I've honestly never understood exactly how different EQs work like compression and what not and you broke it down so perfectly. Excellent video as always. Also, nice nails
I honestly believe upgrading from a low-mid level mic to the Beacn Mic is better than upgrading to the Shure SM7B would love to see other peoples thoughts on this!
I spent some time chasing a low frequency hum as well. Even though my mic was internally shock mounted, adding a traditional shock mount to it still helped. Then bam, no more resonant frequency getting picked up.
There were software issues at first with my BEACN mix create when I got it back in March, totally rocking with no issues anymore :) Customer service on Discord is incredible!! I went ahead and made the plunge and got my BEACN mic delivered 3 days ago, and OMG this thing is AMAZING!! its a little daunting on the overall capability, but when you get it dialed in on the software its is AWESOME!!
Heyo! Great tutorial. For it being quiet after making all your adjustments just make sure in the compression tab to set your make-up gain back up! That way you don't have to raise the output level on the end. I edit dialog for work and compression make up gain is one of the things that many people miss :)
@@DKTD23 I’m sorry I never saw this! The makeup gain is in the plug in you use for compression. It’s the output knob of the plug in. For example you set a threshold on your compressor and when you talk you can see if it ducks your audio -3 dB or -6db so then the makeup gain knob should match that but in the positive values. Makeup gain would be +3 or +6 etc etc.
i dropped down to the comment section to complain about you having the light in the camera but as i began to type you fixed it 😂. Thanks for all the help with the production of my channel and for the tips on what equipment to buy in the future!!
Harris, you lovely man. Thank you for this video and for continuing to be there for all streamers. I've got my BEACN Mic and Mix Create working and sounding just lovely now. Take care! 🤩
Excellent tutorial! This isn't just helpful for this mic, but for audio mixing software in general. Would love this mic eventually, but don't have a slouch of a USB mic as it is, so won't be for a while probably. Already had some knowledge and experience messing with audio, and these reminders were still helpful to me. Thank you.
I haven't finished watching yet but thanks to you, I have been able to upgrade my camera and sound. Looking to do another upgrade because the el-cheapo mic I got for 50 sounds great but there's not enough tweaking I can do. Sad that the beacn mic is sold out but I hope they restock soon! I have watched all your videos. You're my favorite channel for sure!
On their twitter page they mentioned that they are expecting a restock in about two weeks. I am waiting for the restock as well to get mine. Just make sure not to miss it :)
Great video Boss. Always go to your channel for info on tech. Great stuff! Think setup sounds great. Getting to the point of needing a new mic and i've been looking at this.
Harris, it is interesting that this mic has some of the "moustache" EQ baked in. The Deity mics also seem to have this from their sound, but no one seems capable of looking at the frequency responses of popular mics. If only there was someone with the expertise and ability to publish a video doing just that...
There is one hundred and thirty two billion four hundred million six hundred twelve thousand and forty eight videos on that exact subject on you tube. Microphones are an art form that stretches slightly beyond gaming and streaming. There are microphones costing 10s of thousands of dollars that make grown sound engineers cry just hearing the beauty of someone speaking in to them. And those are just the better copies of the even better originals. The most minute differences between every well known microphone have books written about them.
Bought the Beacn after your review. Love it. Reduced my post edit time by 75% and sounds way better. I have so many issues due to a deviated septum and braces. The app makes it possible to fine tune as needed due to the display. Thanks for the tutorials.
thanks for all your videos since last year i bought all the equipment youve listed, the wave xlr, the shure sm7b even the stream deck sony a7iii with the cam link and much more i've seen on your page, ive got some pretty good ides on the content im making and how to stand out and now that ive invested this much i cant wait to finally stream tonight, im doing it mainly to have fun with people who love interacting with a community and the person running it, so i just want the people who end up viewing my stream can view it in a medium to high quality, so thanks for recommending which tools i can use and amazing tutorials on how to work each of my instruments
i appreciate the video, lots of effort put into it. But the title is slightly misleading, since its not really a how to, but more a showcase of a product and HOW it makes your voice sound perfect :P is there any video out there taking care of some more general sense of audio tuning? what to look for other then just the "add a compression filter and a noise gate" kind of tutorials?
Not going to buy a beacon but it was good to hear a producer's opinion on how to compress spoken word vocals. I have to do this at my church and it was a good review.
I really want to show this my streamer friends are considering dropping $1000 on a Shure SM7B + GoXLR setup. This is a setup with MORE functionality and almost half the cost. Great video!
Harris, I know this would be a LOT of work, but how would you feel about making a video that shows different ways to organize your stream setup? Starting with a desk with nothing on it and setting up in different layouts?
The ONLY complaint I have about these reviews is that NO ONE mentioned that the mic app wasn't available for Mac. My wife got the mic in order to be able to use it with her Mac for podcasting and I have to set this up for her. So anyone considering this for your Mac computer, know that you will need to set up the app on a PC and the software then saves it to the microphone. Then you can transfer the mic over to the Mac and continue using it there. Hopefully some day they will consider pro Mac users as well. Not everyone is a PC gamer like me!
PLEASE HELP! I need a solid microphone only for livestreaming, but I am torn between getting the sm7b and this beacn mic. I have no budget, but my only issue is I tend to talk louder/scream alot when playing games, so I'm not sure what one would do the job better. I am still kinda new to microphones, but excited to learn more. Any advice would be amazing and appreciated. Keep on staying positive and amazing! Thanks, Kyle 🤩
still a missed opportunity to not have the cables in the back terminate in an angle connector. seems easy to rip off when adjusting the angle of the mic. fortunately aftermarket ones can be bought, but still would be nice to have. the sm7b can also still rotate when locked down as long as you don't bottom out the threads.
That cutting of a microphone frequency would be perfect for me. My microphone picks up the high pitched sound of my CRT TV and I have to move the microphone further away to lessen it but the GoXLR doesn't have enough refinement to cut it out.
I guess I am completely blind about your description. I do not see the link for the product. I see the tutorial link and tons of other links, but not the most significant of all, the product link. All good that is what Google is for.
I'm seriously considering sellling my GoXLR/ xlr mic setup and switching over to a beacn setup JUST so i can use my corsair wireless headset again. Right now my headphone has an aux plugged into it.
How many of you came down here to leave a comment about my fingernails.. checkmate
me
1 Minute in and I find myself finger tracking... LOL
Same. You got me. :)
yep
Cute how you color matched your nails to the mic!
I've honestly never understood exactly how different EQs work like compression and what not and you broke it down so perfectly. Excellent video as always. Also, nice nails
This man is truly the audio goat as a streamer you appreciate audio and video quality so much as you upgrade your set up. Appreciate you bro 🔥
This. I honestly didn't care about my audio at all until I started getting into it. Now I'm an audio snob to all my friends. lmao
Can't wait for Beacn to get these mics back in stock. I picked up the Mix Create after seeing it on a previous video. Keep it up!
Thank you! Just got this due to you using till this day. And I wanted simplicity. I appreciate it!
Love your content you have been so helpful since I started my journey 3 years ago!

