      @@PlanetautoUK unfortunately, if I go electric I think the furthest I'll be going is mg4 in the equivalent of trophy trim. Times are hard. I bought a Passat in 2018 here in Ireland, it was the top spec model with dsg for 41000 and I put 9,000 worth of extras on it. That was 50,000 euro. Not sure in sterling. Now, I barely have 35,000! Maybe I'll keep Passat longer, as it is so high spec. I even have a massaging drivers seat and heated rear seats! I just know diesel won't be worth much soon. Thanks Ben and Annabelle, or should that be Annabelle and Ben? Who's the boss? 🤣🤣🤣

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We used to have a diesel too - it’ll be interesting to see what happens, keep hold is what we’d do, especially with such a spec. MG4 is exceptional however eleci prices aren’t particularly great, especially public charging … you’ll have to ask the Mrs 🤫 thank you Daniel

    I see there is no P position on the auto selectors only D N R. I guess that means you have to depend solely on the handbrake. Not a good idea when parked on steep hills. Most autos have P which locks the transmission so the car will not move even with the handbrake off.
    The Smart cars auto box (automated manual) had to be left in Reverse when parked which did the same job as P as it locked the transmission, so if you press R and turn the key off in the Ami will that lock the transmission?
    Also i guess the car does not have remote locking with a remote fob blipper, so the doors have to be locked separately.
    Finally it looks like the charge cable could be lost inside the opening if it falls down the recess. I think that would be hard to retrieve.
    I can just imagine the reaction you get from the bully boys in town in Range Rovers and Vans probably 4 inches from your rear end or pulling out in front of you from side roads. You would have to drive the car as if you were riding a motorbike constantly on then look out for clowns, but without the speed of a motorbike.

    • @PlanetautoUK
      @PlanetautoUK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mr david - we will reach out to Citroen to ask about it being left in reverse. We had two hours with this model through the Northern Group of Motoring Writers, so only had time to cover so much, and we don't have a connection at Citroen, so it may take us some time to get back to you. Apologies. *A

    This is a very good review. I enjoyed
    It. I love watching videos on this car, I even subscribed to a dedicated TH-cam channel for the Ami. They seem to love the car very much too. I love how it’s cleverly made to save money but in a fun way. I think my father should buy one, to save using his x6 going into town for shopping. It will be much safer than his electric bike. What are these going for on the used uk market? Cheers.

    Well Annabelle answer to your question: yeah & no...positives 1st: Typical 'eccentric' Citroen. I remember the 2cv & it has shades of its own distinct being. the car will definitely divide opinion. I think it looks very very 'cute' 💗 ♥ & the running costs in this day n age will be minimal. Now the negatives are i think the very big glass area in summertime when it does get quite warm/ hot at times will make the interior like a greenhouse & should imagine very uncomfortable..the other issue is only 28mph which is fine in town/city driving but out on open road the 'tailgating' brigade will have opportunity to vent there frustration..the best thing to do is pull in at the side of the road & let any build up of traffic go past. I take my hat off to Citroen for designing something 'different' & would gladly have one for a short while before returning to say a 2nd hand Aygo/C1/108...one of the best reviews I've watched planet auto 🚘 excellent..been looking forward to this & have enjoyed viewing 👌

  •  ปีที่แล้ว

    We could save a lot, a lot of energy! If many more cars worldwide were so light. The Ami is ideal for buying 2..3 liters of milk, bread and eggs, and possibly spaghetti. We should not drive around with car bodies that weigh 1...2 tons. The designers of the Citroën Ami have studied physics well!

We’re interested in which EV’s you could get for this price, possibly a seriously battery degraded Leaf and maybe a Twizy if you can find one, it’d be perfect as city delivery dropper as well as say on Goodwood estate or similar - Thank you for your views Julian.

      When you need a full license to drive it in UK. That makes the market of interest smaller, compared to continental Europe, where a limited license is possible to drive it from 14 or 16.
      Making a LHD for would be more expensive considering it would be a small market.
