to anyone wondering why they don’t have nvidia noise removal in their noise suppression options. Search Nvidia broadcast download center on any search engine and install the appropriate Audio driver for your graphics card. Note: this only works on RTX cards so not every single nvidia graphics card can run this software. Then restart your computer and open up OBS, should be under noise suppression options now.

@The Video Nerd, I am having a slightly different issue to what you described in this video. So a little background, I wanted to set up an audio source in OBS to record audio directly from my headphones for 2 purposes: 1) recording single player gameplay with live commentary so I didnt have to worry about my mic picking up game sounds from my tv's audio set up (subwoofer and a couple of speakers that are about 3 ft in front of where i'm sitting) and 2) for recording multiplayer gameplay where all I really need is to capture what my friends are saying in a Discord voice channel. I ran a test on this thinking that if i am capturing a Desktop Audio source, that that would give me my game sounds, and then if I also captured the Headset Audio source at the same time, then I'd have a near identical track of gameplay audio + any voice communications captured in discord. The idea being that if both tracks were more or less identical, I could mute or delete one track in the editing software and enhance what i needed to in the headphones track to make speech sound good without sacrificing the sounds of the gameplay. When I ran a test on this both with and without the invert polarity filter, i ran into a major problem: OBS isnt capturing the gameplay audio through my headphones. This is with the desktop audio capture source active. it comes out at a very low volume, extremely choppy and in short, there is nothing i can do to clean that track up in post. its just too far gone. if i record with the invert polarity filter active, i get absolutely nothing. not even the choppiness i got in the first test. What do I do about this? I tried using the Discord Streamkit widget for voice, and I dont like that because i don't get a visual decibel bar in OBS to confirm that it is working. I tried installing Voicemeeter Banana to do it that way for discord voice audio capture and that just wrecked my pc's audio settings and it took me three days to figure out where the problem was to fix it and get my headset working again. The application capture beta source in OBS doesnt work either because it won't give me an option to select a voice channel for it to capture from. I'm at a bit of a loss here. what am i doing wrong and how do i fix it? I really kind of have a need for content creation to have this kind of a setup, but as it currently exists, its kind of letting me down pretty badly, and thats without mentioning the popping and crackling that shows up on the track when i send the file to my editing software that didnt exist in OBS when I set up my microphone and headphones and applied all the necessary filters to get a good baseline recording. Just wanted to say thank you for sharing an updated video on this, the other video was quite a long time ago but it still holds well even in 2023. After following along with the video and tweaking with my microphone I did a couple of streams and people in my chat and my community have said that the quality is a lot better or in their words "it's like you've bought a new freakin' microphone!" and I don't blow peoples ear drums any more every time I scream or laugh which is a big improvement! :D
Firstly, I want to express my gratitude for your informative and engaging content. I’ve found your videos extremely helpful, especially when it comes to demystifying the complexities of OBS. I have a small suggestion that I believe could enhance the learning experience for your viewers, including myself. During the sections where you go through configuration settings, would it be possible to slow down the pace a bit? This would really help in ensuring we can follow along more effectively and implement the settings as you describe them. I understand that covering content thoroughly can be challenging within a limited time, but even a slight reduction in pace could make a significant difference. This adjustment would not only aid in better understanding but also allow viewers to appreciate the nuances of what you're teaching. Thanks again for your dedication to sharing your knowledge and expertise. Looking forward to your upcoming content!
If these filters are possible to do natively in Voicemeeter instead of having to pipe it thru OBS as well a link (or video for that) would be greatly appreciated :) Great explanations of each filter and what/why/how!
I used the last video a few days back and then this one dropped 7 hours ago. These videos have really helped me and you explain things so well. Thanks for the quality content 👌
This video strikes an excellent balance between explanation and instruction. I now not only sound much better but I have a basic understanding of what each of the filters do. Thank you very much!
This is the best OBS tutorial I watched so far, I am terrible with adjusting these sounds settings, but your tutorial is really clear and easy to follow. Thanks a Mil.
this virtual cable workaround is so simple and genius. downside is that you need to have obs open for it to work, since you monitor via obs and apply its filters, but its just genius. the whole tutorial is great. am lucky to click on this. 3 years ago i was checking filters already and had a setup which i will rework now!
Hey man! Great video like last time. Everything looks and sounds good this time around, and you do a really good job of explaining what every thing does. Even a complete beginner should be able to get a decent sounding stream with this. I have no reason to expand on audio processing this time. Keep up the good work!
Great tutorial for OBS. A tip for people out there. The VST 2 plugin called Frontier by d16 does (sort of) take care of everything at once like the expander, compressor, gain, saturation, and primarily the limiter stuff all in one box with only two knobs. I think that's pretty neat.
