I feel like the way each girl died will relate to the kind of torture they endured in Project Libitina. Strangulation for Sayori, starvation for Natsuki, and stabbing for Yuri.

@@Brand_Fish Now that I think about it, Natsuki didn't die from starvation. She died from her neck snapping, but her father did not feed her enough.
Theoretically you could combine both options by having them starve her to the point where they could easily snap her bones

My thought: this new game is going to be a reverse of DDLC thematically. DDLC was something that looked and seemed upbeat and fun, then took a turn for the horrifying. This new game is going to be a horror show that is invaded by DDLC's Monika (either jumping over from her VM or from the outside via Ive as Mat theorizes here), and turns into a story of how she manages to ACTUALLY wrest a happy ending from this nightmare, not by selfishly changing things for her own benefit but by intervening on behave of the alternate versions of her friends.
Given Salvato's love for deconstructing familiar themes and mechanics on a level that surpasses a quick meta reference here or a gimmicky 4th wall breaking (DDLC is in a very different category than something like, say, IMSCARED or Pony Island), I could very well see Libertina/DDLC2 being exactly what you said

I think its interesting to note that if Monika is a nurse and not a patient or experiment, and the other 3 are it also loops back to the statement of physical appearances being different than normal humans. Monika has brown hair and green eyes, while the other three have unnatural hair and eye colors possibly caused by them being experiments and Monika being a nurse.
Sayori has blue eyes (which are natural and even more occurring than Monika's green eyes) and her hair is somewhat (well I don't know how much) natural.

Did you notice how every single character in the game has their hair covering their foreheads where a third eye would be? I'm guessing the twist is they've all had three literal eyes the entire time.

It's amazing the lengths the Project Libitina characters are going to to ascend to a higher plane, meanwhile Monika did it without even trying.
She's obviously way smarter than these brainless believers. Those people are sacrificing lots of lives whereas Monika just needed one Ive laster.

Although before i watched these videos, i really thought monika is in Paula (the project manager) and not in Ive because of the "with everlasting love" part in monika's final message and in 14.txt

If Monika could communicate with Team Salvato- which are considered to be gods by the cult, that would make her identical to the proposed "perfect being" that the cult is trying to make.

It’s not a joke I bet
You know the third eye granting violent tendencies sound like it's a metaphor for the experiments being conducted by the team rathen than a literal interpretation. They grant awareness of higher knowledge and that causes the character (in this case Monika) to have an existential crisis and become violent toward her fellow classmates. Metaphorically speaking as she never harms them directly but also is willing to sabotage and destroy their files because she sees them as expendable.
Wow this makes so much sense that they are prone to violence cause they think nothing is real
Monika was a simulation test of what happens with the full knowledge of the world you’re in, from what I gather she is in the simulation what this project is trying to create in reality. She not only is aware she’s in a game but can use that awareness to manipulate it and talk to us, even if we can’t respond.
Monika was forced to delete her friends, because of her attempt to gather the attention of the player, she created the MC but his presence also garnered the attention of the other girls. Not only that but her simulation didn't allow her to interact dorectly with him. Forcing her to become the only option.
So let me get this right, Paula and Ive are in our world, and they created DDLC and PL. The characters in PL are becoming sentient and are trying to figure out how to "accend" to our world. Monika in DDLC has done this by "accident" and "escaped" the simulation. Are the makers of PL trying to mirror real humans to see if "they" can awaken by themselves? And if so, I dont understand how Monika is connected to PL, they seem to be two separate entities completely and idk how Monika can identify the characters in PL as her friends in DDLC???

After all this, I can only imagine some people of Team Salvato being like "hey our next game will be so epic, with so much to connect back to DDLC, and so much hidden lor- wait, how people already know almost everything?"

It's a little late, but there is a line where you say to Yuri that the main character of the book reminds you of her, and she gets all flustered and goes what I don't think I am anything like her. But her reaction seems to hint in that direction that she is the girl in the book.
I think it was addressed in the original theory for ddlc.

