    Great bit of info,This will help lots with the stick centre problem. I was wondering how to sort this out.
    Thank you for doing the video.

    nice man. I had some problems with my potmeter, so I fixed that. but then it was of center like you had.
    now everything is alright again
    thank you!

    Right.. so you had a linear throttle curve set when calibrating in this vid? Just wondering. Mine looked the same (off center high) with non-linear curve set, but perfect with linear curve. It did help my rudder center instability though, which is why I had to do it in the first place.

    @bwxmoto 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    1st thx for vid. 2nd, my DX6i looks exactly like yours- throttle a little up at the beginning of procedure and at the end. It is not because there's something wrong, it is because it is showing where your throttle is in relation to your throttle curve you set. I have one of my profiles set up for mcpx2, and the stock throttle curve from manual. At center stick it is up a little. When I switch to my linear 120SR profile, the throttle is directly in the center on monitor like it should be.

    Thanks for this video. Great presentation and information. I wish I knew this a few years ago, my DX6i had very poor calibration on all axes and I just gave up on it and bought a DX8 (which you can calibrate from normal menus) I'll dig out my DX6i and use it for the foamies now.

    thanks I had to do the opposite with the throttle cut , My Airlon is most likely no good, thought I give this a try. time to open up and see if swapping parts will fix.

  • @bwxmoto
    @bwxmoto 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did the calibration when I turned Tx off when it was in the mcpx2 profile, if I did the calibration after I was in the 120SR profile (linear throttle curve), it would have shown on the monitor exactly center throttle when stick was in the center. Try that, or make a profile with linear throttle curve to try. Nothing wrong w/ your DX6i I don't think.. I did have a sketchy rudder center though, and this might fix it,I haven't tested it yet but it looks good in monitor.

  • @Huffheinz
    @Huffheinz  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good point. You should definitely set a linear throttle curve before doing this procedure. Having a throttle curve with the middle point off of 50% will definitely make the spot look off in the monitor at the end of the procedure.
    I'm not sure why you were getting error messages when you tried to comment to this video. Please rest assured that I did not block you. I think the discussion could be beneficial to someone trying to troubleshoot their DX6i.

  • @bwxmoto
    @bwxmoto 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    No worries, it was a youtube issue. Yesterday a bunch of vids weren't working, then they did an hour later, today my comments are showing up with a big error message after I type them, but then go up delayed. I deleted the two other duplicates. Yeah so it is a good thing to know to set a linear throttle curve or at least know that if you don't the calibration will still work, but it may look "wrong" on the monitor.
    I cannot believe they didn't put this procedure in the manual though!

  • @bwxmoto
    @bwxmoto 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was getting error messages when trying to comment, then a triple post happened. Anyway, if you do this calibration, and the last profile you had on the screen has a non-linear throttle curve, then the throttle monitor at the end of this procedure will be off exactly like yours in the vid. Mine looked the same was as the vid- throttle showed identical position. I had default mcpx curve set. It still worked fine though, the throttle monitor is perfect in a different profile with linear curve.

    How can I set an accessory switch? when I sart the transmitter wizard, it does not recognize any of the accesory sticks, it does recognize the gear channel but I already use that for my attitude/rate mode. Could you tell me how to set/setup an assecory stick on my Dx6I?

  • @philliprporter
    @philliprporter 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    NOTE: this will work if you choose a 'un set-up' model on tour tx
    if you use a model that you've changed tho curve and duel rates it will show on the tx

    • @Dangrousdave20
      @Dangrousdave20 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine would not zero out for the life of me. Then I remembered changing the rates and realized that's what was being reflected in the monitor menu. Thx for the reminder ;-)

    would doing this cause issues with the programming of a cp heli?

  • @Huffheinz
    @Huffheinz  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I assure you, my throttle stick was out of calibration. Setting a linear throttle curve was the first thing I did. I should have mentioned that a linear throttle curve should be set when determining the need for stick calibration.
    However, this calibration procedure is completely independent of model selection and throttle curves because it uses the raw inputs from the sticks. While stick calibration may not always be necessary, it will never hurt to re-calibrate the sticks.

    Followed instructions to a "tee". Works fine except for the ELEV channel which stubbornly will not center even after repeated attempts. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

      Got it! When I reset my DX6i (which I did repeatedly) the swash type setting defaults to 90 degree swash type. Making sure it was set to 120 degreee swash type solved my puzzle for me.

    Thanks I noticed while setting up my new Blade Nano QX that the Aileron was offset on the monitor screen and I was having to hold in rht aileron to counter that I believe.... aileron now shows as centered ok next recharge the Nano batteries and try flying again....Rgds...Laurie

  • @Huffheinz
    @Huffheinz  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    If your stick shows off center on the monitor when you have a linear throttle curve set, then your sticks need calibrating and you would need to follow the stick calibration procedure outlined in this video.

    I know this is like old news probably... But anybody searching these videos.. learning how to calibrate their sticks... I should mention when you do this all your pitch and throttle curves... Travel adjust... End points ect should be at default settings... Otherwise on your monitor screen.. the arrows will be off from where they're supposed to be

    Good video, but I think something is missing: this was not working for me until I went into sub-trim (in the Adjust List) and set everything to 0 before doing the calibration (also don't forget to set a linear throttle curve). If you don't the final calibration will be off.

      Hi. Dont know if you wil read this... but i also got a problem with the reset/calibration.
      i went to subtrim and everything is is set to 0.
      The calibration still didnt work for me. Are there any other solutions ?
      Any help is mutch appreciated :)

    • @smoothment
      @smoothment 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without knowing your problem there's not much I can say. The best general advice I can give is read your manual thoroughly and understand every setting in your transmitter. This may sound tedious and boring because you just want to fly your RC aircraft, right? I was like that anyway, but to be confident with your transmitter you really need to know how it works. It's time well spent. Spinning up a heli for the first time can be intimidating but just take it easy, be safe, use training gear, and give yourself plenty of space!

  • @chriscollins9492

    If your end points are NOT off wouldn't it be a sub trim, travel adj, throttle curve, or mix, ect. problem/issue that is making your center off? Or am I missing something here? I have had my END points off a little in the past which needed calibration, but if I ever had center off it was always something I did during setup. Not saying it isn't a problem that can be fixed by calibrating. However being in the hobby since I was 15 " now 29" I never had a problem like yours...? I hope it worked out for you! As I am sure you know recalibrating your sticks without having a new "reset" model can/will mess up any future programming on every model you program in said TX. After calibration I would recommend re-binding every model in the TX as any mixes/settings you have fine tuned on any model prior to calibrating could be off a little or ALOT causing problems. Happy Flying!!!

    • @chriscollins9492
      @chriscollins9492 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think you have a problem in the video he doesn't explain to erase every model in the TX and make sure BEFORE calibration you reset every model even after you erase them all. And NEVER calibrate a TX if you have made any changes to a model after being reset. When in doubt call or send the TX to Horizon Hobby if it is there product of course. Hope this might help a little!

      ResidentOfEvil 34 This was not working for me until I went into sub-trim (in the Adjust List) and set everything to 0 before doing the calibration (also don't forget to set a linear throttle curve). If you don't the final calibration will be off. I am fairly new to this hobby (heli's) but I don't think you should need to erase any models since you are just re-calibrating the sticks; probably not anything wrong with your tx.
