69 dBs is insane. A lot of top of the line consoles do NOT have 69dBs and stop at 65!!! And it does sound very legit! The difference between it working or not make it sounds like a gate on harder settings because of how much more dynamics are boosted when the signal reach a certain threshold.

an expander is actually a reverse compressor hence the name. you set a threshhold when the expander will push the volume up. for controlling a vocal this works well in tandem with a compressor, you set a low point to push up and then you can put a compressor to push down so theyre both keeping the signal in a middle level. when your quiet it turns you up, when your loud it turns you down

I think it would be incredible if that Beacn Link came to like an iPad app and you could use that second USB C port for your iPad as an alternative to a 2nd PC. Definitely thinking of picking this up and replacing my GoXLR with this as I already have the Beacn Mix Create.
I;m curious. If you would choose between Elgato gear or Beacn gear. What would you choose and what would be the strengths and weaknesses of each ecosystem?
By any chance can you control the volume parameters of their audio software with a Midi controller? I use Voicemeter Potato with a DJTechTools MidiFighter Twister, and if I could use something like this over voicemeter honestly it'd be amazing. (I actually really like voicemeter, but the mic filters and features seem amazing)
Does it work well with El Gato softwares? I have a stream deck pro, but am looking for an audio interface for my XLR. Would I be better to get this or just go for the Elgato XLR interface?
I feel you about the aesthetic of your desk! 😂 priorities bro! 🙌🏼 by the way as an Audio Engineer music producer the plug-ins that come with Beacon are top-notch! The ease of use factor alone is why I would get this as a new streamer. I have the Apollo Twin X and its a professional version of Beacon studio. Hey Harris ! I have a question.. I’m very intrigued by this device seeing as I am a dual PC streamer I use the rodecaster pro 2 , but a lot of these features for a dual PC streamer have me super interested. My question is can I use it with a stream deck or stream deck plus ?
I love being here because Harris is a regular guy (Like the information is fabulous and well presented too) But The Desk aesthetic ABSOLUTELY matters though, and he gets this, I love that.
Did you see the GoXLR had a update coming out and they said when the Software Side of it is Feature Complete with what they are wanting to add they are going to work on GoXLR 2 way way way down the line for that one though
You mentioned duel pc and console setup but in the video did you cut that part in post? This has always been a huge issue for me always having to use all sorts of extra cables etc. with the PS5. I finally found a setup where I use a HD to Optical from Best Buy which takes the signal from PS5 and goes into my GOxlr Mini and PC but still its not perfect. I would love to see Beacn cook and figure out this situation if they have not already.
If anyone could help me set this up for dual pc streaming I need help. I can’t get the game audio to my stream pc but I can get my mic audio to my stream pc
Ok so question for Harris/anyone with a mac, would you be able to use a mac + Windows PC in combo with this? For instance, could you have your windows gaming PC and use the Mac as the streaming PC or does the Beacn link app only work with both devices running the same OS?
Expanders and gates are the same thing. The reason you'd even distinguish it is that if you don't alter the output volume, a gate would turn the sound down when the signsl is below the threshold, while an expander turns it up when it's above the threshold. If you turn the output volume down after an expander you now have a gate. The reqson this expander is so good is likely just because they have good hysteresis and attack/decay settings, as well as probably a lower "release" threshold.
how do you get rid of that buzzing? i currently use the SM7B and Wave XLR. I've many different solutions and all have failed. If anyone can help, it'd be greatly appreciated! 🙏
The only thing I can think to ask is how does this all compare to the GoXLR and what it offers? Even though support from the company has been discontinued, creators still vehemently swear by it and still pick it up over other options if theirs breaks and they need a replacement. The BEACN Studio actually looks like a great solution and insanely helpful for 2-PC setup creators but I'm just wondering on how all these different devices stand vs each other at the end of the day
on a side note, I'm looking for a longer cable for my Logitech Brio 4K, 2 metres just isnt enough really need 3, but want to maintain 60fps at FHD. what have people used?
now i have a question. do you think they will redesign the Beacn Mix or hell even the Beacn mic to have the Linked functionality. because i use a Beacn Mic already and Beacn mic Create and dont have a need for the Studio device. and to have that same link function without having to add a basically useless extra device to my desk would be Dope. sure id have to replace one of them (most likely the Mix) but i personally think that's better than adding an extra device to my desk that i would only use half of that devices functions for. hope im not the only one wondering this
@senpai what if you pluged the streamdeck + with the USB hub into the 2nd pc port of the beacn studio would that allow you to have the beacn processing still controlled through the elgato interface?
Just putting a dream list together for a first PC setup and not sure if im just being a greedy goblin going for the Studio, the Mix Create and the Streamdeck + usb hub... Pretty sure the deck will do most of what i'd use the mix create unit for anyway with some hotkey tweaking
Question: I currently have the Elgato Wave XLR (Input)(Mic Shure MV7), and I hear a super small delay in the audio (myself) when I am plugged directly into the Wave XLR or my normal headphone amp (Topping DX9). It drives me crazy! I am wondering if the new BEACN Studio fixes this issue. Great Video!
