    Phew! Another 20 minute whopper. But this time, I rank these 10 in order, with a few gold stars give out for the cream of the crop. This style of watch is popular for a reason, they are great all rounders and don't break the bank. There are literally hundreds to choose from, but a few really stand out from the rest. Cheers, Jody

    I've had an Invicta pro diver for over 10 years and still enjoy it. I'm not out to impress anyone, I like the look, and it still tells time accurately. I watched this video out of curiosity, and I honestly don't see any reason to go out and spend more money; on the other hand, I'm not knocking anyone who has the money and wants to go high end. Whatever makes each person happy is the big thing.

      Because the invicta is more expensive than it was 10 years ago, so might as well get another one with sapphire and ceramic and a better bracelet.

      INVICTA Pro Diver all the way!! Mine with the NH35A movement is running 3.5 seconds slow per day after some patient adjustment. Impressive. I just got it a few days ago. Cost me €120.00 including shipping to Europe. I'm very happy with it.

    You're bang on about the San Martin, for mine I spent 1 hour buffing out the sharp edges of the bezel with green compound for stainless steel, and went over the case edges at the lugs and clasp with a file. The Loreo will die due to movement failure at 10 months or less, as the makers said to me - and I quote " you got enough use of the watch, no warranty"

    I'm surprised the Steeldive didn't make the list yet the Pagani and the Guanqin did. The only weak point on the Steeldive is the bracelet. It's by far the best Sub homage at $100 or lower. Not to mention its lume is leagues better than anything else below $100.

      I have a bit of a tree trunk of a wrist, ~8“ so the 39mm is ᴘᴇʀғᴇᴄᴛ for me, would understand why someone with smaller wrists would like the smaller diameter - it's all dial so (as you know!) wears big.
      I don't mind the male end-link personally - but the way the bracelet is attached to the end-link is messy; I get what you're saying. A mate of mine with a 7" wrist has the same complaints!

      Sucks that other bracelets won't fit though if the the OEM one really bothers you.
      I wear my Alpinist on a jubliee and it's easy to find other bracelets that will fit it. Explorers look great on Jubilees too.

    I will say that Pagani Design seem to improve on their QC issues continuously: The PD1661 I bought for a friend two months ago has San Martin level of bezel action (literally no backplay whatsoever) and the fold over clasp is much easier to operate than on my slightly older PD1662 GMT-Master homage.

    The sharp edges and generic clasp are my only marks against the San Martin. I like how short the end links are. And honestly, I found my Tisell Marine Diver a bit disappointing in comparison. The end links protruded a bit too much, and the bezel was hard to grip at times. That said, I'd get the Cronos if they upgrade to a true glide lock mechanism and shorten their end links.

      @anthonyfmoss 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You still can. Plenty of them left on Ali Express. I’m not sure that Jody is even right about it being a 3rd iteration. It’s GIV branded, not Guanqin. He said the branding was different. The 8500 is not there, nor cheronometer, but I’m not convinced it’s the same family.
      Edit - since the rel of the video, he has changed the link. The cheronometer rules! He must have been in errror.

      GIV is a more of downgrade since it uses a non branded generic flimsy bracelet. Get a real Guanqin, it is worth it.

    Reviews you did, Watch Yoda 😉 From those previous reviews I now have a number #9, #2 and #1. Hard to split the Cronos and Tisell for value for money. Both are very nicely manufactured but the SW200 in the Cronos just edges out the Tisell. I'm sure viewers would be extremely happy with either.👍

    If I had to get a Sub homage, I'd get a Steinhart. I've had two and they were well-made watches for the price.
    They have a mixed reputation among watch fans because of their homages, but they're good value and you get a decent Swiss movement inside it.

