    "I actually like to take my top off and shake a bit." My grandma walked in at that very moment when I paused it after that sentence. We're at a family BBQ and this is very awkward.

      Really? I heard it’s too soggy. I think I’ll have to compare both old fashioned and quick oats. I think it’s a matter of texture preferences and possibly what milk is used.

    I like the idea of overnight oats, but it seems to me that making it in jars is only about how it looks. Surely that's massively inconvenient? Look at the toppings! You've got quite a lot of oats but only a small amount of the topping will fit on top. And how are you supposed to get a spoonful of oats with some topping? Seems like you will have to eat all the topping first, then get down to the oats. Why not just pour it into an actual bowl, then add the topping? I've thought about this way too much.

      I always thought that too! Never understood how they could eat them properly. I think you'd have to re-ad your toppings

      When my mum does the slimming world recipe she uses a Tupperware tub that's shallow but kind of long and keeps it in the fridge over night. She only uses the yogurt tho. This would be a lot easier for toppings x

      @CiaramarieCeCeStarChild20 9 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      It's good only for preparation then I'd say pouring into a bowl makes more sense.

      noobish hat I use mason jars for tons of food things... The lid is convenient. They're tempered glass for people who dont want to eat or heat up food in plastics. They're way cheaper than Pyrex. In this video she was clearly trying to make the food look good- why wouldnt she? A larger sized jar with a wide mouth top seems more convenient than these jars shes using in the video (but probably not in reality.)

    THE BEST oatmeal I've ever had. I baked an apple and a pear in cinnamon & brown sugar. Chopped them up once they were done (30 minutes on 350). Then followed ALL of her instructions in this video. So yummy!!! For the baked apple jar I used a lil maple syrup and for the pear jar I used honey. My husband raved about it this morning. Facebooked the video and everyone is asking about it. Thanks Meg!

    With the chia seeds I'd add way more liquid. Don't forget to drink lots if you use this recipe.

    • @OrangeTabbyCat
      @OrangeTabbyCat 8 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Because as healthy as all kinds of seeds are, they can stick to the intestinal walls and cause nasty irritations. One of my (very green) friends was in the hospital because of that. We learned it in health lessons too. Chia seeds also take lots of liquid so it is recommended to soak them in a certain amount of liquid, the oats take liquid too. I eat chia seeds pretty much every day, mix them 1:6 with milk. If I add oats I will ad more liquid and drink more too. Better more liquid than too little. But that's just my two cents.

    I love your videos! just wanted to point out that there are good fats and bad fats... donn't go for low fat in yoghurt, milk and butter... those fats are good for you... get real grass fed butter...olive oil, coconut oil and ghee is also good fat. Vegetable oil and most 'low-fat' products are bad for you. Avoid sugar - that's the killer.

      Yes!! 🙌 Just make sure to get California Olive Ranch 100% California Extra Virgin Olive Oil as most others are fake!! And don't forget Avocado Oil! Calpure, Chosen Foods, and Marianne's are the real thing.

      Janine Domingo Overnight oats isn't a very exact science, I have a really good recipe for apple cinnamon oats and it's delicious you just need
      1/2 cup oats
      1/2 cup milk
      1/4 Cup yogurt
      1/2 cup chopped apple
      1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
      1 teaspoon honey or any other sweetner
      and then you just mix everything together and refrigerate for at least 8 hours

    These look delicious but for practicality I'd rather see them in a bowl. The way the toppings are towered it looks like they'll roll off and onto the table the minute you stick a spoon to them and I prefer breakfast to be a calming experience

    These look fantastic! Two questions: 1) how long can you leave the oats in the fridge before pulling them out and adding your toppings and eating? 2) The quantities you made in the video, do they actually puff up like that, or when you said you made a "triple batch" did you do 3 times the batch per mason jar? Thanks! :)

    • @WhatsUpMOMS

      They do not puff up. I made 3x the quantity just for show. ;) I only leave mine overnight.

    • @Alendi11
      @Alendi11 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Sophie C it works they just don't expand like old fashioned oats because they've been cooked more

    • @Papershredderrr
      @Papershredderrr 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +Sophie C They don't expand, they turn into squishy mush like a really nasty porridge, and they absorb all the wet ingredients instantly so if all you do is just shake it then parts of it would still be raw/dry when you eat them so you need to naturally use more to get them all soaked....so basically, it turns into nasty mush

    I love this channel super inspiring, but it lacks diversity. As a mom who is African American I wish I had more mommies like me to deal with hair and skin issues that I wouldn't learn from this sight. I also wish there was a physical representation of mommies of different sizes. I have struggled losing baby weight. And wish I could see a mommy going through my transition with me. These mom's are awesome, beautiful and empowering and there should be more of them. Start a contest on a new mommy who is Indian, blank , something different to kick stay a new type of viewers. Lots of love.

    I kinda want a bit more flavor.. So instead of greek, maybe some low-calorie vanilla yogurt. And for the oats, a packet of apple cinnamon instant oats (soaked in almond milk to make it less stale). Top it with strawberries and bananas. and a hint of chocolate shavings. I kinda have a sweet tooth.

    I made these last night. All my kids made their own which was fun. We labeled the jars with each person initials so we didn't get them mixed up. Wow YUM! This was so delicious. I will definitely make these again and leave in the fridge for a quick, easy and healthy breakfast. They are super filling also. How long do you think I can keep one refrigerated before eating? Thanks for the great recipe.
