From a 62 year old rocker in the UK most cover versions don’t do the song justice, for once this one surpasses it, best cover version ever in my humble opinion.
I just heard this and of them for the first time, last night. I've listened to this song at least 10 times since and its just I can't even describe it. It grabs your soul and heart like few things I've heard. What a voice. A gift. I'm grateful he's been able to share it with the rest of us. They did a great song a great service.
I am an old guy who lived and loved the original. I saw these videos a while ago, and to be honest I refused to give any of them a try since I felt the original had to be the best. It was really in my heart and mind. And then one day while watching a series called the Blacklist, there was a scene in a car and this song was playing. I followed the credits to get the name of the band. The song really moved me. Then I found the Conan version and I was totally blown away. I had forgotten how exciting and wonderful new music could make me feel. I can tell you what I was doing when I heard the original. It takes me way back to a time in my life. But the Disturbed version captures the same emotions. It is powerful! Unbelievable. I felt like a kid again. Thank you Disturbed!!
I never heard or listened to any of this mans music before. About knocked me over. Simon and garfinkal would have been proud of his rendition of their song. Just amazing vocal. He is really great with it. Just as good if not better than the original.
I, too, am a grandmother, 75, and hate metal and Grunge but this man is absolutely amazing the way he has control of his voice and his body language make me FEEL his message. I always liked the Simon and Garfunkel recording but, David Draian brought it to life!
You did not chop it to pieces on every line or after every 10 seconds. This song is not a puzzle either, psychosis therefore not required. You let it play. It engulfed as it did. So no explanation needed. An absolute Masterpiece. Good job.
David Draiman is beyond talented. He makes you feel the song and the meaning of it in the depths of your soul. I have watched it over and over and every single time I am so moved by it! That is what music should do! Simply amazing! ❤
"It takes no talent to criticize." 👍🏻 I can't hear this song without tearing up, more and more, as the song grows... and I'm completely sobbing by the end. Too close to home...
I'm 61 years young from Germany and I love Disturbed. I didn't know that David Draimans was rated negatively and that he had a fever on the show, so I think his performance is brilliant. Such a soft, clear, emotional voice is very, very rarely found. No idea why they have negative react, but it can't be an understanding of music😉
This song is perfection. I am a grandma and grew up with the original and I prefer this version. David Draiman is an angel. I even like the "regular " Disturbed music.
I’m old enough to have loved the original. I have lived long enough to FEEL David Draiman and Disturbed’s version. There’s only one other cover that I can think of that compares to this, and that’s Whitney’s cover of “I Will Always Love You”. As technically perfect as Whitney sings, Draiman’s hits like a gut punch. I’ve listened to him sing this song at least 150 times. Still brings tears and goose bumps. I would love to know how it feels to affect millions of people like he has done.
I TOTALLY AGREE. DAVID DRAIMAN IN THIS SONG IS TOTALLY EPIC EPIC EPIC. HE TAKES THIS SONG TO A WHOLE TOTAL NEW LEVEL AND MAKE THIS SONG SO PURE, AND MAKES IT WAY WAY BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL. THIS MAN IS SO FREAKING EPIC EPIC EPIC. YOU NEED TO TRY THE OFFICIAL VIDEO BECAUSE I AM TRANSFIXED BY THE VIDEO AS WELL AS HIS FACE AND VOICE. I KEEP GETTING GOOSEBUMPS NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE HEARD THIS SONG.
That is why I love David DRAIMAN, his mastery of his voice like listening to a Stradivarius being played perfectly. And he's a really good man who genuinely cares about people and the world we live in
I wouldn't call my self a pro listener, but i must say that his performance not only gives me goosebumbs, but tears me up. And that doesn't happen often.
Just found your reaction to Disturbed, You are one of the very few who did not pause it every farts end to give their....oh, so important...reaction to each and every decibel and note, not to mention every expression and piano chord. You listened to the whole song...THEN gave your reaction. Love you for this. Love this song by Disturbed. Now pressing the subscribe button. xxx
Finally able to watch this one. A great song and great band. To those who critique David's voice when it falters or studders, people forget he has an injury in his throat. I do not recall it exactly, but in an interview he mentioned they had to heal it with tissue and that it was a once over. There's no way to heal it again if it tears. So David doing what he does with his brothers is, admirable and amazing enough. Like Max said, who are we to critique when we can't hold a note. Just enjoy it for what it is. Beautiful.
I just remember being so happy to hear this angelic side to his vocals when I grew up listening to him sing so heavy. You can really hear the church (or synagogue in this case) in his voice.
I have watched signs of reaction videos by a wide variety of people, from everyday folks to professionals in the music industry, and I've never seen anyone dislike this, or criticize it. Everyone I've ever seen so far has loved it.
