Absolutely priceless!! So well deserved - she's always given 110% in every role she's ever played. Mom Janet Leigh and dad Tony Curtis would've been so incredibly proud!!
That is why I love Jaime Lee she recognized how horror was a big part of her career and she shared that moment with those fans of that genre. Most shy sway from it but she never has. ❤
@@priyankarmajumder4152 Why should it be one or the other for the fans? People can love both. I love them both. I screamed when I saw Angela in AHS for example. I think they are both national treasures.
Such a strong category this year. I can honestly say that I would've been fine with all five women and all five characters getting their due recognition. As for Angela, she has given an exquisite memorable performance in Wakanda Forever and I salute the woman, who, in my humble opinion, doesn't "need" the Academy's approval to be iconic. Obviously, I feel Angela's honest disappointment when her name wasn't called. Regardless of that, in a line-up full of strong women and performances, that would've been the time to support a great colleague who's made it in this tough business, at least symbolically! A queen also knows when to salute another, and the fact that Angela refused to clap a single time for another remarkable woman in this industry, let alone one who'd been snubbed for decades by the Academy, was a gesture of bitterness and resentment that was beneath her. It really disappointed me.
Agreed! I don’t know how anyone could go into these award shows believing that they will win. You should never expect anything and you should be happy for whoever wins, even if it’s not you. I found her reaction very off putting. She’s a phenomenal actress. Not winning an award doesn’t take away from that.
Agreed. Angela is astonishing, but Jamie gave a better performance in my opinion. Women should be supporting women. Angela's cold behavior actually makes me happy she didn't win it.
Who doesn't go seriously into acting (or any other endeavor) not thinking of ever being recognized for it? Anyone can process loss however they want. She's a great actress but she doesn't need to act outside performances for your personal satisfaction. Besides, we didn't see her reaction besides that ~1 second after the announcement. So don't act like we can know the person in that split second. If I wanted to see it that way, I can also paint the other nominees as not truly happy for Jamie, clapping the way they clapped.
@@markmywords3817 but itll though, not much was needed to understand she wasn't happy about it. After all, this is an award ceremony, it will not affect her career. It's nice to win but i think it's nicer to just see humble acts of admiration towards your colleages.

She’s been such an inspiring woman. I remember when she came out to support those with body and food issues by exposing her own. She is amazing! Smart! Beautiful!
Congratulations to all of these women. They're so talented and gave their performances their all. They each deserved an Oscar nomination.
This speech always melts my heart, recognizing the horror movies fans and taking us up there with her it’s such a kind gesture, so yes, it turns out we just won an Oscar.
What i like about Jamie's portrayal is that she blended so the lead can have that spotlight at the protagonist. A real supporting actress
Class act always has been, always will be. Wonderful actor, 100% deserved, she is a treasure!
All of nominees were so great and Jamie was cream of cake - what an outstanding performance from her and a great warm speech incl. remembering her parents ❤️
I love Jamie Lee Curtis and I love that she specifically gave a shout-out to all the horror fans who love her. She is the original Scream Queen.
Her mom was also a Scream Queen before that was even a saying.
She really does seem so humble to recognize that all the people who have ever worked with her helped her win an Oscar. So deserving. ❤
Few people can claim to be in the industry for almost 50 years and leave their mark on every decade with memorable performances in each. Hell, her very first movie role was Lori friggin' Strode from Halloween. And she just kept going from there.
Congrats!
What touched me the most is that you can see that Sigourney Weaver had teary eyes for her friend 's win. She was happy for her and i like it.
Where do you see her? May you tell me the time stamp, please?
@@Ronald_Ruck 2'23 when she got up from her seat. She's near Sandra Oh. You can see her being teary eyed also when Ke won.
@@olivierh.7468 WTF are u talking about? You’re seeing things man
Good catch! She did look so emotional. Very sweet.
Aw aw omg that's so sweet. Thank you for pointing that out
Absolutely priceless!! So well deserved - she's always given 110% in every role she's ever played. Mom Janet Leigh and dad Tony Curtis would've been so incredibly proud!!
So well deserved! What a genuine speech and the ending has me in tears.
That is why I love Jaime Lee she recognized how horror was a big part of her career and she shared that moment with those fans of that genre. Most shy sway from it but she never has. ❤
If anyone ever told me that they dont like Jamie Lee Curtis Id be willing to physically fight them.
We love you Jamie 💗
💯💯💯
I don't watch these things, but that was so nice to see. Her gratitude was so sincere
Yes! You vs Angel Bassett fans.