Great setup tutorial. I just bought a HyperX Solocast as my first ever microphone to start streaming and was a bit disapointed by how much it was capturing my keyboard and mouse. Now with this configuration it's sounding way better. Thanks for the tips!
Thank you for the video. I followed your steps and got a great improvement in my microphone sound, but there is one thing else I did that made a big difference. My microphone has a 3.5mm analog connector and a USB connector for power. I realized that the noise I heard in the background was coming from the computer itself. Even if I moved the microphone away from the computer, the noise was still there. It sounded like the computer fans running in the background, but it turned out that the problem was that the USB power from the computer was not clean. To fix this, I plugged the USB connector into a phone charger instead. Now the sound is perfectly clear. One thing to keep in mind is that the microphone could get overheated if your phone charger is not compatible. In my case this didn't happen at all. But it could be the case that because phone chargers vary in terms of the amount of power they supply and the quality of their voltage regulation. If you use a phone charger that is not designed to power a microphone, it could cause the microphone to overheat and damage the internal components. To avoid this risk, it is important to use a phone charger that is compatible with your microphone.
Super super helpful, thanks! I've followed step by step multiple times when setting up various different mics. One thing though... the virtual cable thing didn't work for me and messed up all my inputs and stuff, I had to remove it and redo a bunch of settings.
very comprehensive. thanks. one key thing to stop my mechanical keyboard and mouse sounds from being picked up. Speex seems like the best Noise Suppression choice at first glance because it has a level control, and it seems like this is best for fine tuning in a studio purely voice recording scenario. the RNNoise instantly mostly stops my keyboard clicking and mouse sounds, so that's the better choice for gamer streamers. strangely, I have a premium Nvidia card, but i nave no Nvidia options.
@@IANDURBECK i had the same question but i realized we have to separately download them online from the NVIDIA Broadcast Download Center. hope that helps!
The first part of the guide worked perfectly! The last part to use the filters with the vb audio cable did not. I made sure to restart my pc just in case that would help any and still discord does not pick up the mic at all. I feel like this may have something to do within the sound control panel settings since I've used voice meter banana before.
Go to OBS, click on the setting icon on your mic (the three vertical dots icon at the end of your mic green bar) , select "Advance Audio Properties" and then in the drop-down menu named "Audio Monitoring" of you mic select "Monitor and Output". That should fix it for Discord or any app using OBS audio output via the virtual cable.
Goat! Thanks bro, been using your guide for years. One issue I had, when enabling Nvidia noise suppression, Streamlabs would completely freeze. A user on Reddit said to turn off disable hardware accelerated gpu scheduling. I did that and fixed the problem. When I tried using virtual cable, awhile back, maybe 2 years ago, I'd have random issues. Mic would work, then sometimes it's just static. Unsure about trying now, but I really want to try that 3 band, plug in
Have spent over 3200$ to try and find the right mic until I found this ,thank you , my friends always complained about me having too much bass and with the eq I could finally talk like a normal person.
Thank you SO much for this!! You’ve helped me transform my £60 mic to sounding like a £200+ mic! My voice before was really hollow, but now my voice literally sounds like a “podcast” voice lol love it!!
Just really wanted to say thank you for this video. You explained everything super clearly and the instructions of what all the filters and setting do helped me to get set up so thank you again man. Amazing job!
I wasn't able to add my NVIDIA Noise Suppressor, and my mic was picking up more than -60 db, so instead of Noise Suppression, I had to use the Noise Gate filter, which gave me more control over the window of noise level my mic picked up. This itself is an absolute game changer, but with all of your great explanations, I was able to utilize the full use of my filters and feel like my mic is good, even though it's just the standard mic to the wired Astro A40s. Thank you so much! I love your mic reviews also!
This Is honestly such a well done and thorough video. explains what things are, why you need them, how to implement them and what they should sound like. Perfect
The virtual cable thing isn’t working for me at all. I put the monitoring output to monitor and output and followed every direction and it doesn’t work in xbox parties discord or anything just obs. Please help!
Thank you so much for this video! The step-by-step with audio/visual examples are easy to follow and detailed enough to emulate without being overwhelming. It's much appreciated!
That was awesome, thanks! One question though: after I enabled the Virtual Cable, I can indeed use it in any other app in MacOs as long as OBS is open, of course. However, I cannot monitor my voice anymore, only after I set the Monitoring device back to 'default', is there other way to have a toggle w/o having to go there?