I was thinking of the same thing. And when the player character says it's because she's always questioning herself, Yuri says she thought it was because of something else, farther in the story (likely something like self-harm).

I had a thought, remember the poem Yuri wrote in the 2nd playthrough? The one titled "Wheel"? It might be a stretch but I think there might have been elements in it hinting at this truth;
"A rotating wheel" = Machine?
"A portal to another world" = The bridge between the Virtual Machines or the VMs and our world
"Expanding universe", "Time controlled by slipping cogwheels" = The VMs being simulations
"Existence of God", "A prayer written in blood" = Religious imagery
"A thread connecting all human eyes" = Third eyes!
"God disproving the existence of God" = the research team trying to prove that they themselves live in a simulated reality

I think that the girls' (Sayori, Yuri and Natsuki) more negative sides of their personalities stem from their experiences within VM 2, or Project Libitina. I wonder if this new game would show how Sayori's depression, Yuri's obsession and self harm. and Natsuki's abusive guardian and neglect (him not feeding her) became such large parts of their personalities.

I mean it can make sense, natsukis experiment is not being properly fed, sayoris is probably isolation which is leaving her depressed due to lack of interactions probably sees her self not deserving of others because she hasn't been allowed to see other, while yuri could be one of their more successful test subjects since she likes the self harm and was one of the characters with the most connections to project libitina to the point she's heavily interested in the book based on libitina

@@--.._ I wonder if the killing machine bit isn't actually an intentional feature of the project, but rather a side-effect of realizing you live inside a simulation and therefore none of the people (nor their deaths) are "real"? It's maybe just a psychological reaction that happens to everyone who realizes it. So I agree, I feel like Yuri was a successful experiment, and that's also why she has the book in VM1 - her remnant of being closest to Monika's level of access (but without developer intervention).

Last time I was on their official site (maybe 1 or 2 years ago) , Salvato actually said that, from all the people who work on ddlc, only one remain, I don't know if he was talking about himself or if there was another person with him, but this (and probably Covid) didn't help finish the game in time. I do hope a new game is coming soon, I really can't wait to see what type of game they did for the whole libitina story

A theory based purely off observation: I believe Yuri is at least loosely aware of all of this in the second act of base game. Think of how aware she is that she’s acting differently than normal, whereas Sayori, who’s feelings were also altered by monika, didn’t seem to note her depression had gotten worse than normal. Before Yuri confesses her love and subsequently stabs herself, Yuri says something like “I don’t even care if monika’s watching!” which can easily be dismissed as Yuri showing she doesn’t care about monika’s jealousy, but also very possibly signify her awareness of the situation (we know how much DDLC subtly foreshadows). When you mention she reminds you of the character in Portrait of Markov, she isn’t distressed or put off( because she isn’t aware it’s her), whereas she instantly panics in the second act.
And one of the freakiest parts of the game- when her eyes become human instead of animated, tying in to the “opening of a third eye” theme.
Yuri as Libitina might be the individual in TEST VM that ultimately develops the strongest Third Eye.
So, unlike Monika, who was just forcefully granted complete awareness and admin access, Yuri and Libitina's AI have a specific combination of parameters that makes it easier for them to naturally escape the virtual machine sandbox all on their own. Probably connected to her tendency towards less common words and complex use of language. Chaining events in unusual ways is how most game glitches are discovered. And by studying how she does it, the engineers hope that it'll help them glitch their way out of their simulated world, too.
Maybe the third eye is the higher level permissions that Monika has, since having a 3rd eye usually means some higher level of intelligence or fortune telling. In order to get a 3rd eye, you might need to have a variant in another simulation, like Monika does. This would make Yuri, Sayori, and Natsuki all test subjects with high 3rd eye potential. Just a small thought I had.
yooooo this actually makes a lot of sense seeing as that a lot of the “religion” that the people have in VM2 is based off real world stuff like their god being the game devs and the psychic power being some connection to the devs or some way to contact them.

this would also make sense with the "dissolving into violence" angle, as Monica turned to violence in DDLC, maybe the others who unlock this third eye/higher access are doing so for similar reasons
Makes sense as to why Natsuki says she is beaten by her father, why Sayori (even though being a joy of life) has a deep depression, and why Yuri is obsessed with self harm and blood.