@@priyankarmajumder4152 Why should it be one or the other for the fans? People can love both. I love them both. I screamed when I saw Angela in AHS for example. I think they are both national treasures.
All were deserving, hands down. But I'm really happy Jamie won.
@@oliviathompson9937 Angela basically showed her true colors as entitled and unclassy, shame she couldn't be happy for the better actress that night.
SHE'S MY GIRL!! OMG!! I LOVE HEEEER SO MUCH!! 💗 Congratulations Jamie, you really deserves this! After ALL these years that she made a thousand of movies, she really deserves it for her great work as one of the best actress in the world!
I never watch the Oscars but as a horror fan and fan of JLC, I had to watch this video of her acceptance speech - she made me cry. JLC deserved this … big time. ❤
I was surprised she'd never won an Oscar before, she has a legacy. Jamie deserved this oscar too much. Gratitude
Such a wonderful moment. I've loved Jamie Lee Curtis ever since I first saw Halloween back when I was 8 years old. It goes to show what an incredible woman she is that she gave the horror/genre community a shout out in her acceptance speech, she has never shied away from, or been ashamed of that side of her career (unlike some actors/actresses). What an inspirational woman and a well deserved Oscar.
She’s really all of us ❤
Oh I just got so teary eye with her when she mentioned her mom and dad in her speech. She's like that little girl who's so excited to come home to share something great to her parents because they were the first ones she wanted to embrace the news with. I feel like it's full circle with her and family. Beautiful and sentiment.
All the winners this year were deserving of the Oscar. All the contenders were also deserving. Long time since I had seen something like this and to see the genuine shock in their faces, the humbleness in their speeches, the tears in their eyes, it was incredible. No pretendíng, no masks, just real people, and thats what we need in this social media era. Loved it!
I am writing from Mexico and at least here and other latinoamerican countries Jamie Lee Curtís is a very well known actress, as talented as the others but more famous, wich makes you kinda feel like someone close to you won.
The Oscars this year deserve an Oscar! It had everything!!!
Perfect. Brought us back to how the Oscars should be...
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners!
Fantastic!!
Good for Jamie! This has been a long time coming. Her mom and dad would be so proud of her!!
Great great win. Well deserved
She's a legend and would've won already if the academy recognized horror.
NO ONE was more happy to lose that award than Stephanie Hsu. Her time is coming, she's incredible, but she was SO HAPPY to see Jamie win, and I love it.
Jamie Lee Curtis has got to be one of the most fabulous, talented, and classy actresses I've ever seen! I love you Jamie... I have ever since Halloween 🎃!!
I mean, I've loved you since Halloween!!
Yes, I agree. I have been a fan of Jamie ever since I saw her in Halloween. I was 14 and my brother snuck me in. The movie terrified me but I will never forget falling in love with Laurie Strode. She is now an Oscar winner and more radiant than ever!!!
As Someone Who has admired her work since 35 years ago this Is just..long due and beautiful, hopeful that good things do still happen to the right ones.
I've been a fan of her ever since I saw her for the first time in my alltime fav horror movie Halloween (1978). Very well deserved Jamie!!! Congratulations!!!👏👏❤❤
for me A fish Called Wanda! solid talented actress
She is so great. I loved the "shut up" when she won xDDDD
One of the best actress in the world. Congrats. Well deserved!
So humble and real... I for one really appreciate that JLC never went for surgery or bullshit to look younger. She's aged and just went with it. I think she's just gorgeous at every stage of her wonderful career!
What a beautiful speech; ful of love and respect and at last the tribute to her parents made me cry😢😢😢...love it
From scream queen to genre actress to Oscar winner. Well deserved Jamie Lee!!!
Everyone is so happy for her, love this woman so much.
Except for Angela Bassett her face said everything... I love her as an actor but I kinda lose a little respect with how she reacted...
She was so elegantly expressing her feeling as she won it.
So simple yet very touching speech. Im in tears. She's so happy ❤😊
Months after this it still moves me how the audience got happy and joyful for her. Truly deserved. 2:20
What a Queen.. Love her so much.. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely a very classy woman and heartfelt acceptance speech. So well deserved and overdue Oscar for her.
I literally couldn't be happier or more tearful! JLC is iconic as far as i am concerned, Tony and Janet would be beside themselves that finally she has complete recognition for the superb Actress she is.
what an amazing speech! She totally deserves this Oscar not only for this movie but for Halloween, True Lies, A Fish Called Wanda, Freaky Friday, Trading Places and Knives Out.
In classic movie "Perfect" was absolutly amazing.
