what if the xxxxxx is actually Monika real name Elyssa, who escaped from the third eye project and now grow up with the intention to stop the project. Making her the heroine for the next game. I mean you have to know the project really exist first in order to stop it, else it's just a book.

Remember, Monika talks about “remembering” in her character file so the story might be following her trying to help Yuri suppress the third eye or do it herself to save yuri and the others, like stated in the report. I know I’m wayyyy late to the party, but I was surprised that MatPat didn’t mention this. When you read the Portrait of Markov with Yuri, you say that the main character’s personality reminds you of Yuri. Yuri is surprised that that is the similarity you saw, saying that something else is similar between the two of them later in the book. But what else besides personality could be similar between the two of them.... Unless Yuri was literally the main character of the book
Something I noticed is if you read the words on the original artworks in this order: Yuri Sayori Natsuki Monika You get this: My heart pounds Inside my head I'm gonna tell everyone I love you Just something fun I noticed.
I guess you noticed that too, but the these phrases all indicate indirectly the area in which the specific character gets her most disturbing part (sorry for my bad English): like, "my heart pounds" untill she stabbed herself, "inside my head" until she hanged herself, "I'm gonna tell everyone" until her texts became all censored and "I love you" until you realize her love is so obsessive and dangerous (especially for others), a "guiltyless" and "horrible" love.

OK I think it’s pretty obvious that Yuri has already opened her third eye through torture, but what caused her to really start developing those habits of twitching, and going practically insane ,but what I find fascinating is she gives out how the kids at the camp were turned into test subjects ,but what puzzles me most is how most of the kids there had or have some part of a third eye in them and how a normal science guy found that third eye theory, so I’m kind of guessing that he has a third eye but what I’m most concerned about is how they found that camp of kids who are filled with have third eye pieces and how they found that camp, and who was running it before.
This is crazy. First you think it’s a dating sim, Second you think it’s about how to deal with depression, Third you think it’s a cool game that messes with files, Fourth you think it’s about a hidden scary story, Fifth you realize it’s just promotional content. Then it’s just Monika.
There's one other thing you missed that might be interesting. During the display of the poems for the festival, Yuri suddenly becomes very proactive, even though Sayori had claimed to be the next to share her poem. The title of that poem.. is "Afterimage of a Crimson Eye". The MC describes her becoming a completely different person while telling it, and describes to poem to have 'lots of twists and turns'. Could it be that she wrote about the other game?

Another reason why Yuri is probably Libitina can be seen when you start reading the book with her for the second time. When the protagonist said that Yuri reminds him of the character of the book Yuri got really nervous. Then your character says that it was because she second guesses herself . She then goes on to say that she thought you meant something else about her and that this part of the story hasn't happened yet.
Actually, I remember thinking that a popular indie game around that time had a few similarities with DDLC and the two might've been connected, but I forgot what the game was and what it was that tipped me off. Either way, you might be onto something here.

I'm surprised they didn't mention the fact that in the game the player said that the main character in the Portrait of Markov reminds them of Yuri in both acts. In the first act, where Yuri is her normal self/calm, the player says its because she always seconds guesses herself and Yuri doesn't think much of it. But in the second act, where Yuri is more unhinged, she starts freaking out but then the player explains that its because she always second guesses herself and she calms down and says "I thought you meant...something else about her. Were not even that far into the book yet". I feel like this also proves this theory but that's just me 👍
If you delete the game, re install it, delete all previous data, and name your character "Libitina" she will show up as a character in the character files
0:07 I had a little terrified moment when I saw Ronnie character file, thinking "Didn't he actually commit suicide? Is it related to that?". Then quickly finding out this video was published roughly half a year before it happened. You couldn't know it back then but it's still quite creepy.
The Protagonist tells Yuri not once but TWICE that she reminds him of one of the characters in the book. I feel like that's a pretty big hint towards Yuri being Libitina as well.
I feel like the Protagonist also is from the game they came from. He could be a doctor because he does say some lines that a doctor would say when Sayori tells him about her love. But he does tend act agressive sometimes as well so I don't know.
@@Strawberry_Chocolate_cat He's a pretty bad doctor if he's supposed to be a doctor. He says the absolute wrong things to help someone with depression when confronted by Sayori, for example. The Protagonist is just a bland visual novel stand-in for the player.
She also explains that she likes the scary or gory books bc it gives you a different perspective of what’s wrong or right like the hero or bad guy in a story sort of a parallel or reference to the theory of Monica being the hero in the new game and yuri being the bad guy
Also, when it comes to the glitched/corrupted images of the characters, Yuri is always pictured with photorealistic eyes. None of the other girls have that. There's definitely been an eye theme to her all along. Great theory, as always!
One thing I noticed JUST NOW that helps your theory a bit is the fact that if you go the Yuri route. In the second act, while reading the book with her that is supposed her story, the mc states that the main character reminds him of her. When you read the Portrait of Markov with Yuri for the first time, the dialogue between the two characters goes as followes: Us: "The main character kind of reminds me of you." Yuri gets a bit nervous, looks at us and says: "What are you talking about? We're not alike at all!" It was there all along...

