Yes, and hopefully avoid the limited range of motion that's on Rep's unit with cable rub. Also I'd love to see the bottom pulley like 18" or so off the ground so I can use it while sitting on a bench instead of the floor.
No wonder the REP Lat/Low Row pulley keeps selling out the second it comes in stock. U r right, the Slinger n Trolley have so much potential once they fully commit 2 them!
The band attachment option is particularly nonsensical you might as well just attach the band direct to a pull-up bar or rack cross member and save the $300. When this was first released that was the only option Rogue gave
Considered the Slinger but bought the SURPLUS STRENGTH UPS HIGH - rack center mount - no hassles with rubber grommets - no drilling a x-member for the cable

But i have another q, if I’m deadlifting do I need bumper plates or are iron fine?
Until the extended routing comes out for the slinger, not even the weight stack is a good choice because there are so few places to put it. You couldn't put it in a 4 post rack because you will no longer be able to use the inside of it (unless you have a half rack, I suppose). You can't put it in the front of a six post rack for the exact reason I just mentioned. So your only options are to put in in the back of the rack and float the rack in the middle of the room (obviously not ideal/possible for some people who don't have a lot of space), or flip the rack around so the 24" portion is in the front and the 43" is in the back. More people may be okay with that, but it still limits the functionality of the rack. I would love to see Rogue release a half-cave with one slinger for people who can't afford or can't fit a full cave.
Coop, Rogue DID come out with more attachments for the Slinger w/ the monster cave. - Low pully like you said - Low pully seat w/ low row. Check the optional accessories for the cave. Fixes the issue you talked about in the video.
Too bad Rogue won't sell the low row/feet attachment to us early adopters of the Slinger Rack Mounted Seat.....you can only purchase the low row as a seat/low row combo at this point......such a shame.....
@@MattPendergraph Matt I’m waiting for you to do that install video of the weight stack version. Think mine will ship in 8week more. I’ll need your help brother. 👍🏻👍🏻
I built a custom pulley system on my rack. You load plates on a loading pin. Works like a charm. Still a prototype, needs some improvement for ease of use and whatnot but it's great.
This is one of the few options that work with the wall folding racks. Center and back mounted options don't really work. So for that niche this is the best option I've seen.
I think this is probably correct. I have the Slinger attached to my Rhino and it works fine. But the Surplus Strength high pulley doesn't require you to run the cable through an additional front-to-back crossmember, so you can just use the left-to-right crossmember that you will already have, and you won't have to worry about the cable running through the crossmember and potentially rubbing on the sharp metal edges.
QUETION MINUTE 6:15. ANSWER MINUTE 2:46 those two rubber rings with a canal in the middle you can attach in the rack holes up and down. So the rope is protected
This is solid!! It’s insane how much different type of equipment continues to be put out there. This is why the garage gym lifestyle is the way to be! I’ll never go back to the commercial gym 💪🏼💪🏼
Hey Coop ! Another option for resistance on the Slinger is to use a Rogue (or any other company's tbh) vertical loading pin (for grip strength) There may be some sway when you pull and use the Slinger, but it seems to be a more optimal option for attaching weight to the cables
My problem with all cable attachment is that they increase height, which I do not have. If instead they had made some type of unit that could attach across like you did but mounted on the underside I would be much more interested. As it is there is no real benefit to it over the tons of other rack mounted cable systems out there.
Whats so unique about it? i have a 8yo Powermark (Bodymax) rack with a high & low pulley attachment. This version of Rogue just seems to be more awkward and inconvenient compared to pulley attachments most other brands have.
Agree Coop. As far as I've been able to research, there is no great solution for a full functional trainer type options with a (Rogue) rack or any manufacturer. Even if you were to design a rack with extra components to accommodate the pulley and spend the money on all the bells and whistles that go with it, it's still sub-optimal. For instance, it would make sense for the new lat pull down seat to also have foot plates on the bottom so you can do low rows with the new low pulley but it doesn't. Furthermore, even functional trainers, like Rep, don't have a low row option on their functional trainer even if you could afford the cost and the space. Like you said, all good ideas but half-baked.
As with most things Rogue puts out, you will almost always need that “extra thing” to make full use of an accessory like this. A little annoying yes. But understandable.
It seems the hack with using the 50 Cal LT1 Tolley arms with a shackle is a good option for those who have them already.... saves taking off your flip/down safety's and installing the weight plate accessories. I plan on purchasing the shackle and giving that a try!