I have seen 2 reactions, which claims that he used a popular voice changing software (dont remember the name). For me it is a excellent cover of the S&G song. I like both versions,. But this one goives me more goosebumps :)
At LEAST once a month...if not more...when everyday things start worrying me... I play this song... to calm myself......It reminds me that Gods in Control & that everythings going to be ok....
I was in awe of this performance and the absolute tone of his voice. As with all the other commenters, I cried hearing this song being done the way I believe it should have been but couldn't be at the time by Simon and Garfunkel. I would love to see more reactions. I would like to recommend Home Free's cover of a Crosby, Stills and Nash song.....Helplessly Hoping. I am curious to see if you even post it, based on what your criteria are. Thank you for this.
I never get sick on hearing this and see reastions. This is so close to perfection, even Simon and Garfunkel said after hearing this version that it was't their song anymore. Said that David found feelings and depth they did't 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I wonder what Simon and Garfunkel think of this version of their song? Every time I watch this live version I get chills. His vocal range is amazing, raw and sweet. Powerful and soft. I love it!
David Draiman was actually very ill and fighting a 102 fever when this performance was taped. Just shows the power of his voice. Not gonna lie, I'm a 48 year old man and first time I heard this version I was on my knees in tears.
Glad I'm not the only one. Every time I hear him sing this, like now, tears uncontrollably stream down my face. Don't know what it is about his voice in this song.
Absolutely. The first time that I heard it was from a video made in Standing Rock North Dakota when the government was trying to put a pipeline through the sacred burial grounds on the Reservation. Morton County Police militarized themselves and shot everyone including the Elders with rubber bullets and threw sound grenades, one blew the arm off of a peaceful protesters. They put up razor wire and sprayed the peaceful protesters with water cannons in -17° weather. Check out Disturbed Sound of Silence Standing Rock. It's very graphic. They ran the pipeline through anyway only to have it leak 176,000 gallons of crude oil into a creek and into the water table of the Standing Rock Reservation.
Every time i hear this song it gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes. I love David's voice ❤❤❤❤❤ You are so right - this song can NOT be critiqued
I learned a lot about how he sang this song by watching videos from singing coaches, some more than others of course. I knew nothing about music notes, how he uses his vocal cords, chest, nose, tongue; how you pronounce verbs and nouns in songs but I know more now. I have only seen one so called singer give him a bad review and that was because she was stuck on the original Simon and Garfunkle version. Obviously there was some prejudice but overall a singer and song who have 900 million views on TH-cam produced something that is genius.
Max, I realize that you can pick the small things that make THAT song/music SO special! It's a solar system apart from the original recording or any other double that was made of it
Paul Simon, upon hearing Draiman told him it was the best version of his song he had ever heard and that the song now belongs to Disturbed. I so agree!
Just because of the honest statement at the beginning... I can't promise that I like the music/video... I subscribe to your channel. There are too many reaction channels that worship whatever is suggested, like a kind of click fishing. I'm curious. Is my first video of you. Greetings from Germany.

Preach, brother! I think this is the most breathtakingly beautiful performance I've ever seen. I watch this video repeatedly and it ALWAYS brings out goosebumps, and it usually brings tears. The vocal is staggering and the arrangement is genius.

This song and this exact performance will never be outdone by no other. This cover performance is untouchable. The orchestra adds to the emotional perfection that this version embodies. The people who attended this will never forget it and probably left the show in tears knowing they witnessed a once in a lifetime moment.
Thank you for your closing statement on this generational song. It's been years since Disturbed performed this song on Conan and I still get goosebumps whenever I see this performance (the extra bonus is being able to enjoy people's reactions to it). Keep up the great work!
I think this is the best reaction I have ever seen. Anyone who stops this part way through to say something is grotesque. There is no vocal reaction to this, it is all physical. It is cold chills , it is goosebumps , it is pure close your eye & breath it in as you listen. It is pure joy. It does not need the spoken word to give your reaction.💓
I grew up in a house where music was played almost constantly. Music is in my Soul. And this performance is one that I will watch over and over, and it hits me every single time. This is absolutely a jaw-dropping performance. Absolutely beautiful.
I think most people want to criticise what they can't do themselves, because they feel like it makes them seem more capable than they likely are on a subject. As a musician, who has been playing music for over 40 years, I'm confident enough in my own abilities to say this: I'm a damn good musician, I've spent years worth of time practising and putting my heart into my music. I chose a different path professionally, but that doesn't take away from my abilities, I just choose to keep my passion for music a pleasure, not a job. That said, these musicians that are professional and show their passion to as many as they can reach, deserve nothing but respect, even if their particular music isn't to your taste. Then you find a talent in a place you never expected to find it. Disturbed, all of the band, but David Draiman in particular, are talented beyond reason. There are many underrated artists out there, I hope will get their credit some day, in my humble opinion, Disturbed has been there for a long time. Thank you for your screening (since you couldn't give a true reaction) it was the best "reaction" video I've seen on this so far. ❤️
Your the best reactor of this video ever. You didnt stop and start all the way through like some of them do. This is the most beautiful rendition of this. Even better than the original. Thankyou.