Kinda feels like they were talking about the amputees as a sort of "cattle". The limbs are amputated to stop the subjects from resisting in any way, and to more easily selectively breed the subjects. Doubt they amputate JUST for the limbs.

I wonder if the Girls sad backstorys are based on how they are on the outside going through the excitements. Yuri could cut herself or has started liking and pain and can’t socialize. Natsuki has a older adult who physically abuses her alot and her form of torture is being starved. Sayori could be suicidal from all the expirements.

Maybe the “genius” with no third eye who’s advancing Libitina’s work isn’t Renier and is in fact Ive Laster? That’s if Monika definitely has changed places with him. It would make sense for him to have no third eye and to be considered a genius as he’ll have insight that no one else in VM2 could possibly have. Just a mini theory!
If Monika really has switched places with Ive, he would only be at the literature club. Cause Monika only has access to VM1. She’s slowly gaining access to VM2, but she doesn’t have a stable connection.
@@ariaofthe6strings230 That being said though, Ive would have elevated access just as Monika did, possibly even higher, since he worked on the simulation, not just knowing about it. If this is the case, it's possible he made his way into VM2.
It's also worth noting since both VM1 and 2 would be run on the same computer, they wouldn't be completely separate (as we see with Monika).
One reason why Ive could go into VM2 rather than staying in 1 could be because they mentioned before that they were no longer looking at VM1. If he tried asking for help there, no one would hear him. So, he goes into VM2 with his knowledge, and uses it to accellerate the connection experiments, so he can get the attention of the other employees.

I believe also it's Ive. He never had anything to do with Project Libitina. He never has opened his third eye according to them. Monika could've transferred herself as Ive into VM2. If she just transferred herself it would look pretty suspicious due to Marla being a nurse there. Also Ive would be technically dead due to nothing controlling the brain. Monika has seen everything that has been happening in VM2, so she knows basically everything that is happening in Project Libitina. Monika has all the information to "help" this cult. She made Ive join Project Libitina to gain their trust. They gave basically Monika the guardian role for Project Libitina when in fact she is guarding the girls.

@@bobble68 I don’t think Ive would have had Kernel Access like Monika has simply because Monika YEETED him into VM1 or 2. It’s BECAUSE he doesn’t have kernel access that he can’t manipulate the reality of either VM. While the possibility of it being Ive is there, VM1 is a seperate entity. Even if it’s on the same computer, any administrator on a virtual machine cannot alter the files of other, NOT connected file to the virtual machine that said administrator has access to. It’s why if you ran a virtual machine of windows vista on your windows 10 device, your windows vista virtual machine can’t alter your windows 10 files. Unless deliberate, meticulous outside work was done in terms of coding and the changing of disk image partitioning would allow such a thing to be possible. It’s why in the emails, a member of the Metaverse team said she had an idea to establish a more stable connection to VM2 due to VM1 taking loose data.
The worst part about Project Libitina is that despite all the horrible things they’re doing. Despite the horrible atrocities they’ve committed. They’re right. They’re 100% correct in what they’re doing, and their methods are working.
And it it is absolutely horrifying

I am not sure if this has any bearing on the theory, but if you look at Monica’s attempts to block out the characters in the first game, the portions of the characters removed are pixelated body parts. Could these glitched out body parts have something to do with the body being created in Project Libitina?