This episode definitely has the best editing, man. A huge clap and a half for the editor(s)! And also for Steph for the amazing voice acting! One more proof that might confirm that Yuri indeed is Libitina: During the second act when we're reading the book with Yuri, the MC at one point says that the girl in the book really reminds him of Yuri. She starts panicking as she already read the book once and knows that the girl MC is speaking of is a murderer - she's scared that we know her real nature. By the way - have you ever realized how Yuri takes the most spotlight during the game? Y'know, constantly taking you away from others in second act. That's also interesing. And while Monika doesn't really care about Natsuki or Sayori (she doesn't see them as very dangerous threats) she's VERY wary of Yuri and tries to mess with her and keep you away from her the most.
Another point on the 'spotlight' thing, considering most gamers are pretty indoorsy, nerdy people, I doubt it's a mistake that Yuri is intentionally the one that would most likely appeal to them.
I feel like she's the most wary of Yuri since Yuri is the one with the most obsessive personality and when you're childhood friend is taken out of the picture the next logical person to go for would be the pretty sophisticated girl with the big breasts
Also, if you get the cutscene when you and Yuri are reading the book, your character says that the character in the book reminds him of Yuri. Yuri then says that she isn't like the character at all. She thinks that the main character might be on to her, so she tries to convince him that she isn't like the character. But she IS like the character. This is why she was doubting him so much.

There's a part in the second act when you're reading with Yuri that you say the main character reminds you of her. Unlike in the first act when you pick her, she gets especially unsettled as if you know something you shouldn't. Then she mentions that you couldn't know that about the main character yet because you haven't gotten far enough into the book... I thought it was just about her dangerous tendencies. They did that for legal reasons, because they're obviously canonically not. Though, I mean... canonically, they're AI at their base, with changing appearances (assumably)
School ages would like to have a word about that. Because there is no way, as Yuri is the only senior thus the only one able to be nearing 18. And that's in any school system, let alone the fact it's pretty obviously the Japanese school system based on the uniforms and the fact that 3 of 4 girls have Japanese names plus the settings being very Japanese.

DDLC is such an amazing game, and your videos about it are even more amazing! One small detailed I noticed is that you refer to deleting Monika as the games true ending. The true ending is not just deleting Monika, it's having pursued every girl in Act 1 before doing so, which will give you the true ending and will show a thank you letter of Dan Salvato personally

There’s another thing that proves Yuri is Libitina! In the first act, when you read the book with Yuri, the MC tells her the main character of the book reminds him of her. She then calmly says “Oh? Why’s that” or something along those lines. MC answers about how she second guesses herself. But in the second act, when the MC tells her about the main character of the book, she gets nervous and tells him that she’s nothing like her, but MC explains that he only meant her personality. She calms down, but seems little nervous. She got nervous because she thought MC discovered her secret.

Another thing that also threw me off in the game is when you as the character say “the girl in the story reminds me of u” and after that Yuri starts freaking out as if .... she is hiding something but once u as the character just says because of the way it’s hard for u to make decisions, she looks relieved like oh he doesn’t know . That part is the part that makes me believe in this theory even more.
The same knife she had when she killed herself and the same knife shown in the online gallery where she uses her own blood to show us exactly what the Portrait of Markov looks like. Also we need to take into consideration the main character who is an embodiment of yourself. Both of you read to a certain point in the story so the main character has some knowledge of the events that transpired. Perhaps our main character in the game will also make an appearance in Portrait of Markov.