Been really trying to up my audio game especially being in 4K lately. This video does a great job unlike others in explaining the aspects of things like thresholds and gains detailing exactly what they do. Thank you @TheVideoNerd!
12:20 does that mean that i have to have OBS running in the background so that the Virtual Cable has some input to pass on to Discord ? Meaning will this work if i just open Discord and start talking or do i have to have OBS open ?
You sir are a sound magician. Got my Rode Wireless to sound crystal clear using OBS. Could never get a great sound but your instructions in this video was all I needed. Thank you so much.
What would you suggest these filters or the reaper plugins filers? Your video does make everything so much easier btw. I am going to use this guide for now. But for future reference could you tell me why others use the reaper plugins instead? I don't mind getting more technical with my setup so if you could highlight the major difference "Performance wise" it would really be cool to know.
I literally just started my first stream earlier today. I recently bought the basics and did a stream just to try it out. I initially thought it was much easier and would all work through TH-cam, and was keyed into OBS by a coworker. This video alone (including the sponsor) is SUPREMELY helpful on so many levels. I can’t wait to hop back on the pc and make these adjustments, try out the sponsor, and to be less of a noob at streaming 😂 easy sub. Cheers mate.

3 band equilizer helped a lot since i have a low voice, thanks. While "Realtek audio control" which i didnt knot it existed removed that weird metallic noise that even obs couldnt cancel.
I have a question, when I monitor my microphone in my headset on OBS, there is a delay, and it messes me up when I talk. Is there any way to fix this where I can hear my voice in real time without the delay?
This is common problem of wireless headsets. Cable connected headsets can be solution. Also you can try to add a negative offset to your audio source (-500ms = 0.5 sec). Its in Advanced Audio Properties
Omg thanks so much for this updated vid! It was really helpful!! My one question is for the Virtual Cable link to Discord - you noted to have 'Monitor & Output' on when switching the Monitoring Device, but now I can't hear my Alert Sounds since I'd set that to Monitor & Output too so I could hear them while I stream. Is there a fix around this? Or do I have to keep toggling the Monitoring Device setting when using either programs?
hello guys i said i would let you know if i ever figure it out and i did figure it out lol so you have to download broadcast sdk NVidia drivers should be able to find it by typing broadcast sdk on the NVidia site, i hope this helps as i cant post a link.. good luck to you fellow content creators 😊
thank you very much !!! I was struggling and fuzzing around with different mics cause it sound weird whenever I stream !! but now thanks to you I'm actually able to sound absolutely good !!! in my streams !!! Thankyou very much again for this tutorial !!! 🫂🫂🫂🫂
I just wanna add for people that are watching this now and that are using OBS 30, you'll not be able to see NVIdia, even if you have NVidia Hardware in the Noise Surpression, since you'll need to get their SDK from the NVIDIA Broadcast Download Center Edit: As far as I'm aware, this is only the solution for RTX 20, 30 and 40 Series NVidia GPU's.
When I add virtual cable I no longer hear monitoring anymore. Even though I see that I have sound going through the channel. Any idea why? Great video, I just can’t figure out this one thing!
When monitoring your mic through OBS with the default monitoring device, how do you eliminate the delay between speaking, and hearing what you're saying in real time?
Thank you very much for this guide. Quite recently, I had an issue with my microphone, and with all the setting that I previously had, I couldn't detect where the actual problem was, so I deleted the microphone altogether from my OBS Studio, and after following this guide of yours, not only did I fix the issue, but now my microphone sounds much better! Kudos to you man! Subscribed + turned on notifications :)
dude, your videos have been helping me set up my youtube studio for over 2 years. every time I buy a new mic, instead of trying to recycle my filters I just pull up your videos and build a new filter profile by scratch. I've watched several other OBS tutorials and they none of them are as good as yours you should be proud of yourself.
Ahhhhh thank you very much for the Nvidia Noise Cancel with OBS. I’ve been using an AT4040 + Focusrite and the Mic by itself reduces background noises “Okay-ish” but still picks up my HVAC even with in sound treated room (them damn floor vents, man) I tried Nvidia’s Noise Cancellation by itself and it does an amazing job BUT it has a very nasty tendency to cut any sound that carries longer than a second or two, including your own voice 😐. So if you have a long reaction or are holding a note or something, it cuts you and it sounds very jarring. However, when OBS is controlling it, it’s much muuuuch more behaved when adjusted (85 was the sweet spot for me) I also did not know that you could get a virtualized audio source. Thanks for that.
