My headcannon for why Alex in game couldn't take Doctor Mercer's memories is because when it was released, Dr. Mercer was mostly dead already, so any kind of genetic material that the game wants to justify where memories are stored in the body would have been mostly decomposed. In game, we never consume already dead corpses, only people who are actively still alive or very freshly dead. Dr. Mercer was presumably killed sometime before the virus was able to completely consume him, even if just shortly. This would also explain somewhat why James Heller, P2 Protagonist, doesn't have this problem since his transformation is immediate. It's also somewhat theorized that Heller has "annoyingly resistant DNA" because his DNA is more compatible with the virus, meaning it works in tandem with it rather than completely replacing the original human which is what happened to Mercer.
I feel like Heller's DNA actually goes against the virus, mostly because of how the first level of tendrils looks like disfigured human arms and not a mess of black and red biomass
@@javierpupo8042 I see that more that he gave up on trying to figure out who mercer was when he realized he wasn't even mercer, but the blacklight virus As for not consuming corpses, that's just a gameplay mechanic. Not indicative of what mercer is limited too. McMullen is more or less a big plot hole since there's evidence in p2 that he can take memories and even powers just via touch and not consumption. Either that, or simply mercer didn't realize he wasn't limited to living ppl at the time of McMullen.
@@xxprototypexx5056nah, him infecting people in an instant is just shit that p2 came up with, it had different writers so its all over the place and inconsistent
The way i would fix prototype 1 and 2 story is i would make alex mercer do a majin boo and split into two people. One is all of the negative emotions and memories (along with the original Alexanders personality) and the other is the sentient blacklight virus that has its own memories and good will towards humanity. You can make it to where the first one has all of the powers except the ability to take dna. The second one can be powerless but still has the ability to take dna. You can either play as the second one and try to kill your other half before he does something bad or use the second one to assist heller and guide him. That way the alex mercer from the first game isnt ruined by the second game.
@@Glitchedpixel5 I have a lot more ideas too. The first alex (the one who CANT absorb dna, gonna call him Alexander) has an exception to his weakness. He can take the abilities of other evolved. That way his motivation for creating a bunch of evolved is established. The evolved get stronger and get new abilities and Alex takes them when he needs to. Another idea for the plot is making Heller a canidate for project Orion. You can write it so that he has specific dna that is ideal for the project and he gets assigned to what ever gentech/blackwatch lab to be converted. This dna is why Alexander is interested in him, as he is curious to the interaction between blacklight and this dna. He also might want to evolve heller so he can take his dna for himself. This can explain why a lot of the evoled call him 'brutish' and 'muscle bound' cuz hes literally half super soldier half evolved. You can give heller an even stronger muscle mass power that effects the way his whole body looks, sorta like armor from p1. You can make it so that he cant run as fast but is super strong. Heller hating Alexander for the death of his family is good so i wouldnt change that, but i would make it to where he doesnt actually join alexander until a few missions in, instead of immediately like it normally is. I would make it so that he fights off Alexander after becoming evolved and runs away. He can discover something about blackwatch or gentech a few missions later that causes him to join alexander. I would make heller choosing to go against alexander the same but I would make it so that when alexander tries to consume him, it fails and heller gets super weakened and goes half unconscious. Alexander also gets weakened and flees. While heller is half unconscious, he will be saved by the other alex, introducing his character. I would completely scrap the whole hellers daughter being necessary for alexanders plan thing. In fact, i would make it so that she is actually dead like she is supposed to be. Alexanders motivation can be a hatred of humanity, but it just needs to be explained and explored better in the story. I like the contrast between alexander and alex, with alexander lacking humanity despite the fact that hes the original human that got infected, while alex (which is a sentient virus) is not human but has more humanity than most of the other charcters.

I'm asking a genuine question but what is that Prototype fans love so much about Alex Mercer? He's a pretty bland character with not much of a personality (given that he's a literal virus, it kinda makes sense but still). He's cool but not all that memorable imo
@@SolidSnake240 Define memorable. He's kind of like that cutscene artstyle from Prototype 2. You're looking for color, but he's just black and white. But black and white doesn't mean bland, we've all seen enough well made sketches. He's not really defined by any "quirks" like, I dunno a One Piece character, with habits like having no sense of direction, or being immature. He's defined by three main aspects that break down into smaller explanations, his identity, his relatability, and his edginess that kind of all interact. His relatability comes from what we start out with, him finding out he can absorb people on accident, and his looking for answers. His reactions to the story and the people around him that he cares about kind of cut into that too, which also grinds against his identity which we find out is that of a sociopathic paranoid. Which explains his thoughtlessness about the people he kills along the way. This usually defines his judgement, his care conflicting with his uncaring need for results. And they both of course interact with the edgy effortless "coolness" that he exhibits with his abilities and such, but that's mostly defined during gameplay with the utilization of his abilities and the way his default attire is styled. He's not exactly the best written character ever by all means, but calling him bland or implying he has no personality does seem to just be working off of a stereotype. But maybe I'm just tired and angry after hearing "early 2000's generic white male protagonist" over and over by people who've not played the games they're trying to make poor commentary on, and I'm just taking it out on you.

As for the ending let’s just say the fight again Alex try na kill heller and vice versa then all of a sudden a blackwatch specie of some sort interfere between their fight and they gets united to defeat the specie and it’s whole army and for the cliff hanger just show a scene heller daughter’s corpse getting researched by the blackwatch (because of the DNA ofc). Idk if somebody will be patient enough to read this whole monstrosity but I’m tryna make a point that there’s a lot that can be done in this franchise

Probably one of the coolest ideas for a game I have ever seen. You had it all man, kickass mutant powers, stealth mechanics, fighting zombies, monsters, evil black ops military personnel, throwing cars around, shapeshifting all that good shit. James Heller and Alex Mercer are both badass and the fact this series never got a third installment is a travesty.