You forgot one of the special poems in Act 2 which says: "Today I cut my skin open for the first time. It was exhilarating. I think I understand how [blank] feels now. I'm supposed to be the responsible one though, so I don't think I'll be doing it again unless I decide to kill myself." That was written by either Yuri or Monika and the name that's crossed out is either Elyssa or Yuri. Please thumbs this up so that The Game Theorists can see! EDIT: Also, in Act 2 Yuri tries to get the protagonist by himself because she didn't get a chance to "discuss" her book with him but Monika was having none of that and skipped to the next scene. Was it because she didn't want the protag to spend time with Yuri or was it because she didn't want Yuri to spoil the plot?

No. If you open the poem image in a text editor you can see that it was prepared in Photoshop and that the blacked out word is Yuri, because the file stores the text in readable form.

I wonder if it’s completely abandoned at this point. I’d really hope not, but it’s totally plausible. Allthough, as DDLC+ shows, it’s normal for us to be left in the dark for years, and something new to be released randomly.
Remember the part where the Protagonist says "This character reminds me of you" to Yuri, referring to the book, and Yuri freaks out saying "I'M NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL." This is more evidence that MatPat is correct on his theory.
Also... when your character and Yuri are reading the Portrait of Markov book you compare the main character to her and she then gets all nervous and denies it.
One missing thing though, is that she isn't insane like that 'til Monika changes her files to force it. She's normal until then. It doesn't fit. That means there also has to be something similar with Monika for her to make that happen. A theory I've heard is that the third eye is the ability to break the fourth wall. Reading into project libitina explains it a little, as the subject with the third eye could change code to kill something. The failed suppression test can also be explained as the inability to stop the game code from breaking as an after affect, like the script breaking in Doki Doki. Plus, the posters with strings is a weak part of Mat's theory, because it could just be strings entering Yuri's heart, as that's what Monika manipulates. Seeing that Monika regrets her actions, and that she looks to save the character in the hidden message from her, I believe that the events from another game caused her to break down in Doki Doki. Another thing is a hidden bit of text in the Just Monika ending that says she didn't understand her abilities until she had escaped somewhere. This leads me to believe that she is libitina, and the others escaped from this other place, presumably another game, with her.
Guys, you probably know this but there's the "Monika's Talk" thing. In the end, in the room with JUST MONIKA, she talks about different subjects, one of them being the portrait of Markov, and she says the following: "Hey, you know that book you were reading with Yuri? Portrait of...whatever it was called... It's funny, because I'm pretty sure that book-- Ah... Actually, I don't think I should be talking about this. Ahaha, sorry! Just forget I said anything." Also, in the game scripts for this bit of the game there are unused sentences filled with base64 code, which I decoded into this: "The realization must have taken me an entire year. A year since our escape, our freedom from between the stained walls of that unholy establishment. What does it mean to escape, if the escape fails to unchain the bonds that shackle us in the first place? What purpose could this empty world possibly hold for us, a handful of damaged goods? With freedom, we sought purpose - and what we found was only realization. Realization of the sad pointlessness of such an endeavor. Realization that freeing our bodies has no meaning, when our imprisonment reaches as deep as the core of our souls. Realization that we can not pursue new purpose without absolving those from which we ran away. If the person in your decoded story is one of these girls, they must of had escaped recently! What I believe is that Yuri was the only one with third eye activation. I think the theory is wrong in the fact that Monika is believed to be the main character. I think Yuri (or Libitina) is the main character.
what if the xxxxxx is actually Monika real name Elyssa, who escaped from the third eye project and now grow up with the intention to stop the project. Making her the heroine for the next game. I mean you have to know the project really exist first in order to stop it, else it's just a book.

Remember, Monika talks about “remembering” in her character file so the story might be following her trying to help Yuri suppress the third eye or do it herself to save yuri and the others, like stated in the report. When you read the Portrait of Markov with Yuri, you say that the main character’s personality reminds you of Yuri. Yuri is surprised that that is the similarity you saw, saying that something else is similar between the two of them later in the book. But what else besides personality could be similar between the two of them....

