Yes, and even more amazing that they are still being played all around the world 60 years later. I don't think I go a week without playing a few Beatle songs. Paul Weller asked an interesting question about having to play all the old hits as fans are more interested. I remember years ago, Bowie stating " he was not going to be performing the old songs anymore". Bowie soon had to change his mind as the fans let him know they would not buy tickets for his concerts. We all love the oldies. I saw McCartney at Hyde Park in 2009 and if he had not sung the Long & Winding road and all the other great Beatles songs, I would have been peeved. Must add, that day in Hyde Park was one of the best days of my life to watch someone i have admired for over 50 years.. Shame that age has altered Paul's vocals, still he is still with us, and that is what counts.
No amount of praise and credit for you and everything you have ever done in music. Is never going to be too generous. You have said and done it all in music one way or another. You and your music will always be liked and loved forever by me and the world. Very well done and thank you Paul.

Yes - which says much about John's determination and drive. As John took Paul and certainly George under his wing, so Paul recognised the importance of having a tight family feel in the band. In light of this, it makes complete sense. Good thing Linda was ready for the journey - she as already a successful music photo-journalist when she linked up with Paul. She ended up with two additional successful careers: vocalist and instrumentalist with Wings, and successful purveyor of vegan meals. I get the fact there was available 'seed money' but this is still the life's work of a very very successful person by anyone's measure. I fully get why Linda's children remain so proud of her achievements. Name me the wife of another famous rockstar who achieved so much in the public eye and on their own terms.
Our country has produced some great talents, but Lennon and McCartney are probably the tops. Paul is an amazing musician, composer and just a very interesting guy to listen to and he never forgets where he’s from.

He always was something of a raconteur, our Paul. Loves to hold court, be in the spotlight - which is entirely consistent with how he is, and was on stage. And that's not a criticism, just an observation. He can't help it, it's a function of the person he is - and how he has chosen to deal with being so famous as well as being successful. Neither John nor George coped in the same way as they were entirely different personalities. Some would say far less given to shallowness of relating. Paul just seems to accept the world the way it is and has become very, very good at doing so.
It is understandable how hard it must have been for all of them to end the Beatles. These guys started as a cover band playing dive bars for beer money and in a few years were the most famous people on earth in the most successful rock/pop band ever. Paul, John and George were all such great writers who could also sing and play so it stands to reason they would eventually go solo but when you look at the quality of the songs written when working as the Beatles it is astounding and untouchable.
Watching them all write in the extended Let It Be was truly amazing. Their knowledge of music although they could not read was thorough. I am sure George Martin taught them alot in this regard. You can see Martin's pain during the 8 hours of Let It Be as this was the only album he did not "officially produce" but certainly had a large hand in.
reading music has NOTHING to do with good songwriting. As a matter of fact it detracts from it! Having said that George Martin most certainly had a hand in beatles early songs

Hello Mate, thank you so very much for posting this... So many of us can't watch BBC in USA. I've been watching The Beatles "GET BACK" Documentry.. I am seeing a side of Fab Four, never known before, letting me into their unique world. These four mystical men change our World, set it on fire, and through them, they brought forth people of many of bands, music, and lyrics changing everything in this big old world and still do till this very day. I take comfort somewhere on Earth, someone is hearing The Beatles for the first time, which will influence and unleash their own creativity in their life in grand way, like it did the rest of us. So all of us old folks out there, start playing our boys "The BEATLE'S "music to the younger generation and so they will have a spark of creativity somewhere on this planet. Who knows where this will take us, so let's keep the Beatles music alive for future generations!!!😍😘😉 Peace ✌🏼Love 💖 & Music 🎶😎

And for that I will always be grateful for their contribution to music and other genres that came from the blues great artists....
I know two people in my life who say “I’m not a fan” and the other “Beatles are so overrated”. Seriously I don’t understand their logic, it truly baffles me with those types. Beatles were the ahead of time, and appreciated as the really the best band ever. Even if you don’t like the music ones gotta see their incredible talent. And what they did in such a short time.
I agree that the Beatles were phenomenal. But not ahead of there time. They were the most effective in having an impact on opening up peoples perception of what music could be. They also wrote some of the best songs of all time. Paul McCartney mentions people who went before him who he loves. His love is music not fame.

They were essentially a '50s bar band that became so successful, George noted their committments prevented them from woodshedding by 1964! So they had to come up with material in full public view Talk about pressure!