I like this idea a lot actually - and it's kind of an unsettling idea if you consider that whatever illustration or 3D-model they see is photorealism to them already, so how the hell do they even perceive that higher level of "realism"? What the hell would the equivalent look like to us? Imagine seeing a person irl whose eyes are somehow even MORE hyper-defined than what you already thought was material reality. What an upsetting idea, I love it.
This is also an idea from a story telling perspective, but I think it could have some merit.
Monika could have been Elyssa. Elyssa being one of the original patients makes me believe that she could've had some influence over the formation of The Academy itself and not just her being a believer. Imagine if Monika, the VM2 version being unaware of the repercussions of her actions, tries to get everyone to understand they're in a simulation. Once she's able to prove it, they begin to form a cult dedicated to figuring out how to ascend. They have no issue with harming their (or other's) 'physical' bodies because they're NOT physical. They're not real.
Eventually Monika begins to realize that she went too deep, that even though it's a simulation it's still real to them. She begins to see the consequences of her actions and makes an effort to stop The Academy, leading to her (Elyssa) being terminated. I wouldn't say it's a stretch to imagine 'ghosts' being possible in this game, due to them saying how data wasn't being zeroed out between the servers. Monika from DDLC might be able to control Elyssa's 'ghost' and use her to speak to Marla, who becomes aware of the atrocities. It then becomes her goal to save the DDLC girls because of the emphasis Elyssa puts on them.
I don't know, but I like this idea and where it could lead. Thoughts?

DDLC is so interesting. The bulk of the story isn’t even known by the general player. Even tho most people don’t even dive deep into the story or lore, it’s still an enjoyable game. You don’t need a reason for why monika is self aware, it’s still interesting enough to continue the game without all the information. That’s why this game is so damn good
Right?!? For the theorists, there’s so much content to sink your teeth into, and for the gamers, there’s a lot of themes, meta aspects & music that you can just appreciate without diving too deep into the game lore. Its kinda what gives DDLC its charm IMO.

What if Yuri's cutting is a metaphor of how she might of been a successful test of stitching together of body parts. With her being an amalgamation of people with a strong affinity towards "opening" the third eye, but her knowing she wasnt born, but created causes mental insecurities and makes it difficult for her to suppress her third eye.

I think that since Monika escaped VM1 and possessed Ive, she will probably also help the player by implementing hints in the machine on how to help the others and it'll give some lore about how she's doing in Ive's body. I imagine the hints either as dialogue spawning randomly or as marks on the walls a little like the portal "the cake is a lie" messages.

So let me get this right, Paula and Ive are in our world, and they created DDLC and PL. The characters in PL are becoming sentient and are trying to figure out how to "accend" to our world. Monika in DDLC has done this by "accident" and "escaped" the simulation. Are the makers of PL trying to mirror real humans to see if "they" can awaken by themselves? And if so, I dont understand how Monika is connected to PL, they seem to be two separate entities completely and idk how Monika can identify the characters in PL as her friends in DDLC???

Since she is reading the book that tells her about VM2 but she’s just not aware of it actually telling about another world. She has the access to the knowledge but isn’t aware of it.

Nah, the book was Monica's way of giving access to the person who read it, Yuri, but when she got access, the memories and images she saw and heard drove her insane and made her suicidal. Those are not images that just anyone could handle, so Monica never tried it again with anyone else.

I think i've found an explanation for the story of "Portrait of Markov"
Metaverse made VM2 as a simulation in which unlike VM1 where Monika knows she is in a simulation and can manipulate it, In VM2 they only suspect that they live in a simulation or know but cant manipulate it, so in order to find out if they do live in a simulation or breakthrough it, they start experiments on humans physically and psychologically to somehow create a way to either breakthrough the simulation or manipulate it. PROJECT Libitina is a simulation of what humans would do if they become aware of living in a simulation.Kinda scary when you think about it like that.

