He's asked to play guitar and sing, and he says he's not really prepared--PAUL MCCARTNEY--who has been doing just that his whole life, is not prepared enough in his mind. It shows you the level of his professionalism and desire to give the maximum to his audience. Each time Parkinson compliments him, he smiles shyly, looking away a bit--after all these years, still so humble, still so down to earth. You've got to love that man!

@@rtotalminer1816 You nailed it. As a musician, you realize you're always in the middle. There's always someone way better than you, and someone who's got so much they can learn from you. I think that's what's kept Paul McCartney humble, is he sees that in life too. No matter how high you rise, no matter what you accomplish, in reality you're still right in the middle.

English interviewers are typically so much better than American interviewers. No fluff or garbage. Just good reasonable conversation. I appreciate it very much.

And if you listen to Radio 4, you'll find their news questioners are so much better than those in the US (who regularly give politicians a pass).

Paul's such a sweetheart. At the end you can see the gratitude and delight in his eyes when Parkinson tells him people will be singing his songs in a thousand years' time. To those who say this is not the real Paul, all you need do is look in his eyes at that point to know the truth. He's a gentle soul who has had to learn to be guarded. And what jewels he has given the world from his heart!

Paul McCartney is the cream of the crop as a songwriter and performer! I've had the great fortune of seeing him live twice in my life. First time was with the Beatles on Aug 28, 1966 at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles (the evening BEFORE their last show at Candlestick Park, San Francisco). I still have my ticket stub. I have EVERY album and I became a semi professional musician largely because of the musicianship of the Beatles and learning how to sing good harmony by picking out each of their parts. I saw Wings in 1990 and was floored at how much he loves to please the audience and gave us a great show with his massively powerful vocals. He has the power when he wants it and learned to scream from little Richard. I LOVE PAUL ♥

@@AstrosElectronicsLab the money is a side benefit, but his soul was meant to create, write and sing beautiful songs...and he has! He did it for the love of music when he didn't have money.

Nice interview. Good to hear that Paul and John spent time together when still very young.

Great show! He still makes me laugh, after all these years. And that "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard" album should be in every fan's collection. It also has the ballad from the movie The Lake House...called This Never Happened to Me Before.

Had I seen this when it originally aired in 2005, I’d have probably thought to myself, “Jeez, Paul is starting to look old.” But here were are, in 20, and I’m thinking, “Boy, he still looks young!”

They make an important point here.. Those times were very extraordinary & fruitful for any musician/artist with a vision to "Change the World" of music forever. Today, apart from the fact that people are brought up to conform, imitate, avoid melody, & adhere to trend; if there happened to be good gifted & modest artists, they won't get noticed. The trouble is, most gifted artists don't have the ego to push their art. Ego deludes reality. And so they will drift on by; brilliant, but unknown.
