popptart4 I'm French, and I can say from facts that she wasn't "really popular in France". We only knew her for her role in one movie : "Taxi" (New York Taxi with Queen Latifah is actually the American adaptation of that movie). And even in that movie she had a very tiny role she was the girlfriend of the main character. After that movie (that frist came out in 1998) she completely disappeared. We knew nothing about her until she popped out of nowhere with this role in "La Vie En Rose" & won an Oscar for it. This is a true & sincere success story, tbh we ourselves didn't expect her to go this far.
This actress wins this award for her mind blowing performance and doesn't even receive a standing ovation. She is one the greatest actresses I've ever come across.
Too bad she didn't thank Édith Piaf since she played her life. I guess she was in shock for winning the Oscar! Edith would be so proud of that Performance for sure!
This is a real actress, mindblowing performance in La vie en rose, I have never seen anyone top what she did, unfortunately the Oscars has lower its standards in the last few years, now you see people like Jennifer Lawrence winning an oscar really?
Her expressions were unadulterated and true to the core...tells how good-hearted she is! Nice to watch! Shyness is the topmost asset of feminity...she has that quality in abundance!
Marion Cotillard raised the bar again in "Two Days, One Night". Her performance is astonishing and poetic. I hope to see her nominated for Best Actress in 2015.
They each got a Golden Globe Award. Julie Christie the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama (for "Away From Her") and Marion Cotillard the Golden globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Picture. Christie won all of the film critics awards too with Ellen Page often as the first runner up (for "Juno")
+Joshua Roberts plus Julie Christie holds a near record for the most awards from the crème de la crème award favored by most serious actors (Marlon Brando, Joanne Woodward, Liv Ullman, Ingrid Bergman, Audrey Hepburn, Robert DeNiro, Julie Christie); Julie Christie has a near record Three New York Film Critics Awards for Best Actress (for "Darling" -1966; "Afterglow"-1997 and "Away From Her"-2007-this record is tied with Sissy Spaceck,, Joanne Woodward, DeborahKerr and Liv Ullman, each of which also have three New York Film Critics Best Actress awards (Spaceck for CoalMiner'sDaughter, CrimesofTheHeart, InTheBedroom); Woodward for "Rachel, Rachel", "Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams", "Mr.and Mrs.Bridge"); LivUllman for "TheEmigrants","ScenesFromAMarriage", "FacetoFace";; DeborahKerr for "BlackNarcisus", "HeavenKnowsMr.Allison" "The Sundowners"; Meryl Streep has the record with four:"Sophie'sChoice", "ACryinTheDark", "Julia and Julie", "IronLady"
Julie Christie won in the 60s and she's not the type to be too upset by not winning these things. In fact, she wasn't too keen on going but she didn't want backlash.

After that movie (that frist came out in 1998) she completely disappeared. We knew nothing about her until she popped out of nowhere with this role in "La Vie En Rose" & won an Oscar for it. This is a true & sincere success story, tbh we ourselves didn't expect her to go this far.

Marion Cotillard Best Actress for La Vie en Rose Very deserved
One of the greatest Faith-in-Humanity moments in history.
This actress wins this award for her mind blowing performance and doesn't even receive a standing ovation. She is one the greatest actresses I've ever come across.
still the best winning performance by an actress of all time
I like how they laugh when she says "Thank you life, thank you love!"
She deserved it hands down. One of the greatest acting performances I’ve ever seen. ❤️
Where is the standing ovation to one of the greatest performances in film history?
Too bad she didn't thank Édith Piaf since she played her life. I guess she was in shock for winning the Oscar! Edith would be so proud of that Performance for sure!
Well deserved. Her performance is possibly one of the best EVER.
A performance of a lifetime.
Surely one of the best acting performances, and very well deserved Oscar win for Marion Cotillard.
I had watched the film months ago and I was speechless to her flawless transformation in the character. She was superb and outstanding!
So deserved, she was flawless in the role
This is a real actress, mindblowing performance in La vie en rose, I have never seen anyone top what she did, unfortunately the Oscars has lower its standards in the last few years, now you see people like Jennifer Lawrence winning an oscar really?
It its really stupid right
So sweet, so innocent, so honest...she is absolutely beautiful. Marion, you are my choice each and every year!
I love the reaction from Cate Blanchett,
Thank You Marion Cotillard for remember to us the wonderfull EDITH PIAF
One of the greatest performances of our times!
her acting in La Vie en Rose was AMAZING ❤️🔥
Her expressions were unadulterated and true to the core...tells how good-hearted she is!
Nice to watch!
Shyness is the topmost asset of feminity...she has that quality in abundance!
Marion Cotillard raised the bar again in "Two Days, One Night". Her performance is astonishing and poetic. I hope to see her nominated for Best Actress in 2015.
Yes, that recent performance is not hammy and over the top as the La Vie en Rose film
@@155gerard wdym
@@155gerard she wasnt over the top
Marion Cotillard is the best actress in the history of cinema 😍❤
No that is an exaggerated thing to say. She is fantastic but not the greatest of all time.
I would say she is definitely in the top 10 best
Antonis Georg It's a joke ?
+Enrique Godinez her performance is regarded as such.
No. She is a good actress, perhaps, the best of her generation. The greatest actress of all-time is Katharine Hepburn.
Marion Cotillard was just amazing. I'm a bit sorry for Julie Christie, she could have won in so many other years. But this Oscar belongs to Cotillard.
Julie Christie did win the Oscar for best actress for "Darling." I believe she won in 1966.
Julie Christie also won the SAG award that year as well
Julie Christie won in the 60s and she's not the type to be too upset by not winning these things. In fact, she wasn't too keen on going but she didn't want backlash.
Omg the reaction of the nominees, they were thrilled for Marion. So moving.
She rocked my life!
She is so gorgeous
I know this Marion's win, but this video makes me love CATE! That's how you do sportsmanship
I love how the presenter pronounced her name correctly. Some people just don't bother but he made an effort and nailed it.
Marion cotillard realmente se merecia el oscar, su actuacion en la vien en rose fue perfecta como encarnó su personaje
She is an absolute angel