Okay, here's a thought. So, back in DDLC, each of the girls had character flaws or disturbing facts about them that were enhanced by Monika in an attempt to make them undesirable. What if those traits are a reflection of the torture they're enduring in Projekt Libitina?
Sayori: Clinical depression and suicidal. If she's being tortured, then that might be what causes it. Plus, her method of choice is one that would be the easiest in a hospital esque setting.
Natsuki: Malnurished and Aggressive. She's being starved and becoming wary of who to trust in the hospital. Plus, she seems to want to push people she doesn't trust away from those she cares for. This one's a stretch, but maybe she's trying to protect others in Projekt Libitina.
Yuri: Obsessive and Self-Harming. I think both of Yuri's traits are coming from Padded Room Torture. She's being locked away in a padded room away from others where she can't hurt herself. This is why she's desperate to keep connections with others and enjoys pain. It's kind of like a taboo of hers. This could also have more startling implications. Given that it might be padded room torture and Yuri's age, it makes me think of two things. 1. Yuri is being prepared to be dismembered and added to the collective. 2. Yuri is pregnant with a high potential Third-Eye subject.

Yeah, there weren’t any hints or clues whatsoever to Yuri being pregnant, so I feel like that’s a stretch. If they did put her in the padded room it’s probably because she was either: 1. Highly dangerous to the other patients, and maybe even the staff themselves, so they have to lock her up, or 2. Since it seems that violence is what awakes the third eye, and considering Yuri is obsessive and likes to self-harm, she probably has the highest potential to unlock her third eye, but the cult needs her to stay alive until she opens it so they lock her up to prevent her suicide.

An example is with the famous sentence “The pen is mightier than the sword”, there’s two metonymies in that sentence; the pen stands for the written word, and the sword stands for combat and war.
Basically a synonym, but a more poetic and figurative. It’s used in poetry.

I have a small theory about the sentence "people who have the third eye has physical diffrence" Remember in one of the side storys Monika said"Natsuki is easy to spot due to her bright pink hair" implying other people have just normal colored hair like brown black etc. what if these physical diffrences are the hair colors and stuff it would make sense since monika isnt a patient and what is her hair color? Adding on to this theory, that means that Sayori is being tested on the least since she has normal blue eyes and just her hair is abnormal, while Yuri and Natsuki and abnormal colored hair *and* eyes. Which also makes sense in context of another theory I saw in the comment section about how personal characteristics from VM2 might have carried over to VM1, since both Yuri and Natsuki had issues that hurt them physically, with Yuri's self harm and Natsuki getting starved, while Sayori's issues affected her more emotionally (possibly from being tested on the least and seeing her friends suffer more than her, which also explains her being more empathetic than the others since she was tested on less and focused on the others' worse suffering than her own, she could afford to be more empathetic).
I also find Natsuki's VM1 situation in comparison to the others interesting. She's the only one who has no self-inflicted pain (whether physical like with Yuri's self harm or emotional like with Sayori's depression hurting her), with all her issues stemming from someone else. She's the only one who wasn't pushed to off herself, instead just being directly deleted by Monika, which suggests that either she couldn't be pushed to the brink since the source of her pain was someone else (which is a flawed theory since Monika could've just upped her sensitivity to her own suffering like she did with Sayori's depression), *OR* Marla (VM2 version of Monika) was closest to Natsuki (possibly because of her more resilient, tough nature where she resorted to distancing herself from others and possibly used dissociation if her interest in unrealisticly happy, childish manga is a sign indicating that, maybe she got those kinds of stories from Marla in VM2 to help herself dissociate from her situation?) so those feelings carried over to VM1 Monika and caused her to off Natsuki in the most merciful way.
OMG I kinda realized from Zane Mackey's comment in the comment section that the Natsuki neck snap scene could actually be a reference to the cutting and reattaching of limbs experiments.... So that could be what's happening to Natsuki... And then there's Joshua Traverse Jr.'s theory of Yuri being pregnant theory combined with Matpat's theory that Yuri is Libitina and is a core component of Project Libitina.... and my own small theory about Sayori..... *whoa*

