No need, this was not bad at all. This is a good controller but it has not convinced me to dump the 1000srt. I need the hardware and mic effects, bpm reading on controller, and one dedicated channel for back up music. It's an almost perfect controller, Rane Two should kill every controller out there!
Thanks I’m just getting back into djaying at age 50. I purchased the rane one and I love the spinning platters. Your review is what really help me make decisions. Keep up the amazing work you do.
I know this is an older video but I just picked up a Rane one because it was a great deal. As someone who has lugged turntables and a mixer around for 15 years, with a very brief stint on a pioneer controller, this controller hit it on the mark producing as close to the turntable experience as you can. Especially when switching out the slipmats. As a controller that seemed to be marketed to the turntable driven DJs more, I do wish they did the pitch faders and start/stop buttons in the technics battle style layout as I believe most turntable DJs are used to pitching with their hands in the front. Overall it’s a fun controller with the build quality Rane has. This is gonna be a great piece of kit to use on the go. I can keep my M5Gs and 72 safe at home and still have a fun experience while DJing.
Im a 1210 user at home. My regular spots have moved on from CDJ’s to Controllers over the last few years. I have disliked the general concept of controllers for some time and would be the awkward guy rolling up with my CDJ 1000’s. After seeing the Rane One and following your review and thoughts so far I’m going to sell my CDJ’s which now act as ‘back ups’ and get a Rane One instead.. which im starting to think I’m going to end up loving and using to gig with. I guess I had to make the move to controller at some point and I think the Rane One is it. P.S - You’re audio was fine even before the mic! Great vids. Much love - Wales, UK.
I didn't know John Salley was a dj??? All jokes aside, Cleveland Terry has been a go to from day one in helping me make decisions about product and learning as a relative newbie (less than two years spinning)
First off stop apologizing for good /helpful/informative videos. One thing though, I only use virtual DJ & on my laptop I only DJ for family parties & possibly a friend. You mentioned that you don't like the Serato effects. I went to try & purchase a controller but couldn't make up my mind. The guy was selling them(guitar center) for the effects but I never used them so I wanted to learn the system first. Fast forward I remix house music & use little effects. What is your suggestion for a beginner? I blend well enough to have tons of compliments. I don't make mistakes. I would like to know what suggestion you have because I use stems a lot. I don't want to spend over $400 Should I be looking for a four-deck controller.
Cleveland Talks... to himself. LOL Great video as usual. So many great options and variety at the moment in the DJ market, and with most of the world slowly opening back up, A great time to shop if you can.
Im glad u gave an updated review with some real on the bricks street time. To me that speaks louder than 100 videos from people in the lab. Or i guess u could say louder than Terry when he remembers his mic. LOL
Great review just cancelled my order for the 1000srt back oreder was taking too long, picked up the Rane couldn't be happier, got the pro x case but will look for the oddesey case for travel.
We've done 1 wedding and 1 50th anniversary as of now for 2021. I'm not sure if it's because we are collectively thirsty for gigs and events or because of all the prep we did in the off-season, but this year has been amazing so far. Still waiting on my wire harness for my Rane One case build. But its coming and we should have a killer time on 5/1
Where did you get that case from? And that stand is awesome? Because I’m looking to purchase the Rane One as well. Hearing you say how it feels to use it then yes it makes me looking to go foward to purchase thank you sir
my equipment would never have that sun exposure because its called a "canopy equipments best friend"!!! and yours too shades the best policy in keeping them harmful rays off you & keeping you & your system Kool & safe @ the sametime buddy ohhh they come with windows too haha lol... cheers bruh from yonkers ny. YO. thankz for the upload!!!
Had my 1st turntables in 1990 & as I've rolled with the times I've alway preferred gear that would give me that "turntable feel" and always will but why folks are making it sound like that didn't exist before The One/Twelves is a mystery to me. Numark did it in '03 with the CDX & HDX after that. Then V7/NS7 & all it's successors and being that they're still using the same damned motor in The One/Twelves & Denon 5000/6000M, I think it's safe to say that they nailed it damned near 2 decades ago.
This review was the reason I went out and bought the rain one I’m happy with my purchase this is excellent equipment but I just have a quick question do you recommend using a mixer with this controller
I've ordered the rane one and it's been on back order since the beginning of March. But I do have the case for it and the laptop sits in front of you. Don't know how you feel about flight cases but it might be easier for you In the future.