Hey Harris! I've just bought a Beacn studio and i love it but i think it might be time to upgrade my headset, id like to get the SteelSeries wireless ones but I'm unsure how I would go about setting that up. i think a video showing how to properly set up headphones like that with mic monitoring using the Beacn studio would be super appreciated by the community, i cant find any real info on it no matter where i look. thank you! love the content.
WOW, this is exactly what I was looking for. I am so tired of having too much stuff on my desk. And this is just the solution. I have already put my name on the waiting list. hopefully, it gets released very soon. Finally a great and compact solution!
Does this work stand alone in other words will the changes you make will it be saved to the device ready to work while using it as a mixer on console without a PC ?
With the 2 pc thing, I need to know to solidify my purchase here, is it just other pc's? Could it be connected to a console for example, as that seems to me a massive issue for loads of people, and there are weird workarounds but this could be the best one if it can. And another along side that, if it can, do you need to have the pc on as well?
How can you handle Line In and out? I have audio coming from my switch into the go XLR, and line out going to my speakers. I'd just need to use the ins/outs on my motherboard right?
Ok so how would this work in my current setup. I use an external dac amp for my headphones and just a usb mic. I'll get a new mic for the xlr but is there a way to incorperate this with my current dac amp to use mic listening with it? Or just treat this as a separate system and not use that feature at all.
I really wish you would check out the Roland Bridge Cast and give us your thoughts on it. I've been using mine for a few months and I don't know how I lived without it!
I got a Beacn mix create a month ago and getting my Rode USB podmic to sound good, was a pain because I would need to do the processing through an external app. Since the mic still has an XLR output, this solves all my problems. And it's perfect because I think the processing Beacn offers is the best out there
I just got a second hand GoXLR for cheap and I really like it, has submixes too, so okay for now. But this thing is so much smaller and I would love to try the expander in it, because that’s one of the GoXLR’s worst things. Love the videos! Keep it up!
Personally I want something with wide i/o and routing options than present here. I just want a lot of inputs i can mix and route to discord, obs, and headphones very uniquely, and part of that is the inputs to make all of those agree and show up in a routing table, whether voicemeeter or something specific to the hardware I'm using, or a mix of the two
Does this eliminate the delay in mic monitoring if I am using an external dac? I tried using the beacn mix create with goxlr before but there is a delay when monitoring my mic that way.
So do they have an XLR mic coming? The software looks good but Elgato Wave Link does a lot of that. I'm using free ReaPlugs and Renegate but like you said, that runs off your PC. I need to get off my old school Yeti but I've gotten really good sound. I add some additional eq, noise filtering etc in post.
The buzz is pretty common and sounds just like a ground isolation fault. The best way to deal with this is to not use equipment which fails to isolate ground, including the USB connection.
The two PC setup features do everything I wish my Rodecaster Duo would do. I'm also tired of waiting for Rode to give us more control over channels, I still can't separate my music from system
Whenever I open OBS I get audio distortion, it's a like 2 mili second crackle/distortion every 30 seconds, on the mic. I can't figure out why, and it's ONLY when I open OBS. Which obviously is a problem. Anyone have any idea?
Could you possibly do a video on how to get Discord audio into any streaming software from consoles? I'm struggling to figure out how to get the audio to come through from my Xbox series X.
Everything about this so far looks really cool, so I hope that they make a version that's built for more complex setups with at least 4 inputs, and the ability to control everything with your phone via wifi.
Roland has a similar thing like the link in on the bridgecast x I’ve been using that for awhile and it’s pretty good a few thing I don’t like but it gets the job done
Hey yo, I just want to give Best Buy another thank you for sponsoring this video. Absolute legends. Take a look at the products in the description.

So talking hardware quality wise. Is the audio hardware parts such as the amp in the Beacn Studio is superior to the Wave XLR?
Does it work well with El Gato softwares? I have a stream deck pro, but am looking for an audio interface for my XLR. Would I be better to get this or just go for the Elgato XLR interface?
This is the exactly what I wanted to ask
@@JxKINGx it’s a $100 more dollars. That’s the biggest thing for me. But it seems so much better than the wave link software
@@RealFansSports yeah debating about buying it
I feel you about the aesthetic of your desk! 😂 priorities bro! 🙌🏼 by the way as an Audio Engineer music producer the plug-ins that come with Beacon are top-notch! The ease of use factor alone is why I would get this as a new streamer. I have the Apollo Twin X and its a professional version of Beacon studio. Audio guys already know or should know this is the best choice for audio production and live streaming.
SteelSeries Sonar has had drag and drop for a while now. It's a software based solution that I use with my goxlr. But I need to add a second mic
Hey Harris ! I have a question.. I’m very intrigued by this device seeing as I am a dual PC streamer I use the rodecaster pro 2 , but a lot of these features for a dual PC streamer have me super interested. My question is can I use it with a stream deck or stream deck plus ?
I love being here because Harris is a regular guy (Like the information is fabulous and well presented too)
But The Desk aesthetic ABSOLUTELY matters though, and he gets this, I love that.
With the onboard processing can you plug the device into another machine without the software and the device will still do the processing on the mic?