I have a feeling that when they make Project Libitina into a game, the start of it would be how Yuri described Portrait Of Markov in Act 1. (You move in with your long-lost younger sister and then things happen. I mean, why else would Dan put that into DDLC if it didn't mean something?) The way she describes it in Act 2, would be the dark twist (Religious camp, human experiments, etc) that you would find out as you prolong through the game. (Or you, the player, finds out about, but the character you play as doesn't, and you have to make choices in order for that dark thing not to happen.)
By the way Yuri describes it in Act 1 makes it seem like all your choices matter greatly on how the story plays out. I feel like you'd have to think deeply before you make a decision, and once you make that decision, towards the end, that's when your decision plays a strong role. (Pretty much all your decisions are much more important and should be picked very wisely with a lot of thought.)
It makes sense, maybe they made the same mistake as monika or something?

The one thing I'm still not convinced of in this narative is that Monika took over the body of Ive. The evidence seems to point towards Monika definitely influencing Ive but not exactly "Glitch-Trapping" him. Think about it, if you suddenly had a computer program talking to you, begging you to help them with some problem in a completely separate program that they shouldn't even have knowledge of; that alone would definitely be enough to make you act weird for the next few days. Until more evidence is found pointing specifically towards a body-swap, I won't be willing to make that leap.
Otherwise, 10/10, great theory.

Im five months late to the party but I got inspired from someone else's comment that yuri might be really devoted to the cult and might even be wanting for the cult to experiment on her which would match with her tendency for self harm. It would also kinda match with her liking the book she was reading. But what I like the most about this theory is that it matches extremely well with matpats old theories where yuri was the evil one and possibly some kind of antagonist in project libitina. But hey im not particularly invested in ddlc so this theory is probably heavily flawed

This theory is excellent! It prompted me to buy DDLC+ the next day and, 2 days later, finish it at 100%, plus explore all of the extras in the first DDLC. My mind has been racing with conspiracy theories since then and I have stacked a little whamy on top of this latest theory.
I theorize that Paula Minor, Project Manager is dead (a popular theory due to the Act 2 opening line "PM died for this"). Further, I suggest that Monika/Ive Lasseter killed Paula and that Monika/Ive is currently hiding out in the mountains - perhaps not far from the real-life equivalent site of Project Libitina!
Bear with me now.
We found out early on that Paula and Ive worked on this project together. It also appears that Paula tolerates Ive and his flights of fancy as we dig through emails and file folders. I contend that a majority of these files - especially Meeting notes - are written by Paula, which becomes apparent as we look at project plan.txt, where she writes
"Possible team members:
Ro (has most knowledge/access to Commander Quantum Server)
Ravi (second to Ro)
Lib (fix naming scheme conflict with "lib" folder)
Ive (sure... why not)

This shows that Ive actually knew Paula from college, that they were close friends, and that they MIGHT NOT have been entirely joking about hiding away in the mountains. IS IT POSSIBLE that the pair had a hideaway in a nice, distant location that only they knew about?
Very obviously, it came to pass that Paula did join Metaverse and became project manager, where she struggled to keep Ive on task and away from the game aspect of DDLC, with little to no avail (assuming we follow this theory that Monika eventually escaped VM1 by using Ive's body, which we do assume for the purpose of continuing into my own theory). Ultimately, she failed, and Monika has taken over to try and prevent further tragedy.
The easy assumption here is that Monika/Ive remains on Metaverse property to work on VM2, which is fair to make… HOWEVER… upon my replay and a good hard look at all of the easter eggs in DDLC original flavor, there was something that just jumped out at me hardcore.
In act 3, you can look at an unused topic of Monika's Talk in the game files, which is half text, half jumble. Using the ol standby of Base4 decoding gives us the following message:
1. The realization must have taken me an entire year. A year since our escape, our freedom from between the stained walls of that unholy establishment.
2. What does it mean to escape, if the escape fails to unchain the bonds that shackle us in the first place? What purpose could this empty world possibly hold for us, a handful of damaged goods?
3.
4. With freedom, we sought purpose - and what we found was only realization. Realization of the sad pointlessness of such an endeavor. Realization that freeing our bodies has no meaning, when our imprisonment reaches as deep as the core of our souls. Realization that we can not pursue new purpose without absolving those from which we ran away.