I did the same and it went pretty much well. Although for the last part, when I go to discord and use the VB as an input then test it, the audio became choppy and I have no choice but to use the mic itself for the input device when going on calls

Ah and btw eq apo basically works like a driver h need to havr the app open but everything has a downside and for this it stops working if you updste windoes because windoes reinstalls audio drivers and to fix you just have to delete every file of eq apo EXCEPT the config.txt which holds the info of the vst plugins and stuff and the vst plugins themselves and u also need to uninstall it using the uninstsll thing in windows then u just install it back and put the config txt back in its place and thats it i might advise watching a tutorial on it

Yo my guy i want to say thank you! my viewers will thank you also for now limiting my screaming on reactions lol Legit good video here, helpful and gives you pretty much a great breakdown of all aspects and what they do.
When i record, i have a habit of not talking loud. So these filters helped, including the noice suppression because, again, i dont talk much (when i do its kind of quiet) on stream is much different though.

I too have an nvidia gpu but no options. Rather weird. Did you ever find a fix for this?
@@IANDURBECK i had the same question but i realized we have to separately download them online from the NVIDIA Broadcast Download Center. hope that helps!
The first part of the guide worked perfectly! The last part to use the filters with the vb audio cable did not. I made sure to restart my pc just in case that would help any and still discord does not pick up the mic at all. I feel like this may have something to do within the sound control panel settings since I've used voice meter banana before.
I found out that you have to have OBS up in the background for the VB audio cable to transfer through to discord
@@drcylon thanks that helped to hear it but my mic now sounds super choppy for some reason do you know a fix to that?
@@swagmaster287I disabled all automatic noise filters in discord settings to get the mic to sound like it does in OBS
@@drcylon This did the trick! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!
Your content has really made getting set up as a newer streamer so much easier. Keep up the great work!!!
Just really wanted to say thank you for this video. You explained everything super clearly and the instructions of what all the filters and setting do helped me to get set up so thank you again man. Amazing job!
Iv came to this video 6 times with 6 different mics and these setting work with EVERY ONE!!!
It's upsetting you never got a reply. Did you ever find a solution using the virtual cable?
same
@@ItBe_Kantidid you ever find a solution because I put it on and now can’t hear anything
@@deacon_frostdid tou find a solution because my audio don’t work
Do the step at 6:17 I had the same issue
Hey did you try it? I have the same question
@@Kappaburten Yes i did, so sadly you have to have OBS running in the background...so i gave up on the idea.
I've set this up but I'm just thinking, does this mean u need to have OBS open at all times for discord to apply the mic settings from VB Cable?
yes sir
Yeah, I'm also hearing a constant play back of my voice which makes it impossible to talk or hear myself. If I mute it, it mutes my mic everywhere.
@@1UPvocalcovers You're monitoring on the wrong audio source.
Best tutorial I have found around! My Fifine mic now sounds amazing! Great content. Thanks
The Fifine mic coupled with an audio interface is already amazing these filters and settings take it to another level of goooodnessss
Cheers mate.
i have an nvidia graphics card but i dont have the nvidia noise removals
same idk why
same but honestly the default one works fine
search in Nvidia broadcast download center on any search engine and install the appropriate Audio driver for your graphics card. Note: this only works on RTX cards so not every single nvidia graphics card can run this software. Then restart your computer and open up OBS, should be under noise suppression options now.
@@loomiii1282Thank you. It worked for myself.
U need an RTX card
this is hands down one of the best step by step straight to the bone tutorials tested and smooth that i've encountered IN A WHILE
thank you so much for the concise explanation !
3 band equilizer helped a lot since i have a low voice, thanks. While "Realtek audio control" which i didnt knot it existed removed that weird metallic noise that even obs couldnt cancel.
what if I have a nvidia card and those option on noise suppression don't show up?
same here
RTX
you need to install a certain thing to use the noise suppression. cant remember what its called. It's like nvidia broadcast or something like that.
@@yamanural4043 they were wired headphones , they are not wireless
nope delay stays forever no way to remove for me its 1-2 secs
If there is no way to remove the delay, why are asking the world to help you remove it? Did you try what was suggested?
@ yes I did and it did not work so I used a mix minus.
This is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much! ❤
I feel the love. love heart you back you old toad. Old bean!
you fixed 90% of my problems and questions of Obs, thank you so much
One of the best tutorials on TH-cam! Well done.
Or do I have to keep toggling the Monitoring Device setting when using either programs?
so i have a nevidia graphics card and all but it does not show me nevidia noise removal or other nevidia options
Same
Same, RTX went to the bin
I haven't found a solution but I ever do I will be sure to let you boys know
hello guys i said i would let you know if i ever figure it out and i did figure it out lol so you have to download broadcast sdk NVidia drivers should be able to find it by typing broadcast sdk on the NVidia site, i hope this helps as i cant post a link.. good luck to you fellow content creators 😊
thank you very much !!!