I would love to see you're review of the Angles 90 pulley system they just came out with! I wonder how it compares to other pulley systems on the market!
Hey Coop, Do you think the ML version of this would fit on the short 12" wall mount crossmembers of the RML-90SLIM rack? If I'm eyeballing this right and using the measurements Rogue has on their site, I come up with 11" of "mounting" length which should fit on that crossmember. I'd have to drill a hole for the cable to pass through but that's minor.
Great video as always Coop. Hypothetically could you purchase a low cross member and mount the weight stack in the center of the rack where your belt squat is?
Is there any reason you can't just use the slinger as normal in the front, have a second one further back (e.g., between the back two uprights of a 6 upright rack), and just make a DIY cable that's long enough to reach through both? It would allow for easier use of the plate stack from Rogue, or even using your regular plate-loaded system and keep it out of the way of the safety cross beams.
Something that looks like a shackle bush from a leaf spring on a car would work, just make it out of UHMW plastic and drop it in from the top, and have the slinger hold it in.
You mentioned the monster cave in this video. When they released that like a month or two ago I was extremely intrigued. I'm looking to upgrade (swap out more accurately) my equipment and the cave raised my eyebrow. BUT.... i saw the slinger. Yes you can get the cave with a lat pull down upright and adjustable pulley upright.... or two adjustable pulley uprights to make essentially a cable crossover machine. That's great if you don't mind unloading like $8,000.... and have 9.5+ ft ceilings because those latter two options are only compatible (for some reason.... I fail to see why they wouldn't work with a 90" rack) with 100" racks. So I'm pretty much relegated to the 90" cave with slingers. The slinger always seemed like good concept but wouldn't work that well/at all in reality.... like socialism, Haha. They then came out with it working with a weight stack which excited me, but then I thought about it for a couple seconds and realized that's a bad idea. That is unless you buy another upright and two crossmembers to attach the stack to pretty much making it more of an attached high/low pulley system to your rack instead of one that's more streamlined and integrated with the rack. To have the weight stack slinger work as advertised you NEED a 6 post rack. I have one, but still. Because in addition to the 6 post rack you NEED to have pretty much 360 degree access to your rack. Why? The ONLY way the weight stack slinger would work is in the space between the middle upright and the back upright... the crossmembers attaching the plate storage uprights. Why? Because the slinger HAS to be mounted right above an upright. If you put it on the front upright.... the stack would be blocking pretty much every hole in your power rack.... not to mention block off the entire side making benching and squatting pretty difficult. So it HAS to be on the back upright of a 6 post rack. Even then I wonder how great it would be if you use your 6 post rack to, you know, store your plates. The plates stick out beyond the back of the rack. With the slinger cable dangling right at the end of the rack I assume the weight plates you have stored on said back upright would get in the way. Not so much maybe for tricep work or low rows but definitely for lat pulldowns. I already have a hoist fitness high low pulley machine (with a chest press) so the slinger felt like an inferior option. What I really want is a functional trainer or actual cable crossover machine. The Cave seemed like rogues answer to that desire. Even with dedicated uprights for the slinger stacks.... and with their new hinged adjustable low pulley....... I still doubt think it will work how I'd like it to. In order to use the low pulley you have to attach an extension cable to the cable. If you set the pulley to the middle of the upright to do..... chest flys..... you couldn't. Well, you could, but somewhere in the movement you'll come to a halt because where the two cables attach will hit that adjustable pulley. Not to mention having the pulley set to the middle of the upright means you'll have feet (plural) of extra cable sticking out of the pulley. So you'd need to strand like 3 feet away from the pulley... at least. So while the cave looks awesome..... I don't think I'd like it. What I WISH rogue would do..... and why they haven't done this yet is beyond me..... is take their trolley system that designed for their jammer arms and engineer it to have a pulley on their. You could literally have an adjustable pulley system with that trolley. Throw in another pulley to attach to the bottom crossmember so you can weave a cable PROPERLY to convert your 6 post rack into a no shit power rack and functional trainer. It wouldn't be that hard to design. Why they haven't yet boggles my damn mind. All you'd need to convert your 6 post track to make the back of it into a functional trainer is an altered trolley containing a swivel pulley, a PROPERLY MEASURED cable, and a box of pulleys to attach to the rack to properly weave the cable through to attach to said trolley to make a no shit proper functional trainer. With the 2 weight stacks, pulley kit and cable, and re- engineered trolleys.... for likely a rogue price of $2500 you can convert your 6 post rack into legitimate functional trainer. I should work for rogue. Or some other competing brand. Doing what I said wouldn't be that difficult to come up with. You'd need the two trolleys with a swivel pulley on them... instead of a jammer arm attachment, about.... 10 pulleys, 12 if you count the one that'll be attached to the stack, and... the stack. Outside of slightly redesigning the trolley, rogue already makes/ sells all this shit. Just package it together.