Hey terry just wanted to say thanks for all your reviews and insight. I’ve gathered a lot of Knowledge on these products from you. I was curious with your time spent with the rane one if you have learned how to change some settings…. I was hoping to set the loop button to always start at 4 bars. Because when I use roll feat it changes the beat setting for the loop. It’s kinda annoying to change it back to 4 after every time I roll. The driver that comes with it only has the option to calibrate fader. Unlike the 70 that lets you set all kinds of device settings…. Thanks for your time and again keep up the great work!!
I feel you on the audio snafus ... I just got a Deity wired lav and its done wonders for my sanity, knowing there's a 99% chance the audio will be fine! Good update on the Rane One!
HELL YEAH! I love mine i am going to use this for the first time at a real party this April 10th! so this video just made it 100x better to use it at a party. Thank You.
Still undecided between the Rev 7 , Rane 1 , & Rane 4 .Stems is for me no way the deal breaker for me but effects are . I know pioneer in built effects are unrivaled so I should go for thr Rev 7 but I'm not impressed with the battle style layout . So Rane 1 vs 4 ? Are any major features on the 4 that make it the ultimate controller?
First off thank you for your input on this. Makes me glad I purchase the Rane One. but I was wondering if you've done and deep review on that laptop that's in this video. I'm not much of a Mac user and PC's are a lot easier for me to maneuver and get to know the know. Thanks for your response in advance
Great video Bro! You've helped me in this decision to order the Rane One. I was definitely on the fence, but not anymore. Thanks again! Btw, mic sound wasn't that bad. No need to redo the video.
id like to know how it feels to cart around the place in the bag, is it very heavy? i used to have a numark ns7 and the case weighed the same as the controller, it was a back breaker, literally to carry. nightmare
I just got my Rane zone in today. Initial thoughts. Size is perfect for mobile, cuts sound good. Need to wire up the big system to see how it holds up there.
Do you think there will be a Rane One MK2 available after they drop the Performer. Maybe even have on board effects, i like the size and two channels is just fine. Whats your take on this? Thanks Terry
I have done some daytime, outdoor events... I always have an easy-up if cover isn't provided... I agree, it should have had at least a bit of onboard effects... for what I do I'm not sure the mixer section and mic implementation will work...I regularly use 2 mics at the same time as an external input... if I was more of a turntablist, I would be all over this unit. Still considering one for home, for practicing turntablist stuff, and then maybe for events where I don't need the 4ch unit I currently use. The other option is a 4ch mixer and a pair of Denon SC6000M players... After some use, what do you think about the mic switches and them holding up over time? Keep shining bro...
Hi CT as always great vid, full of info, what I would to know is that XMG dj15 you got, just got one (4 days ago) loving it ,and it's powerful. have you done a review on it?
Just out of curiosity, what kind of music do play at corporate events like that...assuming its some corporation? Getting back into djing and have never played out except for house parties, warehouse raves (i'm old), residencies at bars, and performance scratch for bands.
Great info in your video. Although I have all 3 mayor DJ software and I am presently using Rekordbox as my main daily driver, like to know what you think now about the ddj 1000 since you had such great experience with Rane 1. I would love Pioneer to have a similar controller as Rane 1.
Hi Cleve, love All your reviews. So, what about the fact that it doesn’t have a mic talk over button or mic echo? Did that effect you playing out on your gig?
Great update and review always appreciate your input. You mention you used a oddysey case for the rane one controller. That fitted from a another mixer. Do you happen to have the description so I can look into getting one?
HELLO THERE DJ C T , THANK U FOR GREAT REVIEW ON THE RANE ONE DJ CONTROLLER . HEY DK CT GOTTA A QUESTION ? WHAT TYPE OF LAPTOP ARE YOU USING ON THIS TUTORIAL VIDEO ? ITS THAT A MACBOOK OR WINDOWS PC ?
not to mention, that even 1000$ controllers are mostly built of plastic... Rane does it right! for over 1000 bucks real metal is the only material I accept.
I'm sure this is an awesome controller but I just can't help that feeling of inMusic thinking that no-one has noticed that they simply tweaked and repackaged the Numark NS7 and slapped the Rane name on it for the fact that the Rane name has more "Prestige" and can be sold at a higher price, Kind of how General Motors sells the Cadillac Escalade at a higher price even though it's just a fancy Chevy Tahoe. Most DJ's (Myself included) would dismiss Numark as amateur equipment but names like Rane, Pioneer and even Denon are viewed as Pro gear and of course sold at premium prices. inMusic has definitely done their homework to maximize profit, or maybe its just the old guy in me lol! good vid as always!
It's like everything that comes out new it's in an experiment stage as time goes on they will improve on the rane one. Trust me i mean look at the Numark mixtrack lineage.
Sorry for the sound folks...Didn't have the energy to do it over again. Hopefully you still find it useful.
