difference! About the Ordinary's peel - that would be great if you were able to try it out. It really is a good one. If you do a TCA peel, maybe just start with the lowest one and then you would gain confidence in the experience and everything. I know how you feel though because I used to get so nervous. I haven't done that many, but the last one I did I felt totally fine and not nervous and it went well. :) I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. You've been putting out some really great content. I use 20% glycolic acid cream on my face and body. It doesn't peel, it smoothes. I worked my way up from Reversa body lotion 8% glycolic to 10%, 15% and 20%. I feel like it isn't doing it anything anymore, i'd like to try a peel but i am so scared something will go wrong and it will damage my skin.

      @LifeDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Terry! Thanks so much for this nice comment. I am so excited for you to try out peels! They are amazing. Great question about the moisturizers. Personally, I love using a little serum mixed with oil. The serum I am using now is from Good Molecules (I think it's their peptide or antioxidant serum), mixed with avocado oil or any other face oil. I find it to be so calming and soothing after doing a peel. And, I also love the ingredients. If I need more moisture, I have been using an incredible moisturizer that I really love, but it's pricey. The moisturizer is called Succulent by a brand called Good Face Stuff (the owner of the brand is a youtuber, Leda Lum). I really love that moisturizer as the ingredients are high quality, amazing for the skin is it is ultra moisturizing for dry skin. Other than that moisturizer, I really haven't found a good one in a long time. If I didn't have that one, I would probably go with Dr. Jart's Ceramidin cream or serum - both are incredibly good for the skin and also super hydrating and soothing. I hope this helps. I am testing out more moisturizers now as I am trying to find some really good ones that aren't so pricey.

      Thanks so much, Monica. That is a great question. It varies all the time depending on how my skin is doing and if I'm doing other treatments. But, overall, in the past I would sometimes do them once every two weeks. Depending on the peel, you may be fine doing it once a week too - if you don't have super sensitive skin and don't have any issues with that. If doing a deeper peel, once a month would be fine.

    What would you recommend in terms of moving up after the ordinary bha/aha mask? I've been using that for a year without any issue but I need something stronger/it's not helping with pigmentation spots or forehead wrinkles. Would you go straight to TCA's or is there something in between?

    Thank you Holly for the great recommendations! I also use the Ordinary one, and love it, how would you say it compares to a 30% glycolic? :)

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      MsKaterinaKo, thank you! I replied yesterday but my comment disappeared. :) One difference between the two is that their AHA/BHA peel has more ingredients - Glycolic, Lactic, Tartaric, Citric Acid & salicylic - a nice combination of ingredients that are beneficial to the skin but the pH of the Ordinary's peel is also quite a bit higher (3.5-3.7) than a regular glycolic 30% peel from Platinum Skincare (2.1). There is a lot of science behind it, but normally a product with a higher pH may not be as effective. But, from what I've read, if it has a higher percentage of AHAs, it may still be effective at a higher pH. I think for me, my skin likes the combination of ingredients in the Ordinary's peel. But, I will still do plain glycolic peels that have lower pH levels because they can work probably more deeply and effectively at improving the skin. If interested, there is a pretty good explanation about pH on here: www.platinumskincare.com/ph-buffering-compounds-and-free-acid/.

    Are the lactic acid peels for sensitive skin also?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for my late reply! Lactic Acid is often used on people who have sensitive skin. Mandelic peels are said to be less harsh than glycolic and glycolic is said to not be ideal for sensitive skin. There are so many options out there though and many different products. So, for someone with sensitive skin, they might be fine if it's formulated a certain way or has less than 10% glycolic.

    Hoping to get an answer here about microneedling.
    I did a microneedling at home with dr pen a6 and it went well. However I got very subtle and almost no erythema. What am I doing "wrong"? Is it normal to not get erythema? Was I too lighthanded? Em, so sorry for the late reply. I think you may want to ask Penny this on her channel. But, I can share my opinion and experience here though. I used to get absurdly red and inflamed from microneedling. Now when I do it, I sometimes barely get red at all. What depth did you do? Even if I go deeper now, I barely get red. I don't think it means you are doing anything wrong. You may want to try with the 12 pin cartridge though. Have you seen any results yet? Did you get any flaking or dry skin the week after the treatment? And, did it hurt during the treatment? Maybe your skin is just not super sensitive and can handle this needling injury a bit better, not causing a lot of redness. My skin usually gets red from everything. But, it has become used to the treatment where I now barely get red but I still get results. :)

      Terri, thanks for the question. None of the peels (other than TCA peels, or salicylic peels of a strength of 10% or higher) cause me any noticeable peeling (no large flakes). For some people, they may experience some flakes but it depends on the strength of the peel. For me, if I do a higher strength glycolic peel, I may end up with some dry flakes but it has always been the kind that is mild, manageable and I can hide it with a lot of hydration (I use a serum with a few drops of avocado oil and a drop of glycerin).

    I’mBinging your channel.. what peel(s) do you recommend for chest & hands?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! If it were me, I'd do TCA peels on the hands. I have done a few of them in the past and they work really well, especially if you have sunspots and texture. When it comes to the hands, you really need something stronger than normal. The chest is a bit different though. The skin is often more sensitive. For me, I would go with a glycolic peel and start with a fairly lower percentage - maybe around 15%. It might be a little uncomfortable but should give great results if you do repeated treatments. I need to start doing that as I often just do my face and later on, probably in 10 years I will regret not doing my neck also. :)

      Life & DIY thank you so much!!
      🙈Those TCA’s scare me, I thought my cloths would rub my ‘not to peel off’ peeling chest- BUT I’ll find the lowest % tca and give it a try. Maybe this will help me be brave enough to do my face, I use “the ordinary” acid peel once a week along with almost daily facemasks Specific help loosen dead skin . I wasn’t sure if the TCA would even be needed if we’re regularly doing all these mini peels 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Which one of those peels can be micro needle?

    • @LifeDIY
      @LifeDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oz, none! That would be super painful and irritating. You could do a light peel and then a number of days or a week later do microneedling.

    Hi sweetheart. I think I need to unsub right now, cause I have bad experiences with everything and I don't want to bring anyone down. I think you are a amazing and cool person though, and I might sub again later. Last peel I did caused half of my face to go numb and that was kind of scary for me. I just don't think I respond well to this stuff for some odd reason, but I wish everyone the best and best results! I still have needle marks from microneedling. And I feel guilty for sharing any negative experiences cause I don't want to rain on anyones happy times. I wish you the best though! I honestly think this anti-aging world is messing with my head mentally though, and I need to get off this train, and I need to take a 100 percent break from seeing videos ect….

      Hey Jenny. :) ☀️ Thanks for the comment and I understand. I know you've had some problems with some of the anti-aging methods and I am so sorry to hear it. I think you seem like an amazing person too and I have enjoyed chatting with you on here. I totally understand and I hope you come back someday! :) Take care ok!

      Little dramatic lol
      I did microneedle at 2.5 depth with 11 needle cartridges on my face and healed after 2 weeks and yes thats 2.5 depth which is the maximum depth.
      Whatever experience you had with microneedle couldn't be that bad🤣