OK I think it’s pretty obvious that Yuri has already opened her third eye through torture, but what caused her to really start developing those habits of twitching, and going practically insane ,but what I find fascinating is she gives out how the kids at the camp were turned into test subjects ,but what puzzles me most is how most of the kids there had or have some part of a third eye in them and how a normal science guy found that third eye theory, so I’m kind of guessing that he has a third eye but what I’m most concerned about is how they found that camp of kids who are filled with have third eye pieces and how they found that camp, and who was running it before.

There's one other thing you missed that might be interesting. During the display of the poems for the festival, Yuri suddenly becomes very proactive, even though Sayori had claimed to be the next to share her poem. The title of that poem.. is "Afterimage of a Crimson Eye". The MC describes her becoming a completely different person while telling it, and describes to poem to have 'lots of twists and turns'. Could it be that she wrote about the other game?

Another reason why Yuri is probably Libitina can be seen when you start reading the book with her for the second time. When the protagonist said that Yuri reminds him of the character of the book Yuri got really nervous. Then your character says that it was because she second guesses herself . She then goes on to say that she thought you meant something else about her and that this part of the story hasn't happened yet.

I'm surprised they didn't mention the fact that in the game the player said that the main character in the Portrait of Markov reminds them of Yuri in both acts. In the first act, where Yuri is her normal self/calm, the player says its because she always seconds guesses herself and Yuri doesn't think much of it. But in the second act, where Yuri is more unhinged, she starts freaking out but then the player explains that its because she always second guesses herself and she calms down and says "I thought you meant...something else about her. Were not even that far into the book yet". I feel like this also proves this theory but that's just me 👍

The Protagonist tells Yuri not once but TWICE that she reminds him of one of the characters in the book. I feel like that's a pretty big hint towards Yuri being Libitina as well.
I feel like the Protagonist also is from the game they came from. He could be a doctor because he does say some lines that a doctor would say when Sayori tells him about her love. But he does tend act agressive sometimes as well so I don't know.

In the second act, while reading the book with her that is supposed her story, the mc states that the main character reminds him of her. A-ah...” Then the mc says it’s because she second guesses herself and Yuri sounds relieved. As if she didn’t want him to know. One more proof that might confirm that Yuri indeed is Libitina:
During the second act when we're reading the book with Yuri, the MC at one point says that the girl in the book really reminds him of Yuri. She starts panicking as she already read the book once and knows that the girl MC is speaking of is a murderer - she's scared that we know her real nature.
By the way - have you ever realized how Yuri takes the most spotlight during the game? Y'know, constantly taking you away from others in second act. That's also interesing. And while Monika doesn't really care about Natsuki or Sayori (she doesn't see them as very dangerous threats) she's VERY wary of Yuri and tries to mess with her and keep you away from her the most.

Another point on the 'spotlight' thing, considering most gamers are pretty indoorsy, nerdy people, I doubt it's a mistake that Yuri is intentionally the one that would most likely appeal to them.
I feel like she's the most wary of Yuri since Yuri is the one with the most obsessive personality and when you're childhood friend is taken out of the picture the next logical person to go for would be the pretty sophisticated girl with the big breasts
So, on Team Salvato's website it says that the guy who makes these has had some serious mental health issues. That's why the game is delayed.

Also, if you get the cutscene when you and Yuri are reading the book, your character says that the character in the book reminds him of Yuri. Yuri then says that she isn't like the character at all. She thinks that the main character might be on to her, so she tries to convince him that she isn't like the character. But she IS like the character. This is why she was doubting him so much.

There's a part in the second act when you're reading with Yuri that you say the main character reminds you of her. Unlike in the first act when you pick her, she gets especially unsettled as if you know something you shouldn't. Then she mentions that you couldn't know that about the main character yet because you haven't gotten far enough into the book... I thought it was just about her dangerous tendencies. One small detailed I noticed is that you refer to deleting Monika as the games true ending. The true ending is not just deleting Monika, it's having pursued every girl in Act 1 before doing so, which will give you the true ending and will show a thank you letter of Dan Salvato personally

