Great video and truly enthralling life in the slow lane 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Life doesn’t change in over 40 years. Let me explain. Back in 1981 I had to choose between a Fiat Panda and a 2CV. Yes I realise not top end choices, but the Panda won out as it accelerated faster onto the local death trap roundabout. But to bring it back to your problems, the Fiat Panda was recalled after 6 months of ownership to retro fit (wait for it) inner plastic mudguards…. Yep, god bless the Italians they realised without the inner guards the car would rust to pieces. Final note - it did rust to bits. It lasted 4 years and 65,000 miles and then fell apart. And that was on the salty south coast of England rather than the warm and salty south of France. Keep up the great work chaps. You are a breath of fresh air 🤓👍🏻

Hi Guys. Do you have the recall number/reference or the part numbers of the pieces they replaced -- both the wheel bits and the lock bits? I don't have these wheel parts and am being told that there is no recall. On a side note and Public Service Announcement, I have been told by Citroen that there is a recall on a 'sticker' for the VIN number as something is incorrect. They gave me no further info, except that mine is on order. Curiously my VIN does not show any results on either the Spanish or French Citroen recall website --- perhaps because the VIN is wrong (hence the recall!). My Ami: In Spain, Manufactured: 29/MAR/21, Delivered: 17/AUG/21.
You had some decent rain. You lucky sods. I live in East anglia, Norwich. It is the driest area of England and we haven't had any decent rainfall since last winter. We had half an hour of not even drizel but I went out in it and it was wonderful. I can't wait for a proper downpour.
Good to see it's not only the UK we're you wait and wait lol, good video as usual and like the look of the place, apart from Parc Phoenix by the looks of it 😂

Great video! I’m actually considering buying one of these for the business. I’m actually on holiday atm in Nice and i’ve only seen one in Marseille today! Would love to take a look. ☺️
Hello from (moderately) sunny Cornwall where I've been binge-watching your stuff (beats Breaking Bad) and having a great laugh doing so. I'm not gay, but I do love your cheeky double entendres (doggers for Dogwalkers, seeding the passage etc) You're quite the Celeb Mr Fountain, whereas OTOH Mr Boo is a man of mystery. I chuckle when you worry about 28mph not being fast enough, because the car of choice here is a 15 year old Nissan Micra that has probably never reached the dizzy heights of 28mph. If one did, there would be discontent in the Council Chamber (I'm sure there's a joke there somewhere) Anyhow, keep 'em coming boys (now that IS a double entendre...) Toodle pip.
I've got a same recall letter from citroen, but Italian written. My door opened while driving and I wrote a hard email to support. Did you got the right fuse spares? Cheers from Italy
I'm relieved to know you fellas won't be flying out the doors! Pare boue's is a much classier term than mud flaps.I think I'll say that from now on. Enjoy your pareboue's! Love from Vermont
Oh. I saw you drive around in Nice with a small car and that made me curious; there is a small street there called "Av. Gay Prolongée" and somewhere there in a villa shall one famous artist Patrick Moya have a studio, it is a very narrow 'street' and it would be fun to see you navigate the Ami in such narrow areas, and maybe be able to visit the studio. Moya is famous for charity and that he was a "Metaverse artist" 15 years before the term become popular by have a virtual studio and land in Second Life, maybe you can get a tour and also make some Second Life users happy. And your vidos are very inspirational and I want a Ami now, I live in Sweden where it can be could, but I have biked even in the winter, but age and a knee injurie (biking related at spring) have forced me to look for other ways get around, and a un-isolatet car would work well for me.