Their version of this song gave it a whole new meaning for me. It is exquisite, deep, and perfect. Listen to their performance with James Kennedy singing the harmony. 🤌
David asked the band members how they wanted to do this cover they all said in a stripped-down version Paul Simon said when he heard this cover is the best cover he's ever heard of The sound of David nail this cover
I've seen a lot of reviews on this song people try to explain how he did it what he did but I've never heard anyone say anything negative I don't think they can find anything negative to say and in the live performance he was really really sick with the Flu. I thoroughly enjoy David Draiman's rendition of this song
Thank you! I LOVE WHAT YOU SAID! I have seen a very few reactions where they did critique in a negative way. I was like... OK, what lanet are you from. His vocals are above and beyond!
Great reaction. I'm only a listener and had never heard of this band/group before hearing this cover the other day. To me, it was pure perfection and gets a 12 out of 10. Have listened to nearly 40 reactions and this one was the best but it is the song that is magical👌🥇👏🎶👍😁

Good job.
David is one of very few singers who can pull off this type of cover of such a classic song!
This is literal perfection
I’m old enough to have loved the original. I have lived long enough to FEEL David Draiman and Disturbed’s version. There’s only one other cover that I can think of that compares to this, and that’s Whitney’s cover of “I Will Always Love You”. As technically perfect as Whitney sings, Draiman’s hits like a gut punch. I’ve listened to him sing this song at least 150 times. Still brings tears and goose bumps. I would love to know how it feels to affect millions of people like he has done.
I liked the original too but I never went back to listen to it over and over again like this version draws me to do.
This has to be one of the best covers of ALL time!!
Now pressing the subscribe button. xxx
Best version of a cover song EVER! Someone had said he was sick with a cold and sore throat doing this show which makes it even more amazing.
Sick with the flu and a temp of 102°
The way he sings this song.....brings tears to my eyes every time!!! Absolutely life changing. ❤️
He ws sick when he did this performance and it was still perfect. i love him
For me he is perfection as is his backing lighting his diction And that one sung word more just melted me
When first listening to this song, it brought tears to my eyes.
Love your reaction! 💗100% agree
Beautiful.
Exactly I feel every time I hear it.....From deep inside me.....
Thank you for listening instead of interrupting the song with their words! David Draiman has a voice for the ages. He is a vocal magician.
Everyone I've ever seen so far has loved it.
most do!
I have seen 2 reactions, which claims that he used a popular voice changing software (dont remember the name).
For me it is a excellent cover of the S&G song. I like both versions,. But this one goives me more goosebumps :)
Thank you! It was perfect. ❤️
HEYA, DENISE FROM ATHENS. (I AM GERMAN). I CHOOSED THIS PERFORMANCE FOR MY FUNERAL. REALLY. YOU SAID THE BEST THING I EVER HEARD .
David was also fighting a head cold during that performance. That's a solid testament of his vocal training.
At LEAST once a month...if not more...when everyday things start worrying me... I play this song... to calm myself......It reminds me that Gods in Control & that everythings going to be ok....
No stops you talked with your face THE BEST!!!
I worked there show in 2003. The man is a special person to talk to. Down With The Sickness
2nd.PART😊. YOU SAID,IT DOES NOT NEED TALENT TO CRITICIZE. THAANNXXX,LUV U 4 THAT
I never get sick on hearing this and see reastions. This is so close to perfection, even Simon and Garfunkel said after hearing this version that it was't their song anymore. Said that David found feelings and depth they did't 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Yes correct! David was sick at the time.. Amazing cover!
A professional singer who did a reaction to it. She noticed at the first lyrics that he was sick.
🤟
@@roseannamanues2111 which reaction is that, do you remember?
I’ll agree even though I don’t know wtf you said! Lol
Max, I realize that you can pick the small things that make THAT song/music SO special! It's a solar system apart from the original recording or any other double that was made of it
David actually had the flu when he performed this on Conan.
Disturbed’s version of Sound of Silence is musical perfection.
Paul Simon, upon hearing Draiman told him it was the best version of his song he had ever heard and that the song now belongs to Disturbed. I so agree!
ALL OF THIS 💯
Knowing that Dave Draiman has fought through his own darkness makes this performance even more power.
His amazing an a beautiful haunting voice ....I have him singin 2 me 4 yrs
Just because of the honest statement at the beginning... I can't promise that I like the music/video... I subscribe to your channel. There are too many reaction channels that worship whatever is suggested, like a kind of click fishing. I'm curious. Is my first video of you. Greetings from Germany.