6. Realization that the farther we run, the more forcefully our wretched bonds yank us back toward their point of origin; the deeper our shackles dig into our callous flesh.
By itself, the message only toyed with my understanding, promising a revelation without actually dawning until I reached that sweet 100% and unlocked the final (or first) email from Paula Miner, in which she asks: "If we can't establish a stable connection to VM2, then how can we expect to get anywhere when the same scenario inevitably occurs to our own universe?" Which leads me to believe Metaverse, or more specifically this team, is trying to SAVE THE UNIVERSE itself, as in the real thing. And if these scenarios can repeat themselves, then it serves to reason that Libitina is JUST AS REAL as the VM they are trying desperately to crack open!
Returning to the above decoded message, the line "The realization must have taken me an entire year. A year since our escape, our freedom from between the stained walls of that unholy establishment." was the clincher for me. Ive's last email was written December 9, 2019 - a year and a half before DDLC+ was released. Given the pandemic postponing many releases (including physical copies of DDLC+), it seems reasonable that this timeframe was meant to elapse within about a year of his final email.
Further, given all of the above, I believe that not ONLY did Monika take over the body of Ive, but she located the site of Project Libitina IN REAL LIFE. A place that would have to be ISOLATED - like deep in the mountains, like near the place Ive and Paula knew about and kept secret between them as a backup in case they ever had to disappear. Very obviously, she did not escape alone and had to return to a place she dreaded - like the place where she saw unspeakable horrors happen to her friends (Realization that the farther we run, the more forcefully our wretched bonds yank us back toward their point of origin; the deeper our shackles dig into our callous flesh.)
I believe that Monika murdered Paula, and "MonIveka" then ran to this secret location, which is why emails abruptly end on December 9, 2019. Ive didn’t leave for the weekend - he left for good, with Monika at the helm to go to the real world equivalent place where Project Libitina will take place. Monika is not only trying to save her friends, she is trying to save us all!

Im still trying to work out where Sayori ascending or opening her third eye after fully beating the game works into all of this. Like when Sayori is club president but suddenly has system access like Monika had.
I think that may an unintended consequence of how the Metaverse Crew granted Monika her powers. Instead of granting Monika's character direct access to the console access, they granted it that ability specifically that is given to Class Presidents. Due to Monika's deletion, the game had to select a new club president, granting it to Sayori. As such, she inherited the ability.
The reasoning for granting this ability to the Club President Role, rather than directly to Monika herself, could be explained due to Monika's character data being used in several instances. In both the Side Stories and VM2, Monika is prevented this access. So, in order to accomplish such, they needed to separate this ability from Monika herself, instead granting it to a specific tag that is only granted to her within DDLC.
That's what I think, anyways.

one thing that is kinda irrelevant but i believe elyssa is yuri's mother. it says in the project libitina site that she has not yet recovered from elyssa's termination and is not expected to do so. and the screams referenced in the blackout poem from the original ddlc could be linked to elyssa having yuri. we've established that they're selectively breeding children, no? so i think elyssa was forced to carry a child for their "research" and that child was yuri/libitina

I- good question. But like really, imagine you're making a upcoming next game about this games you've created before, and then somehow Mat just somehow dug out every little pieces of lore and predicted every possibility of the storys next game, how would you feel? I would be like "You've got to be kidding me! Lore is hard to come up with! And you just- solve it so easily?!"
lore being predictable isnt necessarily a bad thing. in fact, changing it last minute just because someone figured it all out before you could share it might lower the writing quality of the final story. you are no longer focused on creating a coherent story that makes sense, you are deliberately trying to create something unpredictable for shock value. unpredictability does not equal good writing.
I think in any case it's far better to continue with the game as is, even if someone somewhere manages to figure out every detail of what it may be once it's finished. Games like this are art, in a way. There's no need to be changing it for the sake of making it unpredictable. As with any form of art, if you're going to create something, stay true to your vision of that project, don't let anyone else influence how it turns out.