He not only looks weirdly bulky, he looks messy. The hoodie is just this big lump and the high collar makes him look like he has his shoulders pulled up to his ears from non-stop stress. Which sucks because there are so many elements with potential cool factor that ends up clashing with each other.
A story I would like to see for the third one is because mercer is what he is , he's still present in Heler's psyche and there's this constant conflict in Heller to the point where he even uses Mercer's form sometimes.
Nah not really... Prototype 2 is still better. At least there was SOME explanation for it being garbage... DmC just doesn't. It's just garbage for garbage's sake.
I'm pretty sure that Alex was being controlled by Greene at the events of P2 and he was so desperate to be stopped that he let James win at the end. He wasn't even trying, I was him! I know what he is capable to do and a 4 years boosted Alex Mercer who just devoured what? Eight equivalent to himself from the first game? He should be able to at least pound my head so hard in the ground that the whole NY city would look like just got nuked. He should be able to completely destroy James Heller. So in my head canon he let James win and took the L as the sociopath chad he is, showing his middle finger to Greene and dying as Mercer.
He didn't try because he knew even if Heller consumed him he would survive. Alex is blacklight itself, so long as Blacklight exists, HE will always exist.
@@cotocoyerakson8195Your head cannon doesn't really matter cuz there's a comic that covers the events between the first 2 games. Heller had the same exact powers as Alex and had actual combat experience, years in fact so him being a better fighter than Alex and being to overpower him isn't far fetched. Mercer was a scientist with no combat experience prior to becoming the blacklight virus, he just fought on instinct and the superhuman strength it granted him.

@@javierpupo8042 I see that more that he gave up on trying to figure out who mercer was when he realized he wasn't even mercer, but the blacklight virus
As for not consuming corpses, that's just a gameplay mechanic. Not indicative of what mercer is limited too. McMullen is more or less a big plot hole since there's evidence in p2 that he can take memories and even powers just via touch and not consumption. Either that, or simply mercer didn't realize he wasn't limited to living ppl at the time of McMullen.

Bro you're cooking fr 🔥🔥
Somebody give this guy a time machine
If i REMEMBER prototype? That is my most favorite game ever. I read fanfiction about it, played an rpg with my friends about it, finished the game 8 times, only once on hard though.
I even an considering writing fanfic about it and actually use the cliffhangers the story used for one.

Alex mercer was a bad guy before we start to play him and I like how we find out what kind of person he is as through story progression
Alex Mercer was phenomenal. The attitude, the powers, the idea behind it all... majestic.
"They keep coming, I keep killing"
"They call me a monster, a killer, a terrorist... I'm all of these things. I'm gonna find out who did this to me, and I'm gonna make them pay".
The second game should have been about Pariah. The first game set him up so well... a tragic missed opportunity.
I hope Alex mercer returns
I hope he stays dead but kinda sorta exists as a taunting voice in James's head
@@hunn20004 he's not dead, the devs confirmed it a long while ago. Alex is blacklight itself, so long as Blacklight exists, he will always exist. P1 already confirmed Alex spreads Blacklight everywhere he goes, and in the comics he's traveled across the whole world. Meaning blacklight is seeped into every part of the world.

I still have hope for prototype series about comeback . When Microsoft annonced to completion of buying activision . There is one second of this trailer they showing us Alex Mercer. They still Remmember this IP ,
Imagine the beginning on prototype 3 they put you into the heller vs mercer battle (as mercer) and when heller consumes you a black screen fades then suddenly in a distance we see Alex mercer says “Pathetic” and go away from that scene and in over all game we get to see both characters story and play as them as well or may even introduce 3 protagonist.
As for the ending let’s just say the fight again Alex try na kill heller and vice versa then all of a sudden a blackwatch specie of some sort interfere between their fight and they gets united to defeat the specie and it’s whole army and for the cliff hanger just show a scene heller daughter’s corpse getting researched by the blackwatch (because of the DNA ofc).

alex's villain role in p2 could have been swapped with pariah greene's son implied in p1,
the "infect the world" mindset would fit cause its similar to greene, nothing would have changed much and alex could have returned as a protagonist in p2, maybe have heller as a side character like nero or raiden are to dante and snake from dmc and mg respectively
Prototype 2 remake, where Pariah is the villain, Heller is an unwilling test subject for a new version of Blacklight and Mercer is a vigilante and you can play in co-op

@@powerneed1023 pariah can't infect anyone with anything. One of the things that makes Pariah special is that he has mercers and Greene's powers, but they aren't virus based. He's something else entirely.
@@powerneed1023 think of mercer and pariah as this.
Mercer can access mutations instantly so long as he had the DNA for it, Pariah had access to every mutation imaginable, but it took time to access.
The implication being if mercer were to consume pariah, or vice versa, you would have a being that not only had access to every mutation ever imaginable, but could access it instantly. You are criminally undersubbed man. Keep at it!
I'll admit, at first I thought the whole "no hoodie up" sounded stupid, but actually seeing him there from behind (the angle you will see him the most from) I get it and I agree. He not only looks weirdly bulky, he looks messy. The hoodie is just this big lump and the high collar makes him look like he has his shoulders pulled up to his ears from non-stop stress. Which sucks because there are so many elements with potential cool factor that ends up clashing with each other.
i miss this edgy game and so does Infamous
A story I would like to see for the third one is because mercer is what he is , he's still present in Heler's psyche and there's this constant conflict in Heller to the point where he even uses Mercer's form sometimes.
prototype 3 or a remake of the first game needs to happen

@@cotocoyerakson8195he wasn't, he acted of his own accord. The comics confirm it.
They really did these games an injustice and what's worse is that they could easily start it up again but they just don't...
