  • Michael tries to light the Coleman Lantern LT 17B Hot Water Heater but is foiled by Black Widow. No not the movie - a real black widow reduced him to taking cold showers. We share the bloopers in the hopes you enjoy and to let you know it is real time filming and sometimes well - stuff doesn't go as planned.

Note to self. Put the drain plug back in when you take it out of winter storage. Our first trip this year in our 18RB, was at a park with full hook-ups, 2 hours from home. Hooked up the water to the city water connection, turned on the valve, went inside to purge the air out of the taps, and kept hearing water running....... An unplanned trip to a hardware store in a strange town to find a 1/2" plug, because I couldn't find the one I took out last fall. The 18RB has the exact same water heater. We keep the water temperature setting slightly below normal, as it makes the water almost too hot.

That’s a rough way to figure it out. We did something similar in a totally remote area.

What kind of lights do you have over the bunks?

We used a combination of battery operated fairy lights that the kids can turn on off and we also have a strip of LED color changing lights to light up the whole camper. We bought everything on Amazon.

Did you ever figure out why you could not light it?

Yes had a faulty part. No hot water the whole trip.

@@michaelharris1187 haha it’s terrible! We have not found an easier way. Have you joined the Facebook 17B/17R group? Someone there might know a better way. I think we have over 12,000 members now.

Could ask CamperWorld to install the 12v electric press button ‘start’ for the hot water heater. The button gets installed on the bottom side of the cupboard directly under the awning/tank control panel. We have the 2022 model

Yep that's what I got. Now I'm trying to convert my propane water heater tank to electric, just to have an all in one bill, with the camco conversion kit but there is no room to maneuver. All the videos I watched, everyone had easy access to their water heater from the inside. I'm really not trying to remove the refrigerator and cut a big square into the bottom just to get to the water heater to install the thermostat on the water heater. Smh! Guess I might just get that dual propane auto changeover regulator and call it a day.

Thank you for the video. Do you have to do this everyday you go camping? Also, when you leave the campsite do you need to turn it off and drain it?

No, we light it once and leave it lit while camping. When we leave camp, we pack it up and get it ready for the next trip so when we get him we just have to park it and take inside the bare minimum. We aim to keep it simple.

Hi, love the videos you posted. My wife and myself are looking to buy our first travel trailer and the Colman 17 BH is on the top of our list. It seems to be, at least pricewise, the best bang for your buck. I am curious, how do you like the air conditioning in this travel trailer? I am just curious if it gets the whole trailer cool enough inside.

Hi Rebel7 - yep we live in Phoenix and I can't think of anyplace hotter. It does take it a bit here in 110 to cool down but then maintains it nicely. We frequently leave it plugged in and work on the inside prior to a trip and it is a comfortable 74 inside. Loud, yes but unless you have a rooftop unit you will experience that from all of them. Happy to answer any questions at michaelandjen@wildlygraceful.com. We LOVE our 17B and just went on a long excursion north of Yosemite and she had no issues.