Added a comment 2 months ago..re-watching now. All your comments were written on your face, I could tell when you were impressed, which was all the time you were listening. You are my favourite reactionist. xx
Preach, brother! I think this is the most breathtakingly beautiful performance I've ever seen. I watch this video repeatedly and it ALWAYS brings out goosebumps, and it usually brings tears. The vocal is staggering and the arrangement is genius.
His technics is absolute period..😍😍
Thankyou thankyou thankyou for listening to the end before voicing your opinion on this brilliant performance of Disturbed, l have goosebumps every time l listen to David Dryman singing this classic by Simon and Garfunkel, lt is totally the best version l have ever heard, l'm sure there are many who agree with me after listening to this, many thanks from Scotland 🏴
Master piece from god
It raises the hair on my arms and grabs my soul. How talented is he? He was actually sick while singing on Conan...that is a true professional!!
He has a BEAUTIFUL VOICE.
I can't get enough of this version. It's brilliant. It gives me goose bumps.
I listen to it every night since I came across it. Just fantastic.x
I grew up in a house where music was played almost constantly. Music is in my Soul. And this performance is one that I will watch over and over, and it hits me every single time. This is absolutely a jaw-dropping performance. Absolutely beautiful.
I love the effects trail off at the end. Musically the end sounds like a Christmas song.
I think most people want to criticise what they can't do themselves, because they feel like it makes them seem more capable than they likely are on a subject. As a musician, who has been playing music for over 40 years, I'm confident enough in my own abilities to say this:
I'm a damn good musician, I've spent years worth of time practising and putting my heart into my music.
This right here is what it's all about.
3rd PART. MY FIRST VINYL(!),WAS LIVE KILLERS FROM QUEEN. I WAS 10....I KNOW QUALITY ,WHEN I HEAR IT❤
David asked the band members how they wanted to do this cover they all said in a stripped-down version Paul Simon said when he heard this cover is the best cover he's ever heard of The sound of David nail this cover
I have heard David say that he has been Classically trained in music
I've seen a lot of reviews on this song people try to explain how he did it what he did but I've never heard anyone say anything negative I don't think they can find anything negative to say and in the live performance he was really really sick with the Flu. I thoroughly enjoy David Draiman's rendition of this song
Thank you for putting poeple who only 'critique' others to be negativ but couldn't bring anything to the table themselves in their place.
Thank you! I LOVE WHAT YOU SAID! I have seen a very few reactions where they did critique in a negative way. I was like... OK, what lanet are you from. His vocals are above and beyond!
Saw them do this song live in a small venue in Memphis called the Omni New Daisy. It was almost a religious experience.
Great reaction. I'm only a listener and had never heard of this band/group before hearing this cover the other day. To me, it was pure perfection and gets a 12 out of 10. Have listened to nearly 40 reactions and this one was the best but it is the song that is magical👌🥇👏🎶👍😁
62 year old grandma here. I’ve never listened to heavy metal, couldn’t stand the screaming. My daughter played this version for me .. she said “ give it a chance Ma.” I did.. I cried.. this man made my heart hurt, my ears happy and sad at the same time and I fell in love with him and his music. I downloaded all their music and listen on a daily basis, for I too am a professional music listener. I prefer music to television ( unless I’m watching The Virginian.) another cover they do that I absolutely love is Land of Confusion.. by Phil Collins. I love David’s voice and the little ( bark?) he does in certain songs. A note on you, Mr. Professional. Thank you for not pausing, to gibber away with nonsense. You just don’t pause a performance such as this. You don’t pause the official video either. You should be AWESTRUCK… just like the rest of us when listening to perfection. NUFF SAID.
Best reaction video yet. Thank you for entertaining me for a little over eight minutes. Good job sir!
I’ll say it again: this is an anthem for our times❤
Voice cracked? It was bloody amazing! And apparently he was performing on Conan while suffering with a 102-degree fever. Loved it!!! It was spectacular!
Great reaction just the joy and admiration in face was golden I'm 51 years old I have been obsessed with music as long as I can remember this live performance is a masterpiece I like to see you react to Jinjer Pisces live studio recording if you haven't seen it you should really check it out blew my mind I love
LOVE that you didn't interrupt the video with your reactions. ❤
I'd rather hear the review from a professional music listener over ANY vocal coach, or anyone who dares rip apart perfection.
Thank you for telling the TRUTH!
Song still gives me chills to this day. David's voice is ethereal, have always enjoyed Disturbed. If you want a suggestion on something to listen to, Alter Bridge has a new album out called Pawns and Kings with a lot of great songs on it.
Really? Altar Bridge is great
