  • Buy this instead: geni.us/bpLTA (aff). The Logitech G502 will go down in history along with the MX518 as being a legendary mouse. But is it because of the crippling hand related ailments it's going to cause in the future? Or is it a genuinely good mouse that deserves it's praise? What do you think, is the Logitech G502 still worth it? Let us know in the comments.

Weight is really a personal pref. Low weight mice is a more recent thing in the last 5 years or so and I've noticed that it came about the same time companies started to make quality soft mouse pads. However, soft pads usually have more friction than hard pads so I've always felt there was a correlation. I've always said a good low friction mouse pad negates any weight issues of a heavier mouse.

I have a G402, very similar to the G502, from day one, never got any problem with it. If it gets dirty I just clean it, Imagine that... The cable is not a problem at all, I have a lot of space in front of the mouse, never got problems with the button placement and I play a lot of FPS, I don't think that 120g (G502) or 109g (G402) is that heavy for a mouse, the rock that you tape on it is heavier and even though you could still move it...

it's a great mouse. I'm a pretty nervous shooter, I need slow sensitivity/dpi, and the weight is a plus for me. You can choose how fast to move your mouse. It's not like the weight of the mouse is hindering how fast you can move it, unless you're really weak lol. Mouse weight is the most overhyped attribute.

  • @Rikaisan
    @Rikaisan ปีที่แล้ว +3

Dude is so weak that he can't move more than 100g, lol
Nah, but being serious, I never understood the thing for lightweight mice, I personally prefer them heavier.
Bought the first ever 502 a few months after it came out and still use it to this day (currently needing a replacement because it has started to get that horrible greasy feeling even though I clean it daily and I am very careful with not having dirty hands near my electronics. The mouse is top tier, extremely versatile, there are games where the amount of buttons really do help a lot, like on CoD Zombies, since you have easy access to the usual d-pad functions on your mouse hand, also, for creative suite purposes the buttons have been a huuuge time saver for me, the scroll wheel is also something I love about the mouse. I don't think it's overrated, it just isn't for someone like you that just prefers something simple and light.

0:01 Because some of us lack the insane hand dexterity and actually NEED more than two side buttons. Care to take on Mongraal in Fortnite and show us how you'll humiliate him with his G402? I have 130, 115, 100, and 74 gram mice in my collection. I was at my peak with the 115 gram mouse believe it or not. I then switched to the 74 gram model but the software glitches out my audio and I can't be bothered to reinstall windows so I went back to the 100 gram option. I'm still learning to adapt to the 15 gram weight reduction.
Also, we're not always looking to spend money on the same mouse WITH THE SAME BUTTON CONFIGURATION AND NO MEANINGFUL EXTRA FEATURES OR INNOVATION. My perfect mouse would simply be the G604 in a 50 gram body. They make that happen and I'm buying it even if it was $300

I have a G502, and a Hero. The first one is far superior, from my perspective playing Darktide at the time I switched. I thought it'd be an upgrade and improve my capability, but it nerfed me. The first G502 is much smoother and accurate. The Hero, even at very low DPI settings, skips over a pixel at the slightest move of the mouse. As a result it's extremely difficult to get pinpoint long distance shots.
I spent a hundred pounds on the Razer Atlas tempered glass mousemat and like 50 for this Hero mouse thinking it was an upgrade, it's outrageous that it is fundamentally worse than the previous one in this crucial way.

It's terrible, once I get my new mouse probably next month...I'm literally throwing it in the trash, not even gonna bother with giving it away. If people think the weight of a mouse doesn't matter...it does, if you're using the mouse for 2-4 hours...the weight starts to become apparent...and you'll feel it on your wrist. I'm not a weak dude, I'm heavy into training calisthenics often...but I broke my wrist about a decade ago and I get wrist pains...this mouse sucks for that, and I'm realizing I need a light and easy mouse. Don't buy it...let Logitech just discontinue it, or... what I think they should do is just make a smaller and lighter version of it...I like the infinity scroll wheel and I think they should put it on other mice, and that's all I like about it, but the weight of it isn't worth that. I'm happily going back to a regular scroll wheel.

I mean I get why a super light mouse is a thing people like, but I don't get why normal weights ever became 'too heavy'. It's like 100grams your moving with your whole forearm and wrist, it's not a bloody deadlift. The super accuracy of lightweights is only really valuable to the super sweats who litterly play games as a job, people should realise they're not in an esports team and don't need micro advantages, it's like being worried over an anabolic cycle when you're not a top level bodybuilder on steroids.
If you have genuine issues with using 100 grams over an extended period of time, you either have a bad posture, using you're wrist too much instead of the forearm or alarmingly weak, which can all be Solved with a bit of knowledge and barebones exercise, and will also vastly improve your daily life as well as your gaming experiences.

