This is late, but once the lines stop updating in the command prompt, open L4D2 and then type in console "openserverbrowser". Hit LAN and it should show up.
@@TheeGreenguy No problem man. Be sure to port forward as well. I forgot to mention that you should launch L4D2 before you turn on the server, as Steam will count the server launching thing as a game for some reason.
hey man, i've fully made my server and everything works to connect, i just can't change it to versus or get my sourcemod mods to work. i've set it to versus through the server.cfg and when i join my server it says campaign. any ideas?
@@papak2490 I wasn't talking about the server. You mentioned the Admin Menu mod and were having trouble using it. I'd thought I'd tell you how to use it properly.

You keep referring to the server, but I'm not talking about the server. I'm talking about the mod. Do you still need help in using the add-on, or not? If it's "no", fine. I'm just trying to confirm your response and come to an understanding that this discussion is not about the server, but the mod.

@@dqrkfoxx it almost the same way with steam cmd just a little different. I knew how to port foward already I just wanted to know how to start a server and it was easy I have my left4dead2 server running 24/7 I get a full lobby in the afternoon on left4dead2
@@Traxixxxx also i forgot to mention, close your steam and left 4 dead 2 before running your server, because if you have left 4 dead 2 open while you run your server it will not work and also when steam is open and you run your server steam will think your running left 4 dead 2 and then you won't be able to run left 4 dead 2, so it's best to exit out of steam and left 4 dead 2 and then run your server and then you can open steam again and run left 4 dead 2.
@@supremecookie7123 i know that dude. It's just.. my server does not show up on steam group servers.. i'm trying everything for like 2 days straight.. we're actually on a discord call with my friend right now. Trying to figure out why my server won't show up on steam group servers :V
@@Traxixxxx not only that the steam group server won't show up in the steam group list if you don't have lan games discoverable on in your multiplayer settings

it's probably your sv_lan is set to 1 or you haven't port forwarded your router

@@FrostyDLR Unfortunately not. I could be wrong but I think it's a pretty annoying process to get a L4D2 server started so I gave up.
How do you change the map you're on because when I type connect (my IP) it takes me to a game with no map and it is stuck on a loading screen

"-insecure" .....
if you want Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) on, go to the .bat file you made and replace "-insecure" with "-secure"