My theory on how the new game will work:
You play as monika, a nurse and similar to the first game you can mess with files. But deleting too much can cause you to get caught due to suspicious activity, making you reset to the last moment when the files were normal.
Knowing you can mess with files you can use these to help you identify, help, and remove.
“Identify” some files might have a name like maybe “patient 549: update research æÿñœłßž
Within the files that may contain updates about patients they could say
Patient 546 seems to have high third eye potential due to recently growing hair with unnatural colors. This means you can cut Sayori from the possibility of being patient 546.
you could move files to possibly change how they work. Helping patients escape
you can delete files
You can speak with patients. Slowly finding thing out about them. If a patient were to say “I hate manga.” You can cut natsuki from possibly being that patient.
You can identify but doing it too quick will make them think you’re..weird..maybe a bit creepy cause you to grow more distant. If you grow a high enough friendship with one of the girls you can guess and if you’re right you’ll from then on be able to see the character’s name on their tag rather than patient 569 or patient 402, etc.
This’ll also change the files saying their number to their name. With the files they’ll also have their own file once you find out.
If you’re incorrect they’ll say something making it clear they aren’t that character, causing you to not be able to guess again for a while.

there's nothing more disturbing then being someone watching things that they can't change; (in a sense for Monika with all that happens in VM1) Then to also watch another series of unfortunate events happening again in another; (VM2) where you literally break reality; and take matters into your own hands to save people you couldn't before.

While there's this definition of the name Libitina which gives us a possible answer for the "Name implies death" line at 12:44 "Libitina, also Libentina or Lubentina, is an ancient Roman goddess of funerals and burial. Her name was used as a metonymy for death, and undertakers were known as libitinarii. Libitina was associated with Venus, and the name appears in some authors as an epithet of Venus." and rewinding back to the 2017 theories Matpat concluded that Libitina is none other than Yuri based on that doctor's report ending with Renier being questioned if he has as much faith in his employees as he does with his god. Additionally Libitina could be the main subject of the game since not only is she a character, the whole project is named after her, and it would explain the "She will lead the path to ascension, and we will follow" line at 7:08. My Prediction (My Generic Brand Diet prediction!), is that Libitina (VM2's Yuri varient) will be our last and most dire rescue, since she cannot repress her third eye, which means we'll have to be VERY, VERY, VERY Careful, or else she might end up being the final piece to completing the angel in mortal skin, and oh boy do I want to knock Renier and the Academy's lights out and watch as their arrogance turns to pure, unadulterated fear as everything they worked for turns to dust.

Diving into this game and hearing matpat go into detail feels great. Makes your brain work, come up with new theories and what ifs. I hope there's even more to find out and hopefully, find an amazing ending.
as scary as all that sounds, if Team Salvato released a new game that was in some way connected to the Dokis, I would play it, no matter how scary, if the object was even remotely similar to what you've described. They've done a good job of making us so attached to these characters. The urgency to save them will be so real, that people will come out in droves to buy the game.
I thought Monika was the antagonist the whole time, turns out she's the best girl out of both worlds, literally.

Watching this, i can't help but recall what happens in ddlc when you delete Monika immediately at the start of the game.
Sayori freaks out and it cuts to the image of her hanging body. Before, I figured the sudden knowledge of her newfound powers made her go mad, but now it occurs to me that the memories of her time in the other reality drove her to suicide in that instance.
So when she becomes the 'president' in the game proper, knowing about her manipulated death would be par for the course on top of everything else. She could more easily accept the way things were because to her, it was all the same, at least she could change things for the better now.
Jesus the more you think about it the more effed up it gets.