@@MeandMonAmi Not a good service!! I mean you had to go there because they made an error... Asking you to come that early, they should have at least provided a great service 🤔
@@MeandMonAmi I think you have to test what’s suitable - if you ever want to go off road, there are places you could go with Elton that are unsuitable for cars, like narrow trails. What places in the Riviera are off limits with the stock tires you have?
Are you two really just casing the joint for some Ian McShane in "Sewers of Gold " style Riviera caper and the small car is big enough to drive in the sewer, accessed through the multi storey.
Cracking video, editing and superb presentation. It shows this liitle car in the exact context of everyday use it was designed for. Citroen must be as pleased as punch by this sort of coverage. The car looked really at home in Nice, even if it was a bit rainy. With Climate change lifting parts of the UK climate I think it would work as an all-year-rounder in the South of the Country and if they did an extended wheelbase version, with uprated power (40-50bhp - think FIAT 500 microbus of old) a bit more range (Sufficient for a week's worth of 10 mile each way commutes) and a modicum of crash protection, I think I'd be sold - 'cause city driving, even in London, isn't always done at sub 10 Mph - ocassionally you may want to travel on a peripherique such as the M25 or a faster urban dual carriagewayn for part of the journey.
@@MeandMonAmiLive in the center of Amsterdam, bikes are the only way to go, have an e-bike already 6 years (Riese&Muller Tinker) .. you can see me biking on my channel, but I did not edit or publish the videos yet , thank you that you found time to write to me.. like to see your adventures.
Not a recall over the frequent differential failures then? I wonder if they've sorted that yet, and the lack of spares problem regarding differentials.
For a recall, the free repair was inconsequential. I would have replaced the passenger side door with a suicide one because I like Citroen 2CV look and they should have made them both to open in the same direction.
@@MeandMonAmi I think its the same door positioned differently on the passenger side you would just need to move the hinge to correspond with it on the driver side. Citroen made everything identical to reduce the cost and the rear of the car follows the shape of the front.
@@NormanF62 that’s not how it works, there is only one door produced with the handle on the left as you look at it and the hinge on the right. So it has to open opposites on each side
Great video, I researched this issue before I ordered a uk one, amis made before sept 2021 I think it effects, 1. no inner wheel arch guards causing lock barrel sticking issues 2. Water ingress in roof, extra seals needed 3. No diffuser in front air vents to spread the air over windscreens Some owners invented 3D printable plastic covers to stick over the lock mechanism in the wheel arch to protect it as well as diffusers that push in the dash air vents

My Ami: In Spain, Manufactured: 29/MAR/21, Delivered: 17/AUG/21.
I don’t but tomorrow I will try to remember to photograph the arch with a sticker on!
You had some decent rain. You lucky sods. I live in East anglia, Norwich. It is the driest area of England and we haven't had any decent rainfall since last winter. We had half an hour of not even drizel but I went out in it and it was wonderful. I can't wait for a proper downpour.
To be fair it was one of about four cloudbursts this year (from memory). Still facing drought..
Those screech noises are giving me a panic attack haha
Hi do you think there is any way you can remap this car to make it go faster , remapping is fiddling with the electronics .🚗
I’m sure someone will I’ve certainly seen a video with it doing 70 unbridled
Congratulations for the deluge (yay!) when everywhere else is in drought!
I don’t think it will solve our drought sadly!
Well done guys 👍🇬🇧
Thanks
Impressive bypass of the innuendo opportunity 🤣

Mr K Williams would love it 🤣
Good to see it's not only the UK we're you wait and wait lol, good video as usual and like the look of the place, apart from Parc Phoenix by the looks of it 😂
Thanks Ian. It may have improved since we were there.. (!)
Dark clouds over the Mother in laws Priceless.
I like to keep the humour current!;
Tell you what that Citroen dealership is a slick looking operation. At least you weren’t kept waiting until the end of the day which is what happens to me usually!
Ultimately we were happy but you can only spend so long in a shopping centre doing nowt!
The option to buy you a coffee is not showing up, I thought you might need to know this.
It’s in the description below the video
Great video! I’m actually considering buying one of these for the business. I’m actually on holiday atm in Nice and i’ve only seen one in Marseille today! Would love to take a look.
☺️
Thanks. Pop into the Darty just off Jean Médecin they have one in the shop you can get in and out of etc
@@MeandMonAmi Thank you ! I went to see it, much bigger than I thought as I have a Twizy atm. Keep up the content! 😊
@@LEvans2k6 There is way more room inside than you expect and more comfortable for two than the Twizzy I would have thought?
@@MeandMonAmi Yes and it would suit the Irish weather better 😂 The Twizy lacks windows haha 😅
Thanks. Glad you are enjoying. I’m a child of Carry on I fear!
I've got a same recall letter from citroen, but Italian written.
My door opened while driving and I wrote a hard email to support.
Did you got the right fuse spares?
Cheers from Italy
No not yet but we must! (Too busy editing to keep the actual show on the road!)
We have a friend here in Charente Maritime who doesn’t hold a drivers license of any kind,French or English so could she still buy or lease the Ami?
Yup
@@MeandMonAmi many thanks
I'm relieved to know you fellas won't be flying out the doors! Pare boue's is a much classier term than mud flaps.I think I'll say that from now on. Enjoy your pareboue's! Love from Vermont
Thanks Rebekah. Mr Pareboue agrees!
Thank you. We know Moyà’s work quite well. It would be great to visit
Bonjour, vos vidéos sont intéressantes, dommage que nous n'ayons pas tout le temps la traduction en français ! Bonne continuation dans vos aventures avec la Citroën ami et bonne route . 😊😎👍
sadly it costs too much and takes too long to do it for every video. Maybe AI might come to our rescue soon!
thanks
Didn’t you miss our soppy music on this one?;
It was quite funny hearing someone talking about len floor-cloth after all these years ‘
Word on the street is he was caught fiddling at a swimming baths near derby !
PS I hope that these little motors take off ……. 🤷🏼♂️ 🇬🇧.
I’m glad you appreciated it Peter. All in the best possible taste etc!
Well, you've convinced me, I¨m getting an Ami too. Unfortunately, not yet sold in my area :(
Where are you?

