I currently have a pair of Behringer MS20s that I've had since 2008 that I use to DJ with, and been meaning to check these pioneer monitors out to replace them. Seems like these would be good to maybe travel with as well when producing on a laptop in the hotel room. Might end up getting these, thanks for the review!
Hi, a friend recommended these as he has a full digital Pioneer dj setup. I'm thinking of using these with Technics, my mixer is the DJM 800. Still a good option for a bedroom/streaming dj or would you recommend something else? Love the channel, by the way
Can I ask, what do you think the point of playing speakers in a review is, when that audio has to come into our microphones, get recorded/digitised/compressed, then go through a whole load more processing at your end, then play back through YOUR speakers? What would you gain from listening to that? Genuinely interested. Our view is: Nothing. That's why we never play speakers in reviews.
@@digitaldjtips "People say that I'm dreamer, but I'm not the only one." 👇👇👇Others seam to also want one. There are ways using meters to absolutely give a good reference for sound. And you can get a general idea of warmth, instrument separation, and how the highs hit even through a recording. And if using the same recording equipment, sound track, and set up for all you could even compare with other speakers you review. That is absolutely more work and investment though. So not shocked your over it. t's nice for people who don't live near a shop where they can review it in person. I think the closest pair I can find is multiple counties and hours on the road away. I wish I could buy local. Feel I could have got allot of this from reading pioneer's own description. And though it's nice to hear you say it in my view there is still value added from an audio sample. And I am clearly not alone in that opinion. But opinions alone don't make things right. So "you do you Boo Boo". This critique is not going to stop me from watching your reviews so I guess you win anyway.
Dm40d or the iloud or the krk goaux3 ? Wanna go for verry small. I already have big sound system. Now looking for the smallest active monitors any advice ??? Thanks
I have the dm-40bt and found there was no crossover just a single amp. I tried modifying with a crossover but found the unspecified wattage tweeter sounded terrible and wasn’t loud enough to be audible.
@@digitaldjtips but the market is absolutely full of budget monitors that have 1/4 inputs. So maybe you should expand your reviews on different speaker brands for around the same price.
Hey there I have a quick question are these speakers compatible with a Numark MT3 Dj Controller? I just bought them but I noticed my controller doesn’t have a input for the red/white cord
small correction here. It's a 4'' woofer and not a 5'' one. DJ/Producer mode smells like DSP "magic" that will do only one thing. boost the "bass" in the DJ mode. They honestly want to hide that a 4'' woofer cannot go below around 50hz. Also would be nice to have a datasheet for the frequency response like you get from every other monitor speaker brand. I honestly cannot find one (even on the official pioneer page). Things that stand out negatively here: - no balanced inputs. I may be nitpicking here but I really had ground loop in my studio and nothing but balanced cables helped. If it affects you these will be unuseable. - mini jack??? wth is this? a jbl boombox? - the price. This is honestly not worth the money. For a 100€ you can get comparable speaker packages (presonus eris, mackie CR-4x, etc.). Maybe for 120€ because better quality. - Why put the volume dial on the front but not the power switch? This is minor complaint because most studio speakers have everything on the back which is really annoying.
any help guys? I have my controller connected to my laptop and music only comes through the headphones. I bought these speakers as part of a package. the speakers turn on but there's no sound
Just bought them and i was trying to connect the class 2 wiring and the plastic adapter slipped off my hands and i can't find it. Is there a way how i can fix? The wires are out😢
Hi mate! I’m between buying dm40d I played with them before. Practicing etc are great and good base but I tried to play in my living room with around 30 people around and they couldn’t produce a lot of sound. Had to connect my sound bar to get the party going. This time around I’m thinking of buying the JBL party box 120 , portable and generally much more base and volume output reckon I would have an issue connectivity wise with pioneer flx4 ?
Make sure your audio output in your settings is set to your laptop speaker and input your flx4, and the master and track are up. Also make sure your amps are on and turned up. That resolved the issue when I had it.
Did you mention how they sounded? I think I missed that bit.

This is super helpful! Best review i’ve seen yet
Glad you found it helpful Charlene.
I was waiting for you to play them… thanks for the review nonetheless.

@@digitaldjtips speakers meant to play .. so may be that's a point
It's a good thing they skipped a sound test. Cuz who wants that. "but it wouldn't sound the same as it would in person". Yupp, and we still want it.
Waste of time in our view

I'd go for the KRKs if that is your criteria.
This is super nice
Can you link these to PC same time as a controller?
I have the dm-40bt and found there was no crossover just a single amp. I tried modifying with a crossover but found the unspecified wattage tweeter sounded terrible and wasn’t loud enough to be audible.
I can’t understand the logic of having a ‘producer’ switch, but not having 1/4” inputs.
Well, they are beginner/entry level speakers.

Thanks for sharing, and thanks for the correction. Smaller speakers do indeed needs DSPs, I agree.

Is there much difference sound wise from the 5 inch over the 4 inch?
It's basically a bit louder with better bass.

Good evening. Is this compatible with the pioneer ddj-200??
Probably have to plug it to the laptop
Hi,
When I turn off the speaker, a big "poc" occurs. It is different and louder than the usual capacitor noise. Is this normal?