I was struggling and fuzzing around with different mics cause it sound weird whenever I stream !!
but now thanks to you I'm actually able to sound absolutely good !!! in my streams !!!
Thankyou very much again for this tutorial !!! 🫂🫂🫂🫂
I just wanna add for people that are watching this now and that are using OBS 30, you'll not be able to see NVIdia, even if you have NVidia Hardware in the Noise Surpression, since you'll need to get their SDK from the NVIDIA Broadcast Download Center
Edit: As far as I'm aware, this is only the solution for RTX 20, 30 and 40 Series NVidia GPU's.
Thank you!
Have you found a fix for this?
After using all these settings my audio still sounds horrible please help
Try going to your sound settings, then click on the microphone your using, and turn off the audio enhancements setting
What kind of mic are you using
at that point buy a new one lmaoo theres no one saving your mic

Thank you for the tutorial, it's actually works !!
Ahhhhh thank you very much for the Nvidia Noise Cancel with OBS. I’ve been using an AT4040 + Focusrite and the Mic by itself reduces background noises “Okay-ish” but still picks up my HVAC even with in sound treated room (them damn floor vents, man)
I tried Nvidia’s Noise Cancellation by itself and it does an amazing job BUT it has a very nasty tendency to cut any sound that carries longer than a second or two, including your own voice 😐. So if you have a long reaction or are holding a note or something, it cuts you and it sounds very jarring.
However, when OBS is controlling it, it’s much muuuuch more behaved when adjusted (85 was the sweet spot for me)
I also did not know that you could get a virtualized audio source. Thanks for that.
I did the same and it went pretty much well. Although for the last part, when I go to discord and use the VB as an input then test it, the audio became choppy and I have no choice but to use the mic itself for the input device when going on calls
Hello Great tutorial but i have one question my audio clips at the ends of my words what setting do i change and do i make it lower or higher? Thank you
I think this man made my career boost by 30% at least. Thanks so much bro. and thank god I searched for obs audio filters guide. it really really helped me out. Much love man, see you all at the top
BEST AUDIO SET UP VIDEO BY FAR!!! THANK YOU!!!
so where does VST 2x plugin fit in on the list? right after Noise suppression?
this is definitely the best tutorial out there like every other one is like 'do this, do that' and explains nothing omg
Dude. You are the best, perfect explanation and my mic sounds so much better now and I especially love that you taught me how I can apply the filtered audio to discord! New subscriber and a thumbs up for you :)
I am getting a 1-2 second delay in my audio monitoring headphone which I am using for while I record content with OBS. I used a SM7B microphone with Forcusrite. Any fix for this?
You can try using eq apo its basicslly just the same worked well for me and the delay is unnoticable prob like 10 ms more and it tells u that
I use like 13 plugins on my mic so thats might help u know the delay for exampe i use rnnoise fresh air tdesser and kotelnikov
And it has some limits but everything said here works there
Ah and btw eq apo basically works like a driver h need to havr the app open but everything has a downside and for this it stops working if you updste windoes because windoes reinstalls audio drivers and to fix you just have to delete every file of eq apo EXCEPT the config.txt which holds the info of the vst plugins and stuff and the vst plugins themselves and u also need to uninstall it using the uninstsll thing in windows then u just install it back and put the config txt back in its place and thats it i might advise watching a tutorial on it
Thank you for the detailed explanations and real-time examples! They were a HUGE help in setting up (as well as understanding what I was doing at each step) - fantastic video!
Use this tutorial more than once really really nice
Holy crap, the 3-band equalizer makes all the difference in the world. Great tutorial; thank you!

Excellent Tutorial. Just what I needed. This method is way better than any of the others that i have found so far. Thank you for making this.
When i record, i have a habit of not talking loud. So these filters helped, including the noice suppression because, again, i dont talk much (when i do its kind of quiet) on stream is much different though.
Omg thank you, I thought my Yeti Nano was broken or something, turns simply changing the mic volume on my laptop changed everything. Thank you!
Excellent work. Means working from home on online lectures and conferences has gotten a lot more effective!

Is there a way to get rid of the delay when using the cable to discord?
nope :c
I downloaded the VB Cable extension, but when I select in in Discord, there is no sound recognized. Any thoughts on this? Also, are we supposed to adjust out Audio Settings on PC when installing this plugin? Thanks!
I cant really describe why but somehow this is one of the most interesting videos that i have ever watched. Good job man ❤