Okay, i won't buy the G502. I'll buy the G502 X Plus, instead! It's better, and it pisses you off apparently, which is a bonus. Also, i use it for FPS, and I'm quite happy with it. Destiny 2, MWII, and many others. I love the functionality the extra buttons give.
    In D2:
the Sniper Button is remapped to uncharged melee
    G5 is grenade
    G4 is class ability
    G8 is charged melee
    G7 is finisher
    G9 is block
I've used this setup for over 4 years, with Corsair's G502 ripoff, the Dark Core Pro, and with the legendary G502 itself, both wired, and wireless. G502 is the best mouse I've ever used. And here's the kicker: i'm 28, and hands and wrists are just fine, so i don't know what you're on about.

This is my mouse. I bought it on a whim because I needed a mouse. I'm actually just getting back into PC gaming, life hit me upside the head hard and I had no time for gaming from 2012 to 2018. My last two mice before this one were a Razer Deathadder (2010) and a Logitech G9 (the original rusty looking one 2006?). Shows what an old man I am.
What I think about the 502 ? It's alright, I guess. I actually like the weight, I have always preferred heavier mice with a high sensitivity, I just wish the side buttons were a bit better as I enjoy binding something like grenades/throwables to those buttons for easy access. I am at least glad the settings can be saved to the mouse so I dont have to have the awful software running full time.
If I had to rate it... 7.5/10. Watching your reviews I am actually wondering if I would like a light mouse. Been using heavier mice all my life and it's what I know.

Plus i use the two keys above my thumb while in web browsers to go back and forth from the previous webpage. I use keys constantly. I'm wanting to buy a new mouse but finding it frustrating as the mice I'm interested in don't have the sniper key nor the two buttons above my thumb, only the most basic keys.

The next day when I wake up, the mouse feels heavy, to which I then now pop out the additional weights. pretty convenient if u ask me.

    I use G502 and G305.
The G502 is a VERY good mouse for productive use and games that don't aren't focused on aiming skills. The extra butons are very useful for web browsing and productive work. On my mouse, the sideways scrollwheel clicks are the back and forward buttons. The thumb side buttons are copy, paste and enter. The side buttons of left click are undo and redo.
The G305 is used for fps games and for portability. It's a great mouse for laptops and it turns off after 5 minutes of inactivity. But it turns on immediately if you move it, so it's seamless. The stock battery lasted more than 3 months of exclusive use (only started using G502 recently) and you can easily squeeze out 1 month of battery life out of a AAA battery. The stock feet are a bit annoying, as they have a small surface area, and can sort of dig into the mouse pad, increasing the friction resistance. Using a fingertip grip has fixed this issue.
Overall, G502 is an extremely good mouse for productivity and games that aren't competitive fps's.

Using the G402 from 2015, G502 from 2019 and G502X for a while, the primary charm is definitely the ergonomic layout of the mouse and its buttons. I'm not an 'ubermensch' playing and acing all FPS games. I play them casually where the limitations of my mouse is far exceeded by limitations of my skill.
The extra buttons are laid very thoughtfully and I can always bind and use them easily, unlike a MOBA focused mouse, like for example, corsair Scimitar Pro. The scimitar's buttons were unwieldy and a chore to accurately use, and has been a waste of money for me. G502 is therefore the best mouse to buy if you need extra buttons close by. The weight is welcome because I use a very high sensitivity and can reach any point in my screen with small-ish movements. Not ideal for FPS but that's not my thing anyway. The poor build of the wire bugs me but I've made my peace with it. Though I would be really happy if they changed that. But on a day to day basis, I never notice the wire, and have never felt annoyed at the nonexistence of a braided cable.
The only gripe I've had with the series of mice is that the gunk and grime accumulating in the crevices are a real issue, I wouldn't mind if they turned their 'transformer' aesthetic down for practicality. And I've had to replace the switches after a few years because they started doubleclicking. But G502X has optical switches which should alleviate the issue. Otherwise, great mouse so far, and definitely worth it.

Years ago I used to hang around with a guy who, hands down, was the best FPS player I ever came across. Be that IRL or online. Regardless of whether it was 1:1, DM or TDM he was wiping the floor with everyone. While people were talking about display response times, dpi sensitivities, how good a certain mouse was clicking... blah blah blah... he was perfectly comfortable with gaming on a 15" CRT monitor and two button PS/2 mouse.
