    I have a 2016 R9T... Out of the 8 bikes in my garage it is the worst handling, the harshest and most uncomfortable. The suspension is crap - especially the rear!! There is no slipper clutch which is just a pity! BMW is charging much too much for these bikes... Regards!

      Im not sure if you can have a slipper clutch on a single plate design that these have. Ill agree with you in suspension. Rear is just meh.
      As far as price, i did my homework and got $1,000 off through BMW deals plus $750 military discount (which also means no taxes) to bring my 2020 /5 down to $9,995 out the door. Thats a really good price for this bike.

    • @motobob
      @motobob  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How so? It's just a Z900 with a few tweaks to make it into a retro, isn't it? I'm not saying it's a bad bike at all, but the equivalent would be BMW putting a round headlight etc. on the F900R.

    • @stuartmoore8002
      @stuartmoore8002 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@motobob different engine tune, different gearing, different suspension (although the new z900 now has adjustable suspension, it didn't before 2020), different subframe and upper frame, the RS also had traction control before the Z900 so at the time was different, different wheels, higher spec monobloc brakes. So basically Kawasaki built the RS around the Z900 engine...kinda what BMW do with the boxer engine... or as you put it - putting a round headlight etc on any of the R1200 models.

    Here in Thailand, the cost of the BMW R Nine T is ฿ 1,090,000 ($ 34,924.71 US, or £25,047.47), and the cost of the Triumph Rocket 3 R is ฿ 965,000.00 ($ 30,919.58 US, or £22,175.06), so the choice is easy. I wouldn't buy the BMW. I would buy the Triumph.

    Great Video. I was thinking about RniteT and then I went to a dealer to try one (urban GS) ...it turned out that the sitting position is too sporty for my taste and the couch is very small (not able to reasonably accommodate a pillion when touring). It looks great and I'm sure that it is perfect for a short solo ride and an instagram photo.. but it is not what I've hoped for -> a do it all contemporary version of R80GS.

      @hetane That’s a totally fair, and in my experience, accurate, take. I had a 2014, which I ordered the first month they were available. It was a beautiful bike for solo riding, and I wish I hadn’t sold it five years later. But now that I’m a little older, I’d love a more comfortable seating position (even with risers installed I was still doing a lot of leaning forward) and an easier way to mount a bag. I’d love an updated R80GS, but as a shorter dude, I fear the R NineT is BMW’s only practical seat height.

      I can tell you. From riders perspective, not hot at all. The heat from the engine magically goes everywhere BUT you, which took me by surprise.
      Now the BIKE on the other hand is tuned so lean that heat can actually shut the bike off if it determines its too hot. I had a moment it was 98degrees and after 30min of spirited riding it shut off at a stop light to keep itself cool. I asked a BMW tech about it and it is a confirmed feature of the bike.

    Real life review on the s1000r pls!!! I’ve ordered the race version but won’t arrive down to us here in OZ till end of July. Dying for review in English :) thanks for all the great work!

    Aren't those the end cans that were created by Akrapovitch specifically for the Yamaha MT03 660 way back in 2006?

    A few years ago, Park Lane BMW in London had the met blue and chrome special edition in their window - what a peach! (Apologies for all the nose smudges, drool and finger prints all over the glass!) Other than that, I’ve found the heritage models a bit hit-and-miss... until now! These four make a cracking set! My favourite? Impossible choice, but the flake green scrambler with the lazy geometry and gold rims is more me 👍 Did someone say lazy?! Where do I sign...?

    Nice review of the different models.
    If you don't mind searching and perhaps holding off until you find the right one why not save a packet and get a used R 1150 or R 1200.

    Thanks for this video Bob. Great. I'd have to choose the low seat height model because of my inside
    leg measurement. Would spec it up a touch with silver pin striping on the fuel tank, following the creases.
    One could make this machine a real looker.

    I think they should all come with a rev counter. A bit mean of BMW not to include one considering the price. Otherwise they all look very nice indeed.

    The two I want are no more
    /5 or the Racer.
    I will say that if you buy a bmw, expect to use it for a very very very long time

    They are lovely bikes and I almost bought one, but in the end I went for the 2021 GS1250. I love that retro look and the quirkiness but the GS does all the same and more.

      Having no idea of pricing (which can vary country wise) was your GS1250 more or less than the range topper here? Cheers from Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺👍

      @@darylclifford Hi, I reckon that the GS is a much more expensive bike, and would be around AUD 37,000 with all options. (24k EUR)

      I sold my R1250GS to get an rninet, the gs is a good bike don't get me wrong but it lacks character for me. I have way more fun on the rninet. You feel disconnected from the road on the gs.