Can you bolt this upside down along that center cross-member? I have ceiling height restrictions, and don't see a particular reason why the pulley system couldn't work upside down, but I don't have access to one to play around with. Thanks!
Waiting on the lower pulley for my lat seat i have the plate holder works great don’t work inside my rack so no problems I’ve put over 200lbs of plates no problem
It would be nice if they added a right angle cross member to allow the slinger to sit out further. Same design as thier out of the rack safeties. Just not as long. Have that trolley with some pins on the same upright.
I have a Monster Lite and I'm looking now for cable options, specifically for lat pulldown and seated rows, but seems Rogue din't offer anything, WTF? Even worse, in Europe, they don't even have the weight stack available. Seems to me the a stack with lat and low functionality that would connect to the rear of the rack would be an instant hit. What are they waiting for?
Coop, I was wondering if you could try mounting a Slinger to end of your Savage storage rack where it seems like nothing would get in the way and you wouldn't have any kind of safeties to move every time you use it. The issue I see is that the Fray racks don't use a flat topped I-beam so you would probably have to buy a Monster Lite version that is tall enough to get over the post and then use your spacers to adapt it to the 1 inch holes, but otherwise.. Would that work?
I decided to go REP due to Rogue not really working a lot of things out for home gym builders. Plus, they NEVER answer my emails about technical questions. I wanted to by USA but really, iPhones are made in China so I guess my Rack can be as well.
Hi Coop, I have the Rhino on my RM6 but my ceiling height is just about to low to fit the Slinger for a lat pulldown. Would you recommend hooking up two spud inc cables to the rhino to get the benefit of a vertical lat pulldown or do you suggest something else? Thanks.
I wish that you would have showed how to attach it to the side of the power rack and how to attach weights to it. As it stands, I have no idea how to use it.
I’d have to disagree the cost to value isn’t there to justify the purchase imo. Every piece I’ve owned from Rogue has been top notch, the slinger being the exception. Majority of home gym owners will buy the plate loaded or banded resistance version. If you purchase the last pull down seat total cost is $850~ shipped. There is considerable sway while using it that is off putting for such an expensive piece. I’m sticking to my home made pulley system until I can find a good cable stack solution.
Can you please go into more depth using the slinger with the rhino, you said it’s the best way. Did you have to order new cables at a different length? Thx
I like Rogue, but this was a fail. They’d have been better off making a rack attached plate loaded system like REP. I bought a Spud Inc lat cable and two low row cables along with a few grip attachments. A little creativity with band pegs and I have a lat pull down, cable tricep/bicep and cable crossover all in one.
Can you use something like this for a cable cross? Im looking to replace my 20 year old Dicks smith machine with upper and lower pulley for something that has the ability to have dual upper and lower as well as squat capability.
I am debating between this or the rep fitness with lat puul down attachment. The thing is that I like the rogue leverage arms better though. Can I use the roque leverage arms and the lat pull down on the foldable rogue rack?
Ok I NEED HELP…so I have a body solid cage with the lat pull down and row pulley but what can I use to have my feet in proper position as to doing the rows?? Just I just scrap this whole cage and buy another cable machine?? the cable device I have is the Chuck Norris total gym and it’s cool but trying to conserve space in garage and maximize everything. Waiting on the lower pulley for my lat seat i have the plate holder works great don’t work inside my rack so no problems I’ve put over 200lbs of plates no problem
Killing the videos man!
I just now got this and the grommet will already not stay in. Did you ever come up with a solution for it?
Coop, I was wondering if you could try mounting a Slinger to end of your Savage storage rack where it seems like nothing would get in the way and you wouldn't have any kind of safeties to move every time you use it. The issue I see is that the Fray racks don't use a flat topped I-beam so you would probably have to buy a Monster Lite version that is tall enough to get over the post and then use your spacers to adapt it to the 1 inch holes, but otherwise.. Would that work?
Rogue needs to make a drop in high / low pulley. I think they could innovate on whats already on the market. It would be a very popular product.
Can it be used on a 3x3 monster squat rack from Rogue if cross member is installed instantly of a pull up bar?