I keep trying to get him to buy a new one;
Knowing how you both promote their Ami, I'd of thought the dealership would have closed for the day to allow you their full red-carpet treatment🙂
Ha. Didn’t quite work out that way!
Love your videos guys and your AMI i would buy one but unfortunately won't be available in Australia.
Thanks Jimbo. What a shame.. I’m sure some Chinese micro cars might make their way to you?
Did they charge the car during the maintenance?
Nope
@@MeandMonAmi Not a good service!! I mean you had to go there because they made an error...
Asking you to come that early, they should have at least provided a great service 🤔
I hope you guys are going to swap out the tires at some point for all terrain tires. Elton could use them.
Maybe. Would they reduce range?
@@MeandMonAmi I think you have to test what’s suitable - if you ever want to go off road, there are places you could go with Elton that are unsuitable for cars, like narrow trails. What places in the Riviera are off limits with the stock tires you have?
Could you show more about where to charge cheaply or for free in southern France ?? And what apps to use
I can Chris. I think we’ve shown it at various stages in past videos but maybe a dedicated one is due!
@@MeandMonAmi thank you love the ami videos and videos about the small villages you do - visit southern France regularly - Cabris/Grasse area❤️👍👍👍👍
Are you two really just casing the joint for some Ian McShane in "Sewers of Gold " style Riviera caper and the small car is big enough to drive in the sewer, accessed through the multi storey.
Now that’s a plot!
Thanks Nicholas. Check out some of our other sunnier videos. We take it to some quite extreme places
Did it need a new innersole?
I did wonder if those doors could be take off in Summer.
I think they could
Regarding cooling in the ami
You could always get a “y” section from the diy store to save cutting 2 holes in the roof Yours sincerely. Barnes Wallace. :-)

Not a recall over the frequent differential failures then? I wonder if they've sorted that yet, and the lack of spares problem regarding differentials.
Whats this all about?
There's always one....
For a recall, the free repair was inconsequential. I would have replaced the passenger side door with a suicide one because I like Citroen 2CV look and they should have made them both to open in the same direction.
Wouldn’t that mean they would have had to produce two different doors?
@@MeandMonAmi I think its the same door positioned differently on the passenger side you would just need to move the hinge to correspond with it on the driver side. Citroen made everything identical to reduce the cost and the rear of the car follows the shape of the front.
@@NormanF62 that’s not how it works, there is only one door produced with the handle on the left as you look at it and the hinge on the right. So it has to open opposites on each side
How long do you think the plastic will last?
Dunno. Depends how strong it is I guess?!
Nice speaking French. From a French person.
Mr Boo!
Great video, I researched this issue before I ordered a uk one, amis made before sept 2021 I think it effects,
1. no inner wheel arch guards causing lock barrel sticking issues
2. Water ingress in roof, extra seals needed
3. No diffuser in front air vents to spread the air over windscreens
Some owners invented 3D printable plastic covers to stick over the lock mechanism in the wheel arch to protect it as well as diffusers that push in the dash air vents
Thanks. We took delivery in Nov so ours prob manufactured before then
Couldn't they have lent you a replacement car while you were waiting?
Wasn’t offered.
Tim not sure how pass on this, Joanna Lumley has a new tv doco here about cities she visits. In Rome she visits an amazing cemetery thats just for non-RC people. Famous poets etc, one sadly beautiful statue and a 2000 year old pyramid.
