HS3 sound way better. I’m using mine with some HS8s and a sub. The HS3s have a more “transparent” sound to me. Whatever works for you in the end. A friend of mine doesn’t like my Yamaha setup yet he does great work with cheap KRKs. Right tool for the right person for the right job. I used to mix only on NS-10s. Now with the new Yamaha monitors I have less ear fatigue.

The correct answer is HS4 for small, portable. HS7 with sub for home studio. HS3 lacks so much and isn't physically smaller or lighter enough to justify existing. HS8 are liked and popular because they have fuller bass but you can get that from a subwoofer and the HS7 has better critical mids.

It depends on the usage. This model of Presonus is a very good cheaper option for movie and music listening and even for very amateur home studio mixing/recording. BUT Yamaha is a more expensive and better choice for home studio.

Where the magic happens is when you connect the Eris monitors to a Presonus interface. That's when you hear the clarity....they're made for each other. That's how I have mine and it makes a huge difference. Presonus iTwo, $90 plus the Eris $90, that's $180 for great clarity!

If you have the budget, just go for the HS5, or even HS8. The HS3 are double the price of the Presonus e 3.5, but they're not doubling in quality. I have the Presonus e 3.5 first gen, and the Yamaha HS8. They are worth the price. The HS3 could have been cheaper to justify the price 👍. Thank you for the video ❤

I love yall to death but I don’t see 10 less hz as a reason for $220 more. I use the Erisnfor mixing right now and they are good for two reasons.
    1. If your mix only sounds good on $2000 speakers, when Johnny plays it through Bluetooth at the pool and it sounds like death metal instead of indie alternative, you’ll get it.
    2. The Eris is a fender brand. I don’t like fender guitars, but I do love that they make their quality products accessible to people like us, musicians, looking for the ability to put this in a mix. $150 for BT is a steal.

I own both the Eris 5 and the Eris 8's and I had the 3.5's prior to the 5's I find them to be good for general audio listening purposes, but lack alot of clarity and detail if you are someone who is trying to mix on them. The Yamaha HS3 for sure would be my pick as well if I needed a small set of reference monitors for music production, as even though they lack the low end you get so much better range and color from the drivers.

I just bought a pair of Eris 3.5's and I have a question since this is my very first pair of studio monitors ever since I started making music. The monitors turn to distort/clip when I have my volume cranked up both on my pc and the studio monitors themselves. I expected them to handle the loud volume from what I have seen and heard but this has been my experience after testing them. So I just wanted to find out if it is normal because I have been thinking that something is wrong. I use an Aux to RCA cable by the way to connect them and I use a MacBook Pro late 2011 of which I noticed that MacBooks have more gain/volume than other laptops.

I bought two different pairs of monitor speakers. One is the PreSonus Eris 3.5 as live monitors for my mobile DJ set and a couple of Swissonic A308 for music production. On the one hand, the Eris are perfect for my intended use, as something can always break with mobile things, and on the other hand, the A308 are great studio monitors, as the bandwidth from 38 Hz to 20 kHz ideally covers the entire audible range.

The Presonus (even if considering the youtube 'cuts') seem to appear slightly 'fuller' of low frequencies, or in any case colored.. the Yamaha seem a bit harder, or 'if we want', more neutral in perfect Yanaha style.
