Another thing. Our camper is seasonal and 4 years old bought it 2 years ago and I just cleaned a ton of mineral scale from our hot water tank. Luckily no rust but lots of mineral deposits. Need a new anode soon but fine for now. The thing is campers need to know scale builds up fast where there is hard water like the northeast so your tank really needs to be flushed every year or two it's not BS to get you to pay for maintenance you don't need. This is maintenance you do need. Another thing. I got all the scale out of our tank without a back flusher. You open the water supply to fill the tank and you stick your finger into the drain hole and break up the big pieces of scale and let it all drain out. You put your finger in again and again until you break up all the pieces like I did and let them all drain out. My tank is scale free and I did it without a back flusher.
Your video helped me the most to fix my camper's water heater. No cost! Our Suburban 6 gal automatic water heater began shutting off right after lighting. Bad control board. Finding the board was the hard part, stuck with tape to the top of the water heater behind the kitchen drawers. Q3 was burned out. MPSA29. NPN Darlington pair. Luckily I had some Motorola MPSA14's in my spare parts from 30 years ago and I made the swap. I put a heat sink on it for good measure as that's why it probably failed in the first place. Fingers crossed all is working.
Thanks, this cured my problem -- I suspected nothing more than a bad electrical connection and once I saw the control board in your video, I remembered seeing the same device... then remembered where it was, behind the door to the water heater valves, behind the left rear door (after dropping the outside-mounted spare tire) on our Sprinter-based 2015 Roadtrek SS Agile. Yep, a loose connection on the 4-wire flat connector -- our control board was not in any way secured, so it had shifted downward and (apparently) that flat connector had pulled loose a bit. All good now! (And yes, I'll secure that control board!) So thanks a bunch, a zero-dollar fix.
I just bought a 2021 keystone 262bh, had to blow out manufacturing debris, pull igniter out clean and reinstall to get it to work. My fault not checking it at the dealership. Just leaving this comment for anyone in need. My igniter would click and make one spark but, wouldn’t 🔥, after Emory cloth to the ends of the probes, problem solved. My dealership is 3 1/2 hrs away and I kinda had a thought of what it was.
Outstanding, I just got through working on. Mine had no idea about this board up underneath. Thank you for what you did to show us. What is going on and how to reinstall and check it out very straightforward. Thank you for that.
Thanks for explaining your issue. I’m having the same issue with my KZ trailer equipped with Sub water heater. It flames for a few minutes then goes out. The flame is not blue. It has a little yellow and orange.
Will the flame burn the tips of that sparker? Mine falls like almost centered of the gas tube. This was only after repairman moved it closer to the middle since it was not igniting at first
I wonder why your water heater is not gas and electric. Our Roos has both and Rockwood claims you get more hot water when both gas and hydro work together. I hope our heater does not give us any grief. So far it has worked well.
@@mastersergeant8672 sounds like there is either a short somewhere or the control board is definitely having an issue. If the heater works as expected you should be fine, but definitely keep an eye on the heater and maybe listen outside to hear it igniting and running properly to be sure.
I have the same issue but have absolutely no spark. I tested the lead wire to the ignitor and I don't have12v at the ignitor when I turn the water heater DSI switch on but I do have gas going into the burner. I'm betting its the circuit board just due to the fact I don't have 12v showing on the meter at the ignitor
I've got mine hooked up properly and I went over and redid it half a dozen times but it's got power to it but I can't hear it heating up the water is that normal for the first time it's Heating
If it is running on gas then no that is not normal. If you stand outside near the vent for the tank you should hear it running and getting hot. If you're running it on electric (not all heaters have electric options) then I'd imagine it would be quite quiet.
hi my hot water tank is gas and electric when on electric it works just fine but on gas i seem to have the same problem as u did i changed the igniter with a new one but this did not solve the problem should i look for this board your talking about ..... thanks
You will need to find the access panel/vent door on the outside of your trailer and then use that as a reference for where it will be inside the rig. There will usually be a wooden panel infront of it (held in by some screws). What model of trailer do you have?
This was really helpful, I believe this is the same issue I’m having with my brand new unit.
I hope it helps, and you get yours up and running again!

I had the same problem, swapped out the control board and fixed. 2018 Wildwood gas only water heater.

That was very helpful thank you for everything what you explain step-by-step a made Lord bless you I keep you safe and your family
Glad it was helpful!
Super helpful. Mine had same issues but the igniter terminal had just vibrated off. Tks!
Great video bro, was following right along with you. Short and sweet, and you’ve been my second opinion. Thank you, ordering the board! Peace
THANK YOU! this fixed my camper. Well done.
Very helpful! Thank you very much!!!
You're welcome!
Yeah I'm in the same boat. My truck camper water heater won't spark but it will heat water find on AC or with the generator running.

His is a model SW6D. Gas and Electric is model SW6DE.
I have the same water heater... my DSI Fault light is always on, but the water heater works fine. What do you think of that?

Soooooo. Does this mean the ignitor was not the issue making it necessary to buy the new brain?
That's correct. I bought the ignitor too as it was very cheap and easy to replace, and wanted to be certain everything was in working order.
Where is located that piece

Did you figure this out? I would recommend looking at replacing the control board if you haven't already.
I cant find the thw water heater tank is not under the sink any ideas

Apologize for that ceiling ..looks like crap.
Haha sure did. We've bought our own home since then, and it isn't falling apart like the rental was. You can thank the lowlife landlord we had haha
Why are you heating hot water? Or do you mean “water heater” not “hot water heater”??
You should have mentioned this is a Gas heater.
He did.
