Well produced video and you raise some great points. I especially like the comment about this price point being one that will enable you to better understand your future audio needs. When you buy something, it doesn't have to be a "forever purchase". I like to look at things more as an experiment and learning process...always a stepping stone to something better. Or perhaps you realize what you bought is in fact "all you need". You will learn something in both cases.
Those Pioneers sound horribly congested in nearly every demo video I've seen. Not sure how the Presonus could be rated lower for audio quality, unless you're factoring the idle "hiss".
There should be zero hum coming from the speakers. Example. I have had a pair of Behringer Truth powered monitors that I purchased new about 20 years ago. They are truly excellent for mixing because they are near zero embellishment. And they are dead quiet. I've had them on and didn't even realize they were on...and cranked up. I ordered some expensive Focals, thinking I was going to upgrade. It didn't take but a few second for me to realize the Truth. I reboxed the Focals and returned them immediately.
My respects @Jorge Powell ! In my country Romania the Kanto YU's are at the same price as the Adam T5V's and as the KRK Rokit 5 or Yamaha HS 5 (somewhere around 360-370 euros) so just go for the Adam T5V's or for KRK Rokit 5 and you're set !
Your video is perfect for me! I just bought the DJ DM-50D because they have balanced inputs, front-facing baseport, and fader on the front, and clean aesthetics. Do the DJ speakers make white noise when on? I want to buy them to see if they are silent. I have bought the Eris 4.5 BT Gen2 and the Eris 5 BT Gen2 and they both make an audible white noise when they are turned on (Blue LED on), even without an audio cable connected, and independent of the volume/gain fader! I'm glad you also noticed this issue on yours! I returned both, because I'm super sensitive to noises.
Great review! Love the clean, modern desk setup that allows you to display the things you love: photography and tech. That WANDRD PRVKE 21L pack on the wall is icing on the cake!
Presonus is good buy .. But for Studio house production not really because the low stops wit 80 khz .. i dont have a his or wierd sounds at all .. If you read the manual the you should use the volume for gain staging and if that is done then you never need the volume knob again.. You need a solid sound card like a focusrite or Alesis or something like that 👍 good speakers for sing and songwriter and light rock music. Also there is a subwoofer too for this set but i dindt test that because i dont need it 👍
Hi! I’m a student bedroom DJ of mainly drum and bass music. I’m looking for some budget bassy speakers that are enough to decently fill a room. I’ve been thinking the DMs, what do you think?
@@tomshuttleworth7343 I went with dm40d, the loudness is good, bass depends a lot on placement within the room. There's a lot of static noise coming off the speaker when turned on and it's only gotten worse since I've bought them. Good buy if you're going to be using it above 50% volume, not good for low volume scenarios like critical listening, mixing and mastering.
@@JorgePowell Ahh sorry mate didn't mean to pre-empt your upcoming! I have just swapped out a 43 back to a Landscape/Portrait pair of 32UN88's - I missed the flexibility and sheer amount of real estate vs a well 'just bigger' 4k scaled as 2560x1440 - as I said love your videos looking forward to more.
hello, im interessted in the kanto yu. they have an amp integrated right? can i connect this speaker to a sennheiser gsx 1200 amp? or does that not work amp to an amp?
They have a passive version that would be a better option for that I believe.. It actually comes in the 4” version too and is around the same price point as the Yu2 powered speaker
@@JorgePowell No problem! Happy to Help! What is your opinion on getting something cheaper than the LG 42 inch oled. The OLED is a bit out of my price range. Looking at the M7 Smart monitor in the 43 inch size instead.
Yeah.. the value just isn't there for me. I'm looking at Bluetooth capable speakers/monitors. If I went with the Presonus, I could get their 5.25" eris and an 8" BT subwoofer for $350. Or a set of 8" Mackie reference monitors with Bluetooth for $300. That come with multiple options for isolation pads, feet etc. Now, if you are extremely space limited and trying to fit the best product you can on a tiny desk... I could understand the decision to go with those more expensive speakers.
I have Edifier mr4 and Kanto yu. Edifier are more clear and the bass is way better and kanto yu have more power and you will need to adjust the eq from remote otherwise the sound is average
@@naormeningher the copper cables connect the main speaker to the secondary speaker - you don’t need an audio interface for these speakers so fairly easy to add to an existing setup
A video about speakers with no actual sound testing of the monitors.. 🤦 A very good presentation but not hearing the individual sounds made by each speaker is a huge let down for me.
No frequency response? That's got to be at least a start. I think the Klipsch 2.1 goes down to 40hz. The E whatever goes only to 80HZ. Don't you think you should research this stuff before you do a video on it? It took me 10 minutes to find info on the Pioneer and E whatever.
You were right, this audio monitors look great and better placed than the old ones. If you like bass KRK Rokit 6 are pretty good too. Nice setup man, like the wood and minimal vibes.
So if your only concern is sound and not looks or build... it's a toss-up? Well, you slightly prefer the Pioneers, but for the bluetooth version, you're slightly over budget. Bought my Presonus Eris 4.5 (BT) as an open box buy for 136 euros and have no complaints whatsoever. Buyers of the other two speakers can probably say the same. But if that's the case... why bother?
Hey, thanks for taking the time to write a comment - can you share what specs you felt were missing so I can keep this in mind for future videos? I'm not an audio engineer, so I wouldn't feel comfortable providing details on frequency response without being able to provide context as to why it's important for the average consumer, but I hope this video provides some value for those considering these options at least.

Nice, a bloke simply having 3 speakers and testing them rather that a digital voice over stock content pushing Amazon links.

Great comparison. I just got the Kanto’s so nice to see you’ve given them the thumbs up as well.
How do you like them? I am thinking about buying them aswell but ive read so many mixed reviews :D

Have you tried the edifier R1280DBs?

I have the 3.5s and can only hear this white noise when I put my ear on the tweeter (rca connection).
You can hear it like 2-3 feet away on the 4.5s?
What happened to your LG OLED TV?
This video is brilliant! Love the comparison

Would you recommend the Kanto over the razor nommo?
Yes, definitely! The Nommo are great for the price but the Kantos are way better in terms of sound quality 👌🏼
Very well put together video! Good job man.
now my speakers all of them make a slight hum on all devices?

not mentioning frequency ratio nor talking about real specs on a monitor comparison. this guy clearly doesn't have a clue of what he's talking about.
