    As an industrial product designer, this is really impressive.
    The exposed PCB and having only one way to hold it makes it not an option for me, but the continued weight and geometry optimisations across the different versions have been just crazy to follow along.
    One thing I can offer advice on, is that since you're using 3D printing anyways, You should offer a left handed version as well, from what I've seen of the PCB and 3D model, it seems as simple as mirroring the shell, so might as well go the extra mile to not exclude any of the already very niche potential customers.
    Also, if your 3D printing partner offers that option, different colors of Nylon could be nice, especially if finalmouse can make different colors of PCBs to match the shell.

    • @travisc8406
      @travisc8406 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +3

      I agree it might be a great option! but if you were to make a left handed version you might have to flip the pcb as well because of the button placement which is a massive headache and much more work than simply mirroring the design

    • @ledocteur7701
      @ledocteur7701 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +5

      @@travisc8406 Unless I'm missing something, the button placement seems fully symmetrical, it's the shell that varies in height, but the actual contact with the buttons is at the same height and position on both side.
      And although the attachment arms to the PCB are shaped differently since they don't connect on the same spots of the shell, the PCB itself has fully symmetrical attachment points.

    In the "zeromouse" logo it looks like you are using ø, latin small letter o with stroke (U+00F8) used in for example the Norwegian & Danish language. More fitting would be to use the mathematical sign for empty set, Ø (U+2205). The stroke is supposed to be angled more upwards, often close to 60° for the mathematical sign.

    • @FullyChargedSRG
      @FullyChargedSRG 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@HeyNavi they don't have to be thumb buttons, my favourite side buttons are on the right side of my mouse and I hit the front one by squeezing in the knuckle of my ring finger and the back one by doing the same with my pinky - for the same reason of not compromising my movement grip which mostly comes from the tension between my thumb and middle finger.

      sometimes it can also be too light for some people. I switched from the g pro superlight to a sora v2 (39g) and it was too light. From my experience the sweetspot is around 50+g, like the viper v3 pro.

    • @incediumignis
      @incediumignis 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      based on my own testing after 60 grams there is pretty much no difference and you ought to focus on shape and comfort instead.

    • @gutterg0d
      @gutterg0d 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +20

      @@maggi98mw I get what you're trying to say, but it's not necessarily the whole truth. A tiny bit of Inertia evens out your movement, without it you rely entirely on your muscles to stop precisely at the right position and we're not robots with micrometer precision. You might be fine for a couple of years when you're in your prime, but as you get older it could affect your accuracy. At 20 grams, any inertia caused by the mouse will likely be negligible compared to what your hand provides, meaning there will be very little (if anything) to gain from going lower.

      A purely fingertip grip mouse, especially at that weight (19g) would result in immensely unstable and shaky aim. Counter aiming for side button actuation isn’t ideal and defeats the purpose for the most precise and direct mouse.

    Something I’ve thought of that I think would be interesting would be to integrate all of the mouse parts into a literal glove. The mouse switches would be on your finger tips and the pcb + sensor would be in your palm. This could also create functionality for side buttons since you’re no longer limited by a certain grip, where the “side” buttons could now be additional switches located on the tips of your pinky and ring fingers. Scrolling functionality would still be of the question, but there is likely some clever engineering that could go into adding that. All of this would make it so that you are wearing the mouse, therefore making it feel like a natural part of your body rather than an external implement that you’re constantly fighting to maintain control of.

    congrats on launching your own mouse. I like that Finalmouse is releasing the module as a stand-alone. I hope the community makes some STLs to go with the module since I really think we could have some really cool custom mice that way. SLS and SLA are isotropic materials when manufactured so from a structural standpoint This is going to be as strong as any injection molded Nylon part and maybe even stronger since you don't have stress from the part cooling unevenly during the injection process.

  • @drypeeks

    Super cool to see the progression of this mouse.
    I was a person who had a shipping issue (and then furthermore an email issue, I still blame Yahoo's mail search btw) and even with the delay (and easy fix since optimum's the goat), I would do it all again over and over if I had to.
    The old modkit version of the mouse is something I haven't stopped using daily. It's so comfortable and natural that I have even been using it as my work mouse. The weightlessness of the mouse can't really be experienced without...well, experiencing it firsthand.
    The fact that the mouse is finally getting it's full kit release is just unbelievable. All of the design tweaks to remove weight and make the grip more stable and comfortable, combined with proprietary (not sure of the right term) PCB, switches, and sensor is just unbelievable. I was worried at first when the plans of a standalone product was announced, as I knew how hard it would be to find good producers of the electronics, but FinalMouse collaborating is just unbelievable for everyone involved.
    Can't wait to buy one.

I guarantee some company could make a mouse that would be the new g-pro in popularity if they tried something new.

      It's not really competition if they're the one selling the product. With the mouse being now a complete package, having a finalmouse pcb and supported by the firmware, it really feels like the project has matured and reached a completely new dimension.
    I dont want to put words in your mouth or pretend i understand the emotions you could feel seeing your project bear fruits like that, but as a viewer of this channel for quite some time, seeing it evolve like that and reach maturity in such a way kinda puts me at a loss for words and forces respect, and i'm glad i have been able to follow this journey from the sidelines.
