    These little bikes are where it’s at! The Rninet isn’t a retro anything, more of a bike BMW made up to commemorate 90years of BMW. This doesn’t take away from the fact it’s an amazing little bike. I’ve always liked the Pure the best. 🤘

    I test drove a Scrambler today and i loved it, but I think the best value for me is to get the Pure and throw on the $1000 upgrade package. It still saves me $3K off of the scrambler and keeps it lower than the T120 Gold LIne that i also drove.

    What I just don't like, at least in Mexico, is how they keep getting more and more expensive without changing one thing. A dash without fuel level nor gear indicator is unacceptable at 13000 USD.

    Just for price comparison. In Norway, the NineT Pure is £16,000 while the The Scrambler and Urban GS is £16,500. A fully spec'd up NineT Pure is £21,000. That's a Lot of money for a retro bike. That's Superbike territory. The Nine T Roadster is £19,600... Personally, i'd go with the Pure. Clean looks and stylish, combined with that i hit the twisties hard and never go off-road or on tour.

    Great Video. I was thinking about RniteT and then I went to a dealer to try one (urban GS) ...it turned out that the sitting position is too sporty for my taste and the couch is very small (not able to reasonably accommodate a pillion when touring). It looks great and I'm sure that it is perfect for a short solo ride and an instagram photo.. but it is not what I've hoped for -> a do it all contemporary version of R80GS.

    • @austin_tremblay
      @austin_tremblay 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @hetane That’s a totally fair, and in my experience, accurate, take. I had a 2014, which I ordered the first month they were available. It was a beautiful bike for solo riding, and I wish I hadn’t sold it five years later. But now that I’m a little older, I’d love a more comfortable seating position (even with risers installed I was still doing a lot of leaning forward) and an easier way to mount a bag. I’d love an updated R80GS, but as a shorter dude, I fear the R NineT is BMW’s only practical seat height.

    Rode an Bumblebee Urban GS yesterday. While the built quality is top notch, and the engine is an absolute peach, i couldnt really warm up to it.

    • @deadlyapollo
      @deadlyapollo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can tell you. From riders perspective, not hot at all. The heat from the engine magically goes everywhere BUT you, which took me by surprise.
      Now the BIKE on the other hand is tuned so lean that heat can actually shut the bike off if it determines its too hot. I had a moment it was 98degrees and after 30min of spirited riding it shut off at a stop light to keep itself cool. I asked a BMW tech about it and it is a confirmed feature of the bike.

      How so? It's just a Z900 with a few tweaks to make it into a retro, isn't it? I'm not saying it's a bad bike at all, but the equivalent would be BMW putting a round headlight etc. on the F900R.

      @@motobob different engine tune, different gearing, different suspension (although the new z900 now has adjustable suspension, it didn't before 2020), different subframe and upper frame, the RS also had traction control before the Z900 so at the time was different, different wheels, higher spec monobloc brakes. Lovely bikes but they got another price tag boost for 2021 and ... its too much. They re charging so much more than their naked modern bikes with better suspensions liquid cooled engines and electronics that it hurts.

    If the "pure" had the inverted fork that would be my choice. It does not cost more to go inverted, at least not much more at the factory level. $5000 extra for a fork and better brakes? cmon BMW do you want to sell bikes or just pilfer extra cash from a few people?

    Funny how this bike is considered retro - apart from a round headlight (and maybe the dials), what design element is retro? And that's just a question regarding design - there's certainly nothing retro about any of the engineering or parts/components.

    Do spoked tires require trueing as on bicycles? Do they require more maintenance than the mags? Thank you anyone.

      NO, nothing.
      (I believe you mean, spoked rims)

      @@tpv59 Thank you for your response and clarifying terminology. Any performance difference or is it purely aesthetic?

      Aesthetic.
      - Although on dirt roads, as with ALL true 'dirt bikes', they ALL ALWAYS have SPOKED Rims to allow for any 'flex'. If they had CAST Rims on Dirt Bikes they would break/crack due to the harsh punishment dirt bikes are made for.
      You will NEVER see any 'Dirt Bike' with CAST rims, NEVER. NEVER. IT is 'impossible'. (Well, it is possible, but they would all break/crack rendering them useless.
      Regards. )