Between elgato's Wave Link and the Beacn app for managing audio, which of the two do you prefer? Which of the two is more complete?
Expanders and gates are the same thing. The reason you'd even distinguish it is that if you don't alter the output volume, a gate would turn the sound down when the signsl is below the threshold, while an expander turns it up when it's above the threshold. If you turn the output volume down after an expander you now have a gate.
The reqson this expander is so good is likely just because they have good hysteresis and attack/decay settings, as well as probably a lower "release" threshold.
Would it be good to get the Beacn studio for Recording/Streaming and Music? It seems very good and solid overall
how do you get rid of that buzzing? i currently use the SM7B and Wave XLR.
The BEACN Studio actually looks like a great solution and insanely helpful for 2-PC setup creators but I'm just wondering on how all these different devices stand vs each other at the end of the day
Goxlr got an update last month.
i JUST fully setup my elgato stuff and NOW they release this 😭😭😭😭
what i'm wondering now is whether there is also a delay here, as with elgato wave.
on a side note, I'm looking for a longer cable for my Logitech Brio 4K, 2 metres just isnt enough really need 3, but want to maintain 60fps at FHD. what have people used?
You could always mount it under the desk like you did with the steel series pro wireless dock years ago.
now i have a question. do you think they will redesign the Beacn Mix or hell even the Beacn mic to have the Linked functionality. because i use a Beacn Mic already and Beacn mic Create and dont have a need for the Studio device. and to have that same link function without having to add a basically useless extra device to my desk would be Dope. sure id have to replace one of them (most likely the Mix) but i personally think that's better than adding an extra device to my desk that i would only use half of that devices functions for. hope im not the only one wondering this
@senpai what if you pluged the streamdeck + with the USB hub into the 2nd pc port of the beacn studio would that allow you to have the beacn processing still controlled through the elgato interface?
Does the BEACN Studio have VST support to use on any mic? and is there a voice changer in the software by default?
Holy crap I am looking for same info!
Beacn uses their own VST's, no 3rd party VST support currenty. No voice changer either
@@Senpaivoice changer would be a nice add at the very least if no 3rd party voice changer support.
Great review - that link function plus onboard real-time effect suite sell it. I can appreciate how this could really streamline my VO work, too! 🤝
Roland Bridge Cast X also has 2 pc setup option but its twice as expensive, is this better or same?
Finally a great and compact solution!
i didnt even notice the buzz before you said anything now im going insane
Does this work stand alone in other words will the changes you make will it be saved to the device ready to work while using it as a mixer on console without a PC ?
With the 2 pc thing, I need to know to solidify my purchase here, is it just other pc's? Could it be connected to a console for example, as that seems to me a massive issue for loads of people, and there are weird workarounds but this could be the best one if it can. And another along side that, if it can, do you need to have the pc on as well?
This is 100% what I've been waiting for. I have a number of competent Mic's and didn't feel the need to buy a new one, but I love the Mix Create.
14:18 i don't have these issue with the Rodcaster duo.
Very smart software that actually helps improve the workflow and it’s refreshing… well done
I got a Beacn mix create a month ago and getting my Rode USB podmic to sound good, was a pain because I would need to do the processing through an external app.
Since the mic still has an XLR output, this solves all my problems. And it's perfect because I think the processing Beacn offers is the best out there
I may have missed something but why was the phantom power on for with the sm7b?
I just got a second hand GoXLR for cheap and I really like it, has submixes too, so okay for now. But this thing is so much smaller and I would love to try the expander in it, because that’s one of the GoXLR’s worst things. Love the videos! Keep it up!
Unfortunately, i have to go with elgato since i've already bought the streamdeck+ AND the wave xlr for my sm7b.
So I am loving this product.. but I use a MAC Studio... Do you have any options or direction for MAC users?
Personally I want something with wide i/o and routing options than present here. I just want a lot of inputs i can mix and route to discord, obs, and headphones very uniquely, and part of that is the inputs to make all of those agree and show up in a routing table, whether voicemeeter or something specific to the hardware I'm using, or a mix of the two
This is 100 percent going to be my Christmas present to myself this year
Does this eliminate the delay in mic monitoring if I am using an external dac? I tried using the beacn mix create with goxlr before but there is a delay when monitoring my mic that way.
So do they have an XLR mic coming? The software looks good but Elgato Wave Link does a lot of that. I'm using free ReaPlugs and Renegate but like you said, that runs off your PC. I need to get off my old school Yeti but I've gotten really good sound. I add some additional eq, noise filtering etc in post.
Hi there! Do you know how to connect the Beacn Studio to a sound interface like the MOTU M2 or a similar device? Thanks!
Question: can you use the mic input on both PCs at once? That's kind of a big deal for me.
Roland has a similar thing like the link in on the bridgecast x I’ve been using that for awhile and it’s pretty good a few thing I don’t like but it gets the job done
i am literally done with my go xlr have to run multiple aux cables for a dual pc streaming setup this would be so much better. dang
It's an SM7db I think, not b
so you do have an integrated cloudlifter inside
Could you review the Shure MVX2U?
I use the Shure SM7B with the Roland Bridge Cast X and I love them