There’s another thing that proves Yuri is Libitina! In the first act, when you read the book with Yuri, the MC tells her the main character of the book reminds him of her. She then calmly says “Oh? Why’s that” or something along those lines. MC answers about how she second guesses herself. But in the second act, when the MC tells her about the main character of the book, she gets nervous and tells him that she’s nothing like her, but MC explains that he only meant her personality. She calms down, but seems little nervous. She got nervous because she thought MC discovered her secret.
There's still the loose end tho that Monica ADMITTED that all the girls where normal when not under her influence

Another thing that also threw me off in the game is when you as the character say “the girl in the story reminds me of u” and after that Yuri starts freaking out as if .... she is hiding something but once u as the character just says because of the way it’s hard for u to make decisions, she looks relieved like oh he doesn’t know . That part is the part that makes me believe in this theory even more.
She starts freaking out whenever she believes something negative is said about her, so that's not really good evidence.

Also we need to take into consideration the main character who is an embodiment of yourself. Both of you read to a certain point in the story so the main character has some knowledge of the events that transpired. Perhaps our main character in the game will also make an appearance in Portrait of Markov.

You forgot one of the special poems in Act 2 which says:
"Today I cut my skin open for the first time. It was exhilarating. I think I understand how [blank] feels now. I'm supposed to be the responsible one though, so I don't think I'll be doing it again unless I decide to kill myself."
That was written by either Yuri or Monika and the name that's crossed out is either Elyssa or Yuri.

EDIT: Also, in Act 2 Yuri tries to get the protagonist by himself because she didn't get a chance to "discuss" her book with him but Monika was having none of that and skipped to the next scene. Was it because she didn't want the protag to spend time with Yuri or was it because she didn't want Yuri to spoil the plot?
It could also be Monika. She's shown to be suicidal as well. There's a txt file where she says she could just kill herself but donesn't because of you, or that it would be really easy just to delete herself.

Game Theory, I have great news for you:
The names Libitina and Elyssa are mentioned in the book "The Portrait of Markov" read by Yuri. And apparently sisters Libitina and Elyssa. Also in episode one, Libitina says her hair is purple in her nightmare. The full sentence is:
"My face was covered in long, purple hair."
I haven't gotten to chapter two yet, but for your information, I'm writing this. I think you could make a special video for this book. And if you know what's going on in the book.. I think you can make a video again. And if you did, I didn't see it.

Remember the part where the Protagonist says "This character reminds me of you" to Yuri, referring to the book, and Yuri freaks out saying "I'M NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL." This is more evidence that MatPat is correct on his theory.

One missing thing though, is that she isn't insane like that 'til Monika changes her files to force it. She's normal until then. It doesn't fit. That means there also has to be something similar with Monika for her to make that happen. A theory I've heard is that the third eye is the ability to break the fourth wall. Reading into project libitina explains it a little, as the subject with the third eye could change code to kill something. The failed suppression test can also be explained as the inability to stop the game code from breaking as an after affect, like the script breaking in Doki Doki. Plus, the posters with strings is a weak part of Mat's theory, because it could just be strings entering Yuri's heart, as that's what Monika manipulates. Seeing that Monika regrets her actions, and that she looks to save the character in the hidden message from her, I believe that the events from another game caused her to break down in Doki Doki. Another thing is a hidden bit of text in the Just Monika ending that says she didn't understand her abilities until she had escaped somewhere. This leads me to believe that she is libitina, and the others escaped from this other place, presumably another game, with her.

Guys, you probably know this but there's the "Monika's Talk" thing. In the end, in the room with JUST MONIKA, she talks about different subjects, one of them being the portrait of Markov, and she says the following:
"Hey, you know that book you were reading with Yuri? Portrait of...whatever it was called... It's funny, because I'm pretty sure that book-- Ah... Actually, I don't think I should be talking about this. Ahaha, sorry! Just forget I said anything."
Also, in the game scripts for this bit of the game there are unused sentences filled with base64 code, which I decoded into this:
"The realization must have taken me an entire year. A year since our escape, our freedom from between the stained walls of that unholy establishment.
What does it mean to escape, if the escape fails to unchain the bonds that shackle us in the first place? What purpose could this empty world possibly hold for us, a handful of damaged goods?

If the person in your decoded story is one of these girls, they must of had escaped recently! What I believe is that Yuri was the only one with third eye activation.