    • @CheukNamSiu
      @CheukNamSiu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agreed, and they have actual customer service, swiss made certifications and a somehow more original design. Tho buyers beware the caseback is slightly too bulky, and the finishing of the watch head is akin to squale, but seems to be off the standard of the chronos

    • @Antoto96
      @Antoto96 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also love that they have both a 42mm and a 39mm size for those who want a bigger or smaller sub. In addition it tends to also be thinner than most homages due to the ETA/Sallita movement being thinner than the NH36 and Miyota movements that most homages use.

    • @1SaG
      @1SaG 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I've owned 7 Steinies all in all and am currently down to 5 (4x 39mm O1s plus the Paul Newman Panda homage). And I couldn't agree more. Can't compare it to the Cronos (never held one), but I find Steinhart's finish and build quality excellent.
      Plus it's Swiss Made (FWIW), very well regulated (all of mine run close to or within COSC) and the customer service is indeed pretty excellent.
      One word of advice for those with average to small-ish wrists: The 39mm variants look and wear way better (IMO) - especially the vintage models.

    • @mathieut3197
      @mathieut3197 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. Myself not a fan of hommages, but Steinharts are great watches on their own for sheer bang for the buck. Sellitas élaborés in a sub 1k swiss watch is nice in any case, and their 39s are wonderfully wearable.

    Hi Jody, your link to the revised cheronometer is to a “GIV” branded watch. Is this the 3rd iteration of the wonderful aforementioned watch after all? I see in Ali Express, the original watch from 8500 years ago is still available. Do you have inside info that Guanqin have switched to GIV for some reason?

  • @peterrenaud9742

    The Cronos SW200 is C$ 438.46. Jomashop has the Swiss Made MATHEY-TISSOT Automatic Black Dial Men's Watch H9010ATN for C$ 360.01. The movement is reported an STP 1-11 which is a clone like the Sw200 of the ETA 2824-2.

    Invicta is the best looking one in my opinion. Invicta wings on seconds hand and applied logo on the beautiful glossy dial makes the watch for me. It looks good even under the macro lens. And option with scalp bezel looks better then coin edge because scalp one is wider and does not look like a straight up Rolex copy. Love my Invicta. I wear PD1661 mostly because of its robustness (sapphire + ceramic), but Invicta is always on the display under my monitor :)

    Awesome roundup as always Jody.
    I have one of those first gen 43mm Pagani Sub homages. I wish it was 40mm but otherwise it’s a really solid watch for the money.
    If I was looking to upgrade to a nicer Sub homage I’d go with Tisell based on my experience with their Explorer homage which has the same bracelet as their Sub homage. The glide lock style clasp comes in so handy.

I like bigger dial watches like 43 mm and 44 mm otherwise I would have got a San Martin or Cronos. Do u know know any better quality HULK Submarine homage brands who has a 43 or 44mm dial ? Please lemme know. Thank you 😊

      @@AshakJoice Hi! I don’t personally know of any 43 or 44mm Submariner homages other than the Pagani. Most brands seem to stick to 39, 40 and 41mm. The Pagani is a great watch for the money. Being picky mine has got some sharp edges on the clasp and the handset is slightly too short (it looks like they were for a 40mm diameter watch) but mine is an old model so they may have changed it. It’s got a Seiko Nh35 in it so a solid and reliable movement. For the money I’m more than happy with my Pagani 👍

    I got the PT5000 Cronos (black on blue) after watching one of your videos, and the watch was so good I went and ordered the SW200 ( proper blue on black) version as well!!! You're right, they're off-the-charts fantastic. The PT5000 is a daily wearer for me and it's amazing. While I have more one or two more expensive watches than these, none are better overall. I had no doubt the SW200 would be #1.

    I have a Invicta pro diver that was a gift. the stem is broken and it seems impossible to find out what size the replacement stem should be. The problem is the stem itself if broken so I dont know how long it needs to be. I watched plenty of videos on youtube to learn how to take apart and remove, but cannot find ANYWHERE what the stem size would be for a invicta model # 23671. Any help on finding a correct size would be truly appreciated!!