You're an absolute hero amongst small creators with what you do for the community. My BEACN is on the way and pumped to set it up!

Just got this mic today - What is the make-up gain level to go up to? it's at 0 by default.

the ceiling looks so good omg and nice nails :)
The amount of times I’ve watched the Beacn Mix Create video before and after I bought it…. I been waiting for this one 🙌🏼
Just ordered mine, so excited!
I really appreciate what you do here Harris. This channel has been a god send for me and many others, I am sure lol
Can't get past how smooth that transition is
Lets goooooo new absolutely amazing banger is out!!
I was lucky enough to pick this up right when you made your first video, amazing mic this is
Thanks for the tutorial! I can't wait for it to come back in stock, hopefully next week

Picked up this microphone today. Can't wait to try it out. It's been really fun to mess with so far.
also its dynamic so speak close to it
Constantly find myself coming back to this video its soo good
Looks for mic, came across the usb mics video you did, purchased beacn mic, watched video to get perfect voice input, success
Been looking forward to this! Got my Beacn mic before they sold out and am excited to learn about more of the settings
On the wait list for this mic currently can’t wait to get my hands on this thing
this is what i have been looking for man , thank you
That De-Esser and Exciter plugin sounds fantastic. I have to cut out a lot of my high ends just to get rid of those horrible S's.
Great video Boss. Always go to your channel for info on tech. Great stuff! Think setup sounds great. Getting to the point of needing a new mic and i've been looking at this.
Thanks again, Harris. Always quality content.
Great tutorial, i am using simple gears for my gaming channel, learning and growing everyday. Good luck to all gamers and content creators.
i really wanted to get thee procaster and was saving up for long time, and now that beacn dropped, saves me allot of money to get what i need.
The expander is exactly a gate on a more pro setup, all allow for different threshold amounts and release times. Very cool microphone for a good price

Your nail polish looks awesome
This is my next Mic thank you!!!
EposVox just shat on the BEACN mic. Would be interesting to watch a video with your comment on what he found.
Just received mine. Tried it out with a quick and dirty setup. Sounds good. I can't comprehend how EposVox managed to sound so bad.
That record button will make it so much better. I also used audacity for that.
Tries to learn about compressors, gets a commercial for beacn
Fingernails looking fresh af! looks good 💅
Mic anthrazit- blue, the Software anthrazit- blue, nails anthrazit - blue. Dayum THATS dedication.
Can u make a tutorial for the Beacn mic with the GoXLR

I have to say, you've been much better to this mic than another "Vox" vlogger. Seriously, I always tweak my mics before I use them.
I currently have an sm7b and goxlr, but this software makes it tempting to switch.
I have one question...did you mean to have your fingernails match the color of the mic? lol great content as always!

I have the blue compass boom arm for my microphone, I love it.
Genius move.
❌🫵🏻😎👍🏻❌ I use a Sure SM7B into a Cloudlifter into RodeCaster Pro for my mixing and Adobe Audition as my DAW
WOW - that sounded so much better.
Loved your video as always, but distracted by your nail polish lol.
they jsut came back and stock and I just got the mix create and the mic... I already have the go xlr... and no financial sense

The beacn mic is basically impossible to clip when screaming, I know that

One of the 1st things I did when I got an XLR mic was the proper angle XLR cable 🤣👍🏼
One ring to rule them all! ;)
what do you think about what @EposVox the stream professor said about the mic that it is a bad mic ??
That cutting of a microphone frequency would be perfect for me. My microphone picks up the high pitched sound of my CRT TV and I have to move the microphone further away to lessen it but the GoXLR doesn't have enough refinement to cut it out.

aaggghhhh i really want this mic but i live in Italy! They only ship in US!!
Hey Harris. I was wondering if you saw EposVox' video on the Beacon Mic?
I was wondering about your thoughts on it.
^ this
I thought this was an actual video on how to make my mic now sound perfect not an ad for another mic...
Great video as always, EXTREMELY informational! I wanted to ask what that boom arm that is that you're using in this video.
When is Beacon going to have a presence in the UK? I would like to buy their products but can't yet..
Ice been waiting for people to videos on this mic can you do one on the fifine t683

What boom arm was that at the very start of the video?