McCartney was never an old hippy. None of them The Beatles were. The hippies may have loved them, everyone did but The Beatles were above being members of a sub culture. Lennon wrote All You Need is Love and around that time McCartney wrote Your Mother Should Know. Can’t see the hippy message in that. The Beatles were the most eclectic band on the planet , every album had a whole different mix of songs, most of which did not have a hippy message. Live and Let Die was a Bond movie theme, the title was already decided, it was a job, not a reflection of his actual ideals.
The first Beatles album I listened to was my mums copy of the love songs album in the 70’s. Then I was introduced to Wings, it took a while to join the dots as a child that Imagine and Mull of Kintyre were from former Beatles Etc. I read about the Beatles split and as an 11 year old with a creative imagination my first thought on hearing Starting Over was that it was a love song to Paul McCartney. As I’ve grown and written some of my own songs my belief in that has been cemented even more. Of course it may have been about many other things but as Paul says he would not have necessarily said he loved John directly unless drunk or in a song. Anyway what do the thoughts of an 11 year old matter? If only they had been together like the early days, who knows what could have emerged.
I am devastated to see that all these years have won over his voice... this magical instrument that has seduced us so much in concert, from the beginning of the Beatles to today. Thank you Sir Paul ...I will always be an eternal fan and follow you in all artistic creations, whose secret and talent you have. Thank you
@@gototcm McCartney called it quits in the early 80's. His voice was spot on for a long time after that. If smoking is the cause the serious degradation of his voice over the last 10 years, it laid in waiting a long time before revealing itself.
For real, I knew this day would eventually come and have been dreading it. But every year he'd surprise me, high register still firmly intact 😲 Quite stunned it held out as long as it did, considering some bad habits and not exactly conscientious voice care. A very gradual degrade was noticeable as time wore on, but now it's pronounced. But waddya gonna do right 🤷♂️ That singular voice had an incredible extended run and there'll never be another quite like it. We have a precious treasure trove recorded for safekeeping and future gens. RIP The Voice 🙏
Every year I would watch concert footage and be surprised how well his voice held up. Finally it has broken down, but it lasted longer than I ever thought.
Enjoyed this very much. As a prolific songwriter ... who has never gotten anywhere, it's refreshing to hear Paul talk about the process. The easiest thing to do as a songwriter is to write about where your heart is at the moment. Something stirs you greatly ... and this mysterious God given gift births a new song. I love Paul's story about Hey Jude .... how he was on his way over to be a comfort to Julian. I've told a lot of people that story

McCartney was never an old hippy. None of them The Beatles were. The hippies may have loved them, everyone did but The Beatles were above being members of a sub culture. Lennon wrote All You Need is Love and around that time McCartney wrote Your Mother Should Know. Can’t see the hippy message in that. The Beatles were the most eclectic band on the planet , every album had a whole different mix of songs, most of which did not have a hippy message. Live and Let Die was a Bond movie theme, the title was already decided, it was a job, not a reflection of his actual ideals.
The first Beatles album I listened to was my mums copy of the love songs album in the 70’s. Then I was introduced to Wings, it took a while to join the dots as a child that Imagine and Mull of Kintyre were from former Beatles Etc. I read about the Beatles split and as an 11 year old with a creative imagination my first thought on hearing Starting Over was that it was a love song to Paul McCartney. As I’ve grown and written some of my own songs my belief in that has been cemented even more. Of course it may have been about many other things but as Paul says he would not have necessarily said he loved John directly unless drunk or in a song.
Anyway what do the thoughts of an 11 year old matter?
If only they had been together like the early days, who knows what could have emerged.

@@gototcm McCartney called it quits in the early 80's. His voice was spot on for a long time after that. If smoking is the cause the serious degradation of his voice over the last 10 years, it laid in waiting a long time before revealing itself.
For real, I knew this day would eventually come and have been dreading it. But every year he'd surprise me, high register still firmly intact 😲 Quite stunned it held out as long as it did, considering some bad habits and not exactly conscientious voice care. A very gradual degrade was noticeable as time wore on, but now it's pronounced.
But waddya gonna do right 🤷♂️ That singular voice had an incredible extended run and there'll never be another quite like it. We have a precious treasure trove recorded for safekeeping and future gens.

Every year I would watch concert footage and be surprised how well his voice held up. Finally it has broken down, but it lasted longer than I ever thought.

Enjoyed this very much. As a prolific songwriter ... who has never gotten anywhere, it's refreshing to hear Paul talk about the process. The easiest thing to do as a songwriter is to write about where your heart is at the moment. Something stirs you greatly ... and this mysterious God given gift births a new song. I love Paul's story about Hey Jude .... how he was on his way over to be a comfort to Julian. I've told a lot of people that story
I think Hey Jude title may have been inspired by Julian but the song lyrics are really about John…and how yoko changed him

Paul your right I pick up my guitar and play chords but I don't write, I remember. I've always stared at Beatles,the pictures,the albums especially at Paul. I think you are why I love the Beatles. The love Is like a brother you am sorry.

I always wonder if Paul’s approach to his first solo album was influenced by ‘John Wesley Harding’ - the stripped-back album Bob Dylan made during his isolation following a motorbike accident. (Both of them leaving the crazy, heady madness of 1960s fame) etc.