She was better than Travolta.
I love a Fish Called Wanda, seen it so many times
She and her dad were never really close; he was absent for most of the time they were both on Earth. She had a much tighter bond with her mom. But here, she speaks to both of her parents, and can feel that they both are proud of her, wherever they are. A truly wonderful thing to witness.
WELL DESERVED WE LOVE HER SO MUCH
Angela Bassett looked pissed 😂😂😂
Her performance was stellar too
Not sporting
@@KHobbies_cina they all were though, that’s the point. Doesn’t look great. She wasn’t clapping in any shot she was in, not even at the end.
Let’s face it, a marvel movie even being nominated for an acting category is an outside chance, she wasn’t exactly going to shine with voters was she.
She is classless.
Will Smith effect? No?
What a great speech. The end had me in tears
Met Jamie Lee in Bray, Wicklow, Ireland around 2003. Friendly, chatty & just down to Earth. I am sooo happy that happened!
I love the reaction of Stephanie Hsu, and of course her acepptance speech
She was so sweet about her parents. I've got teary eyes.
Wow, Angela Bassett's sour face is priceless.
Sour isn't the right word.
@L'Ephebe Yeah, Glenn's lost at least 6 times that I know of. I hope next time Glenn beats her. Glenn knows she doesn't need the Oscar to know she's wonderful.
Because her feelings were hurt ? Angela dominated award season out of five award shows she won three straight and when everyone is telling you you’re gonna win and you don’t your hurt she did eventually clap but she wasn’t required to put on a fake smile
@@marcusmelancon3426the Oscars always went by sag awards winners which Jamie won so everyone should've known. Angela dominated in the other big categories but the others three ladies dominated at the other awards. The other women had more awards and nominations than Jamie and Angela.
Angela Bassett literally had one epic scene where she says she lost everyone. That's fueled by emotion from losing Chadwick Boseman. The rest of the film her acting wasn't even nearly as spectacular. Jamie Lee Curtis had to play multiple characters where she was a suma wrestler, a lover, a friend and an accountant. You can't compare the two. If you say she was robbed you just looking at skin color tbh
@mikeytrahant943yeb slap on Angela Basset
Everything in Hollywood is just marketing. Reach your conclusions.
This was probably the most moving acceptance speech. She included everyone from her family to her fans. What a treasure!!!
Such a humble acceptance..good for her.
Fiquei muito feliz por ela!!!! Cresci assistindo todos os filmes em que ela esteve, mereceu muito!
Jamie deserved many more. She was always gracious about everyone else's wins over the years. She will always be my favourite actress , I loved her in all her movies. 💞💞
I must say that one of the best chain of Winners in Acting on this year. All 4 of them decent human beings with full of spirit and warm attitude! Hopefully this will inspire us younger folk to be like them!
That was one hell of a thank you speech!!!!!! Brought tears to my eyes at the very end.
So cool to finally see her get one thru her and the end of her speech was just so emotional thru it and sweet and I'm so glad she got it:)
Damn Angela didn’t even try to hide her feelings 😅
Why ?
@@lexkanyima2195 why what ? 😅
@@lexkanyima2195 SHE LOOKS DISAPPOINTED AND SAD
She was not happy lol so bitter

JLC scene was exceptional. She dominated that scene. Not only that, her contributions to the industry over 50 years deserves the Oscar. On top of that she is such a nice person.
Jamie Lee Curtis is so underrated. I love her and her movies! She's so funny and brilliant in every one of them. I can't forget True Lies and Freaky Friday. She should have won years ago. She deserved that Oscar.
And A Fish Called Wanda
I have watched this so many times. Love Jamie and glad she finally got recognised for her work! Everything about this was perfect. Love her speech perfect achknowledging her fans. Love that she says “we” until talking to her parents changing to “I” truely beautiful. And also Stephanie’s reaction! Everyone needs a friend like that
I watched this more than once, and I cry every single time. She is the nicest person.
At the time I thought it was undeserved but after seeing her performance in The Bear I realized that no actress in that category was more worthy of an Oscar than Jamie Lee.
I've been in awe of Jamie sinds 2003, 20 years allready, she is magnificant!
Jaime is an example of someone who came from a hollywood family but didn’t squander her gifts.
Amazing career, and shows it's never too late to bring out your best! Awesome moment for her!
There are many memorable moments from Oscars past.
This is one of my favorites. So real, gracious and well deserved.
Jamie Lee is a class act and her parents would be so proud.
i've LUVed her for decades , she is so cute and pretty and spunky