The 1st lat pull down i remember was Titan fitness from like 7-8 years ago
I’d have to disagree the cost to value isn’t there to justify the purchase imo. Every piece I’ve owned from Rogue has been top notch, the slinger being the exception.
Majority of home gym owners will buy the plate loaded or banded resistance version. If you purchase the last pull down seat total cost is $850~ shipped.
There is considerable sway while using it that is off putting for such an expensive piece. I’m sticking to my home made pulley system until I can find a good cable stack solution.
Jokes on you, Coop. I don't have a wife, so I could spend my money to buy whatever unnecessary, but cool gym equipment🤣
I'm so very very alone....😢
If it matters your utter agony gave me a chuckle.
@@Egghead1199 hahaha!😂😂😂
@@Egghead1199 it gives my loneliness meaning 😂
@garagegymreviews what’s your thoughts on the weight stack variant? I am really considering one.
I apologize if this was addressed already above. Where can i find the center cross member to mount the slinger onto on my monster rm6?
Can you please go into more depth using the slinger with the rhino, you said it’s the best way. Did you have to order new cables at a different length? Thx
I like Rogue, but this was a fail. They’d have been better off making a rack attached plate loaded system like REP. I bought a Spud Inc lat cable and two low row cables along with a few grip attachments. A little creativity with band pegs and I have a lat pull down, cable tricep/bicep and cable crossover all in one.
Can you do a review on Domyos Rack 900. In India, Rogue and other USA brands are not available but this is, would like to hear your thought! 😄
Can you use something like this for a cable cross? Im looking to replace my 20 year old Dicks smith machine with upper and lower pulley for something that has the ability to have dual upper and lower as well as squat capability.
They really just need a roller that goes on the upright like the adjustable jammer arms have. Then like a flip down post where the weights can go
Would you recommend an ANCORE Trainer over this?
Can you please review the rogue 50 cal trolley and lever arm kit? Debating if its worth purchasing! Thanks!!
If only it had one with weight stacks like the ATX 800 racks
@8:53 @PrxPerformance has video on how to do a DIY Low Pulley for any rack so we can all train
This is something I’ve really been thinking about.
Surplus Strength makes a better option ;)
@@jasoncampbell3022 I will go check it out, thank you.
Could someone tell me which model of the rack? Thanks!
isnt the second wheel attachment point just for the not offset holes
Hi Coop, have you tried using 35 inch lever arm as the weight option?
Do the REP fitness lat pull down too.
Coop look up rail trainer cable pulley system
I am debating between this or the rep fitness with lat puul down attachment. The thing is that I like the rogue leverage arms better though. Can I use the roque leverage arms and the lat pull down on the foldable rogue rack?
We need a rogue cave review
Ok I NEED HELP…so I have a body solid cage with the lat pull down and row pulley but what can I use to have my feet in proper position as to doing the rows?? Just I just scrap this whole cage and buy another cable machine?? the cable device I have is the Chuck Norris total gym and it’s cool but trying to conserve space in garage and maximize everything. I hope someone here can help a brtha out with some sound direction! Peace to all the iron lovers out there!!
Hi what is the attachement used to bring the weights up and down at 6:33?
What height power rack should I get?
…love your site…very complete…well done…
So how would you get the cable through on a monster lite since not 1in holes...
@6:23 I wonder if you sprayed some silicone spray into that rubber piece if it wouldn’t glide easily and not slip out @Coop
Would this fit on the foldable version of the monster rack
I actually just struggle to find a website where i could buy a seated cable row machine..
Titan has a decent one, but currently out of stock.
Ah ok, thanks.
Is Coup a firefighter? What's up with the stach?
Does anybody know the head height of this room please. It looks like it's more than 8.5 feet.
Does this slinger fit on all rogue applications
Are you going to review the monster cave ?
…would have appreciated more info about your configuration with rino…
I'm pretty sure he's talked about it in the past. Check out the old videos
I do agree on "half bake" and also overpriced garbage. You can just do push-up and pull-up for better results with less cost.
Wish you would review the titan functional trainer
Being assembled to start testing today!
Rogue needs to make a smith machine attachment
Ew. No.
Why? How would it work? I could see them making a smith machine but not an attachment
I always wonder how Rogue justifies the pricing for stuff like this. Looks like its less than 50,- to make and they charge more than 500,-
Titan plate loaded pully tower is where its at.
would this fit the Rep Fitness pr-4000 rack?
where do you buy the rhino lat pull down?
Perhaps set it up on the side rather than the front.
